Hmm. The problem still may be the RAM - Apple buys the RAM it puts in its machines from third-party vendors (usually Hynix) so it could be a RAM problem.
There are a couple of things that you can do yourself before taking your machine into an Apple Store or an AASP... download and run an application named Rember that will run a RAM test for you - let it run for a couple of hours or even overnight. If it turns out that your RAM is faulty, Rember will let you know. If it is faulty, then you have a couple of options - replace the RAM yourself or (particularly if you're under warranty still) take the machine to an Apple Store or AASP and have them replace the RAM.
If Rember finds no fault with the RAM, then you'll need to take it into an Apple Store/AASP and get a free diagnosis on the machine. Three beeps do usually indicate faulty RAM, but if it tests good with Rember you likely have another problem - it could be something as simple as the RAM, somehow, not seated correctly or signs of another hardware problem.
Run Rember first... call back with results.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Macbook Air Mid-2011 Loud, hot, burning, help!!

I am about to give up and sell this thing, but I'd like to see if anyone can help me first before I make my final decision.
I have a 2011 Macbook Air 11.6 inch. It has all the latest updates. I've installed windows 7 via Bootcamp.
Whether in windows or Mac, the computer will get really hot and the fan would be loud. I'm not a gamer. This is regular internet browsing, reading and shopping. I just also notice now when I put the computer to sleep in Windows, the thing is burning up. I open the notebook thinking it has had plenty of rest and even though it was asleep, the bottom of the notebook is crazy hot. The power was plugged in while it was sleeping because I wanted to charge it. Did the charging have anything to do with it? I never had issues charging my dell during sleep.
What is going on here? Should I uninstall windows 7? But like I said, this will happen on the mac side too. I'm not using parallel, I'm using boot camp which I thought was the right thing to do.
Is this normal? Should I send my unit to Apple for repair?

I think it's worse on the Windows side, and I'm not sure, but I thinking it's particularly worse when it's charging. If I'm surfing while the macbook is plugged into the power supply, it heats up faster than usual.
How do you recommend checking things on Windows side? On Macbook side, activity monitor seems normal. There is nothing above 4%. In windows task manager, all cpu says 0, but for the memory column.. firefox is using about 290,000k, flasyplayer about 23,000k.
As I'm writing you, the computer has calmed down a bit after I unplug the charging. There is something going on with the charging. Like I said in my previous post, when I put it to sleep, I came back to find it burning, probably because I was letting it charge during sleep.

  • I need the drivers for earl 2011 macbook pro 13 inch i7 4 gigs for windows 7 64 bits i tried downloading with bootcamp butt it never completes allways ends up with an error please help

    Doug...
If you don't have it for reference, the manual might come in handy > US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup.pdf
After it loads, Command + F to find information regarding the drivers.

  • Late 2011 MacBook Pro stuck at spinning wheel of death after a Thunderbolt issue, HD erasing and fresh Lion install from Recovery HD. Please help me!!!

So, I think the title says it all, but to give you a little more info:
I connected my late 2011 MacBook Pro to my TV using a Thunderbolt HDMI adapter, and closed the lid. When I opened it, it wouldn't show the login screen, so I restarted using power button. Got stuck at the Apple logo with the spinning wheel. So I booted the Recovery HD and found out it was a HD problem, so I (reluctantly) erased the HD and installed Lion from scratch. When it rebooted (after DOWNLOADING the Lion components) I got some terminal commands (sorry for not being more specific, still a noob when it comes to Mac) and then the screen faded and a message appeared saying I needed to reboot the computer. So I did. 3 effing times. Then I got stuck AGAIN at the spinning wheel, and I'm currently with that on my screen. I'm trying the forums before calling Apple (my computer's still within the 90 days of warranty) because it's not yet 9 A.M. where I live

can you go back to recovery mode then open disk utility.
in disk utility, higlight the disk, the one saying the brand and size then click on repair disk under first aid tab
if it repairs fine, that's okay
if repair was not successful, go to partition and change current to 1 partition then apply
    install lion again
    hope this helps

  • Constant kernel panic on my Late-2011 MacBook Pro, help!

    Hi all,
Okay, so whenever I'm running heavy tasks on my computer (rendering in Premiere, gaming etc.), after awhile my computer panics . By awhile, it ranges from 2 minutes up to about 2 hours. I'm not entirely sure what's causing it, but looking at the log, it apparently has something to do with "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement".
Please let me know what sections of the panic log I should post, I'm not exactly sure whether or not it gives away personal information or anything, haha. Oh, and I'm running 10.8.4.
    Cheers!

