1920 x 1080 exports as 1745 x 1080?

I set up my project in 1920 x 1080 for an animation storyboard edit, but it exports at 1745 x 1080.  The sequence settings all say 1920x1080 in a D1/DV NTSC (0.9091) Pixel aspect Ratio, but even my work frames look like its actually 1745 x 1080.  Any ideas?

Thank you!  That did it.  I knew it was something simple!

  • No Quicktime 1920 x 1080 export

    I have a 1440 x 1080 project and I'm trying to export it as a H.264 file 1920 x 1080.
The export movie function will not allow this, nor will Adobe Media Encoder.
CS3 stops encoding and will give me the following errors.
    "No Output Generated!"
"Premiere is running very low on system memory, etc."
I can however export H.264 960 x 540 all day long with no problems.
    I can even export AVI at 1920 x 1080.
    For some reason I can't export H.264 files at 1920 x 1080.
I've read all the help and searched the forums a million times.
I've got my system memory, Page file, etc. configured as suggested by Adobe help documents.
Do you have any suggestions on what this could be and how to fix?????
    System:
    650 Workstation
    2 x 3.06 Xeons
    2Gigs RAM
    HD 1: System
    HD 2: Clips
    HD 3: Scratch
    CS3 3.1.1
    Quicktime Pro 7.3.1

I put one minute of HDV on a sequence (1500 frames) and exported to Quicktime using H.264 at 1920X1080 and it worked for me.
I have Quicktime Pro 7.4.1 though.
Unbelievably slow for an export of straight cuts. More than 5 times realtime. I used a data rate of only 7,680 (the default).
This may not help much, but at least you know it should be possible.

  • FCP always crashes on H.264 1080 export... why?

Hi. I am having problems editing 1080 video in FCP 5.1.4
    My source video: H.264, 1920×1080, 29.97 fps, 78.09 Mbps
I am trying to export this video with a single watermark into:
    H.264, 1920×1080, 29.97 fps, 6.5 Mbps
Every single time I hit export, it pops up and estimates 4+ hrs to save, so I let it go. But after about an hour in FCP just crashes completely.
    Why does this happen?
What settings should I have FCP set as for this type of export? Currently the sequence and project properties are just set to the default 1080i HDV preset.
Can some one point me in the right direction please.

I placed it up on pastebin here: http://pastebin.com/TiRUVeew
The crash doesn't show up in AME's logs. It actually happens with this 240p export no matter the source. I've reinstalled PPro CS6, and still no luck. Thanks a lot for helping!

  • Best Export Setting for TV 1080 with constant FPS

    1080 23.976fps  DSLR footage
Coming from Final Cut Pro,  I would export a ProRes 1080 mov file for my TV.  This would give me a high quality playback.
I have experimented with several export options in PP 6 and noticed choppy playback on my TV.  Upon closer inspection, the FPS appears to be changing with each frame.
What settings do I need for a constant 24fps with a high bitrate ?

4 Hours later, I am still waiting on the export of a 10 minute HD timeline.   The clips all have Magic Bullet on them but that's about all.    There must be a quicker workflow for this ?
My Final Cut workflow was the following...
Export a 5-10 minute ProRes HD Sequence takes about 5 minutes!   I then open theProRes mov file and convert to H264 with a smaller dimension. I use quicktime player to make this conversion.  This takes me no more than 1 hour.   Total export and conversion with Apple's Final Cut averages about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

  • Option to Export as 720 or 1080 is drained?

Im editing HD clips in iMovie 11 but when I go to Share>Export Movie, the 720P or 1080P options are usually drained. Sometimes 720P is available. I know if I export as Quicktime I can get around this usually but I still dont know what is causing this. Framerate is 30FPS. The flm is from a GoPro.

