2.2 Update Issue: Browser hangs

My previous problem was the browser frequently crashed on even simple websites.
Well, true to Apple's promise, they fixed that problem by replacing it with another - the browser just hangs in either Wifi mode or 3G/EDGE mode.
I've "rebooted" many times, with no improvement.
Any suggestions?

Make sure you have your apps in the application section in itunes und delete them on your phone. Then install them again.
You can redownload without paying again.

My browser hangs a lot. randomly. I have no reason why. I'd seen a previous post about a smiliar issue where the advice was to run the following series of steps. I did. Please tell me whether it's slow because of third party applications or not. And, of course, what should I do to fix it.

I've uninstalled ClickToFlash and have seen little if any improvement. Indeed, just coming back to this site led to this:
Safari can’t open the page “http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2453707&tstart=0” because Safari can’t find the server “discussions.apple.com”.
Not only is it having trouble loading pages with any complexity (ads, video, etc.), it also hangs ALL tabs while that one page fails to load. In other words, I cannot open a new tab and browse. Everything grinds to a halt.

JRE V6 Upd2 IE6 / Mozilla Browser Hangs Stalls

I've been trying to figure out why I get browser hangs for about 4years now. 3 Different computers, multiple OS installs and I WAS stumped. UNTIL NOW!
Every time I have installed a fresh OS... the browsers fly. No hangs, stalls. Fast page loads. Then within a few days browsers begin to hang or stall on page loading. Refresh no help. Requires browser close and reopen. Sometimes more than once.
I've always tried to pay attention to exactly when this occurs thinking its some software I'm installing since I usually re-install most of the same apps in the new OS build. I've thought maybe its related to the VIA chipsets since both my old PCs (3000XP not that old) used the same chipsets. Even bought a new LAN card to test if it was the onboard LAN. Same problem occured.
Microsoft patches maybe? Bellsouth latency problem? I've called Bellsouth a half dozen times over 4 years. On their suggestion...I've been through 3 LAN cables and 4 westell modems 2100, 2200, 6100. Back to a 2200 now.
I just built a new system. Biostar Tf550SE Mobo/ AMD X2 5600+/ 2GB Adata PC6400 DDR2...etc.
System extremely fast... and to my surprise NO broswer hangs. Instant page loads. FINALLY! I was just waiting for the slowdown to occur...but it didn't... UNTIL TODAY!!
What did I do differently? INSTALLED JAVA!!! I was trying to do an internet speed test and it required Java....so....I installed JRE Vers 6 Update2. Rebooted after install. IMMEDIATELY browser hangs in IE6 SP1 and Firefox2. IT FINALLY HIT ME after all this time what's been causing this for 4 years!!!
I checked my browser settings and all were ok. Took forever for MSN home page to come up. Ocassionally it loaded a bit slower than normal but 6 of 10 times it would just hang on IE6 and Firefox2. I Immediately uninstalled JRE and rebooted. Guess what? PROBLEM FIXED!!
I began searching for references to Java and browser hangs and found LOTS of topics....mainly involving older versions but some discussing V6 Upd2 so....I guess this issue still exists!
Is there ANYONE using JRE who has had this problem and cured it WITHOUT uninstalling Java. Would be nice to be able to run java based applications. Some pages don't work correctly without it.
At this point however....I'm tempted to keep it OUT of my programs list unless I go to a site that absolutely needs it. Then I'll install it, do what I have to ...and IMMEDIATELY uninstall it again.
There has to be a better solution than this though....
Anyone???

