  • 2 ipod nano's SAME songs on both...HELP

My husband and I bought ipod nano's at the same time. During set up, using my laptop, we thought that we had done everything correctly. What has happened is that all of his songs are on my ipod and all of mine are on his...in other words our nano's have the EXACT same songs on them! How can we correct this????? We have totally different taste in music and feel "cheated" with our song space.

Change the the update option on your iPods "automatically update selected playlists only". You can each make a playlist of your own with your own songs in it and each iPod can be set to update from it's own list. Make your playlists "Smart Playlists" and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod Nano (around 1800MB for a 2G). For more information have a look at this link:
How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Dont want soe songs to play random in IPOD

I have some songs on the ipod that are kids songs and I dont want to have them play in my Adult random play.. Is there a way to have them in the pod and NOT play in the random sequence.
    thanks

One way is to (1) create a new play list that has ONLY the songs that you want to hear. (2) Then set the playlist to play in sequence/random/loop. (3) Update the iPod with the new playlist.

  • IPod starts with same song in car

I use my new iPod for music when I drive my car.  Whenever I plug my iPod into my USB port, it always starts off playing the same song, which happens to be the first song on my list.  It's so annoying.  I do have my songs on shuffle.  All I have to do is press next and it starts shuffling fine.
By the way, this never happened with my iPod Nano.
Is there any way to get my iPod to shuffle a random song instead of it playing the one that is first on the list?  Any help?

I discovered on the radio itself that there is a Repeat Button on Button #6.  I stumbled on it by accident...it wasn't in the User's Guide.  Guess I answered my own question!

  • Ipod resets on same song

My iPod always resets itself at the same point of the same song without fail. I've manually reset the iPod, resynched, and still the same result. Before I delete the track and redownload, has anyone ever encountered this? This track plays fine in iTunes by the way.
In case you need to know, the track is Vermicide from the disc Amputechture by The Mars Volta. And it wasn't downloaded from iTunes, I used another (russian) site.
As an aside, my album artwork does not sync with 50% of the music. This will be another post but I thought I'd put it in here as well.
    Thanks all!!

As mentioned, you need to be using the correct iTunes version (iTunes 7 or later for the 2nd gen nano). Also, have you tried going through the "5 R's"? If not, you need to try them. Save the restore for last.

  • Why does my iPhone 3G/iPod repeat the same song over?  I can't get any playlists or albums to play...

Why does my iPhone 3G/iPod just play the same song over and over?  I cannot figure out how to get it to shuffle or play through an album or playlist...  It just started doing this randomly and it's very frustrating!

You have probably Repeat turned on.  See the top of p. 77 of the User Guide.

  • IPOD KEEPS REPEATING SAME SONG

ipod 16GB keeps repeating same song

While playing any song on your iPod, tap the artwork to bring up the scrubber bar and additional controls. On the left hand side is a option for repeat. You want to make sure this icon is white (meaning it is set to Off). If it isn't tap it either one or two times to change its current setting.
    Any luck there?

  • Is the same song in both libraries?

As you will be aware you can have details displayed at once for both your itunes library as well as what's on your ipod. If you aren't putting your entire library onto the ipod as well it would be very help full to have a column which might just have be an asterisk to tell you if the selected song was also in the other file.
I don't know if I missed seeing this feature in it or not but I would think that its a pretty basic thing that would help when you have your ipod connected to your computer. Please advise.

uncheck songs that you do not want to sync onto your ipod...

  • I have 2 itunes accounts on 2 different computers.  Is there a way to merge them so I don't have to buy the same song on both accounts?

I have 2 different itunes accounts.  I have songs on the 2nd account that I want on the first but I don't want to have to buy them again.  Can I merge the accounts into one or is there a way to transfer the songs to the 2nd account?

authorize iTunes on both machines for both iTunes accounts. exchange songs using e.g. home sharing.

  • Ipod re-syncs same songs everytime

My itunes somehow got damaged and rebuild itself a few weeks ago. When it finished I had to reset some things with the way itunes displays and plays my music. Also somehow it duplicated a couple of my playlists. I deleted the duplicated playlists and reset all the diplays back. Now it works fine.
The first time I synced my 160g classic is seemed to sync fine. The second time it came up with notice that it couldn't sync to the ipod and I had to reload the software and reset the ipod. I did this and it reloaded my 16,000+ music library. (I have the latest itunes and ipod software)
Now everytime I sync the ipod it reloads the same 60 songs everytime! These songs play fine in itunes and on the ipod. Anybody have a suggestion on how to stop these songs from reloading to the ipod everytime it syncs?

Update- I found that if I go in and change something in the song info (genre) then the songs reload once and then stop the constant reloading. So I guess something about the info on these songs got wacky when my itunes library rebuild.
    Thanks

  • I bought my friend's old ipod, she wants some songs back but they won't show up on iTunes. How do i get them back?

My friend upgraded to a touch and in turn gave me her old classic. She put a whole bunch of music on there from different cd's but after seeing what she still had on it she realized she lost some of those songs on her computer. I tried to get them off with the transfering puchased music, but they won't come off! She bought this music fair in square and would like to have them back. How in the world do i get them back to her?

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.
As the songs came from her computer in the first place, so they should still be there and should be included in her regular backup copy of her computer.
You need to restore the ipod, erasing all of the music as you have no legal right to it.

  • IPod stuck on same song!!!

I currently have about 100 songs on it, but ut will only allow me to play one song, which is always the last song I transfered to it. What can I do in this situation? Thanks.
