2004s ABAPTrial SP12 failed on MS Server 2003 Virtual PC:Missing sapmds.txt

Hi,
I am trying to install the SAP 2004s ABAP Trial SP12 on a MS Server 2003 Virtual PC image that has allready installed the Developer Workplace system (NW 2004s Java).
It fails during the installation of MaxDB and I see from the forums that some others have similar errors in the installation.
The root cause of the failure can be seen below (added a couple of newlines to the sdbinst.exe command for readability)

From this we can see that the command
F:/sapdb/NSP/_tempLocation/sdbinst.exe -t sapmds -f "F:/sapdb/NSP/_tempLocation/sapmds.txt" -p DBNAME=NSP -p SOFTWAREPATH="F:/sapdb" -p INSTANCEBACKUP="F:/sapdb/NSP/_tempLocation/load/load_datasave" fails and gives the very unuseful error message Error parsing ''
After some debugging with filemon, I see that it appears to fail because it cannot locate the file F:/sapdb/NSP/_tempLocation/sapmds.txt . This is therefore the root cause.
Could this be a general problem for the current distribution?
Is there some way of manually creating this file?
Some other things I've tried
NTFS is used for disks
Tested that the load_datasave.gz can be gunzipped manually, however it fails before this happens
Created the loopback adapter and edited the host file, but as far as I can see this is not relevant untill after the installation

       The issue is resolved. Thanks for your response.
    The issue is, windows 2003 server is 32 bit and I am trying to install 64 bit 11g database. I tried installing 32 bit 11g database. Before that I have cleared the traces of virtual box in my host system and reinstalled it and tried. It worked out.

Install fails on Windows Server 2003

Windows Server 2003 SP2
Installation disappears after the copying step is completed and then the "*Publishing Product Information*" step begins
In the log file, after the following line, the copied files are deleted and the registry entries are removed.
InstallFinalize. Return value 2.
Anybody have an idea how to get around this? We tried granting the "Impersonate a Client After Authentication" privilege to the Local user in the Administrators group doing the installation, to no avail.

After the user logged off and then back on the "Impersonate" privileges took effect and the install completed successfully.

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn - Windows server 2003 X64 Drivers Missing

We have almost 80 Numbers HP 1212 MFP Printer which we are using in windows server 2003 X64 Operating System. Because of unavailablity of this model anymore, we are using HP Laserjet Pro MFP M127fn and the driver is missing for this operating system.
Anyone have Drivers or any other solutions ?

Hi Mike, Did you end up working your problem out? We have the same issue, prints fine from Windows 7x64 desktops via TCP, but it's a no-go on Server 2008R2. Cheers - John.

Exchange Server 2003 and OWA: Missing search box in contacts

Don't know what has happened here, we got a new server administrator.
Using OWA, connecting to our Server 2003 at the office. He has put the Contacts in a Public Folder that we drill down into to access. When accessing from home via OWA, and having drilled down to that public folder where the contacts reside, there
isn't a search box. In other words, if I wanted to search for a contact via OWS, I can't. I have to sift through page by page, hoping I come upon the contact.
Any help here? The new administrator seems to push this off on the guy that just left. Oy vey….

If server has enabled ActiveSync you can use Windows 8 Mail Client - works almost like Outlook.
AFAIR Outlook 2013 can't work with Exchange 2003.

I'm currently doing some virtualization experiments on my new server hardware. The host hardware is:
IBM x3650 M4
x2 Xeon E5-2609
32GB RAM
x2 480 GB SSDs
Server OS: Windows server 2012
I'd like to test some legacy app virtualization. I've configured a VM and have installed Windows server 2003. The install is done via DVD. The issue at hand is that after the initial installation, the server fails to boot. The VM goes into a reboot loop
and so far the only error logging I'm able to find is in the hosts event log.

If its relevant, the host is not yet activated license wise. I downloaded the demo version so I could test my idea before making a purchase to go ahead with full implementation.
As it stands right now I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. Many searches on google have not turned up any helpful info. Does anyone have any ideas?

