2.0 processor hog - unusable for me!

Can anyone give me a hint why Encore 2.0 is completely unusable for me? Even simple projects go out to lunch once I have a single asset imported (one that doesn't even need transcoding). It goes out for hours unresponsive with 98%+ processor time.
I didn't have any problems remotely like this with 1.5. I have an AMD FX-55 with 1GB ram and well better than the rest of the system requirements. I'm stumped - and frustrated! Any help? Anyone have similar issues?
Thanks

Well, I'm having the exact same problem.
ABIT IC-7 motherboard
P4 2.4ghz processor
1GB RAM
XP SP2
80gb hard drive for OS and program files, Seperate 100gb drives for data.
Uninstalled 1.5 and installed 2.0
When I import an mpg as a timeline it stalls at about 75% and moves no more. Sucking up 159000k and 50% CPU processing power.
Now, I had started a project in 1.5 - just imported mpgs as timelines and a few chapter stops. I was able to open this in 2.0 and saved it immediately. When I tried to add a new mpg - same freezing.
So I start fresh (btw - the forced creation of a new project is annoying, esp when I'm just testing things). I'm able to import a 69mb mpg as an asset, and create a timeline with it. When I try to import an 861mb mpg as an asset it freezes at 70%. Some mpgs I can import but nothing happens when I try to create a timeline with it. And if I just leave the program alone, it hangs without me doing anything.
Then I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled. I was able to import all my mpgs as Assets except for one particular one. I even reencoded that project using different settings - still hangs. I was able to cancel the import (hoping it wouldn't crash the program) but as soon as it cancels the program freezes.
Importing a different clip only gives me the "abnormal condition" error every single time I try to import it. The only difference with this clip is that it has LPCM audio.
You don't have to search hard to find many complaints about 1.5. I was hoping some of those problems were resolved with 2.0 but the program's completely unusable now.

  • Processor/memory requirements for GB08 & Logic Express

So I am in the process of figuring out which IMac to get. The main purpose of the computer will be to make & record music. I will be starting out w/ garageband 08 to get my feet wet, though it seems to be able to do pretty much what I'm looking for....recording a band using multi & simultaneous tracks. I'm thinking of the 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 gigs of RAM.
I've heard that garageband is a "processor" hog and I want to be sure that I can do what I want without any issues. I think I would eventually move up to logic express too and I'm hoping that this imac could support that too.
Will I be ok or will I need a more powerful processor and 4 gigs of RAM? Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am new to macs and home recording? Thanks.

i would think so, it's very hard to offer a concrete answer for something like that. I was doing 8 tracks at once on a wee 800Mc iBook, there was someone in here with a quad Mac Pro that couldn't seem to manage a single track.
as i guess, i would attribute his problem to pilot error and say that you should be fine.
BTW, i made a habit of always logging out and back in before starting a session, a clean slate just boosts the odds that nothing will interfere.

  • Open tabs that go unused for a few minutes no longer work and cause me to lose the page it was on.

I like to keep many tabs open at all times, and recently Firefox has started messing up my tabs whereas I've never had a problem with this before. I believe it started after the latest Firefox update.
As mentioned above, if a tab stays open but unused for a few minutes while working in other tabs, the site's logo next to the page's title (such as Amazon's "a" logo with the arrow under it next to "Your Orders" for example) gets replaced with the spinning green ring that usually indicates loading, but it spins much faster than it does when it's actually loading something. When you click on the tab to open it again, it is simply a blank tab and I'm forced to manually hunt down the page I was on again. However, when I log off my computer or restart it while the tabs have the spinning green rings on them, the next time I open Firefox after logging back in to my computer, it opens all the correct pages and tabs, but only if I didn't click on/open any of the tabs while they had the spinning green ring, thus rendering them back to blank tabs. If I click on a tab with the spinning green ring (rendering it blank) and then log off/restart and open Firefox again upon logging back in to my computer, Firefox will have indeed lost that page's information and it re-opens as a blank tab, as it was when the system logged off. To top it all off, if any tab(s) is/are doing that fast-spinning green ring glitch, it makes whatever I'm working on run slower, such as making a video lag that I'm watching on Youtube. If I notice that happening I'm forced to go click on the tab (losing its data in the process) and manually go back to the page I was on again just so it will stop doing the fast-spinning green ring and I can watch my video smoothly, but this only lasts for a few minutes before those pages start the green ring glitch once again and I have to repeat the process. Another oddity of note is that this only happens to tabs I actually click on and open during each session. If I restart or log off my computer and log back in and start up Firefox again, the green ring glitch doesn't happen to any of the tabs I don't touch during my session. It only happens to tabs I actually open during that session, but it happens to every single tab that I do I open during that session.
This is getting highly irritating and it's making working in Firefox a huge hassle, as it's happening constantly. PLEASE fix this. Firefox has never done this to me before, so I don't understand why it's happening now. I haven't downloaded or installed any new plug-ins or add-ons to Firefox so I know that I've done nothing to the program to cause this.
Thank you for looking into this for me. I look forward to hearing back ASAP and finding a remedy for this problem. This glitch is driving me crazy.