I appreciate your response. I wasn't feeling secure with just msft java vm running and certain pages need jre...so I gave it another go.
I re-installed JRE V6Upd2 and it seems to be functioning ok for the time being. Occassional minor hangs but not as bad as the first install attempt or on my old PCs which would just stall out and require browser close and re-open (as did this one after the first install).
On my old machines running J2SE 1.5.0 the stalls/hangs were occuring several times daily...not limited to any particular site and happening at random. (also occurred with 1.4.2).
I could find no other possible cause for this after exhaustive process of elimination. I even kept my machines limited to minimal software and drivers Post fresh installs to make sure it wasn't my software environment.
I'm not saying with 100% certainty Java was/is the cause...but it certainly was coincidental that after 3 days of super fast browsing on this new machine I installed JRE and all of a sudden the stalls and hangs began occurring.
I didn't mean to attack Java or Sun in my thread...but was extremely frustrated. After building 3 new machines from scratch....and banging my head against a wall for near 4 years looking for a random browser stall problem neither I or my ISP provider can find....all of a sudden my new dual core machine develops the same issue after 3 days of fast browsing...and the last thing I did prior to the browser hangs popping up ....was install JRE.
Again...the problem seems to have resolved after a 2nd install of JRE and all browsers (IE6, Firefox2, Opera9) seem relatively fast with almost no hang or stalls...except a few slowdowns that are site specific. (MSN for one over the past few days).
Note: I have optimized the TCP/IP stack to correct for a small W2k default Rwin of 17520.
New RWIN is 127776 (multiple of mss). MTU is 1492 for PPPOE, ACKS 2 and TTL 64. These settings have given me a 500kbps increase over stock W2k settings for a speed of 3100kbps down. This increase in DL speed has most likely helped with loading of java intensive pages. ( I had the same tweaks in my old PCs as well with stalls still occurring).
Hopefully the browser stalls I was experiencing on this new machine post JRE update install...were due to a bad (first) install...or were just very coincidental. Also Hoping once I install JRE V6 Upd2 to my old machines it will solve the problems there as well.
Will advise if the issue returns in this new PC or if it fails to resolve in the old ones once I install the JRE update.
I do have a specific suggestion regarding runtime updates.
Since this new machine had a fresh install of JRE I don't know if the way java auto updates are handled has changed...but ...in the past it was possible to install several versions at once. If this is still the case...please see my suggestion below....
Since java installs and does a monthly check for updates...it might be a good idea to re-design it so it WON'T install a new version until the old one is un-installed. I've worked on several machines for people and found 2 and 3 instances of old J2SE / JRE in their add/remove list. This is hardly a secure situation.
If JRE Updater finds a new version it should ask if you want to update and if you say yes...it should not download and update to a new version on the fly.
It should take you to the Sun Java Download page and allow you to manually download the new version for offline install. Then when you click on the Setup shortcut (on the desktop or in my documents list) Setup wizard should scan the system and advise of a previous version and warn to uninstall it first (or better yet...do it automatically)...and not allow you to continue until the old version is gone.
This would be a much more secure way of handling updates and avoiding mutliple installs of java since the average person doesn't know any better and will simply click on "install update."
Just a thought.

i'm writing to you from a PPC G4 (AGP graphics) that will self-destruct by the time i switch off and (attempt) to re-start tomorrow. i will then need to do a re-install, just to see if i have gotten any replies (grinds teeth to the root). it will probably be my 8 th re-install in the past month. i just can'st takes no mores, Cap'n
<exasperation>deep breath... each time i have done a clean install, zero-ed all data when erasing (7 times over, on this occasion), repaired permissions before and after each software update, and followed every advice i could find via google to pre-empt another "Error: underlying task reported failure on exit" and the inevitable hanging grey screen; i have earned nothing but another Disk Utility report of the same problem. my HD seems to be OK - Disk Utility and Disk Warrior both say it's "verified" by SMART (although i've read this could be no assurance...). it's 40 GB, nothing else installed but NetBarrier; nothing saved on it (just 3GB of OS).
i've searched this forum over the last weekend and come across a diverse range of methods in resolving software update issues. i have tried downloading the security update and safari 3.2 directly from the site and bypassing Software Update- to no avail (but noticed that they are quite larger in MB than via Software Update??).
the one suggestion the intrigued me was installing the update via Terminal. why would this be any different? the worst thing about this is that there is no universal way that'll work for all, just individual solutions for different macs??? could my problem be exacerbated by using the double layer (double the permissions to fix?) of a Panther OS with Tiger Upgrade disk?
when i last tried to resolve the "error" with safe mode, fsck and DU Repair Disk/Permissions, which initially failed, i resorted to Disk Warrior, which re-built the directory, and "fixed" the HD. when i re-tried fsck it said the HD was "ok", but i still had the "error: underlying task..." on DU?
is there an issue with the Security Update oo8 because it's PRIMARILY for 10.5 and not Tiger? why have some encountered this problem and others escaped any seeming conflicts ? is this problem also caused by JAVA updates (there are, after all, 4 updates!)

looking at your suggestion to check /Library/Startup items in the concurrent thread ("Help needed after installing Security Update 2008-008"), i recalled that the only thing i have in this file system is 3 folders concerning Intego, NetBarrier and Virus Barrier. one of these contains the NetBarrier x4 daemon which has no image, just the apple "pencil, ruler, pen on paper" "A" image. i don't think it correctly downloaded, but this the case in every instance.
i'm running netbarrier x4 10.4.5 updated and downloaded on installation. intego Support says that there should be nothing in my "Startup/Login items". i thought they meant Login items (users>login items) because when i take the folders out of my "/Library/Startup items", NetBarrier fails to "initialize".
intego is now on newtbarrier x5, but they say x4 is fully compatible with Tiger???
my baby maybe getting on, but it's strong enough, i just need to know what's bugging it!

Unable to Resolve Windows Update Issue in Windows 8.1

I recently, as far back as 1 month ago, began experiencing issues with the update service under the Windows 8.1 OS platform.
I found that I was having to repeatedly run the Windows Update Troubleshooting Tool. This appeared to fix the issue with each run of the tool, but eventually I'd have the same problem receiving updates again. My problem is as follows:
1. Windows Update service hangs during register analysis.
2. Unable to reset (stop or restart) wuauserv.
3. Unable to reset (stop or restart) Cryptserv.
4. Unable to reset (stop or restart) BITS.
5. Unit recently, was unable to connect to internet from Desktop GUI, but was able to connect using Metro GUI.
I'm not sure is there was a recent update that caused this issue, but I can no longer download updates for my system, nor can I successfully run the Windows Update Fixit tool.

Now your desktop Internet Explorer can't connect Internet.
You receiving the same updates again and again.
If I am right, please check that update's installation status from update history.

Question: Which keystroke(s) combinations will close a (or all) browser program(s) screen(s) without the use of the mouse? Did a little research on this and found that Alt+F4 might work, but did not.
Symptoms: My browser in combination with my OS hangs. This could be the result of insufficient memory. Or many other combinations of problems.
What actually happens: Mouse and graphics freeze but keyboard is functional.
What I would like to do: Need a easy quick simple 1 or 2 step browser closing via the terminal.
My hope: Not to have to reboot computer and by closing down the browser my mouse will start functioning again.
I am aware this would be a temporary work around and I am in process of solving the root cause. But note this happens completely at random Ref1. For computers, the restore button may be a hardware button, found on some laptop computers. Ref 2:
What worked: Alt+Ctrl+F1 which put me into a terminal command mode which required a whole series of logging in's and rebooting the computer. Lengthy.
Will indicate which answer is successful.

Does it hang with other browsers?

Lumia 720 black- OS update issue and Apps download...

I am using Lumia 720 Black, Everythings seems to be oky, but I cannot download apps from store, though I congfigured my Microsoft account. Nor I am able to download new software updates.

• What exactly happens when you download them?
• Is there any error message or code?
• Which connection are you using? Wi-Fi or cellular data? Do you have a stable internet connection?
• Were you able to browse any websites or access any internet-based apps using your phone?
For the software update issue:
• Where are you located? See: Software Update for Nokia Lumia with Windows Phone 8 to know the Lumia Cyan update availability in your country.
• What's the current OS version and firmware revision number of your phone?

를 release하지 못하고 OS의 kill 명령으로 kill조차 되지 않을 경우
조치 방법이다.
Problem Description
이 문서는 다음 OS 정보와 Oracle version인 경우에 해당한다.

문제 발생 당시의 증상은 다음과 같다.
- arch-process doesn't release redolog files
- arch-process doesn't die after database shutdown
- arch-process can't be killed
genclntsh 수행 시 hang 상태이다.

또는 이 문제로 인하여 ORA-600[2103] 에러가 발생하기도 한다.
이 에러가 발생하는 원인은 IBM AIX5L 64bit, 32bit OS 이슈에 있다.