Thanks Steve - very helpful and much appreciated.
I am trying to stream the final file to my television over DLNA.
The TV accepts a number of formats, including those as follows:
    .avi (Divx3.11/4.x/5.1/6.0) 1920x1080
    .avi (XviD) 1920x1080
    .avi (H.264 BP/MP/HP) 1920x1080
    .avi (MPEG4 SP/ASP) 1920x1080
    .mpg (MPEG1) 1920x1080
    .mpg (MPEG2) 1920x1080
    .mpg (H.264) 1920x1080
    .mp4 (H.264 BP/MP/HP) 1920x1080
    .mp4 (MPEG4 SP/ASP) 1920x1080
    .mp4 (XVID) 1920x1080
Plus an array of other formats for .mkv, .asf, .wmv, .3gp, .vro, .ts, .tp, .trp
Whilst I could encode at 1920x1080, my Wi-Fi struggles a bit with this, so I will probably take it down to 1280x720.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.,
Will certainly take a look at your book.  I bought the "Classroom In A Book" by Adobe when I got the software and am amazed at how little detail is in it.
    Thanks again
    Peter.

  • Convert HD 1080 29.97 to HD 1080 25

    Hi,
I have a AE project with a frame rate of 29.97  HD 1080 that I need to convert to HD 25 1080 to be able to put my Canon XF 305 footage in it.
It is a framework for a video wall with only animations, but no images or videos  in it yet.
What is the best way to do this.
When I change the the format in the individual comp preferences to HD 25 1080 everything still looks ok, but I want to be sure that  I take the necessary steps
    to get the best result.
    Thanks! David

You can put footage of a different frame rate in your comp, or you can change your comp's frame rate to match your footage. Either way should work, but I would recommend just changing the comp's frame rate.

  • Another post about exporting at 1080 in "full HD"

I was thoroughly confused by explanations in this forum regarding whether imovie 08 can import 1080p and export 1080p without going through an intermediate 960*540 step. I decided to try it for myself. I like making lists, so please bear with me...
    Camera: Canon HF100
Computer: Macbook, osx 10.5.4, imovie 7.1.2
    Import settings: "Full 1080"
Export settings: AIC, "current" framerate, compressor preset "other"
I tried the following resolutions: "1920 by 1080 HD" and "current"
    I compared these three clips:
    1) The imported clip from the imovie events folder
    2) The exported "1920 by 1080 HD" AIC clip
    3) The exported "current" resolution (960*540) AIC clip.
    Results:
1 and 2 appeared nearly identical. I found a frame where someone's hair was pretty still (no motion blur). Found the same frame in both clips and command-` between them back and forth to compare. The only difference my eye could see was a small color difference, but I could not see any difference in resolution or detail.
3 was clearly worse than 1 and 2. To view 3, I set quicktime to view at double size. This way I can compare the three clips at the same size on-screen. My rationale for doing option 3 was that if imovie 08 indeed forced everything through an internal 960*540 step, 2 and 3 would be similar. But this was not the case.
Interestingly, exporting 3 was the fastest, and exporting 2 was pretty slow. This tells me two things:
    1) Imovie 08 must keep some kind of pre-rendered or pre-calculated copy of the project or of the clips. If this copy of the project or clip were a 960*540 resolution, this could explain why it is faster to export at 960*540. However, this is still confusing...where does it store this pre-rendered copy of the clip? I can not find any file in the imovie events subdirectories that when opened in quicktime, are of this resolution.
    2) When exporting at 1080p, Imovie must have to repeat some calculations on the original clips that it doesn't have to do at 960*540, as Jon Walker said in one of the earlier archived posts on this topic.
If there is interest, I will take the imported clip #1 and run it through imovie HD 6, and then export it to compare quality. But my own curiosity is satisfied for now.
I can also post images, but this test can be reproduced easily using any of your own clips.

OK you didn't mention that. If you left it charging at 5:30am it should have been full at 8:00am unless for some reason the charging didn't start.
I wouldn't worry too much for the moment, just keep an eye on it and make sure charging starts.

  • Exporting 1080 xdcam ex

    Hi
I set my sequence settings to 1080 xdcam ex and now when i go to export from FCP they do not have the option of xdcam ex to export from. Only 1080 HD xdcam
I create a custom setting for compressor of 1080 xd cam ex , square, full hd, and the exporting process says it is going to take 3 hours? My clip is only 4 minutes.. ??
I used this setting for the whole wedding and this is just the trailer what the heck how long will it take to export 2.5 hours?
So if you would please provide any possible solutions for the problem?

    Alright Sequence Settins are: 1920 x 1080 HDTV 1080i (16:9)
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
    Field Dominance: None
    29.97
Quicktime video settings XDCAM EX 1080p30
    Rate 48 KHZ
    16-BIT
THIS IS WHAT MY sequence is and rendered at. I am trying to EXPORT this using the current settings BUT what happens is:
When I go to export using quicktime movie it shows it needs 3 hours to export.. because it is re-rendering everyhting??
If i got to FINAL CUT PRO and go to Audio/Video settings my sequence Preset is: XDCAM HD 1080p30 VBR
WHich is differerent then that of the format I had used. Remember i used XDCAM EX
There is no option to change that setting in AUDIO VIDEO SETTINGS to XDCAM EX 1080 30
    ANY SUGGESTIONS!!????

  • Should I export using 1080 or lesser quality for DVD?

I have a Canon HD camera that  takes video.  My goal is to put my videos on a DVD.  When I go to Share and then click Media Browser.... Do I   convert my iMovie videos to iDVD at 1080 or is that a waste of time and  space?
When I hit Share and then Media Browser, it offers me many quality choices.  Which should I choose for my goal?
    thank you,
    Paul Neathery

I haven't made a DVD in years and don't know what types of compression iDVD uses to "make things fit".
That said you should make your own tests and see what works best in your workflow (as AppleMan1958 suggested).
iDVD was created when people still (mostly) used CRT's and a set top device where used for playback. CRT TV's aren't around much anymore and they had an "overscan" area that wasn't displayed during playback. Newer DVD players, like BluRay, can "upsample" from older DVD formats like those made using iDVD and present a pretty nice picture on a modern TV.
I know you want "quality video". But there is where you find the trade off. Years ago many camera companies sold us devices that recorded directly to DVD. Record and playback nearly instantly on your CRT display. They were expensive junk, IMHO.
    You want the bset quality?
Export as "true HD 1080" via QuickTime formats and use your computer monitor or Apple TV to your display for playback.

  • Shooting in 1080/24p - exporting as PAL

    Hi,
Does anyone have experience with shooting footage in 1080/24p mode, editing with FCP (1080/24p mode), and then exporting it as PAL 1080/50i?
Does the image get distorted or something like that?
I have a camera with 1080/60i and 1080/24p, and I need to send some DVDs in PAL
(or should I export it in FCP as 1080/24p and then use iDVD?)
    Many thanks
    ~y

how does FCP turn a 24fps clip into 25fpc?
You should not do this in FCP. Edit your 24p project and export it as it is.
Then you can take that master file, either to a facility that offers real time hardware based standards conversion, or do it in software -which will take quite a while.
Software standards converters include JES Deinterlacer (free) or Natress Standards Conversion ($100). JES will do a decent job but in the end, you get what you pay for.
Compressor will do it too, but it takes ages and I think the result is not really worth it. If you do choose to convert, have it done properly by folks who know what they are doing. It's not a good stage in the workflow to start trying to cut costs.

  • Source Video is 1080 but Export Option Brings it to 720?

I am trying to export an edited movie, using the Share > Master File (default), but when I do this, it seems to change the movie file from 1920x1080 @ 23.98 fps to 1280x720 @ 59.94 fps.  I've looked around the forums and on general internet searches and can't seem to find a solution.  I've attached 2 screen shots to show the original file as it was imported and edited (1080 @ 23.98fps) and then how it is shown when I try to export (720 @ 59.94fps).
I've also gone through with the export think maybe it was a glitch and it did actually convert the video to 720 @ 59.94.
Somewhat of a newbie to Final Cur Pro X, so excuse my potential ignorance here, but how can I make sure to export as intended in 1080 @ 23.98?  Thank you for any help you can provide.
Original video size as imported and while editing:
Export box dialog screen for the same video showing different:

Russ, that solution seems to have done the trick!  I created a new project within that same event, made sure to select to set the resolution/frame rate to the 1st clip (which was already the default sleceted setting), and saw that it was 1080/23.98.  Then went to share and saw it stayed at 1080/23.98 this time.
I assumed this would have automatically adjusted to the first clip (since that was what my settings were anyway - set to 1st clip), but evidently it did not.  It seems weird that it would avoid my clips source resolution snd frame rate settings and keep a pre-determined, default value for this.
Either way, it looks like this has resolved my issue.  In addition to directly importing a clip to start a project, I should start the project 1st and make sure the resolution/frame rate settings are what I want them to be, then import the files - thank you very much!