    43,
Ink has a limited life span.  It is sad, I know.  The ink in the printer may just be "old" beyond it's actual age.
I have an old J6480 that I use only occasionally -- it is such a good printer that I keep it in spite of the fact that I might have to change out the cartridges more frequently than when the unit actually runs out of ink.
You might change out the cartridges so you are not coating the insides of the printer with the old ink.
If you are not going to use the printer very often, it does seem to help to keep it stored in a cabinet: dark and enclosed where there is not an abundance of light, dust, dampness, or temperature differences.  I keep the J6480 in a cabinet on the other side of the house and use it wirelessly about every six months.
You may have to re-run the cleaning operation a couple of times after you do change the ink; change out the cartridges, test, and then decide.

It is a nice way to say “Thank You” for the help.

  • Which of these 2 articles is correct on Pentium processor system requirement for Flash Player 10?

http://www.ehow.com/info_8526453_flash-player-10-system-requirements.html says that Flash Player 10 on Windows computers requires "a Pentium 4 processor running at 2.33 GHz or an Athalon 64 2800+ processor."
    However, http://www.downloadatoz.com/essentialware/adobe-flash-player/what-is-system-requirement-of -adobe-flash-player-10_g.html says:
"System Requirements of Adobe Flash Player 10:
    • Windows 2000, XP(SP2 and above), Windows Server, Windows Vista., Macintosh OS X, Linux
    • Intel Pentium 450MHz, AMD Athlon 600MHz processor (for Windows);...(for Mac)"
My ThinkPad PC does not meet the processor system requirement for Flash Player 11 or 12, and does not meet what ehow.com (above) says is the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10. However, it does meet what www.downloadatoz.com (above) says is the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10. Adobe.com has the operating system requirements for Flash Player 10, but no longer has the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10.
    My question is:
    (a) Is that "Intel Pentium 450MHz [or] Intel Core Dual" system requirement (from downloadatoz.com) for Flash Player 10.0 and that "Pentium 4 processor running at 2.33 GHz" system requirement (from ehow.com) for a later version of Flash Player 10 (like 10.1); or (b) is one of those two sources (ehow.com and downloadatoz.com) mistaken as to the processor system requirement for Flash Player 10 on Windows computers? If (b), which of those two is the correct Pentium system requirement for Flash Player 10?

What processor does your thinkpad have?
I know they now come with an Intel M, which is the functional equivalent of the Atom, and for ALL intents and purposes, meets the minimum for Flash Player 12 or 13 as long as it's 1.66gHz or faster.
Using, or even considering using, Flash Player 10 in a system newer than Windows 98 or 2000 (SP1 or 2), is unwise and unsafe, expecially if it isn't a "standalone" (not connected) system.

  • Is a Pentium(R) Dual-Core processor good enough for Adobe Premiere Pro?

is a Pentium(R) Dual-Core processor good enough for Adobe Premiere Pro?  Under system requirements, Adobe listed Intel Core Duo...not sure if this is just as good?

