11g on OUL 5:  CHKCONFIG ISSUE

Hello,
I was able to install 11g on OUL5 after following Ivans preinstallation instructions.
(looks like main issue was default install was missing the following:
compat-db, libaio-devel, unixODBC, unixODBC)
They were present on the ISO files and installed without issue.
After 11g installed, trying to setup the autostart for oracle service.
Created /etc/init.d/oracle script as specified
executed chmod 750 /etc/init.d/oracle (nothing echoed to screen, but no error)
when ran chkconfig add oracle level 0356 get the following error:
service oracle does not support chkconfig
got the same error with oraoem file also
Is this why the database doesnt come up on boot?
The database wont start manually in sqlplus either?
It seems that chkconfig issue may be critical?

executed chmod 750 /etc/init.d/oracle (nothing echoed to screen, but no error)This command does not print anything (of course if there is not error in syntax). So it's quite normal.
when ran chkconfig add oracle level 0356 get the following error:
service oracle does not support chkconfigThis error occurs when "# chkconfig: 35 80 30" is missing in /etc/init.d/oracle script. Probably you didn't copy whole script from my site.
Is this why the database doesnt come up on boot?Yes that's the reason.
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/opt/oracle/111/dbs/initORCL.ora'
[]$ cd /opt/oracle/111/dbs/
[]$ ls
hc_orcl.dat initdw.ora init.ora lkORCL orapworcl spfileorcl.oraSee the bold text. Can you see the difference? Now explanation. Unix and Linux are operating systems which are case sensitive (Windows does not).
Your ORACLE_SID has value "ORCL" (which is in uppercase) while you create database (using DBCA) as "orcl" (which is lowercase). So you have two options.
1. (IMHO better solution) delete existing database and create new database using uppercase name (ORCL).
2. change value of ORACLE_SID to lowercase format (orcl).

    I don't think this is a SQLDeveloper issue. You will get better answers in the Database - General or perhaps SQL and PL/SQL forums.

    Oracle 11g - External Table/Remote File Issue?
    =============================
    I hope this is the right forum for this issue, if not let me, where to go.
    We are using Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0) on (Platform : solaris[tm] oe (64-bit)), Sql Developer 3.0.04
    We are not allowed to put files on the CSV file system (Server A), where DB instance is running. We are able place CSV files on another server(Server B), where DB instance is not running.
    We are trying to use oracle external table to load text files in .CSV format.
    How do we create a Directory (Create Directory) on Server A DB to point to File system of Server B?
    Is it feasible?
    Any idea?
    Thanks in helping.

    The Solaris DBA should be able to mount the filesystem for you. Either that or you have to get creative transferring the file like this;
    http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Getting-creative-external-table-preprocessor-140609.S.50474382?qid=ba673ce4-c4bb-40c5-8367-52bd2a2dfc80&trk=group_search_item_list-0-b-ttl&goback=%2Egmp_140609

  • Oracle 11g R2 Client Silent Installation Issue (PATH) Windows 7 x86

    Hi All,
    I'm hoping somebody can shed some light on this issue.
    I created a Response file using the 'Save Response File' method during an interactive installation on a Windows 7 Enterprise x86 client. (file enclosed)
    I have installed it multiple times now with multiple permutations of the command line (got caught out by the old lower case F in responseFile) but now I'm getting the same error each time (a critical error with the PATH according to the installation log). There is nothing wrong with the path length as the installation works fine in GUI mode and passes the Prereq check.
    I launch the command line to install (with Run As Administrator) - "[location of setup.exe]\setup.exe" -nowait -silent -responseFile "[location of response file]\Oracle11gv2.rsp"

  • SSIS Oracle 11g 64 bit client upgrade Issue

    After the oracle client upgrade from 10g to 11g, the ssis jobs are getting failed for the BadImageFormatException. Attempt to load Oracle client libraries threw This problem will occur when running in 64 bit mode with the 32 bit Oracle client components installed.
    But the same package with same system requirements and same sql agent configuration is wroking fine in DIT. Please find below the system configuration in both environment.
    DIT
    Oracle Client - Oracle 11g 64 bit , Microsoft SQL Server - 32 and 64bit, Windows machine - 64 bt SP4, In job there is no configuration in command line to run in 32 bit mode since we are using the are using the .Net Provider/OracleClient Data Provider connection manager to the database .
    UAT :
    Oracle Client - Oracle 11g 64 bit , Microsoft SQL Server - 32 and 64bit, Windows machine - 64 bt SP4, In job there is no configuration in command line to run in 32 bit mode
    In UAT, Everything looks as DIT but the job is not working fine in DIT.
    I have gone through all the thread related to 32 64 bit, .Net Oracle client provide but i haven't found any solution for this problem.
    Can you please tell me the missed out configuration in DIT and UAT? the exact problem for this issue ? what is the oracle components required for this connection? Its urgent.
    What is missing in the oracle end?
    Thanks
    Satheesh

