2010 Excel print preview moves checkboxes

Good day, we have recently received new Sony Vaio's with 64x arch and 2010 microsoft office 64x. In some of my excel workbooks i have check boxes that when checked shade the corresponding cell, in office 2007 it worked great. But now when I select
multiple tabs to view in print preview(with a ricoh printer as the default printer), the checkboxes in SOME of worksheets move to the left and up, and changes the layout on each worksheet after you exit the print preview, (the check boxes move to the left
and get smaller),basically ruining the document and if I do a print preview with Adobe PDF as the printer it does not ruin the layout.
Can anyone help with this issue. Ricoh has had me change to lanier drivers and still nothing has helped yet.

I have the same problem.
I tried all of the suggestions above (unhide objects, repair, hot fix and printer drivers) and these did not work.
The only way to fix the problem for me was to move back to Excel 2007 (with service pack 2).
This fixed all the problems I was having. I have provided some detail below about the problem and what steps I took to analyse and fix in the hope that this may help resolve the problem in Excel 2010.
Background:
I have a spreadsheet originally created in Excel 2002.
It contains a number of List Boxes, Scroll Bars and Drop Down boxes.
On upgrading to Excel 2010 and converting the file to an .xlsm I encountered a number of problems with these controls, including the problem described above.
Note, I upgraded straight to 2010 not via 2007.
My development system is Vista, Office 2010 and a Cannon MP830 printer.
The problem:
As described above if I do a print or print preview the controls get smaller and move left.
Each time I repeat the print or print preview the size gets smaller and the controls move further left.
I also have two controls that move significantly upwards (as they are well down the sheet), suggesting that the movement is actually proportionally up and left (each time I do a print or print preview).
I tried the suggested fixes above (unhide objects, repair, hot fix and printer drivers).
None of these fixed the problem.
Observations:
1) This problem only happens if I print or print preview with more than one worksheet selected.
If I print or print preview with a single worksheet, the problem does not occur.
2)
I tested the same spreadsheet in Excel 2007 on a different machine (running XP 2002 SP3 and a different printer) and the problem did not occur.
3)
I tested the spreadsheet on a different system running Excel 2010 (XP 2002 SP3) with a different printer and the problem still occurred.
4)
I removed Office 2010 from my development machine and installed Office 2007 and this fixed all problems (see other problems below).
I also needed to install service pack 2 for Office 2007 as 2007 had a known problem handling .xlsm files containing macros.
Without SP2 the spreadsheet stopped working totally as the macros were disabled by Excel.
SP2 fixed this problem.
The above clearly suggests that this is an Excel 2010 problem, is not a problem in 2007 and does not seem to be OS or Printer dependent.
Other problems:
Just to complete the story, the other problems I had with controls after upgrading to 2010 are:
1) Some of the Scroll bars and Drop Down Boxes gained a shadow.
This did not happen to all just some. I could find no way to remove the shadow and had to delete the control and create fresh controls.
The controls did not have a shadow in the 2002 version.
2)
When selecting an item from within a list box, the border of the list box moves slightly (like a nudge).
It returns to its original position but the move looks strange.
This movement does not happen if the zoom for the sheet is set at 100% but any other zoom shows the movement.
I have not been able to fix this other than to keep the zoom at 100% (a work around).
This problem does not occur in Excel 2007.
I hope this helps with the analysis, understanding and resolution of the problem as I am struck and will have to revert to 2007 if this problem cannot be resolved in 2010 (and
will need to advise my clients to stay away from 2010).

i was working on 2 documents for our accountant.
created one in excel, converted to pdf
created second one in excel, converted to pdf
there was maybe a 30 minute time lapse between these 2 files...tops
the first file does in fact have a print preview, and the pdf opens and is viewable.
HOWEVER, on the second file, there is no print preview, and pdf is blank.
(although the printer does in fact print the file with all the words and whatnot on it...)
blank pdf prints blank.
i tried xlsx, and xls to pdf, and nothing works.
it seems that all of the files created before this troublesome one can be converted and seen in print preview....even if i add a new sheet to the workbook, that works just fine...can print preview and convert pdf no problems.
now, when i try to do that with the second file, or any new excel doc, i canNOT convert or print preview....everything is blank.
one minute it was working, the next it's not.
it works for some excel files while not working for newer ones.
nothing was changed in preferences for excel, preview, or the printer, unless i accidentally typed a keyboard command that would allow this to happen.
i REALLY need to be able to convert excel to pdf! and i really don't want to have to print them out just to scan them in and save the scans as pdf...not fun.
i have been researching, or trying to research this here,and it seems that there is a known bug for office 2008, or for a different OS, but none of the work arounds for those issues are helping me here!

Try different page setups and layouts. Reinstall the Office fonts, or check for new patches from Microsoft. Check in Microsoft Office forums. Mind you PDF from preview and print are not as complete as Adobe Acrobat Pro, and are based on open source PDF standards. I don't know how well the standards were at the time your Office application was written, or if 10.5's PDF standard was up to Office's snuff, or if you updating to the latest available Adobe Acrobat Reader and Plugin will help, but between Office's and Adobe's forum you may be abl eto find an answer.