    Hi Brian,
Good question. Keep in mind that these are minimum system requirements. I have not had a core 2 duo for some time, but I recall that the performance was not that good at that time, and this was CS5.5, or so. If you are going to use this machine, be sure to work at lower playback resolutions until you can afford a more powerful computer.
Video editors typically have more powerful systems than the minimum system requirements. Check our hardware forum for details: Hardware Forum

  • Image Processor not working for me. Help!

In a nearby thread I've reached a stumbling block. Image Processor in CS4's PS is not working for me. I have a folder of psd's generated on the fly via File > Export > Data Sets as File... and now I'm trying to process those psd's to generate a JPEG of each. The only strange characteristic of the auto-generated PSD files is that there is no image preview available within the Finder. When a psd is selected the preview pane reads:
"This layered Photoshop file was not saved with a composite image"
I've verified in my Preferences > File Handling that image previews are always saved. (But I've been using PS for a long time and previews are always available with all my manually saved work.)
So here's what happens when I invoke File > Scripts > Image Processor...
In section 1 of the menu I select the source folder where the psd files reside
In section 2, I select 'Save in same location'
In section 3, I select 'Save as JPEG'
In section 4, I change nothing. No special actions. Include ICC profile is checked.
When I select run I get an error message: "Sorry, I could not process the following files:"
And then it lists what appears to be 3 lines per psd file in the source directory:
The path to the source dir
The name of the source dir
    The [source_dir]/[filename.psd]
    What am I doing wrong?

Check your Photoshop preferences and make sure you have set in the file handling tab "Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility:" to Always using the pull down menu. If that is not your current setting try setting that to see if the exported PSD files contain composite previews. When I use save as PSD on my system I alway see Photoshop save through up a popup window stating generating composite preview image.

  • Multiple Message Processors in IB52 for partner determination rule 13200137

    Hello Experts,
Can anyone please help me out in one of my issues? I am configuring service desk wherein I need to have only one layer of support team. One consultant for each module. I am using SLFN0001_ADVANCED. I am using rule 13200137 for partner determination. I am using IBASE for determining the message processor.
While determining automatic message processor, IBASE is not allowing more than 1 Message processor. So, all the messages created are getting allocated to single message processor only.
In TRN PFAC, rule simulation for the rule 13200137 is working fine, as per the Org model defined in TRN ppopma_crm.
Can anyone please help me out?

    Hi Deepak,
Hope, you are trying to assign more than one partner Function (Message Processor) to a service Desk Message. In such case, check for the max limit of partner function allowed for Message processor in the Partner Determination Procedure in your Transaction Type (SLFN).
The partner function category for the Message Processor Partner Function is Person Responsible. You may face issues in assigning more than one partner function of the same partner function category in a Transaction; If so, kindly refer to sap note 844503.

    Waseem

  • Need help choosing processor and display for X240 please

I'm about to purchase an X240 today or tomorrow and, after doing multiple forum searches and reading a 67-page X240 thread elsewhere, I would really appreciate some help choosing a processor and a display. If it makes a difference, I've decided on:
    *Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
    *8GB of RAM
    *256GB SSD
I intend to use the laptop for viewing/editing Word documents and Powerpoint presentations, streaming movies, and streaming recorded lectures. I'm not sure what lecture viewer/player my school uses yet, but I do know that it has options to play the lectures at accelerated speeds (1.5x, 2x, etc.) and that I will definitely need to use this feature. I'm not computer literate enough to discern whether the processor type has any effect on this. I will use an external drive if I need to download and save any lectures. I also plan to do some infrequent and basic photo editing with Windows Photo Gallery and MS Paint. I'm willing to pay extra for a smoother/faster experience, but I don't want to go with the i7 processor if it's overkill for my purposes or if there are other significant trade-offs besides price.
As for display, I'm torn between the regular HD (1366x768) IPS Non-touch, regular HD IPS Touch, and FHD IPS Touch.  Re: HD vs FHD, I've been using a 1280x800 13.3" non-IPS display for the last 6 or 7 years, and I'm pretty happy with it except for the limited viewing angles. Wouldn't regular HD on a 12.5" screen be a step up in resolution? A lot of the reviews of the regular HD on the X240 express disappointment with the "low" resolution, but I don't know if it's really that bad, or if people just have much higher expectations/standards than I do. I'm leaning towards regular HD because my glasses are so strong that increasing the sharpness of what I see also has the side effect of making things appear smaller (minimization error), so I'd probably have to mess with text/DPI scaling if I went with FHD, which isn't a perfect solution from what I've read. I'd only consider getting a touch version if I need FHD (since it doesn't come in non-touch), or if it somehow makes the HD display sharper or more vibrant--I have no intention of actually using touch features.
Apologies for the length, and thanks in advance for any advice! :-)