    32 bit apps will need 32 bit Oracle client software installed.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

    The error occures while upgrading the Work repository. Mster Repository upgrade passed without issues.
    Can this be related to the fact that I skipped some ODI releases - 10.1.3.5 or 11.1.1.5 ???
    Please advise ...

    Thanks for the confirmation.
    We also have lot of business rules on 10.1.3.4.
    In 10g we have a separate application called rules author to create/manage rules and which in tern save them to rules repository.These rules are not part of BPEL processes
    but in 11g we have rules dictionary which will take all defined rules and is part of composite.
    During upgrade process,How can 10g rules from rules repo come to dictionary in 11g?
    Is this step automated or we need to manually export them from 10g rules rep and import them into 11g ?
    Waht is the process
    Thanks,
    Praveen

  • Integrating Oracle Forms 11g with JavaScript - keystrokes support issues

    This article
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/forms/11g/jsinteg/formsjsinteg/setup.htm
    shows the JavasriptIntegration with Oracle Forms.
    I am trying to navigate out of Oracle Forms Java Applet with separateFrame=false to access an external menu using JavaScript. I can't find a way to navigate out of Oracle Forms. My focus stays inside the currently opened form and the applet does not lose the focus.
    I need to access any external UI component by shifting the focus form the Java Applet to that components using only key strokes.
    Thanks for your help

    Vikas,
    Sorry for the delay. I am still investigating this. In general, it would appear as I mentioned. If the form that contains the code specific to the event monitoring has not been run, then it cannot be executed. We are trying to get clarification on the definition of "scope" in this case. In the mean time, one alternative might be to subclass the related triggers/pu and include them in all of the forms where you want them to fire. Currently I am suspecting that scope refers to a relationship to forms currently running. For example if you have form A, B, and C running a scope of "form" might suggest that the events are only monitored if the current form includes the necessary code. However, if "application" then even if the form containing the necessary code is not the current form, the necessary code would fire anyway. Again, I am trying to get more clarification, but it is slow coming.
    If this is truely an urgent issue, I encourage you to create a Service Request with Oracle Support.

  • Oracle 11g on Linux : Query Optimization issue

    Hi guru,
    I am facing one query optimization related problem in group by query
    Table (10 million Records)
    Product(ProductId number,ProductName varchar(100),CategoryId VARCHAR2(38),SubCategoryId VARCHAR2(38))
    Index
    create index idxCategory on Product (CategoryId,SubCategoryId)
    Query1:To find product count for all CategoryId and SubCategoryId
    select CategoryId,SubCategoryId,count(*) from Product group by CategoryId,SubCategoryId
    Above query is not using index idxCategory and doing table scan which is very costly.
    When I fire Query2: select count(*) from Product group by CategoryId,SubCategoryId
    then it is properly using index idxCategory and very fast.
    Even I specified hint in Query1 but it is not using hint.
    Can anybody suggest why oracle is not using index in Query1 and what should I do so that Query1 will use Index.
    Thanks in advance.

    Can anybody suggest why oracle is not using index in Query1 and what should I do so that Query1 will use Index.The most obvious reason that the table needs to be visited would be that the columns "CategoryId" / "SubCategoryId" can be NULL but then this should apply to both queries. You could try the following to check the NULL issue:
    select CategoryId,SubCategoryId,count(*) from Product where CategoryId is not null and SubCategoryId is not null group by CategoryId,SubCategoryId
    Does this query use the index?
    Can you show us the hint you've used to force the index usage and the EXPLAIN PLAN output of the two queries including the "Predicate Information" section? Use DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY to get a proper output, and use the \ tag before and after when posting here to format it using fixed font. Use the "Quote" button in the message editor to see how I used the \ tag here.
    Are above queries representing the actual queries used or did you omit some predicates etc. for simplicity?
    By the way, VARCHAR2(38) and ...ID as name, are these columns storing number values?

  • BPM 11G comments and file attachments issue on human tasks

    Hi all,
    We have used JDeveloper 11G and SOA suite 11G + BPM (with PS1,PS2) to create and deploy a simple BPM process. The process consists of two swim-lanes ( Business Analyst and Snr Executive). The BA swim-lane has a human task which which initiates the process and the second swim-lane (SE) has a voting task. Both forms were auto generated.
    ------ Process steps ----
    step 1. The initiator of the process( Business analyst) submits a document and adds comments on the form. (1st swim lane)
    step 2. The task is received by the Snr Executive group and they need to accept or reject the document.
    step 3. If any of the Snr Execs rejects the document, the process flow goes back to the Business analyst(the requester or initiator) for review.
    (the voting group is able to share comments and the file attachments).

The business Analyst, receives the task, but the document and comments are not updated. This still shows the original document and comments, she sent when initiating the process.
    We have opened a SR with My Oracle support and it was suggested we apply a hot fix 9958661, which was done (see output below). Unfortunately this did not solve the problem.
    Questions:
    1. Is the default behavior of BPM 11G ?
    2. How can we change this behavior to do what we want ?

    ApplySession adding interim patch '9958661' to inventory
    Verifying the update...
    Inventory check OK: Patch ID 9958661 is registered in Oracle Home inventory with proper meta-data.
    Files check OK: Files from Patch ID 9958661 are present in Oracle Home.
    The local system has been patched and can be restarted
    I any suggestions would be welcome.
    Thanks

    Ok, this is what i did:
    - I have a Process Data Object called CustomComments with just 1 attribute called comments.
    - I have added that object to my user screens (adf page)
    - Changed its columns att to 65 and rows to 8 (i chose that layout)
    - Used a tableLayout to add an icon next to this text area to allow the user to add comments:
    <af:commandImageLink shortDesc="addCommentImage" id="addCommentImage" partialSubmit="true" icon="/hw_images/new_ena.png">
         <af:clientListener method="myFunction" type="click"/>
         <af:clientAttribute name="attributeName" value="attributeValue"/>
    </af:commandImageLink>
    I use that clientAttribute to send the logged user to the javascipt.
    - I added this after the af:document on top of the page to make the customComments readonly to the user (you need to do it here because if you set it in the properties the element is not updated later), so the user has to use the button i put to add comments:
    <f:facet name="metaContainer">
         <f:facet name="metaContainer">
         <af:resource type="javascript">
              function readOnly(){
                   var comms = document.getElementById("it1::content");
                   comms.setAttribute("readOnly","true")
         </af:resource>
    </f:facet>
    <af:clientListener method="readOnly" type="load"/>
    - Somewhere i added the javascript the commandLink calls:
    <trh:script id="myScripts">
         function addComment(evt){
              var commentArea = document.getElementById("it1::content");
    var user = evt.getSource().getProperty("user");
    var comm = prompt("Please enter your comment: ","");
              if (comm != null) {
                   if (comm != ""){
                        if (commentArea.value !=""){commentArea.value = commentArea.value + "\n"}
                        commentArea.value = commentArea.value + "user.value" + " : " + comm;
    </trh:script>
    After all this, you have an object that carries the comments from one screen (UI project) to another and is updated each time.
    I know it may not be the perfect solution and that it could be improved a lot, but so far it does what i need so i use it.
    If there is anything i wasnt clear enough, please let me know. Hope this helps.

  • ORACLE 11G XE-Materialized view info/issue

    Hi,
    I have two Oracle XE databases with the version 11g, now i want to sync both of this dbs using materialized view feature.
    I have created base table in primary db and created materialized view in secondary db using db link.
    It got created and am able to view the records first time. but when i am selecting view next time its not reflecting changed records.
    Please suggest what needs to do to get it reflected in secondary db.
    mv query is as below
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW mv_emp_pk
         REFRESH FAST START WITH SYSDATE
         NEXT SYSDATE + 1/86400
         WITH PRIMARY KEY
         AS SELECT * FROM emp@remote_db;
    Regards
    Kiran

    The name of this forum is "Streams" not "Materialized Views." Please post your question in the correct forum. Thank you.

  • Oracle 11g new insatllation - perl.exe issues

    Hi all,
    I have recently installed oracle 11g. It was running fine for a few days and then i get errors like 'TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor'. I checked this out and the reason i get these errors is because the machine that i am running oracle on is using all of its available memory.
    The reason that this is occurring appears to be the 10+ instances of perl.exe that are running on it.
    When i restart the machine there are 2 instances of perl.exe, but over time they multiply until the memory is used up.
    Any ideas on why this is occurring or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Because of perl.exe I guess you're talking about an installation on Windows. What you see is not a bug, these perl instances belong to Enterprise Manager dbconsole. Perl processes are opened and closed permanently,especially during dbconsole startup you may see 10 and more. When these processes fill up the available memory, I think your machine has not enough RAM. Either add more RAM or - as a workaround - don't start dbconsole.

