I bought my friend's old ipod, she wants some songs back but they won't show up on iTunes. How do i get them back?
My friend upgraded to a touch and in turn gave me her old classic. She put a whole bunch of music on there from different cd's but after seeing what she still had on it she realized she lost some of those songs on her computer. I tried to get them off with the transfering puchased music, but they won't come off! She bought this music fair in square and would like to have them back. How in the world do i get them back to her?
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases.
As the songs came from her computer in the first place, so they should still be there and should be included in her regular backup copy of her computer.
You need to restore the ipod, erasing all of the music as you have no legal right to it.

i purchased songs via my ipod touch. when I sync'd my ipod touch with my computer, the songs I purchased disappeared into a black hole... how do I get them back without having to repurchase?
On your iPod Touch, open the iTunes app. There should be tab named "purchased", which shows all your purchase history. Choose the "Not on this iPod" tab and you'll get a list of purchased products that are not on your device. Hope this helped.

swipe to the right on the individual podcast, this will allow you to delete them right on the iPad.

I cannot play some songs on itunes, I get a prompt for an old email address which no longer exists and I don't remember the password. How can I get these tunes transferred to my new email address and password?
In one of the help pages for managing your Apple ID (http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40), it shows two separate sections, one for Apple ID and one for Primary Email address. When I go to manage my Apple ID, I see only a single section for both. Can the two be 'separated', especially when you face the situation of having to discontinue your email address for some reason?
I also noticed that when navigating to Apple ID Support Communities, it shows my nickname 'dishdy'. How and when did I insert this? In the current sequence for creating an Apple ID I don't see this. In my current profile I don't see this.
In any case, I have freed myself from my previous Apple ID (@artemis.it) on my iPhone.
Thanks for your help. -

I want my songs to be in a specific order but they transfered to the ipod in alphabetical order by artist. how can I get them in the order I want?
Hey ellenkk
The best way to get the songs in the order that you want is to make a playlist and then sync it over. Once the playlist is set, all you have to do is set to sync playlist in the music tab.

I have ipad 3 & daughter new ipad mini with RD. She has nano and I have classic. Her nano syncs to her own laptop and mine to my desktop. I bought iTunes Match and authorised both iPads and both iPods. I have now enabled iTunes Match in my ipad and was warned it would replace my library. I pressed "enable" and now the 1800 songs in my library are gone and all I've got is the music my daughter bought from iTunes. What have I done wrong and how can I get my songs back. When I bought iTunes Match I got 1 e-mail confirming subscription and another providing receipt but nothing else no links etc. any assistance would be appreciated.
ArccctwcYou can only upload music from your computer's iTunes, you can't do it from an iOS device - when you subscribe to iTunes Match on your computer it should have scanned your music library on it and matched or uploaded any non-iTunes purchased music to it.
Do you have copies of those tracks anywhere e.g. on an iOS device or on your backup of your downloads/library ? If they are iTunes purchases then they should be in the cloud. If they were copied from CDs or bought from other sources then if they are only on an iOS device (i.e. you don't have them on a backup) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

I've got VIDEOS in ITUNES - how do i get them on my IPOD?
In Itunes I can see a handful of music videos that I've added to itunes in the VIDEOS location but I have no idea how to add them to my IPOD. They play in ITUNES and everything. I know that the videos need to be in a certain format and mine are .mpeg(s) and I don't know if those will work. And if they don't how do I convert them to proper files?
-J
Sony Windows 2000 i have new 30GB ipod w/ video and photo.Yes they need to be converted first. Either by purchasing an application such as Video Vault or you can try the freeware application such as Vidorea. Once converted, add the file to ITUNES. Then drag and drop or update automatically. I purchased Video Vault and if your IPOD is connected it will allow you to snyc without the use of ITunes.

