2 color PDF shows 4 color

We have been using 2/c file for Indesign CS2 document (Magenta & Black). However we were able to findout, select the Output Preview menu in Acrobat and turned off Magenta and Black it shows the rest of the color. InDesign shows by using Seperation Preview menu.
Now we have almost 30 chapters for this title. I'd like to know is their any option to check these PDFs after generated from InDesign at Batch mode or Watch folder mode. I tried using the Preflight option in Acrobat "Document generates more than two plates" but it indicates the document has 4/c.
It shows the "Indexed color" and "Black" when we checking the "Images" and "Color spaces" under the Overview in Preflight menu after executed the profile. For 2/c title we can ignore the Indexed color (2 color combination). But it doesn't show how much percentage has been used for CMYK. I have attached the pdf file for your reference.
Pitstop doesn't show the document has more than two plates.

It's a bit hard to work out what is happening here, but it sounds like you might be getting confused by the fact that the Output Preview in Acrobat always shows CMYK, whether it's greyscale, RGB or only one of the process colours.  If you want to try automating it ask on the Acrobat forum, but Pitstop is probably your best bet here.
If you have an Indesign document with only black and Magenta swatches and you don't place anything or use the registration swatch you will never output PDFs that will print anything but these two swatches.

  • Publisher pdf won't show colored text

Using Reader 11.5 and Publisher 10 in Windows 7. Text colored red in a text box to differentiate it from the black text in Publisher only shows up as a shade of grey when file is saved as a pdf. Color graphics are saved in their colored form as expected.  Why??  How do I get Reader to show the text color like it does the pictures?

    Hi,

  • Color PDF not showing colors

One of my users with Acrobat 8 Standard is having issues with color pdfs. The pdfs are drawings and when I open them, I see all the colors of what the original was. However, when he opens the same pdf, it only shows in black and white. This is happening on all the pdfs of drawings we have. What setting(s) do I need to make to fix his problem?

    >when he opens the same pdf
    Using what?
What are your current settings (in Distiller, I think) when you create?

PDF/X-4 is an ISO printing standard. It is Adobe's recommendation for all printing.
Press Quality produces PDF with live transparency, but all colors are (prematurely) converted to a particular CMYK color space with no ICC profiles (spot colors can be preserved depending upon your Ink Manager settings). You are effectively locked into a particular CMYK printing condition. We do not recommend this!
High Quality Print maintains transparency and some color management. By default it does no color conversions - that's great - but it also doesn't provide all the source profiles by default, only those of placed content that have such profiles associated with them. You could change this to include all color profiles, in which case you are only a small step away from PDF/X-4.
Again, we most strongly recommend PDF/X-4.

  • Publisher to PDF - saves colored text as gray?

For some unknown reason, when I save a Microsoft Publisher document as a pdf, anywhere there was colored text is gray in the pdf version.  Colored boxed show up correctly.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader twice with the same result.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?  Thanks!

I would suggest finding a forum for MS Publisher since it uses it's own PDF engine. It more than likely has something to do with that step. Reader is just seeing the results.

  • Convert Color PDF to Grayscale using Preflight in Acrobat 9 Pro

Has anyone posted a step-by-step procedure to convert color PDFs to grayscale? I've unsuccessfully been trying to use the new Preflight dialog to do this. This is the procedure I tried:
    1) In the Preflight dialog, Create New Preflight Fixup.
    2) Fixup Category: Color Spaces, Spot Colors, Inks. For Type of Fixup: Convert Colors.
    3) In the Conversion settings tab, chose All Objects, Using Any Color (except spot colors), plus All Objects, Using Spot colors(s).
    4) For Destination, I chose a grayscale destination Dot Gain 25%.
    5) After clicking OK, I selected the new profile and clicked on the Fix button, and saved the file.
Nothing happens, and the colors don't change.
If anyone can explain what I'm missing, I would greatly appreciate it.

Refer to Acrobat 9 Help PDF (installed with Acrobat 9 is installed).
Review the  discussion for Exporting PDFs in Chapter 5 of this Help PDF.
The PDF is also available on Adobe's site.

  • Acrobat 9.31 / Browser Plugin - Printing Color PDF as Black and White?