  • 1920 vs 1440 for HD Export...

I am exporting my project using Export>Using Quicktime Conversion>Options...>Size>Dimensions. My question is in the "Size" section.
    My footage from FCP6 is H.264 1440 x 1080 HD/16:9. I want to know if I can choose the size HD 1920 x 1080 16:9 setting.
The reason why I ask this is that my camera, a Canon HV20, is supposed to record at 1920 x 1080. After I converted my original footage to H.264 in Compressor it dropped the resolution to 1440 x 1080. I am unsure why but it still looks great. I would like to get a 1920 x 1080 image for my final output though.
The strange thing is although is that if I open up the Quicktime movie (Full Screen) I exported at 1440 x 1080, in the full screen it is 1920 x 1080!! What is going on here? Does it make a difference if I export at 1440 x 1080 vs 1920 x 1080?
    Regards,
    Rory

Thanks for the help. I had another related question for *Zak Ray*. Under Movie Inspector in the 1440 x 1080 Quicktime clip this is what it says:
*Format: 16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz*
    *H.264, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions*
    *Normal Size: 1888 x 1062 pixels*
Under Movie Inspector in the 1920 x 1080 Quicktime clip this is what it says:
*Format: 16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz*
    *H.264, 1920 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions*
    *Normal Size: 1888 x 1062 pixels*
So in this case with the Format and Normal size being identical (1888 x 1062), would it be any difference to export at 1920 x 1080?
The only difference is the Data Size at 329.05MB for the 1920 x 1080 clip vs 268.77MB for the 1440 x 1080 clip. I am confused by this. So basically if I want the absolute best quality, choose the 1920 x 1080 export setting right?
    Thanks Again.

  • Avchd-1080/50i problem

Hello! I have a sony HDR-AX2000 (avchd) , I film in 1080/50i FX and I import from the cam into final cut pro x(I also use apple prores).
Yesterday I noticed that my project properties were incorrect: format-1080iHD  resolution-1920x1080 rate-25i.
I filmed in 1080/50i FX (24mbps)... So.. how can I modify my project? Do I must import the footage another time?(I have the footage on the cam)
PS: I can also rec. in 1080/50i FH (17 mbps) or 1080/50i HQ (9mbps) or 1080/50i LP (5 mbps) or 1080/25 p FX or 1080/25p FH... Is one of these formats best for fcpx?
Sorry for my English, I'm italian!!! Write me soon... it is very important!!!

50i is a stupid nomenclature. It means your video is 50 fields, 25 frames per second. FCP rightly uses the nomenclature 25i or 25p to indicate media that's 25fps either interlaced or progressive. Your media is 25i.

  • Need help with export settings...Please

I am brand new to the camera I have but been using FCP for 6 years. The camera is a Panasonic HMC150 that records in the AVCHD codec. I have an Intel Imac 20 2.4 Ghz 4 gigs of ram. My audio/video settings for the sequence in FCP are as follows:
    Sequence pre set: Apple pro Res 422 1920-1080 60i 48khz (footage is 1080 60i)
I Log and Transfer with no problem, edit no problem.
My question is when I go to export the finished sequence to Idvd or DSP, what settings do I use?
I have exported to quicktime movie file with "current settings" and I have had NO luck in compleely burning a DVD. Is this the correct setting? what is everyone else using? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

DVD is standard definition. You have to compress your HD material to SD first. Crack open the manual for Compressor or DVDSP and you'll get loads of valuable info. The first 30 or so pages of the DVDSP manual are quite informative, and easy to read.