My iPod can charge, but it won't show up on iTunes or the Finder
Okay, here's what happened: My 1.8 GB ipod nano has worked well with my Mac OS X, Version 10.2.8, with me putting music unto my iPod, which i've had for a good while...until yesterday, when I tried connecting it to my computer (which was previously not in use for a couple of weeks) and my iPod would not show on the Finder and it wouldn't open up iTunes automatically, but it would charge the iPod (which is currently fully charged), though "Do Not Disconnect" still flashes. Oddly enough, when I go to my Now, I tried resetting my iPod, using different USB cables, restarting my computer, and I have installed all current software updates, and it still hasn't worked. I don't want to reinstall iTunes 6-the lastest version-or restart my iPod or use a computer upgrade which costs big bucks, as well as lose songs i've bought and put unto both, which measure over $25.
However, when I go to Isync and Apple System Profiler, and check in the "Devices and Volumes" section (gotten to by apple symbol/about this mac/more info->Apple System Profiler/Devices and Volumes), I see they mention that the iPod nano is connected to the computer....Now, I DID hook up my iPod and the USB cable that came with it to different newer versions of iMac computers at the Apple store here in New York City at 5 avenue, to charge my iPod and to play my music on them (and it worked fine, I just couldn't play music I bought from the online iTunes music store, but, back on topic), so that may have caused the problem I have now, so, now I need a solution, so, if anyone can help my problem, I'd be very thankful, thank you.
PowerMac6,1 Mac OS X (10.2.x) 1 GHz PowerPc G4 (Mac Os X, version 10.2.8); 1.8 GB Ipod NanoIn order, I tried the first 3 (Reset, Retry, Restart) of the 5 steps, I don't wanna Reinstall and Restore, and risk losing my music on both, find out that still didn't help, and then having to buy it all back again, which isn't cheap, its fully charged, I use USB to connect between my iPod nano and my Mac (version 10.2.8), it isn't asleep when doing this, my computer, though it says it isn't compatible with a version 10.2.8, it used to work fine for months with no problems at all, I have the lastest version of iTunes, I have no plugged in FireWire equipment, my nano has never frozen, I doubt the USB cable I use or the computer port are faulty, as the nano can still charge and other things that use the USB ports (such as the keyboard) can still work, I'm not sure if my nano's hard disk format was damaged or not, but, I must admit, i've accidentaly dropped it a couple of times, but it still would work fine by itself or when it was connected with the computer, and I don't think my nano has a faulty port.

The problem of having 2 'Podcast' folders / menu items after adding a new podcast through clicking on a link in the browser has been addressed on the forums by instructing users to resubscribe to existing podcasts, which then appear in the new folder, and delete the old folder. This will not work for me as most of the podcasts I listen to are BBC, which vanish from the web 7 days after they were first broadcast (about which much swearing, but that's unalterable). Consequently I can't adopt this solution.
I have resubscribed to the podcasts using the link in a browser method, so that they all appear and (in theory) will download new episodes again. However, this leaves the old episodes missing. What must I do to get the episodes downloaded from the old podcasts recognised as belonging to the new subscriptions?I found a very fast and easy solution: I selected all the podcasts in the first window, copied them using the command in the Menu>Edit (Command+C did not seem to work). I then pasted them into the new empty folder. All the podcasts already downloaded appeared. The only problem is that some podcasts did not remember which had been viewed or not, while did keep the information. I just had to re-subscribe to the ones I still wanted by clicking on button.
For some reason, the previous Podcasts folder was only recogized as a list by iTunes, this showed up when I deleted the previous folder (contextual menu). I also had to re-select which ones I wanted synced with my iPad and iPhone.
(I did make a backup of the Podcasts folder in the Finder, just in case, a bit like voodoo computing) -
i am trying to put music into my 3rd gen ipod touch and older ipod shuffle but neither are popping up on itunes, what could be the problem?

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I have just updated my ipod to ios7 and thought my music content was backed up in the process, but find all of the songs that I have already paid for in the past are missing from the ipod. They are still on my pc, but I don't know how to transfer them to the ipod. Any help will be much appreciated.
Either redownload them directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
or sync them to your iPod via iTunes

yea.
iTunes has nothing to do with importing videos and photos from the iPod to a computer. It uses the computer image capture/phtos programs, not iTunes.
Try:
iOS: Unable to import photos to computer
Try on another conpouter to determine if you have a computer proboem. -
How to i transfer playlists from my iPhone to iTunes? They are all on my iPhone but not on iTunes how do i get them on there?
iTunes will only transfer purchases back to your computer using the iTunes > File > Transfer purchases from XXX's iPhone. It will not transfer playlists or non-purchased songs.
Here is an application that will transfer playlists and non-purchases (from iTunes) songs. There is a free demo limited to 1,000 songs or you can buy the full featured version for $18.99. http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