I have an interesting issue for the masses. For a couple of our users (it encompasses both Windows XP x64 and Windows 7 x64), they are having an issue where when they attempt to print a PDF directly from Acrobat's browser plugin (in this case, IE8 is the browser), and attempt to print a color PDF to a color printer, the PDF comes out in black and white.
    Here's some other consistents:
    * Printing to a network printer, using the print driver Canon C5180-H1 Ver.2.0JM. The problem spans across two different print servers (we use a different one for XP clients and 7 clients, but the driver is the same)
    * When the user clicks on "Print As Image", it does work (but doesn't look quite as good)
    * When the user saves the PDF to a file and then opens it in the full Acrobat 9 Pro application, it does work (but this is a bit annoying)
Can anyone suggest some other things I should check and/or reasons that this might be happening? I'm at a total loss to explain it but will happily accept suggestions on ways to fix it.
    Thanks!

Following up to see if anyone has some solid ideas on how this might be happening.
    Thanks!

  • Preserving Black color values when converting color PDF to grayscale

I opened a full colored PDF document (exported from InDesign using Profile: Euroscale Coated v2) in Photoshop and tried to convert it to grayscale (image > mode > grayscale) and noticed that the black color values changed. text for example that was 100% black in the PDF document became a screen of 91% black.
is there a way to preserve color values when converting full color PDF documents to grayscale?
or in other words WHICH is the correct way to convert full color PDF documents or full color InDesign files to grayscale?
I am using Adobe CS 3, Acrobat 8 Professional, on Mac OS 10.5.5

Before you open the PDF in Photoshop, set PS's Color Settings to Photoshop 5 Default Spaces. When you open the PDF set the Mode to Grayscale in the Import dialog. Just remember to reset your color settings when you're done.
Edit: Also, if you want to match black percentages as well as 100% black, set the Photoshop Color Settings to Photoshop 5 Default Spaces with the Gray working space to Dot Gain 20%.

  • Covert color pdf to a black & white

Does anyone know how to convert a color pdf into black and white? We're having some space issues on our server and have some documents that were scanned in color that we would like to convert to black and white to reduce the file size. I am using Adobe 8 Standard. I've tried printing the document to the Acrobat Distiller and choosing black and white in the print options, but it still prints it in color.

Have you done a search of the forum? There have been a few topics on this in the last few weeks.
There are options in PDF Optimize that some have tried to use and there is also an option under TOOLS>Print Production that has some options along this manner.
I have found that the conversion to B&W does not always seem to work as you have found. These other options might help. Bill

  • Convert color PDF to Black in Acrobat 9

I have need that I have not been able to find an answer to. I have a fairly large color pdf (over 400 pages of drawings in color) and I would like to turn all the colors to black. Everything I have been able find in my research to do this has to do with converting a color PDF to black & white (grayscale), I do not want to use grayscale, I need the colors to be converted to black. Any color other than white I want to be black. I realize that you can print to black and white but that will not work for me because there are a couple of pages in the PDF that are color models that I will reinsert back in to the PDF after I have converted the PDF.
If anyone can help in this endeavor it would be greatly appreciated.

For Acrobat 9 Pro it is:
    File > Export > PDF/A

  • Convert a color pdf to BW

How do I convert a color PDF to black and white?
I am using Adobe Acrobat X version 10.1.7.
Is there an easy way to do this?

As I said, I have not had much success that way either. Pro had the preflight conversion to Grayscale. Since you have Std, you may have to simply use separate graphic tools to convert to Grayscale and then recreate the PDF. If it is a scanned PDF, then you could simply save to a TIFF, use a graphic package to convert to grayscale (I use Irfanview for this type of simple task) and then move the TIFFs back into a PDF. If you have a mix of graphics and text, you may have to deal with a bit more. If the print converts the text, but not the graphics, you might try extracting the graphics (bitmaps I hope) under the tools menu. Convert those graphics to grayscale and then replace the color images with the new ones. (work on a copy of your PDF just in case something does not work)

  • How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)

How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)??? creative cloud cs6... Acrobat etc

Hi, just wanted to add my 2¢
I've been in publishing over 25 years and live in Acrobat for making my final files. Currently with a newspaper.
    This is what we do:
    • Tool Panes > Print Production Window
    • Select CONVERT COLORS
    • Midway down under OUTPUT INTENT, check Convert Colors to Output Intent
    • In the associated drop down menu, I choose (because I'm printing on newsprint) DOT GAIN 20% – If you're working on better stock, choose a lower dot gain percentage.
    • Click OK – this will convert the file
    • Save
Note: this affects the file you're working with. Make sure that you use this method on a COPY if you want to retain the original color version.
I think if you compare my method to the Preflight method, you'll see a tighter contrast and better blacks. I've always felt the Preflight method left continuous tones a little muddy.
Now if there was only a way to add that to ACTIONS...!