Actually I have been doing further research and I personally would either go with the 2.6GHz NON RETINA MBP or cough up the cash and go all out on a 2.6GHz RETINA MBP and upgrade the RAM to 16GB  and upgrade to 768GB Flash storage, I am a student as well so will get a discount which will help.
My fears are that if I get the Retina model I will not be able to upgrade it even further, I want to keep the computer for at least a good 5 years, during those 5 to 8 years will the current upgrades be enough to keep up with the top games and programs etc? Also I have read that repairing the Retina display model is very diffcult  and it can malfunction commonly, so I am guessing I should get apple care on top of it just to be sure with this particular model?
I am assuming that they they will bring out the new models out next year and all the chinks and bugs of the current Retina model will be fixed so to speak, of which I have read there is a few... Would it be worth buying the NON RETINA MBP and then selling and upgrading to an improved RETINA MBP model next year?
Finally if i back up my files on a hardrive would I have to use the USP SUPER DRIVE to install files onto the RETINA MBP or can i directly do this without the USP SUPERDRIVE?
    Thanks

  • Dual core 2.3 or dual processor 2.5 for FCP Studio 5?

I'm on the fence whether to buy a dual core 2.3 with a 7800GT card or a refurbished dual processor 2.5 with a x800 card. The saleman today was pushing the 2.5 b/c he said it was faster, though he said the x800 would run around 20% slower than the 7800GT. I had actually read that if anything the dual core 2.3 was faster. I've been looking all around (including barefeats.com) but can't seem to find much to confirm the graphics card statement. Thought I had read in a post here that they were also about the same speed. Is he right about this?
Untimately, I'm looking for something to run FCP 5 Studio and things like Boris Red and Combustion with. With the price difference being about $380 b/t the two options, which one would be faster and the better bet?
Thanks ahead of time for any help!

FCP doesn't care about your card. Much. Not now anyway, we have no idea what will happen in the next rev but the trend is toward offloading much of the work to the OS and GPU.
Buy what you can afford and buy what you think you need to make money now. You can always upgrade in 18 months when the second generation of the Intel machines are likely to be shipping.
Are you using Motion or Aperture? Different criteria. Dunno 'bout no Combustion, never been using it.

  • JSR 234 -- Media Processor Input Types for Sony Ericsson k790

    Hi,
This method 'getSupportedMediaProcessorInputTypes()' is supposed to return a string array of all the supported media processor input types. However, on the k790, it just returns null.
In the docs, to support JSR 234, you're required to support at least JPEG and Raw image input types, but those are not working; they throw the media exeception unable to create Media Processor for input type ...
    Any suggestions?

    Hello all, just registered,

I can see a Intel Pentium 4 630 3 Ghz Socket 775 800Mhz 2mb Retail Boxed on Ebuyer for £124 which is my price range but I'm not sure why it's good. I'm confused about why there are so many processors with so little apparent difference between the.
Also is Windows XP really the best software for a Pentuim 4? I prefer Windows 2000 but I read that XP takes advantage of Hyperthreading. BUt will I really notice any difference?
    Thanks

richmitch, the thread you referred to is specifically for the Mega 865
the 865PRO is a slightly different kettle of fish
Win2K should work with no problems, not sure about the hyperthreading though, MSI just say that they only support customers with WinXP though; you can still get drivers for Win2K though
having said that, Win2K and WinXP are still very much the same. if its the graphical look of WinXP you don't like, you can always set it to the "Classic" look, and it looks and feels like Win2K anyway
