3 Node DAG with DR site

Hi team,
I have a primary site with 2 CAS (WNLB) and 2 MBX servers with DAG configured. I want to extend this to include a DR site with 1 CAS and 1 MBX server. FSW on Primary site is set to CAS server.
If the PRimary site goes down completely, is it correct that the DR DAG member will not come up since there's no majority?
related to Q1, what steps do i need to follow to get the DR DAG node up and running?
If I set up a secondary FSW on the DR Site CAS, can I get majority vote and get the DR DAG node up automatically?
What's DAC's role here?
Thank you.
Chris!

Hi Crypto,
1.If the PRimary site goes down completely, is it correct that the DR DAG member will not come up since there's no majority? For a 3 server DAG it will be offline if two servers
are lost.  You must manually intervene at this point. we discourage automatic fail-over of DAG to DR manual fail-over is better. Make sure DAG is in DAC mode.
2. related to Q1, what steps do i need to follow
to get the DR DAG node up and running?
Install a server with all roles and add the MBX server to the DAG install an ADC in DR site and point Exchange server in DR to the ADC in DR using Set-ADServerSettings. Configure alternate witness(FSW in a 3 member DAG check next question's answer).
Please check this to configure alternatewitness server and enable DAC on the DAG. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd297934(v=exchg.150).aspx
3.If I set up a secondary FSW on the DR Site CAS, can I get majority
vote and get the DR DAG node up automatically?
In a 3 member DAG FSW is being ignored. Read this. You have to manually bring the DR Exchange online.
4.What's DAC's role here?
We enable DAC to prevent split-brain when data center goes offliine.

Hi MAS,
Thank you and sorry for the delay. Can I have the same setup with 3 nodes under a single site and keep one node as a DR location (But not in an AD Site)?
Thank you,
Chris.

  • Losing quorum on 3 node dag with the lose of only 1 node.

We have exchange 2010 latest version and rollups as of June 30, 2014. running on Windows 2008R2 also patched on June 30th. Two nodes in Seattle (primary DC) and 1 node in Spokane (backup DC) active mailboxes are in Seattle site only when running normally.
All 3 servers run MB, CAS and HUB. We are about to LB the CAS on an F5 BigIP box, but that is not in place yet.
We had discovered a few months ago that something is amiss when we were doing updates on the 1 server in Spokane. Normally it would be no issue to suspend replication, patch the server, restart it and resume replication. This would not cause any outages.
Now when we restart that server, or any of the 3 server for that matter, the quorum is lost and the cluster service is terminated on the 2 server that were still up and running when the other was rebooted.
I've been researching this problem and did discover that the 2nd server in Seattle had no vote and have resolved that issue, but the problem continues.
Strangely enough, when looking at Failover cluster Manager, the warning is there next to Quorum configuration that the loss of a node will bring the cluster down, YET when running validation testing, the report says the cluster can survive the failure of
a node. It's contradictory. So we are looking to find out what is the issue. Once the server reboots and is back up, I can manually restart the cluster service on the 2 nodes that were not rebooted and the infrastructure comes up just fine.
However, this is not what a 3 node cluster should do. Any ideas where else to look to resolve this problem?

Thanks. I did remove a few lines that I hope you were not looking for.
some background: Originally this was a 2 node DAG, just in Seattle, a third node was added in Spokane about a year ago. At the 2nd member was sea-mail-02, but it was removed (properly) and sea-mail-03 was added (this was about 5 months ago)
It was not until we did our 3rd DR test that we had some problems getting the DAG to mount in Spokane. We got some help from MS pro support and got things working. Lots of cluster commands were issued in PS and since then, we are having this issue.