Solution Description
OS AIX5L ML4.0(5.2.0.40)의 bos.up / bos.mp / bos.mp64 fileset level을
갖는 JFS2 file system을 갖는 경우에 해당한다.
AIX 5.3 APAR IY59387은 IY58143에 포함되어 있다.
JFS2 file system에 Heavy I/O activity가 발생하면 database process에
HANG 문제를 야기시킬 수 있다. 이 때 database process가 kill -9
명령으로 kill되지 않는다. 데이타베이스를 SHUTDOWN하여도 Process가
계속 살아 있게 된다.
Process에게 SIGKILL 함수가 issue되었지만 영향을 주지 않게 된다.
Process를 제거하는 유일한 방법은 OS를 reboot하는 것이다.
문제를 예방하는 방법은 IBM APAR-FIX IY59082 를 적용하는 것이다.
이 APAR는 bos.64bit 5.2.0.42에 포함되어 있다.
Fix :
Need to install the IBM APAR-FIX IY59082, this APAR is included on
bos.64bit 5.2.0.42.

The install was from my original Dell XP Pro-SP1 'Reinstallation' CD along with the complete MS XP-SP2 download that I burned to another CD. I also had all the latest Dell drivers from their website burned to a CD. Install went as follows:
- Format HD
- Install XP Pro SP1
- Install SP2
- Install Dell Drivers
- Obtain any MS patches from their site
- Install Office
- Update Office from the MS website
- Install iTunes
- Tweak MS settings
- Install many software programs
- Make an interim Image of system and store to ExHD
- Install other software programs (mostly security programs)
- Make another 'complete' Image to ExHD
- Restore backup data and music
After additional testing last night, I determined that it is not iTunes at all (or to blame). I get intermittent hangs/freezes/pauses in other media players (WMP, etc.).
Seems that something is causing the 'System' process to periodically jump up in CPU %age (though not more than 30-50%). Even this relatively small amount is enough to pause the playback of music or video, hang the mouse movement for a brief moment, or delay a menu opening. All very subtle - you have to be looking for it to notice (except with real-time audio-video, which is quite noticeable whenever this happens).
I had this problem a year ago, which is why I reimaged then and stayed with SP1 on the advice of Dell and Webroot. I'm stumped as to where to look for the culprit. Every time I go back to the original HD with SP1, everything runs smoothly. Some sort of system call is generating this complete pause....
I'll be limited in my Internet ability for the next several days, so I may be out of touch until Friday. I'll keep testing and playing with the limited equipment I take along....
Any thought you or others want to toss out, I'll attempt when possible.

Error message after updating Nokia Browser.

In my Nokia X2-02, after updating Nokia Browser, it gave me an error message: Conflicting applications, Show items?
Please fix this bug, as I have tried resetting all settings and updating the software via PC.

This is a known problem which happens sometimes: there's a new versio of browser available, but the application get corrupted during the download/installation of the app and stops working. Updating the device SW with Nokia Suite does not unfortunately fix the problem.. The only sure way to have the issue fixed would be to take the phone to a Nokia Care service point for refurbishing. http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations/
Another possible workaround for the problem is to use e.g. Opera Mini instead of Nokia Browser. (you can install it with Nokia Suite even though the Nokia Browser on your phone is now non-working).
I have tried to push Nokia to release a new SW update for most device models which would correct the issue without the need to refurbish the device at a Care Point, but the latest conclusion was that the problem does not occur frequently enough to create such fix... Except for a few very latest devices should be getting it in near future

I'm still not clear why Apple only issued security updates for 10.6 and later. I assume they think we should all update our operating systems or maybe they are just focusing on the majority of users?
Apple has had a long standing policy of only supporting the current and previous operating system releases. Whether they decide to make an exception for even older releases is anyone's guess.
You can send them feedback to express your opinion.

As far as is known, it does affect older unsupported releases. Disabling Java in your web browser is the current preventive approach (and that is a community derived approach)

2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

Update a browser URL without reloading the page

Is there any way to update the browser url from flash without
reloading the page?
My main interest is in being able to use flash to change the
url variables to reflect what is currently being displayed in the
swf.
ie.
http://www.blah.com?frame=0 might be set to
http://www.blah.com?frame=10 when the swf reaches frame 10,
allowing the user to go directly to frame 10 if they return to the
page later.

You can try a technique that is used by web designers to
prevent back button actions. Through JavaScript you can write
strings after hash "#" - like bookmarking (anchors) and then read
this variables. The advantage is that page doesn't reload and
bookmarks are saved in the browser history (back button issues).