  • 2008 macbook pro beeps after installing new hard drive

I install a new hard drive in a 2008 macbook pro and it just beeps. three quick beeps repeatedly. I cloned the new drive from my 2011 macbook pro
Is anybody experience this same problem? please help
    thank you

You can't reliably use the clone from one Mac on another Mac of a different vintage.  Boot off an external hard drive after installing the operating system from Apple or the original discs on the external hard drive, and use the migration assistent to import data from the internal hard drive.  You'll want to make sure the copy on the external hard drive does not excede the internal hard drive capacity by more than 85% before cloning and overwriting its contents.

  • 15 inch 2011 Macbook Pro crashing under mild stress

I've been encountering numerous hardware problems with my 15inch 2011 Macbook Pro for the last year.  Problems such as the laptop overheating before going into sleep mode when I close the lid (which caused my hard drive to corrupt).  My laptop has also become extremely sensitive to being bumped.  A slight bump while the machine is in use and it'll give me a ram failure 3 beep code.  I've used 3 different sets of ram and it still suffers.  And now within the last 2 months my computer seems unable to handle any mild processing.  The system will start to slow down significantly when I open more then one tab in my web browser at a time.  The system also runs extremely hot under these circumstances with the fans running at high speeds and ultimately leading to a system crash where the screen freezes and all I hear is erratic static noise from the speakers until I force shutdown.  I can't even watch 1080p videos on youtube without risking a crash!  I am aware of the GPU failure that is currently affecting thousands of 2011 macs that are the same model as mine.  I am trying to diagnose if my computer is also encountering GPU failure.  The symptoms of my computer are not the same as what others are reporting in the GPU case, but I have no idea what else could be causing it.  Any help would be great!
    Thanks for your time.

If your MBP is experiencing kernel panics, use these instructions and post one:
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/ht2546
Without actual temperature readings, one cannot determine if you have an issue with heat.  Download iStat menus:
    http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/
Open Activity Monitor to ALL PROCESSES and set %CPU to display values from high to low.  When your MBP gets hot, post images of both for review.
    Ciao.

  • Mid 2011 Macbook Air Painfully slow.

Mid 2011 Macbook Air Painfully slow.
Hey everyone.  I am writing about my 13 inch Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
Recently it has been extremely slow and on occasion has not started up.
I have reset the PRAM and SMC already, yet it is still very slow.  I have a couple theories about what might have caused it, are they plausible?
Theory 1:  It’s a software problem. I tried to upgrade to 10.8.2 but halfway through the upgrade the computer restarted and somehow I was still on 10.8.1.  For fear of a big issue happening I didn’t try to upgrade again. Perhaps it is a flaw in Apple’s software update?
The important thing to note about this update is that I tried to install 10.8.2 around a month or two weeks BEFORE I started having problems.  So if these issues were due to 10.8.2’s failed update then it certainly was a delayed reaction.
I would of course like to update to 10.8.2 BUT as my computer is acting EXTREMELY slow and having trouble turning on occasionally I am worried the software update will completely brick the machine.  Is that possible?  Should I actually finish through with the software update?
Theory 2:  It was an electricity problem.
The computer died when I was sitting at a café plugged into their wall sockets.  A few days later when I came back to the same spot with my old macbook which is now being used in lieu of the Air it suddenly turned black for a little while. Sensing it might be an electricity surge or something with their system I unplugged the cable.  I am not sure if that was paranoia though.
Can an electricity surge or a bad outlet fry a computer?  Can it fry the ram so the computer is extremely slow? Does that theory hold any water?
Thanks for your help diagnosing this problem.
    All the best.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.) You can omit the final line ending in “$”.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

Hi i cannot change the brightness on my late 2011 macbook pro. It is stuck on the lowest level in which i can't view the screen without a flash light. Please i need help how to solve this. I was on my computer when i checked the back which it was really dusty, i tried unscrewing the bottom however some screws were too tight so i took it upon myself and got a rod and startedremoving the dust off the vents and i may have clicked something as i closed the lid on the macbook i could hear the sounds still from the film but the lid was closed as i opened it back up the brightness was on low but sounds were still playing. All the buttons work , all of the F keys, apart from the brightnes keys. I can shine a tourch on the screen and see the display but the brightness will not change but i can see when i click the brightness it says it changes. I have connected it to a spare tv i have via hdmi and i really need help as this is my primary computer and i need it for work when going away. Thank you
