  • Play for cash in mobile games?

Just to introduce myself, I'm just THAT guy who has an idea of a mobile game but doesn't know anything about the technical side of it.
With that being said, I've been educating myself more about mobile games and there is just 1 thing I just can't find the answers to it.
Of course I want the option that people could play against each other online, but what I really were thinking about was that people could chose to play against eachother to win real money. It's not gambling or betting, it's skill based.
    https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#contests
    20.5
Apps that offer real money gaming (e.g. sports betting, poker, casino games, horse racing) or lotteries must have necessary licensing and permissions in the locations where the App is used, must be restricted to those locations, and must be free on the App Store
This is the closest I came to finding an answer to my question, how ever it doesn't say anything about what I'm talking about.
On top of that, there are 2 companies I'm aware of that do offer play for cash games. (I forgot the name of one of the companies)
    http://skillz.com/
These companies offer what I would like to offer the players who would play my game. I don't want to be part of their companies, I just want to play for cash option in my own game.
    So what is my question?
Who do I need to contact to discuss this matter!

  • Where can I find a good tutorial for mobile game developement with J2ME ?

    Hi All,
I'm completely new to J2ME programming. But I have past experience on J2SE developement. Now I would like to know that where can I find a good tutorial for mobile game developement with J2ME ?
I'll be very greatful if I can find a useful step-by-step tutorial (eg. "The Java Tutorial" for J2SE)
Please point me ot the direction.
    Thanks
    ZuriJAckshoT

ibook-widgets.com    have a free tutorial book in the iBooks store.  Search for "Create your first interactive book using iBooks Author"   they also  sell widgets.
I  dont have any connection - I  found their eBook in the store long ago  and used it to learn more about iBA.
The best advice though, is be patient,  go back over the process step by step, I cannot  access the Help files for some reason.. but i am sure its in their.

    Hi,
Here's my mobile game for kids: https://market.android.com/details?id=air.com.xtdstudios.games.MemoryCards
I would LOVE to hear your comments!

Hi - Just checked out your link.
I like the video - is it representitive of the games performance on a mobile device?  If so it looks like it maintains a nice frame rate.
I also like the transitions and effects you've added.

  • 512k game contest?

What do you think about a 512k game contest?
The site will soon be a http://www.geocities.com/512kjgc
I'll let you know if it changes. Also if you think that 512k games for a contest is a bit much, then I'll lower it to 256k, or 128k.
    What do you think?

If we want to create a limited-size context, why not taking the categories from the good old demomaking days ?
There was 4kb intro, 64kb intro and 4Mb demo categories.
The 4Mb demo is not very interesting, because there is no challenge in fitting a game or anything else in such a big space. But the 64kb is interesting because it allows a lot of things, including graphics and music, but forces to perform lots of space optimisations. Moreover, 64kb are quick to download on a standard modem.
Problem with 512kb is that this is too much space for simple games, thus forcing to have big games, with quality graphics and music to compete. It's no more a developper challenge, but a game production challenge. Plus, 512kb are not that quick to download.
Finaly, I would like to talk about distribution rules. Will a 64kb game have to be an Applet ? If so, a 1.1.8 or a 1.4 JApplet ? I propose to let the choice of the JDK (up to 1.4.1) without any extension (no J3D, for example), and to package the whole thing into a single executable Jar for the sake of simplicity and uniformity.
    What do you think ?

  • Games contest

i like to know is there any games contest.. if yest pls let me know

Hey all, Im gonna start an 8k game creation contest
with quality PRIZES. since java is not under 8k, a game in java under 8k is
not really 8k, so why bother at all ?by that logic, no program written in any language for any platform can be realy less than 8k, as they all have some form of dependancies.

  • Where to find  iOS 4.2.1 for 2nd generation - games are not opening on daughters ipod

My daughter's ipod touch 2nd generation only has a 3.x.x software on it.   Lately she has not be able to open some of her games.    It looks like I might need to install update iOS 4.2.1 however, in iTunes the only update I see is the iOS 5.x.x which is not compatible.    Where do I find prevous updates in itunes and do you know if this will fix the problem?

If games don't open that previously worked, it's probably not an issue of needing an updated version of iOS, though that may be desirable for other apps that will require a newer version.
Try restarting the iPod - Hold down the power button until you get the red "slide to power off", do so, and then press the power button again to start the iPod back up. If that doesn't help, try removing the problem games and reinstalling (she'll lose any saved games, scores, etc.)
If you really want to upgrade iOS as well, post back and I can give you the link to Apple's direct download for iOS 4.2.1 for the 2nd-gen iPod touch.
    Regards.

  • Optimized grid for mobile game

I am developing a game for multiple mobile devices using Flex 4.6. I wanted to ask what you think the optimal performace solution would be for creating the below component.
The component spec is as follows:
    1) It needs to be a grid type interface where icons can be dragged and dropped into it.
    2) the grid has a fixed number of empty cells that allow draganddrop capability
    3) the empty cells need the ability to display an optional background icon
Ive tested this by using the tileGroup and adding a custom component TileContainer to act as the  empty grid cells. this TileContainer accepts draGandDrop and can display a bacground icon.
The perfomance is ok, BUT i've read that i should try and use a list with the iconItemRenderer to maximize the performance for mobile. However, i don't know if this is possible since i need a static grid containing empty cells with an optional background. Would you still suggest using a list with a custom iconItemRenderer that accepts drag and drop? or should i just try and optimize the custom tileGroup as best as possible? Or any other suggestions?
Than you very much for your time.

Whether you use Starling or not depends on the nature of your apps. When you do, you can use Starling Sprites and MovieClips for what they are need for, and regular Flash objects for things that Starling isn't so good at.
You should register at the Starling forums, that's a good place to ask questions:
