(2008 R2) AD RMS Installation Failure: ALTER DATABASE failed because a lock could not be placed on database

First-time install on a SBS 2011 server, name replaced as <SERVER> for this post. I had created a separate IIS site rather than using the Default Web Site and I am guessing this might be a permission issue on the folder...
Installation failed with Event ID 110 and a repeating error that states, "<Error>: Attempt to configure Active Directory Rights Management Server failed. The provisioning process failed to create the Configuration database due to the following
error from Sql Server: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: ALTER DATABASE failed because a lock could not be placed on database 'DRMS_Config_adrms_<SERVER>_local_443'. Try again later. ALTER DATABASE statement failed. ALTER DATABASE failed because a
lock could not be placed on database ." Configuration as follows:

Hi Ahmad, I have the same problem, I have a server windows server 2008 R2 standard. While
doing an Enterprise to Standard downgrade, I have removed enterprise edition of SQL Server 2008, rebooted and while installing standard edition, I get the below error saying "You SQL server 2008 installation completed with failures. Some or all identity
references could not be translated"
Bit of background. This server has another express instance of SQL Server 2008. I have
used local system account, network service as well as our general SQL service account, but I get the error towards the end of the installation and it fails saying “Some or all identity references could not be translated.”
I am installing a named instance with the same name as before but fails. I have tried
creating a new test instance that fails too. Any ideas? I have uninstalled SQL enterprise edition from
Add and Remore Programs/Programs and Features. I've also run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility but no joy.
Cheers

When you have a oracle server running on the same physical machine, why do you need client to support your needs?
As you said, your oracle client installation might be an error, u can always point BIN on app server to your server installation and start the server. That was true up to Oracle 11.1 because the 32bit librairies were shipped in ORACLE_HOME even if that one was a 64bit installation.
It has been dramatically changed within Oracle 11.2 though. The 32bit libraries are not coming anymore within the Oracle 11.2 64bit, you have to explicitely install a 11.2 32bit client to make it work with Peoplesoft on Windows. And configure your Peoplesoft installation to work within that 32bit client.
Consequently, if you have all together installed on the same server (Oracle database 11.2 64bit and Peoplesoft), you must have two Oracle homes : one for the 64bit database, one for the 32bit client.

    1. Why I can't change the status of database to OPEN as grid user?
    2. The status is always STARTED when querying v$instance. İs it status of +ASM or database?
    3. When checking database as grid user it seems to be Database runnning...  If running why it is not in OPEN state? What is running means here?
    4. When I log on as oracle user and query v$instance, then error shown above occured. And also when startup  the database then another error occured as in above. WHY?
    5. When I edit /etc/oratab file manually why second row saved but the first one is changed after restart the system?
    6. Normally, which user have to start, stop or manage database? I think that oracle user is necessary for managing database and the grid user is only for managing ASM and Oracle Restart.
PLEASE HELP ME TO SOLVE THIS CHAOTİC SİTUATİON!!!

I have installed an Oracle 11gR2 on Oracle Linux Server 6.6 (Virtualbox)
Pl identify exact version of 11gR2 to 4 decimal places. As noted in your other thread - Failed to start oracle-ohasd, error: Inappropriate ioctl for device ohasd failed to start at roothas.pl - you will need a minimum version of 11.2.0.3 for Linux 6.x - using a lower version may result in unexpected issues or problems.

  • Problem with Cisco Bars after Database Republish ("Could not find Cisco Unified database on this server")