  • OIM 11g - User Management Authorization policy issues

    Hello,
    1) Created an organization -> Human Resource
    2) Created an Role -> HR_Admins
    3) Assigned HR_Admins roles as administrative role of Human Resource organization
    4) Created user1 with organization as Human Resource & Assigned HR_Admins role to this user.
    5) Created authorization policy for user management with following selections
    Permission -> Create User.
    Data Constraints -> Selected "Users that are members of selected Organizations" & selected above Human Resource organization.
    Assignment -> HR_Admins role .
    now when i log into user1 i am not able to see Administration tab where i can select Create user.
    I am working on this issue for couple of days ,but not able to find the solution & have i missed some configurations ?
    Thank-You
    Rahul Shah

    Hi Rahul,
    I have tested your scenarion.. with below clause
    1) Created an organization -> Human Resource
    2) Created an Role -> HR_Admins
    3) Assigned HR_Admins roles as administrative role of Human Resource organization
    4) Created user1 with organization as Human Resource & Assigned HR_Admins role to this user. : default role All Users
    5) Created authorization policy for user management with following selections
    Permission -> Create User. :- *"Select ALL"*
    Data Constraints -> Selected "Users that are members of selected Organizations" & selected above Human Resource organization.
    Assignment -> HR_Admins role .
    In data constraints
    Organization Security Setting     Hierarchy Aware (include all Child Organizations)
    Now I am able to see the create user tab and, I can create user in Human Resource org only.
    If it doesn't work for you. Just assign "REQUEST ADMINISTRATOR" IN AUTH POLICY. Test the result.
    Also what is your OIM version?
    Test it with fresh data like new role name, org and user,

  • 11g reports calling from forms issue

    Hi,
    I am have installed the Oracle fusionware 11.1.4 version in windows XP ser2.
    I have configured the forms,reports server components and developer components.
    Forms are working fine. However i am getting the error while calling reports from the Forms.
    I am trying to convert the 6i forms and reports.
    The report calling code run_product is not worked, so i am changed the code to web.show_document.
    While running the form to call the report am getting the following error.
    REP-51019: System user authentication is missing.
    REP-50171: Authentication failed.
    Code is written in the form as shown below....
    v_show_document :='http://localhost:9002/reports/rwservlet?report='||:parameter.p_report_id||'.rep'||'&desformat=PDF&
    destype=cache&userid=SALIS/SALIS@SALIS&buffer_records=NO&debug_messages=NO&array=YES &query_only=NO&quiet=NO&RENDER=YES'||'&p_fromdate='||:CB_DUMMY.FROM_DATE||'&p_todate='||:cb_dummy.TO_DATE||'&lv_where='||lv_where||'&REPORT_ID='||:parameter.p_report_id||'&PARAMFORM=NO';
    web.show_document(v_show_document,'_blank');

    Check if you have SSO enabled:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_11/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_sso.htm#i1008966
    (this is the link for 10g but it may be the same for 11g. Look for the 11g link if this doesn't work for you).
    The report calling code run_product is not workedThat only works for Forms 6i. You should use run_report_object.

  • ADF BC 11g, Weblogic 10.3 - Deployment Issue with ADF Security

    Hi all,
    I know there are many many blogs about deployment of an 11g app using ADF Security to a WLS 10.3 server, however, none appear to be working for me.. or I'm not working with them! :P
    I've deployed an .ear file to the WLS 10.3 and this works fine - after following these steps
    http://www.freewebalbum.com/blogs/faces/bjanko/blogs.jsp?blog=bjanko20090127130431
    I then followed Steve's migration technique
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/credmig111100/index.html
    That all built correctly.
    I then tried to access the app via browser, entered in the user cred (created under Security Realms in WLS 10.3 admin console - user and groups).
    I attempted to login, and received an "Error 401--Unauthorized" error.
    I'll that I see in the server log is:
    [JpsWlsFilter.doFilter] setContextID to testApp
    I'm totally stuck, so any ideas would be awesome.
    Cheers,
    chris

    Just gave that a shot.. No dice unfortunately.
