2 printers on Airport

Looks like I can't run 2 printers off of the same Airport Extreme (unless I had a special model sold only to congnizante who were smart enough to read these discussion groups before buying one).
So, if I have a conventional Airport Extreme and successfully run 1 printer, can I network an Airport Express into the system and run a 2nd printer through the Express? If so, is there any special setup to follow in the configuration of the system?
Thanks

If you are connecting a USB interface printer to an Airport Express, just run the Airport Setup Assistant and configure the Airport Express to "join" the existing wireless network created by your Airport Extreme Base Station. It is not necessary to use the more complicated WDS setup as Jason suggested above, where the Airport Express is configured to "extend" the wireless network of the Airport Extreme Base Station (though that too certainly would work).

  • Printing setup two printers with airport

I've been reading through some of the other messages and still don't know exactly how I should set up my printers with airport. Here is what I have now:
HP 1200 printer plugged directly into the airport express usb port.
Airport express plugged into router via ethernet.
G3 desktop hardwired via ethernet to router
Epson color printer connected usb to the G3 desktop.
Powerbook accesses internet, network and HP printer
iBook accesses internet, network and HP printer
G3 desktop can access int., netw., HP printer and Epson Coloor printer.
    But...
I don't know how to access the Epson Color printer from the PowerBook or the iBook.
Not sure how to even start without messing up everything else that is working perfectly.
    thanks for any suggestions,
    charlene

On the G3 go to the Sharing pane of system preferences. Click on "Share printers from this computer"
Print something on the iBook. When the dialog comes up click on the name box. After a while you should see a selection for "Rendevous" or "Bonjour" printers. Click on the Epson that you will find there. It will create a new menu item to allow you to print.
However, the G3 must be on to print to it!

  • Can't find printers on Airport Extreme network when in Classic

I run a lab with 24 computers - 10 new imac flat screens and 14 older imacs using Mac OS 10.3.5. Still have some software I need to use on the older ones which require Classic (PhotoShop 6.0). Problem is that when I'm in Classic I can find the one hplaser printer that is connected to Airport base station through the ethernet port. (I have two Airport Extreme base stations on the same network) I have two color printers (a hp cp1700 and a Canon i950 that are connected to the base stations through the USB port in each one and picked up on the network through Rendezvous. Everything works great when in Mac OS 10 but the two usb printers are not to found in chooser in Classic. Have to muddle through until I can upgrade these 14 machines (it's for a junior high class). Any ideas???

I believe it is because Classic does not interface with Bonjour which is used to run the wireless printing connections.
Simply an observation. Someone please correct me if Im wrong.

  • Multiple Printers with Airport Express

Is it at all possible to hook up two printers to my airport express with a USB hub? If so, how. Thanks.

Hello Chad Jones3. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Is it at all possible to hook up two printers to my airport express with a USB hub? If so, how.
Sorry, but no. The AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) USB port will only support a single USB printer. USB hubs, let alone multiple printers are not supported.

  • An iMac, 2 PCs, 2 printers, an AirPort Extreme & a partridge in a pear tree

This as probably been answered somewhere else. Call me lazy for not looking. Anyway...
I've got an new iMac, 2 peecees, 2 USB printers, a DSL modem and a LinkSys router. I want to introduce an AirPort Extreme unit to wirelessly connect the iMac, and maybe someday a iBook or Powerbook, into my home network. I would also want the printers hooked into the USB port on the AirPort. Which setup would work better:
    1)
    DSL modem
    AirPort -> printers
    router
    peecees
    2)
    DSL modem
    router -> AirPort -> printers
    peecees
    iMac (iSight) 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   2PCs, 2Printers & a cat

Doesn't a router also act like a hub/switch?Many routers have a built-in switch to allow you to connect multiple Ethernet devices. However a router provides NAT and DHCP services, etc. that a switch does not.
The AEBS is a router. Adding another router complicates the network needlessly. You could make it work but you would have to configure the Linksys so that the DHCP server is disabled. Then connect everything (including AEBS) to the LAN side of the Linksys.

  • Multiple printers by Airport Extreme & USB hub

Is it possible to connect two printers to the one Airport Extreme with a USB hub (not the power-over-ethernet version)? I want to use a Canon iP5200 and a Dymo Label Writer 310, without repeatedly exchanging USB cables or switching on both computers at the same time.

  • Multiple Printers on Airport Extreme POE

I have 2 Epson 1280 printers connected to an Airport Extreme POE through a USB hub. The Airport only sees one printer. I renamed it "Right" and unplugged it. The other printer Shows and I renamed it "Left". Which ever printer is closer to the airport on the hub is displayed in the configuration utility. Firmware is 5.6 and utility is 4.2. Any suggestions or thoughts are appreciated.