    OS Version: 2000.4.3a
    OS Service Release: 2000.4.5bSR21
    OS Upgrade: 2000.4.5a
    Bars Version: 4.0.15000
    CUCM Version: 4.2(3)sr4b
During the upgrade process of our CUCM 4.2(3) to version CUCM 4.2(3)sr4b the database replication between our 2 servers (1x pub, 1x sub) failed. After fixing this via dbhelper tool (everthing´s green and smiling again) service seemed to be ok.
But now Cisco Bars does not work anymore. The backup process of the publisher fails with "Error=[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL-Server connection." So it looks like some kind of database setting for bars  is misconfigured after the republishing process.
Yesterday I tried to reinstall BARS (now in the newest version 4.0.150000), but the same error message occured. Now I get the message "Could not find Cisco Unified database on this server" when I try to configure the Backup source within BARS.
Curiously the backup of our second CCM (sub) works as expected (but without CDR and TFTP Data). The "BackAdmin" User exists and is not locked (and wasn´t changed manually at all).
I am runnig out of ideas... :-(
Any hint or idea on how to fix this is kindly appreciated
    best regards
    Michael

    Mike,
I don't have anything definitive here but I am wondering if there is a discrepency between the database names.  In SQL Enterprise Manager, you can go to the Publisher and see what the current database name is.  It will be the one being replicated and will take the form of CCM0300 or CCM0301 or CCM0302.  You should see more than one.  Anyway, take note of the name.
Then on the Publisher launch regedit and go to HKLM\Software\Cisco Systems, Inc.\DBL\
Look at the values for DBConnection0 and DBConnection1.
It will be something like DSN=CiscoCallManager;Server=;DATABASE=;Trusted_Connection=yes
Does the in the DSN match what you expect?
Also, going to back to SQL Enterprise Manager, check out the permissions on the database (Right Click->Properties, go to Permissions tab).
Another thing to check if you think it is permissions related is the AdminUtility.exe (c:\program files\cisco\bin\).  This can be used to resync system account passwords.
TBH, I am just shooting in the dark here but these are things I would check.
    Regards,
    Bill

  • What's wrong with this MySQL connection? "Could not create connection to database server"

I'm able to connect to other MySQL databases but this one particular remote MySQL connection isn't working and I cannot figure it out.  It probably has something to do with the remote server, not CF, but I thought I'd post it here if anyone had an idea.  The MySQL account has full priviledges.
Here is the message when I try to validate the data source:
Connection verification failed for data source: test
com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException:  Could not create connection to database server. Attempted reconnect 3  times. Giving up.
The root cause was that:  com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException:  Could not create connection to database server. Attempted reconnect 3  times. Giving up.

This happened on two servers.  One one, the cause was that skip-networking was turned on.  In the other situation, it appears that the database name was case sensitive, so TEST was not the same as test.  Even though I edited the data source in the CF administrator, it still didn't work (very misleading).  When a coworker entered a new data source with the same information (uppercase database name this time from the start), it worked.
Has anyone else seen this problem with the case sensitive database names?  And with the data source in CF not updating the case correctly?  Seems like a bug in CF.

  • Glom – Could not create the new database

I would like to try Glom, but always get the this error
"Glom could not create the new database. Maybe you do not have the necessary access rights. Please contact your system administrator."
This happens with both local and extern server configuration. Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Regards,
    Renke

It would also help, if you install the application and just tell me, if you get the same error, when trying to create a database. Maybe it's just a problem on my side.
    Regards,
    Renke

While trying to re-install Mac OS X, appears the following screen:
    Install failed
Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer
The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail.
Contact the software manufacture for assistance.
Click Restart to restart your computer and try installing again.

You should be able to install Mac OS X 10.7 or later on your 2011 MacBook Pro without issue, if it came with 10.6.3 as your signature suggests.  Mind you, any 2011 MacBook Pro must use the original 10.6 installer disc labelled MacBook Pro if it desires to have 10.6 installed on it.   The retail installer disc will not work on that model, nor will one from another age MacBook Pro, or other model labelled installer.  Also
10.7 came both on USB Flash drive and Mac App Store installer versions.   Both required either 10.6.6 minimum be pre-installed, or no Mac OS X operating system on the drive or partition it was to be installed on.
10.7.1 through 10.7.5 combo could be installed only once 10.7 had been installed.  A combo update is available for installing on top of any version of 10.7.  Otherwise only the preceding version could be updated to the next.
10.8 came only on Mac App Store installer.  It is available only to 10.6.8 and later users.
10.8.1 to 10.8.5 combo could be installed only once 10.8 had been installed.  A combo update is available for installing on top of any version of 10.8.  Otherwise only the preceding version could be updated to the next.
10.9 came only on Mac App Store installer. It is available only to 10.6.8 and later users.
Both 10.9 and 10.9.1 had a serious security vulnerability, which only 10.9.2 addressed.
10.9.2 combo could be installed only once 10.9 had been installed.
For all three Mac App Store releases, the partition to be installed on had to be GUID partition formatted according to Apple Disk Utility.