Excel Print Preview and printing problems

After upgrading to Leopard, I get a blank page (same when I print) and MS Excel spreadsheet. Anyone else have this issue and what is the solution? Microsoft web site indicates an issue but there updates this month didn't do anything (same results).

Thanks for the advice here. I've had the same problem using Excel to print to a Brother MFC-440CN printer. Used the workaround described above, but also selected 'Options' in Page Setup and then selected 'Format for Brother MFC-440CN'. Changed the print resolution to 600 dpi and was then able to preview & print. However, the document had to be reformatted to print in landscape, not portrait. Glad to hear that MS are working on a fix as this could be a real pain if it continues too long!

Cannot print preview a excel document Via DMS

Hi,
When we go to CV02n/CV03n and click on 'Originals' Tab and double click the excel document, we can see the excel document within DMS. If we click the Microsoft Office button and go to Print we do not see the 'print preview' highlighted.
Is there any setting in Micrsoft or DMS

Excel 2010 ignores print server's default color settings.
Our Setup:
Printers are hosted on Server 2008 R2 Print Server.
Two local printers are created on the print server for each Xerox MFP that we have.   Example: Xerox MFP (B&W) - Default settings are set to print black and white only.    Xerox MFP
(Color) - Default settings are set to print color.     So for every MFP we have two printers are created.
Both variations of the network printers are deployed to the users with the Black and White version being the default.    If a user needs to print something in color, they select the Color version of the MFP printer.   This
helps us save on color toner costs.
This works great for web applications, Microsoft Word, Adobe Reader, and other applications.   But, it doesn't seem to work in Microsoft Excel 2007 or 2010.   Whatever the default printer is of the two versions that are deployed,
excel seems to hold onto those printer settings.
Example: If your default printer is Xerox MFP (B&W), when you select Xerox MFP (Color), it still retains the Black and White selection in the printer properties. However, if you select a completely different model printer such
as Fax, and then go to  Xerox MFP (Color), it will pick up the necessary default color settings.
If I install the printers locally on the user's PC/Computer, it works perfectly.   However, it doesn't work when they are utilizing the print server's printers.
Things that I have tried:
Different drivers for Xerox. Global, PS, PCL.
Different brands of printers.   Still experience the same issue.
Different port names.
Different protocols, raw versus LPR.
Different versions of excel, 2007 and 2010.
Looked through group policy to see if I could force it.
Checked the excel sheet settings, black and white only was not selected.
Tried most of the printer properties settings.
Created a Server 2012 print server and experienced the same result.
Xerox's custom configuration file editor.
*Something to note, if I have the black and white version utilize PostScript Drivers and the color version utilize PCL driver, it correctly loads the color settings.   However, if you utilize Postscript for both versions, it doesn't.
I have to vary the print drivers. Ideally, I don't want to have to do this because I want consistency between prints.

Can't print preview or print in Excel or PowerPoint

Gosh, I've been so busy fighting wireless networking issues with Leopard, it wasn't until today that I finally had a need to print an Excel spreadsheet and much to my slowly building frustration with Leopard, that too is a no-go in Leopard. In either Excel or PowerPoint, using "print preview" yields only blank pages and if you attempt to print the document, you get precisely the same, just blank pages.. Such is not the case in either Word or Entourage... Those both print ok... What I also find somewhat ironic is if I dump those same Excel spreadsheets into Parallels under Windows XP and the pc version of Excel, I can print the documents with no problem... Ouch... On my mac I'm running the most current version of Office (11.3.9) and my printer is a Brother PrinterMFC5440CN. I've encountered this same printing issue on both of my macs, a MacBook Pro and a G4, both running Mac OS X 10.5.1... Anyone have any possible solutions??? thanks... bob...

Just wondering if you sorted out this problem? I am new to Macs and recently bought an iMac after being a PC and Windows user for years. I have never had problems with printing but very frustratingly do now with the Mac. I have an Epson R265 and can print from photoshop, entourage, excel but not from word.
If you had any success with this problem could you let me know.

2010 excel spreadsheets won't print.

I recently got a new PC running Windows 8 and installed MS Office 2013. I have an HP Deskjet 2050 all-in-one printer (j510a). I downloaded the correct print drivers for the printer to my new computer from the HP site and I also performed a "scan doctor" test as recommended when I couldn't solve the problem. Print drivers appear to be installed correctly. All printer test screens work properly. All "new" MS office files appear to print OK and older (2010) Word files and Powerpoint files appear to print OK. However, I have a large number of 2010 Excel templates that I use quite frequently and none of them will print on the HP 2050 with my new computer. They load into the new MS Excel program and the template equations work fine. I just can't print anything from the sheets. I don't know if this is a printer problem or an Excel problem. It appears to be a printer problem. When attempting to print the file, the shelf icon for the printer shows a document ready to be printed . . . There is a short pause . . . then "0 documents to print" . . . but no document ever prints . . . no error statements . . . nothing. Any ideas?

I don't know what the problem was, but I finally resolved it by simply doing a cut-and-paste from the old spreadsheets into new ones. You must make sure you copy all rows and columns from the old sheet into the same number of rows and columns in the new spreadsheet in order to make the macros work, but when done properly, the new template will print. I was told by one of my tech support folks on campus that it is probably a print driver issue with the new Windows 8 print drivers I downloaded for the printer. Not really sure if that is correct or not, but it did solve my problem.

Missing columns in print preview of ALV Grid

In a report using ALV grid the output is ok in ALV grid when press print preview the 1st column is always missing and the 1st row shift by 1 character. Why is it happening. The same is happening in print out or when list saved in excel also.

Actual screen and Print preview are different.

Good afternoon,
I am trying to make a spreadsheet, and have inserted numerous check boxes. On the screen itself, look great - but when I print preview it is like the text moves and the check boxes are in the middle of the words.
I am using Excel 2013 - I tried to insert pictures but it would but it would not let me.
Any assistance would be awesome - thanks.

Hi,
Do you have the long text in one cell and use the wrap feature? If it is, we can use Alt + enter to wrap in the cell in stand of using wrap feature.
The print preview should looks similar with original document.

On the other hand, the issue also may be caused by the printer, we can export the Excel file to PDF/XPS file and then print it to test.

Smartform All pages in one print preview problem

     I am displaying the employee data in ALV with checkbox selection.. i put two user defined buttons like print and print preview. when user clicks on print button, smartform will call for very employee in loop and print it employee wise. But my problem is when user clicks on print preview by selecting multiple checkboxes , I need all pages(employee wise like page1,2,3..) in one print preview. I done but for every employee,i have to press the BACK button. But I need all pages in one preview. I'm pasting my code here. Can anyone suggest??

Hi friend sure.
You need to increment the index only at the loop no where else and the variable for holding the index value is global.
If you create before the read every time it gets trigerred.
After each loop you assign the sy-tabix value to that variable.
Just like this ,
v_index = sy-tabix.
Then at the window just read the table as shown
READ TABLE t_chq INTO x_chq INDEX v_index.
This will do friend.

Why does Print Preview of a .eml file recursively open the same .eml file? I can't print it.

Hello. I saved an email from my IMAP account locally to file as offlineemail.eml. When I try to open the .eml file later in Thunderbird, it opens up ok, no problem. When I do Print Preview just before sending it to my printer, two windows pop up. In the background is the first window, the Preview itself. However, it only shows "about:blank" in the Preview body. In the foreground, a window with Title: Opening offlineemail.eml. Body: You have chosen to open: offlineemail.eml which is: eml document (27.9 KB) from: /tmp. What should Thunderbird do with this file? [Radio button] Open with [dropdown] Thunderbird (default); [Radio button] Save file; [Checkbox unchecked] Do this automatically for files like this from now on. [Push buttons] Cancel Ok. The Ok button remains greyed out until I click one of the radio buttons. I click Open with Thunderbird, the Ok button is now active, and I click Ok. Here, the same email opens up just fine again in a separate Thunderbird window. I do a Print Preview, and this whole paragraph of steps is repeated. I never see the preview. Any ideas why this would be? My Thunderbird version: 31.3.0. My OS: linux openSUSE 13.1"Bottle". File manager: Thunar 1.6.3 for the XFCE desktop.

User gets odd behavior when print previewing calendar

User calls with an odd problem.
She is using 32 bit IE 9 with our SP 2010 farm.
She goes to her department calendar. She sees events.
She presses Print Preview. No events are shown on the page.
She tries to export the data to Outlook - it tells her there is too much data.
She calls me.
I look - her default view is running into the resource throttling of the farm. So I try to create a unique view that only shows this week's events.
It works fine for me. Print preview and printing work as well.
When she looks at it in her browser, it works fine.
When she tries to print preview - no events show up on the preview page.
She tries to export from the new view - Outlook gets no events.
She is using IE9, so the IE7 comments in old threads are not relevant.
I set the web part configuration to 12 inches as one conversation suggestions. That doesn't help.
Does anyone else have any ideas of things to try?

When I look at the custom calendar within SharePoint Designer, the page has a ListView Web Part but not an XsltListViewWebPart.
I have tried several times to step through blog entries that describe editing the page, setting the view of the web part, etc. At one point whatever I tried turned the calendar view into a list view ... sigh. I created a new calendar view and made it
the default.
I have asked the user to try the print preview out today to see if it works for her after I created the new view.
The really odd thing about all of this is that at least 2 people don't have the problem with not seeing event data in the print preview.
It _almost_ sounds like some sort of machine specific issue she is having.
I wonder if I should ask the admins to repair Office 2010 on her machine to make certain the DLLs are all working properly.

Print Preview using crystal report in SAP B1 slow.

Dear all,
I face another problem. Print preview using crystal report in SAP B1 is very slow. Although i have create a query view in SQL server but it's still slow for my user. First time i create using table in crystal report. just drag the table. It's take more than 10 minutes. After that i move all the query to view in SQL server , it's take 1-2 minutes to print preview some time more.. But i think that it's still slow. Does any one know how to print preview fast. Just like in PLD.