This seems to be a limitation of the current Airport firmware - you cannot connect two printers of exactly the same make/model since only one will be "seen".

  • Switching Printers with AirPort Express

I had a Brother alser printer hooked up to the an AirPort Express - working beautifully. I remember during the set up process i had to select a menu item "redezvous printer." I forgot where this menu item was lcoated.
I just bought another printer to replace the Laser printer. The Print utility recognizes the printer but I can't seem to print through the AirPort Express.
Any suggestions on how to "rendezvous" this new printer?
And...can I plug both USB printers into a USB hub and then into the AirpORt Express?

Are you sure that your new printer is compatible with the AirPort Express (AX)? See this iFelix site to check on compatible printers.

And...can I plug both USB printers into a USB hub and then into the AirpORt Express?
No, the USB port on either the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) or the AX will only accept a single USB-printer. It will not work with a USB hub.

  • Multiple Printers on AirPort Express 802.11n

I know the literature on the OLD airport express said that you could not connect multiple printers via a USB hub. Is this possible on the new version, released 3/17/08?
    It would really be outstanding...
Also, any Apple techs out there know why we don't see airtunes on the Extreme Base Stations or Time Capsule?
    Thanks.

I just bought an AXP at a local Apple Store. While there, I was told multiple printers would work, wouldn't work, not to try it and that it might work by several different employees. I bought it since I could try it and exchange it for an AXT if it didn't do this properly.
I now have an Epson 2200 and a Brother MFC 9700 connected and printing perfectly. They both show up as Bonjour printers. The only problem I had was adding the 2200 to one of our computers. For some reason I kept getting errors at first. Then I hit the Auto Select button for the drivers and it added properly. I don't know why this happened, since I used the default all along, there you go.

  • 2 Printers, 1 Airport, Possibly a HD too...

    Hey guys,
I was wondering if it is possible to setup 2 usb printers on 1 airport extreme by using a usb hub. Would I also be able to add a hard drive too?
THANKS! And if it's not possible... what would I need to make it possible?

  • Connect multiple printers through Airport?

I have two printers (HP3100 and Epson3880) I would like to connect wirelessly to my local network so can be accessed by many in the house. I see airport express has capability for one USB input - if I put a hub in will both be recognized?
Multiple computers with 10.6.8 or higher.
If not is there another way?
    Thanks.

Yes, as long as it is a powered hub.
Uses for the USB port of Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express

  • Printing to Ethernet Printers Using Airport Extreme Base Station 802.11n

I don't want anything extraordinary. I think what I have to set up is pretty simple.
I have a PowerMac G5 tower and an Airport Network with an older 802.11g AExBS connected to my cable modem. I just acquired an AExBS 802.11n. While I'm sure that people would tell me to ditch the older one an just use the newer one, that is not today's task.
All I would like to do is to use the AExBS for my 3 Ethernet printers. The printers are:
    Brother HL-2070N
    Brother MFC-420CN
    HP Color Laserjet CP2025dn
Each printer is plugged into each of the 3 ethernet ports and not the WAN port. I didn't have any problems using my Netgear WGT624 wireless router, so I don't know why the AExBS is giving me such a headache. Is there something simply I'm missing in the instructions? Can anybody tell me if I'm missing something here?

Now I have managed to delete all but my directly connected USB printers in the Print & Fax area of my System Preferences. What gives?
I thought this was going to be straight forward. They don't even address hooking up ethernet printers in the manual. I've looked over the web and see other people having the same problem, but their original setup appears to be different and/or more difficult.

  • 2 printers 1 AirPort Express?

Is it possible to connect 2 printers to 1 AirPort Express using a USB Bus?
    Thanks.
    Michael

Sorry but no. The USB port on the AirPort Express (AX) supports only a single compatible printer.
The new square 802.11b/g/n AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) does have the capability to support multiple printers AND multiple USB drives.

  • Recomended USB Printers for Airport Extreme

I have heard and read several good things about the Airport Extreme that I am now planning on purchasing one. Before I do though, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of the best or better USB printers that are compatible with Aiport Extreme AND a PC/Windows/XP client.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Well, from what I saw today while installing my Cannon Pixma MP160 he found it at once and there is quite list of devices that are supported.I presume that recently new devices are in the list.As for the not taking MFP I can only say that may Cannon is MFP.Yes, I cannot use scan, only print. But I firmly believe that apple will correct this flaw