  • Could not signon to the database with user VP1!!

    Hello All,
people tools : 8.53 - windows 7, my local one
peoplesoft application: HRMS 9.2 version -- oracle linux OS
oracle 11g database -- oracle  linux OS
when i start the app server domain for HSMS application using psadmin, its not starting
when i look for appserv logs, i got this error
    Password has expired
could not sign on to database with user vp1
i can able to login into the database, and able to connect to SYSADM schema also
so i tried manually updated the password operpswd in sysadm.psoprdefn table as VP1 and updated,. committed.
and tried to connect to database using datamover to encrypt the password in my local machine, it says tns could not find the id specified
but i can able to ping to linux database , tnsping is working, and i can able to establish a database session from my local one to linux server.
Still unable to start the HRMS application domain in linux server
    kindly help.
    Regards.

oops sorry Nicolas. ITs my typo mistake.
Its peoplesoft finance application. not the hrms. and user id and password is VP1/VP1 was set during implementation.
After implementation , we have not used the application for some months. I think that may be the reason for password expire.
    the following are the error:
File: sql access ManagerSQL error . stmt #: 2 Error Position: 0 Return:28001 - ORA 28001: the password has expired
SQL Access Manager: File: SQL Access ManagerSQL error. stmt #: 2 Error Position: 0 Return: 2 ORA 28001: the password has expired
    Database Options: override_connection_reset:0
Database Signon: Could not sign on to database PSFNDEMO with user VP1
    Server failed to start
End boot attempt on domain PSFNDEMO
i also performed the steps pointed by Hakan in your blog
On The Peoplesoft Road: Peoplesoft passwords
    Still no luck.
    kindly suggest
    Thanks.

  • Could not connect to the database

I have installed Oracle 11.5.10.2 and ADI 7.1.3.10.5
I can logon to oracle 11i but I cannot logon to ADI using the same username and password of oracle 11i.
In the ADI define databases form I have the following:
    GWYUID: applsyspub/pub
    FNDNAM: apps
    NCA Connection: (blank)
    Server ID: (blank)
    I receive the following message:
''Could not connect to the database. Invalid Username or Password''
I can use tnsping and tnsping80 successfully from the client.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thank you.

Starting from 11.5.10 and above, you have to provide the 'Server ID'. Change the current value of 'Server ID' to match APPL_SERVER_ID value found in your dbc file.
    Find the dbc file under:
    $FND_TOP/secure directory
The Server ID field is one of the parameters used in setting up the database definition in ADI.

"TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified at OCI call OCIServerAttach. [nQSError: 17014] Could not connect to Oracle database. (HY000)".
In the rpd I use OCI default (10g/11g) and cheked that connection is successful and also when I click on view data option in the physical layer I am able to see the data. I cheked with DBAs and correct TNS entries are also there in the server. Could not understand where is the problem.
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Thanks,
    Ravi

The problem is OBIEE server not able to read the tnsnames.ora file. That depends upon the what you set as ORACLE_HOME. that can be find with tnsping command at command line. Follow this article about setting up oracle home and oci drivers
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/10/03/oracle-bi-ee-101332-identifying-oracle-homes-for-oci-drivers/
please make sure that your DB-home is the first entry in your PATH environment variable.
Have you created TNS_ADMIN environment variable. Create a environment variable TNS_ADMIN which maps to location where tnsnames.ora file located.
let me know if you are not able to load after this steps.
