15-n040ca wont display on a tv

i just got a used hp pavilion touchsmart model number 15-n040ca
i have been trying to use it to watch a movie on the tv, I went to the screen resolution where it told me to so that i can see it on the tv once the hdmi cord is plugged in and it doesnt give me any options to do so.
help me fix the problem

Welcome to the HP Forums. I see that can be a big issue, I too have been there where i was all set to put on a movie on my new tv and hooked everything up with the HDMI port and then nothing happened. To help me out a little more than you already have, and by the way thanks for the model number that is a great help. Could you provide me with the Product Number of your note book so I can double check some of the specs. As well what Operating system is your notebook running.

Now until I hear back from you. You may try a couple of these steps.
1) Try another HDMI Cable.
2) Try another HDMI input port on the TV.
3) Make sure your tv input setting are set to the right port and configuration.

I know they seem like easy steps but when I was dealing with my issue I was able to solve it. Let me restate that. My Niece solved it by in the input menu on the tv there was a HDMI setting I did not see or just did not bother with it. She hit the advanced setting and selected the alternate setting and boom I had picture.

I have an early 2011 Macbook pro and a hp 2511x monitor. The setup worked flawlessly before I went off to school. Now that Im back home my macbook wont display 1080p on the monitor, only 720p. While attempting to display 1080p the monitor screen is blank but I am able to move my mouse over to the external dispaly just fine, just no picture. My mac will display 1080p on other external monitors & the monitor will work fine with other computers or xbox on 1080p.
Just upgraded from 10.7 to 10.9 and still not working properly.

Pdfs wont display in firefox

Hi,
PDFs on my system work fine. They display in IE no problem.
In adobe reader, I've set the pdf to open in a separate window by unchecking the "display in browser check box"
After no luck with the firefox options Ive downloaded the add-on "pdf-download" and set it to display\open pdfs in a new window, but this still doesn't work - I get "the adobe acrobat reader that is running cannot be used to view pdf files in a web browser...try again"
I had some luck getting this to work by giving the user admin rights, but have failed to find a good consistent solution.
any ideas are much appreciated.

I found the solution firefox wont display the image if the image location doesn't start with web application image folder root.
So Instead of C:/Images/image.jpg it should be:
Inside TOMCAT/WebApp/WebApplication it should be:
/images/image.jpg instead.

Thanks for posting this. I've been having the same issues myself for a long time and I couldn't suss it out. Like your mac, my contrast setting had been increased too - must have accidently hit the keyboard shortcut. It was also affecting my vision too. The difference is massive.... thanks

Will display usps labels in paypal but wont display international labels

when I use usps labels in paypal the domestic labels display and I have no problems, but when I ship international labels it wont display its just blank, I can do both in safari but now paypal dose not support safari and I'm always getting errors, I want to continue using firefox but I cant figure out how to get the international labels to display

I think I've had similar stuff happen to me before. When Java updates it doesn't get rid of the old version; it just installs the newer version. There can sometimes be problems with Java using an older version and not the newest version, or there can be problems with Java getting mixed up due to the different versions; I think the latter problem is the one you are experiencing.
Try going to wherever you have Java installed (c:/program files/java or wherever) and deleting the older version(s).

Are you sure it's turning on? If the display isn't turning on and the buttons don't light up, it sounds like the player isn't powering on at all. Do you hear it playing music?
Have you tried leaving the player charging for a few hours, and then checking if it starts up on the PC? When it's turned on, does the system recognise it at all, does it see an unknown device for instance?

JSP Images wont display in firefox?

Hi,
I need some help. Firefox doesn't seem to display an image coming from a servlet going to a jsp page.
I have this login page. Once the user enters his/her username and password. The servlet will then validate if the credentials are ok.
Once its okay the servlet will forward the username and the image location to home.jsp. Then the home.jsp will render the page.
The problem is only the username gets display its only a text. While the image doesn't get displayed.
I checked the generated page it includes the location of the image but firefox wont display it?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see in the iPhoto window when iPhoto opens?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
Come on. Give us something to work with here.

Is the movie still buffering? you may have a slow internet connection. Music files require far less bandwidth than movies.

Firefox wont display search results on certain engines (Google, yahoo). IE works fine and Bing also displays

For the past 2 days, Firefox wont display search results on Google or Yahoo. Tried Bing it worked fine, tried Internet Explorer and it worked fine. All that gets displayed is a blank page, no errors or anything like that.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Copy region to page and now page wont display

I copied a region from one page to another page .... now the page I copied the region to wont display ...... get error "page cannot be found ...." the pages that wont display has 2 regions on it ..... anytime I set the copied region to display the page will not render .... if I set only the original region on the page to display it works fine .... but anytime I try to display the copied region, I get the problem .... can anybody tell me why this may be happening ????

I have enclosed some lines from the access and error logs that I think identify the issue ..... the 2 lines on either side of the asterisks (*****) below show the call to app=300 on the one hand and the error on the other .... is there any way from the error id info to determine which page item is causing the problem ???

There's no such thing a a FireWire to HDMI converter. Do you mean Mini DisplayPort?
Are you trying to extend your desktop onto the TV or mirror it? Have you gone to System Preferences, Displays, and either clicked the Mirror Displays option, or used the Arrangement tab to move the two screens into the correct alignment? There should also be a Detect Displays button somewhere in the Displays panel.

Mail Personal Mailboxes / folders wont display

I have recently upgrades from OS 10.4.11 to 10.5.6. After following a couple of discussions and Apple Support guides I have been able to get my Mail to open correctly with the Inbox, Send and Trash all ok, plus I can send and receive e-mail. But my own personal mailboxes and all the personal e-mails I have saved wont display. When I search : Home - Library - Mail - Mailboxes I can see all the mailboxes but what steps do I need to take so they will display in the mail viewer window again as normal mailboxes. I'd appreciate any help as I'm still a bit of a novice. Regards Peter H.

Since the folders are all still there for the various accounts, move those folders to the Desktop, and use Import Mailboxes from Mail´s menus to reimport Apple Mail from those folders. In the future always backup your data as my FAQ explains

Also note, that IMAP accounts are stored normally on the server, and not on your Mac. Moving from POP to IMAP is dangerous initially if you don´t have the mail folders backed up. If everything you have on IMAP, then the server backups will help you, depending on how frequently your ISP backs up your messages. You can still though then create folders on your machine locally to copy messages you wish to keep.

G5 System Wont display the machine serial number.

i just bought a referbished G5 dual 2.0 ghz. and the "about this mac" window wont display serial number. i even downloaded tools like "OnyX" to display system info. the srial number stays blank. it also does this in the system profiler. what do i do? and how do i get serial number in the software?

If the machine is refurbished, it may have had its logic board replaced post-manufacture. When logic boards are replaced, they usually do not have the serial number re-programmed into them. Apple have a utility to do so, but it seems they do not distribute it. (Except they leave it in repaired systems sometimes - http://lists.apple.com/archives/Darwin-userlevel/2005/Mar/msg00005.html )
You can find out the serial number of your system by opening the case side and looking at the bottom of the case.