2003/R2 should be with sp2 and max 2 virtual processors .

Failed Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 to Windows 2008 Enterprise OS Upgrade

Attempted to upgrade the OS on our Primary Domain Controller which is running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise with Service Pack 2 installed on a HP ProLiant DL360 G4P Server with 2GB of ram, 3.2 GHz Processor and 53.2 GB of free space on C. I took
the following steps prior to attempting upgrade.
1. Determined that Server meet the minmum requirements for upgrade.
2. Installed all Windows Updates.
3. Uninstalled McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise Application
4. Backed Up and Imaged Primary Domain Controller.
5. Tested Domain Replication to ensure Primary and Backup Domain Controllers were communicating with each other.
6. Set Domain Function Level at Windows Server 2003
7. Placed ADPREP folder on C:\ on Primary Domain Controller and ran "adprep /forestprep" and "adprep /domainprep" successfully
8. In the C:\Windowd\System32 renamed the WindowsPowerShell application folder to WindowPowerShell-Old, the application failed the Upgrade compatibility test.
Loaded the DVD: "Windows Server 2008 for Enterprise, Standard and Datacenter 32bit Edition", ran installation in upgrade mode to preserve existing settings and software.  The Ugrade ran to last step, application install and failed at
26% complete with the following errror message:
"Windows installation encountered an error and cannot continue. Your computer will now restart and your previous version of windows will be restored"
My questions are why did the upgrade fail? What can we do to ensure the upgrade will succeed next time?

Here are some limitation of upgrading:
Upgrading is supported from x86-based and x64-based computers, but cross-architecture upgrades are not supported.
Cross-language upgrades are not supported.
Upgrading from Windows Server 2003 to a Server Core installation of Windows Server 2008 is not supported.
We cannot upgrade the failover clusters from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008. Before upgrading, we must uninstall failover clustering.

From the logfiles you supplied, it appears that SP1 for .NET FW 1.1 is missing.
These security updates will not install if you don't have SP1 for .NET FW 1.1 installed.

Server 2003 Software RAID-1 Fail - System won't boot

Have a Windows 2003 Server with software RAID-1, and the primary drive failed.
I tried editing the boot.ini of the 2nd drive but all I get is a black screen and blinking cursor.
The drive had 2 partitions. One of them shows up when we plug the drive into a PC, but the 2nd partition is unrecognized.

Server 2003 R2 ntbackup operation failed

I am keep getting this errors whenever I run backup ( ntbackup )for my windows server 2003 R2. tried applying the patch "windows serverr2003-kb940349-v3-x86-enu.exe ) still the same after reboot. Below are the errors code, need your help

What I have done to try to troubleshoot this issue is:
Reinstalled DPM - No sucess
Restarted the Hyper-v Host - No sucess
I'm at the point where I am out of ideas and google hasn't given me much.

"vssadmin list writers" shows last error unknown for all writers
disk space is sufficient
ntbackup of systemdrive and systemstate runs fine.
i installed KB940349 which fixes some vss related issues but the problem is still there.
any ideas?

When you have vssadmin reporting unknown error the only way to reset the vsswriters (as I understand it please correct me if I'm wrong :) ) is to restart the machine. The Fellenator is correct, make use that the vsswriter is working correctly since this
is the main function DPM is using when taking backup. He's also right in saying that it's outside the scope! Create a new thread on your error, then you will get much better responce!

Hi,
EDGE/Crystal Reports Server and Enterprise are no native 64bit applications. That does mean that they only run in 32bit mode. But you can install it on a 64bit hardware with a 64bit OS.

Java2SDk 1.4.2.06 installation problem on Windows Server 2003

I tried the installation of Java2SDk 1.4.2.06. ,I tried this, but it fails to complete and NO directory folder is created so I cannot continue with the proccess. The OS is Windows Server 2003.
I have done the following procedures:
Enabled/Disabled the IIS configuration
Enabled/Disabled the Windows Firewall
Enabled/Disabled Antivirus software
The error in the event log is:
