3.1 WAS Clustering

We are upgrading to 3.1 and are evaluating our architecture.  We have hardware F5 load
balancer and two webshpere application servers.  Obviously our goal is two have seemless
failover in the web tier, should a WAS go down.  The load balancer is set up for sticky
sessions to ensure requests are always routed to the same WAS for each active session.  If that WAS
was to go down, is BO able to rebuild the session on the other WAS without the user
noticing?  I'm sure I've tested this a while back on R2 with 3 Tomcats using an Apache HTTP
web server to load balance.  I recall seemless failover, other than a slight delay.  I
believe the browser has the token cached, with which the session is rebuilt on another WAS.
Can anyone confirm this?  The main purpose of this post is to decide whether true WAS
clustering (with  something like database session replication) is really necessary.  Can anyone think of a BO
scenario (eg. using Voyager) where session replication is necessary for failover?

all the four machines are four containers in a solaris server.
The problem was with the hosts file, there were not entries matching the ipaddress and the hotname.
After i fixed it now i have a stable BI servers and cluster controllers.
Now i configured the presentation services to connect to the BI servers but i am getting the following exception.
Type: Error
Severity: 42
Time: Thu Aug 6 13:04:02 2009
File: project/webcomm/socket.cpp Line: 892

Location:
saw.rpc.client.impl.verify
saw.rpc.client.impl.initFixedRPC

An error occurred during execution of "connect". Connection refused [Socket:15]
Any idea?
thanks

    Hi,
I was clustering portal 8.1 and started to wonder if I really need services that
are configured as a default. Services like JMS and destinations(cgjmsstore...).
I understand that I need cgPool and datasources but how about others these JMS
related stuff. I cannot not find any documentation about those.
How about applications which comes as a default:
    -taxWSApp
    -paymentWSApp
    -QueueTransportEJB
Do I need these? Or can remove these?

    Mike -
You only need taxWSApp and paymentWSApp deployed if you have configured
them to handle your commerce-based tax and payment services. If you
don't know what I'm talking about, you haven't and you don't need them.
I'm not totally sure, but I think you will need QueueTransportEJB and
the JMS stuff if you are using controls and/or .jws's in your
application. Portal, by itself, doesn't use that EJB or any JMS.

  • WAS Property for External JARS

    Hi All,
We are using AIX as a platform for a Netweaver WAS 6.40. I have a EAR file that contains some 3rd party JARS. When I deploy the EAR on WAS and run the JSP that is calling one class inside the JAR, the JSP is not able to find that class.
I have checked and deployed my EAR on another Netweaver WAS which is running on a windows platform. I have even checked my application on tomcat. In both the cases the problem is not there. My application runs fine.
It is only on AIX and this particular WAS that it is throwing this error below
    No ClassDefFoundError
This error is for one particular class inside a third party JAR.
Imp : This application was running fine before, the only change that we did was clustering on the server. Thats all.
Do I need to set some server variable for making the server accept 3rd party JARS. Am I missing some server parameter.
    Plz help
    /sab

    Hi
When creating a system itself, you can set WAS and ITS properties in system properties. A transaction iView uses these properties to connect to the system. For host entry, it is sufficient to maintain entry for R3 host in server machine alone. Hope that will serve the purpose.

  • MSTDC Error in clustered Environment in while interacting to DB Server from BizTalk server

    Hi All,
After completing all my required Biz-talk Integrations (All were related to WCF-Custom Adapter : SQL Binding), I deployed the same to the client environment. But, the same thing which worked for me in my development environment was giving some issues in
    the deployed environment.
The main difference was, at client environment - The DB Server was clustered environment and the interaction was through the load balancer.
The first issue I encountered was, there was firewall blocking the access to the DB server from Biz Talk server. Then after enabling and opening the Port 1433, the issue got fixed and I was able to communicate with the DB Server.
After this, I was getting the error related to MSTDC. For this to work properly, in my BizTalk application Configuration, if i set the property for "UseAmbientTransaction" as false under "SqlBinding" for the WCF-Custom Send Port, it is
    working as expected!
But, I heard from our Architects that the best approach is to set the property as "TRUE" for "UseAmbientTransaction" property.
So I set the property as true and done the below configurations.
    1. Enabling Network DTC using "dcomcnfg.exe"
    2. Adding and enabling Fire wall exception for DTC.
Even after making the above changes, I was getting the same error. Then after cross checking with DTCPing and DCTester on both local and deployed copy, i got the below difference.
    1. Port 135 (RPC EPM) was opened in my local environment but it was having "Filtered" access at the deployed copy.
So my question is, after opening the above port, will it solve the issue?
Secondly, is there any security threat ter opening the above Port?
Any quick suggestion/solution is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Anand

    Hi Anand,
Performing operations on SQL Server using BizTalk Server always involves two resources—the adapter connecting to SQL Server and the BizTalk Message Box residing on SQL Server. Hence, all operations performed using BizTalk Server are performed within the
scope of an MSDTC transaction. So, to use the SQL adapter with BizTalk Server, you must always enable MSDTC. To enable the adapter to perform operations within the scope of an MSDTC transaction, you must configure MSDTC both on the computer running the SQL
adapter and SQL Server. Also, you must add MSDTC to the exceptions list of Windows Firewall. That is the reason why recommend setting for this binding property is
true; otherwise you might either experience message loss or duplicate messages, depending on whether you are performing inbound or outbound operations.
Exception is for operations where the adapter client does not write any data to the SQL Server database, such as a Select operation, you might not want the additional overhead of performing the operations inside a transaction. In such cases,
you can configure the SQL adapter to perform operations without a transactional context by setting the
    UseAmbientTransaction binding property to false.
Just refer the link fo all the details:
Configure MSDTC on SQL Server and Adapter Client

  • Fresh cluster inst., servers reboot, cannot restart clusters or ASM

    Hello all,
I just installed 11Gr2 cluster over 5 nodes. I used ASM in the installer, to hold the voting disk, etc for it.
I installed the RDBMS binairies successfully across all nodes. NO INSTANCES YET.
    A few days went by....
I was getting ready to do post installing patches...and found things looking strange. I found the (working on node1), the clustering systems was not running.
I looked, and the servers (all 5 of them) for some reason had rebooted since install.
    I tried starting the cluster:
    crsctl start cluster -all.
Took while to return, and then errored with a timeout msg.
I checked to see if it was up:
    ./crsctl check crs
CRS-4638: Oracle High Availability Services is online
CRS-4535: Cannot communicate with Cluster Ready Services
CRS-4530: Communications failure contacting Cluster Synchronization Services daemon
    CRS-4533: Event Manager is online
It then dawned on me...maybe ASM wasn't up either?
    Nope...not running.
I tried to start it locally on node 1
I set the SID, and tried using sqlplus
    I got:
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/init+ASM1.ora'
I looked...nothing in that directory at all but a simple init.ora file.
I tried shutting down the cluster with
    crsctl stop cluster -all
I got a ton of messages for each node like:
CRS-4548: Unable to connect to CRSD
CRS-2678: 'ora.crsd' on 'node1' has experienced an unrecoverable failure
CRS-0267: Human intervention required to resume its availability.
I'm trying to get through to Oracle support, but they're running slow.
    Any ideas here?
I used OUI to create ASM for the cluster...why would it not put an init file there to point to the spfile in ASM?
I'm guessing this is the reason the nodes couldn't talk or sync. Trouble is...how do I start ASM without an init file? I seem to recall there might be a way to create a file to point to the ASM for the spfile, but I'm new to this too...and not sure where to point or the syntax to use.
Will have starting cluster up with no ASM have done any damage...if so, how to fix it?
As you can tell, learning about clusters/RAC and ASM....and I'm not finding good reference materials on troubleshooting. Heck, the install docs are bad enough....
Thank you in advance for any advice or links...

    Hi,
Try doing crsctl stop crs -f 2 times. Sometimes this is needed.
crsctl check crs should report you that nothing is running anymore.
If it is... then only way I can think of is disable the automatic startup of crs
    crsctl disable crs
and restart the node... This will definitely bring everything down (and does not start it up after restarting).
You can then start the crs stack with crsctl start crs.
Furthermore don't get confused with oracleasm.
Oracleasm is for asmlib. Which may be used in preparating the storage for ASM but has nothing to do later with if ASM is running or not.
To check the status of ASM first see if clusterstack was started successfully (you need to wait a little till it is started):
    crsctl check crs.
Everything should be online... if it is, you can do a crsctl stat res -t which will show you all ressources including if ASM is running.
If there has been a problem starting up the stack (crsctl check crs) then we have to find out why.
    Check $CRS_HOME/log/<hostname>/alert*.log for error messages.
If something indicates a problem with ASM do a:
    adrci
    show alert
    and choose the ASM alert.log.
    Search for error messages.
    GL.
SebastianThank you, I'd not known of adrci before!! Once I set the ORACLE_HOME, it came right up!
Ok, it does look like ASM problem...and clustering can't find the voting disc.

  • Configuration of WAS  Core Managers and Services.

    hi guys
can anyone tel me how to do config  of WAS Core Managers and Services and Configuration of WAS
    Clustered Environment.
    thanks & regards
    kamal..

    Hi praveen,
When you log in to the Visual administrator, Expand the Kernel node and choose the manager name from the list of available managers.
When it comes to service, there are two types. 1. Service for runtime administration . 2. Service for Properties administration.
Expand the Services node and choose the service name from the list of available services.
Important managers to consider are Applications thread manager, Class loader manager, Cache manager, Thread manager, Ip verification manager, Service manager etc. Each one of it performs its own action.
When you log in to Visual administrator and select Kernel and then manager, it will give you a detailed description and its purpose.
Under service we have timeout service, http service, adapter service etc,

  • EXPORT_TABLE_UPDATE_CONFLICT

    Hello All,
We are running Win 2003 on SQL Server 2005 on a Microsoft Cluster environment. During our high availability testing, we get this error "EXPORT_TABLE_UPDATE_CONFLICT" in ST22. We are logged in using App Server and are moving our SAP resources from Node A to Node B within the cluster administrator. Even though the GUI doesn't log us out, but it gives the above error and when we cancel the error, everything works normally.
Again when we move back from Node B to Node A, it gives the same error. SAP notes doesn't have any reference to this kind of error analysis.
Also, we are getting this same error in all of our SAP systems (ECC, BW, SRM,....) that are installed on clustered environment.
Below is the ST22 error dump:
    Runtime Error          EXPORT_TABLE_UPDATE_CONFLICT
    Date and Time          27.07.2006 16:29:59
    ShrtText
Problems found during the EXPORT to specified key in table.
    What happened?
         Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "SAPLSMTR_NAVIGATION_MODULES" had to be terminated
          because one of the
         statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
    What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
         error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
         date.
is especially useful if you want to keep a particular message.
    Error analysis
The table "INDX " does not contain any data records with the specified key.The system called the internal SAP database interface because it
expected to find such a key.
    to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
    use the following search criteria:
    "EXPORT_TABLE_UPDATE_CONFLICT" C
    "SAPLSMTR_NAVIGATION_MODULES" or "LSMTR_NAVIGATION_MODULESU03"
    "NAVIGATION_EXECUTE_OBJECT_HELP"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
    1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->
       Save->Local File (unconverted)".
    2. A suitable printout of the system log
To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
       "System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
       supply the source code.
    Information on where terminated
The termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLSMTR_NAVIGATION_MODULES" in
         "NAVIGATION_EXECUTE_OBJECT_HELP".
The main program was "SAPLSMTR_NAVIGATION ".
The termination occurred in line 56 of the source code of the (Include)
         program "LSMTR_NAVIGATION_MODULESU03"
of the source code of program "LSMTR_NAVIGATION_MODULESU03" (when calling the
         editor 560).
ANY RESPONSE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AND ALSO REWARDED WITH LOTS OF POINTS.
    Thanks,
    Fahad

well we have to have a look at the version you are using and what component is controlled by the SAP Resource.
up to netweaver 2004 the ABAP Central Instance was clustered. In case of an move from one node to the next one the CI was taken offline (shutdown), the basic resources moved to the next node and taken online again there. In this case central components will not be able to work during the failover and open transactions using resources in the CI will also fail in any way.
starting with NW 2004S the SAP resource group will normaly only contain the so called SAP Central Services (message server and standalone enqueue server). This instance is called SCS for the J2EE part and ASCS for the ABAP server.
For every SCS/ASCS instance there is one replication server on every clusternode which will enable a failover of the enque server without loosing the enqueue table.
And here comes the possible reason for the error you obtained, if running in an NW 2004S SCS/ASCS configuration:
Moving a resource group means taking the resource offline, move them to the next node and bringing them online again. Taking a resource offline will do a normal shutdown of the application.
If you want to move the SCS/ASCS SAP Resource to the next node in a cluster without loosing the enqueue table you have to enforce a failover by right clicking on the SAP Instance Resource and select <b>Initiate Failure</b>. In this case the SCS Instance will failover without loosing the enqueue table, because the enqueue server will not receive a normal stop request.

Can someone assist me in what to do please, Thanks in advance!

    Hi all ,
We found the solution for this issue .
We have installed the crypto library in global executable directory and any way it will replicate those binaries to individual application servers.
But the parameters are still looking for global executable directory for loading crypto library during time.
So all application servers are trying to load crypto library files from global "exe" instead of local directory, which was clustered .Sometimes during  heavy network load it may cause some delays to load the libraries to individual application servers and in turn is causing the license key issues.
Note 982056 - The license key library has not been initialized yet..
SAP Recommend option for all SSF parameters should be instance profile parameters not in default parameters..This was mentioned in below note:
Note 662340 - SSF Encryption Using the SAPCryptolib --- .
But in our Environment SSF and SEC parameter were set in DEFAULT profile instead Instance profile.
    Recommendations:
    o     ssf/ssfapi_lib  = <Path and file name of SAPCRYPTOLIB>
    o     sec/libsapsecu  = <Path and file name of SAPCRYPTOLIB>
This was mentioned in the below SAP HELP.

I migrated from Netware to Linux a few years ago. It was clustered as well.
Actually I think the move may be easier than it was with other products.
Basically made the volume that had the all the files on it available to
linux and did the install. On the new 3.0 you need to tell it directory
based when you start the extend schema. It will come up fine. I do like how
    clean the install/upgrade went here.

JMS Provider is configured with JMS server TTT and corresponding 4 queue factories and 1 topic factory.
If you can see anything wrong with this configuration, I would really appreciate your comments.
Maybe there is something specific that must be configured for JMS in a clustered environment?
    Thanks.

there may be cluster Q , check once or you should change the values in all cluster servers locally .

  • MSCS clustering for NW04s WAS Java

    Hi,
I am setting up HA environment for a client in WIN 2003. This setup is one MSCS cluster with 2 nodes (active-passive) in it. I have installed SCS in node A and DBINSTANCE in node B, created SAP Cluster group and DB cluster group.
Now iam installing CI (Central instance) on server 3 outside the MSCS cluster nodes. While installing it say 'SCS instance not found'.
The WAS7.0  java installation guide has the option for installing CI & DI on seperate servers which is outside the cluster nodes.  If any one done this before, can you give me the solution for this. I am using 4 server, 2 for MSCS nodes, 3rd for CI and 4th for DI
    Thanks
    Prakash

    Hi Anand,
You will need the usage type BI Java for all new reporting features of 2004s (of which report designer is just one component), BI Java includes the EP and AS Java usage types.
Universal Data Connect or Web Services testing functions requires the AS Java usage type.
    Please check https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/bifaq

Please assign points if this was a usefull answer to you.

I face the same issue and I have given all permissions to the folder for OS user.
Because of this error my server is not starting up . Is there any way I can undeploy this composite to get my server running.
I cant do this from EM because SOA server is failing to start up.
I have tried removing it from $DOMAIN_HOME/deployed-composites but still when i try restarting the soa server the composite comes up there. Do we need to delete the entry some where else too. Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    Sri.

  • Hyper-V could not replicate changes for virtual machine 'machinename': The connection with the server was terminated abnormally (0x00002EFE).

I have a 3 node cluster that has replica setup to replicate to another cluster off-site.
Suddenly one of the servers is not replicating with the error:
Hyper-V could not replicate changes for virtual machine 'machinename': The connection with the server was terminated abnormally (0x00002EFE). (Virtual Machine ID CC0FD4CC-F9B7-4C68-ABE8-B7D52A87899F)
All other servers are replicating fine so there cannot be a permissions or connectivity issue between the 2 clusters.
This server has 2TB of data so I'd rather not have to start the replication again.
    Does anyone have any pointers?
    Thanks.

    Hi drensta,
Based on my knowledge , "hyper-v replica broker " is needed for failover cluster replica .
Here is a link for "Why is the "Hyper-V Replica Broker" required?"
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/virtualization/archive/2012/03/27/why-is-the-quot-hyper-v-replica-broker-quot-required.aspx
    Hope this hleps