  • Exchange 2013 DAG with single site and 2 multi-role servers with error "MapiExceptionIllegalCrossServerConnection"

    Hi,
I've got a lab with a domain controller and an Hyper-v with on it two multi-role exchange 2013 CU7 servers on W2K12 R2 OS, configured in DAG semplified (but the problem is the same also if I use the classical DAG configuration), a witness server, and a L7
load balancer for the exchange servers.
When I made the test to disable the OWA application pool where I've got the active mailbox database of the user, the balancer in correct manner redirect the session to the other exchange multi-role server, but the client in  his OWA session is no more
able to send new mail with the error "Error your request can't be completed rigt now. Please try again later."
The only strange log that I see on the server in the MAPI client access directory where there is the following error message:

  • How does Dynamic Quorum work for a two Node DAG

    Hi All,
I have a two node DAG with a FS witness server. One of the node is 'down' (I have kept it like that), cluster has quorum and all services are online.
What I'm trying to understand is if a node's State=Down, isn't the Dynamic Quorum Group Manager suppose to trigger and set the DynamicWeight to '0' for that server.
In my case its not doing so, please let me know if this the way it is, or something is not quite right and I need to fix it.
    Troubleshooting info below:
PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-ClusterNode | ft name, dynamicweight, state, nodeweight,id -AutoSize
    Name DynamicWeight State NodeWeight Id
    exch1 1 Down 1 1
    exch2 1 Up 1 2
    PS C:\Windows\system32> (Get-Cluster).WitnessDynamicWeight
    1
    PS C:\Windows\system32> Get-ClusterResource
    Name State OwnerGroup ResourceType
Cluster IP Address Online Cluster Group IP Address
Cluster Name Online Cluster Group Network Name

    exch1
    Down
    1
    1
    exch2
    Up
    1
    1
This quorum model will be able to sustain failures of 1 node(s) if the file share witness remains available
and 0 node(s) when the file share witness goes offline or fails.
This quorum configuration can be changed using the Configure Cluster Quorum wizard. This wizard can be started from the Failover
Cluster Manager console by selecting the cluster name in the left hand pane, then in the right "actions" pane selecting "More Actions..." and then selecting "Configure Cluster Quorum Settings...".
    When all servers were up
node/2+1 = 2/2+1=2 required for quorum and we have 3 votes
When 1 server gone 1/2+1=1 quorum should recalculate to this. But its still considering 3 votes out of 1down server+1up server+1witness. Ideally I should be able to loose the witness too aftersome time  and still maintain quorum(unlike what
    the validation test is saying).

    Hi Simon,
    Thanks for your response.
I have done some study, testing and what I figured out is this.
Split brain syndrome is prevented by always requiring a majority of the DAG members (and in the case of DAGs with an even number of member, the DAG witness server) to be available and interacting for the DAG to be operational.
All DAGs with an even number of members must use a witness server.
Hence a 3 node cluster behaves differently than a 2 node. Exchange 2013 DAG kind of forces you to have a witness server always.
You can specify only a name for the DAG and leave the Witness server and
Witness directory fields empty. In this scenario, the task will search for a Client Access server that doesn't have the Mailbox server role installed. It will automatically create the default witness directory and share on that Client Access
server and configure the DAG to use that server as its witness server.
    You can
'overridde the quorum configuration using Windows2012 Failover Cluster Manager', however using it to modify a DAG is not recommended.
If you open Failover Cluster Manager in Administrative Tools, you’ll find the Database Availability Group (DAG), cluster networks and so on. Don’t try to manage the DAG
using the Failover Cluster Manager, as this isn’t supported. The Exchange Management Console (EMC) or the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) are the only ways to manage the DAG.
Unless you’re doing a DC switchover and/or being assisted by Microsoft Support services (premier)
    Now back to the point:
When we are left with 2 nodes and 1 witness server for Exchange HA. The Dynamic Quorum functionality kind of stops dealing with it. As 2nodes/2+1=2votes this means we need to have atleast 2 votes to have quorum.
So if we assume Dynamic Quorum triggers and removes 2 votes, 1 from Witness and 1 from nodeB.
Then the new formula we have is 1node/2+1=1vote which would mean this would allow us to loose both the witness and the nodeB. And nodeA will be the last man standing as in this
    article.
However having this scenario in a two node cluster brings in the split-brain problem. As if there is a full disconnect of nodeA site and nodeB+Witness can talk, they form quorum , nodeB mounts the database. Which is undesirable.
Hence Dynamic Quorum keeps the votes to 3 in a 2nodes+1witness scenario contrary to what is expected and in turn keeps everything running fine till we have 2votes available, just like 2010,Windows2008 days.

    Satyajit

  • Exchange 2010 - Multi Site DAG with DAC - Node evicted

I have a 2 site DAG with 4 members, 2 at each site with DAC set.
    Primary Site:
    EXMB01
    EXMB02
    FSW
    Failover Site:
    EXMB03 - PAM
    EXMB04
    AFSW
After updating and rebooting one of the members in the primary active site (exmb02), it looks like the server was removed from the cluster as it was booting back up:
    Event ID: 4621
    Source: FailoverClustering
This node was successfully removed from the cluster.
Directly preceding that, in the Failover Cluster Manager events, I can see the following progression:
    Event ID: 4620
    Task Category: Cluster Evict/Destroy Cleanup
Unloading the cluster service registry hive during cluster node cleanup failed. The error code was '3221225569'. You may be unable to create or join a cluster with this machine until cleanup has been successfully completed. For manual cleanup, execute the
'Clear-ClusterNode' PowerShell cmdlet on this machine.
and then: Cluster node cleanup encounted at least one error. You may be unable to create or join a cluster with this machine until cleanup has been successfully completed. Please review and resolve preceding cluster node cleanup events. For manual cleanup,
execute the 'Clear-ClusterNode' PowerShell cmdlet on this machine.
And then from all three other nodes:
Node MGR: Cluster node USTRYCO01EXMB02 has been evicted from the failover cluster.
I intend to move the PAM role back to the primary sight, I had not noticed it was there.
Curiously, if I run Cluster.exe node, I can see that all 4 nodes are listed as UP.
What do I need to do to recover EXMB02?  I've read that sometimes just a reboot will clean up the cluster configuration,  but how would I add the node back into the cluster?  Why is it still listed as a node if it was evected?  Also,
what is the significance of having the PAM role in the primary data center as opposed to the failover data center?

    Hi,
From the error message, you need to run the following cmdlet to force the cleanup on server EXMB02.
    CLUSTER NODE /FORCECLEANUP
For more details about error 4620 and 4622, you can refer to these two articles: Event ID 4620 — Node Cleanup Success
    and
Event ID 4622 — Node Cleanup Success.
About PAM, the PAM role is automatically held by the DAG member that owns the cluster’s core resource group. It doesn't matter what site the PAM is in, if the server that owns the cluster quorum resource fails, the PAM role automatically moves to a surviving
server that takes ownership of the cluster quorum resource.

  • Rolling upgrade in MAA database with 2 node RAC on each site

    All,
I have 2 node rac on SITE A, and it has Physical Standby database on SITE B it also 2 node RAC. Currently it is on 10.2.0.4 on AIX systems. We have mission crictical application runing and we can't aford the downtime of 5 to 6 hr to upgrade our CRS,ASM,DB oracle homes to 11G or even 10.2.0.5. I read rolling upgrade document on metalink and also documnet as well, and come up with following sequence.
SITE A==Primary Site, SITE B == Standby database
    1) Shutdown DB on SITE B
    2) Take the OS Level Backup of Binaries only on SITE B (Both node), I think this is just a Precautionary Measure
    3) Start the DB on SITE B Still Physical Standby database let it synch with primary Site SITE A
    4) Convert SITE B to Logical standby database
    5) let it run for some time and be the two site SYNCH
    6) now stop archivelog shipping to STANDBY SITE SITE B
    7) Shutdown SITE B and apply the patch/upgrade binaries (CRS/ASM/DB)
    8) Start and upgrade the DB on SITE B
    9) Start the logical standby apply (SQL APPLY) and let it catch up with SITE A
    10) Now Switchover to logical standby database on SITE B and ask application to connect to SITE B
    11) Make sure the archivelogs are moving from SITE B to SITE A and SQL Apply is runing.
    12) Now Stop archive log flow from SITE B to SITE A
    13) Stop the database/ASM/CRS on SITE A
    14) upgrade the SITE A binaries (CRS/ASM/DB)
    15) Start and upgrade the DB on SITE A
    16) Start the logical standby apply (SQL APPLY) and let it catch up with SITE B
    17) Now Switchover Back to SITE A and let the application connect to SITE A
At this point by SITE B is a Logical Standby database
I think these summaries the steps involved in rolling upgrade, but I can't understand how I can go back to my MAA with physical standby database mode?
Does anyone has done this? Can anyone give me some tips or comments on my steps??
Help me if you can... thanks in advance.

Is it you want to know the OS/Kernel side setting? You must comply with the following kernel requirements to install the clusterware.

  • Proper way to install windows update on Exchange 2010 DAG with one mailbox server in Head Office and 1 mailbox server in DR site both are members of 1 DAG

    Hi Guyz,
I have this setup in my exchange environment.
    1 DAG with 2 members
    - One member is located in Head Office and the other member is located in DR site. All of the mailbox databases are located only in HO (Plan to add additional second member in HO soon). Now what is the proper way to install windows patches on the
member in HO? I don't want to move the databases to DR site as much as possible.
Appreciate your feedback and Many thanks in advance guyz..
    More power to all!
    Regards,

    Hi,
To update the DAG members with new patches, the update process should be managed to prevent all of the DAG members from being offline at the same time.
To do this, I recommend you move the active mailbox databases off a particular server so that it can be patched, and if necessary rebooted, without causing any downtime for mailbox users on that database.
For detailed steps, here is an article for your reference.

    Hi All
Current setup of my lab is below -
MAIN SITE - Named Head Office
    Root Domain Controller : IP 172.29.154.1 / 255.255.0.0
    Two node DAG : - Mailbox servers - DAG NAME - DAG1
    Casarray (casaarray1 , and casarray2) servers
    One hub transport server
Total 6 VM servers are running in the head office site
Created a new AD site for name Branch Office and installed a addition domain controller with IP of 10.10.10.1/255.0.0.0
Now i would like to implement the DAG between the sites .
how can i implement, i mean what are the best ways to implement the DAG between two sites
    1. shall i go for  typical installation of exchange (CAS, HUB , MAILBOX ) 2010 in main office and Branch office . will it support DAG between two sites for typical installation?
    2. shall i install one more Mailbox server alone in MAIN SITE and install CAS and hub in one server and mailbox alone in the branch office site? i mean -  two Mailbox servers in each site
any other best ways other than above two points , the main intention is to implementing, testing and learning the site resilience between the sites and want to know the stuffs in and around DAC
    Thanks in advance

so, i was assuming that i will add one mbx server in main site and another mbx server in branch site and make it HA via DAG --- is it possible
    Next option
i can go for  typical installation of ( CAS , HUB MBX server (all three in  in one server) in main site and another three server roles (aal in one server) of Branch  office and make the mailbox for HA -- will it possible
how can i achieve the HA with my current setup between the sites
If your bandwidth and  latency between sites  you
can have  HA for mailbox databases by adding a mailbox server as a member in the current DAG. DAG will
give you only HA for mailbox not HUB/CAS.
After you installed the Mailbox role on the branch server, You have to set autodiscover site affinity.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998575(v=exchg.141).aspx
It is little bit complicated if you want HA over 2 sites, It depends on the bandwidth and latency between sites. If
you install all the 3 roles  and configure the branch site as part of the main branch ADsite you can have highly availability for CAS by a load balancer and this is not a small change. i.e. add the branch server to the Main office CAS
    Array and load balance.

If the branch site is not Internet facing, Please check this.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310763(v=exchg.141).aspx
adding an MBX/HUB/CAS in your branch office and buy a hardware load balancer of your budget. List
of MS supported HLBs here.  Configure the load balancer to according to your bandwidth and latency
    between sites.
    Thanks, MAS

    Couple of comments please!
Autodiscover sitescope is a function of CAS not mailbox.  This is written into AD when the CAS role is installed.
Why are you splitting all the roles out like this?  The recommendation in 2010 and 2013 is to multirole whenever possible.  There are valid reasons for splitting, I just want to know what's driving you to this.
The preferred DC switch is just for the current PowerShell session IIRC.  I'll check up on that though.
I'd ask you to look at the design examples on TechNet
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979781(v=exchg.141).aspx
In all of this, you have to consider what the impact of a failed WAN link(s) will do.  If you have a single DAG spanning both locations, and the WAN goes down then in the case of a single DAG spanned between both of the sites some users will not have
access to a local mailbox server.  The cluster service terminates and so does the Exchange store.  That is by design.

  • Outlook connectivity and mail flow issue on Exchange 2010 3 node DAG

    Hi,
I have 3 node DAG, 2 (NODE A, NODE B) in Production site and 1(NODE C) in DR site. but just 1 AD Site.
when I have the active databases on NODE B, everything works fine. no issues to report.
but when I move the databases on NODE A, outlook gets connected with trying to update folders. Furhter, emails will be in outbox and no new emails will be delivered to the users. After an hour or so emails get delivered from outbox.
Even after supplying the credentials OWA doesnt login. just tries to load.
No issues when I move the servcies on NODE C.
ANy idea what could be the issue?
    Thanks,
    Vinod

    Hi Vinod,
According to your description, there is one-hour delay in the process of sending and receiving emails.
To check if it’s caused by Autodiscover service, we can use the tool Test Email AutoConfiguration:
    1. Hold CTRL and Click the outlook Icon in the system tray and select “Test Email Auto Configuration”.
    2. Deselect the “Use Guessmart” and “Secure Guessmart Authentication” and click Test.
    3. Check SCP value returned
For more information, please refer to the following article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchdxb/archive/2012/05/10/troublshooting-autodiscover-exchange-2007-2010.aspx
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2663435
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/262052
If connectivity is well, the issue is mostly likely caused by the Exchange mail submission service.
We can check if the service work properly. And the issue may be not related to the Hardware Load Balancer. Because the emails are stuck in the client side.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you had Errors TF30162 and TF250025 when creating a New Team Project in TFS2012 with Sharepoint Site on Visual Studio.
The Errors TF30162 seemed that the reports for TFS could not be uploaded due a permission problem. The fix was really easy.
Go to your team foundation server
    Open the administration console.
    Click on Reporting
    Click on Edit
    Click on Reports Tab
Enter the credential for the Reports
    Save
    Click on Start Jobs
In addtion, the problem may be due to the caching done by Team Explorer in Visual Studio. Exiting the copy of VS on the client and reloading it will fix the problem as the updated team process settings will cached locally.
To resolve the Errors TF250025, you will need to register a new internal URL for the SharePoint site using Alternate Access Mappings.
Here are two great blogs for you to take a look at:
    http://blogbaris.blogspot.in/2012_08_01_archive.html
    http://petersullivan.com.au/2009/11/23/tf250025-and-tf262600-errors-on-team-foundation-server-tfs-2010-project-portal-dashboard/
If still no help, for quick and accurate answers to your questions, it is recommended that you initial a new thread in Visual Studio Team Foundation Server forums.

  • Search query not able to find node under a specific site structure (eg. 2013/05)?

    Hi,
We are saving our data on a node under year/month site structure, eg. (2013/05/node1) but when we search for the data using a query in a custom workflow., it does not fetch any results. The query being fired is something like :
       SELECT * FROM [nt:base] AS s WHERE ISDESCENDANTNODE([/content/hm/NewsroomSection/en/NewsRoom/NewsroomDetails/2013/05/node1]) .
On trying to run this query directly in crxde, it shows no result. But when we change the site structure to 2013/5/node1, it is able to fetch results.
I am not sure if the problem is because of the '0' digit in the month in site structure (2013/05).
Please provide your input if any of you have come across something like this before ..
    Thanks
    Abhishek

    Hi Abhishek,
In case of nodes with numbers, any node starting with 0, this 0 gets omitted in the search query.
So, if your node name is like 02013 for year, when it searches it omits 0 and searches for 2013.
In case you want to search for your node, your SQL2 query should be like below:
    SELECT * FROM [nt:base] AS s WHERE ISDESCENDANTNODE(['/content/mysite/en/products/2013/05'])
See screenshot for reference. This should return you the results.
    Hope this helps.
I guess for more reference on SQL2 queries, you can refer to JCR 2.0 spec.
    http://www.day.com/specs/jcr/2.0/6_Query.html
Also, you might want to look at the railroad diagrams and some examples from Jackrabbit's test cases:
    http://www.h2database.com/jcr/grammar.html
    http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/jackrabbit/trunk/jackrabbit-spi-commons/src/test/resources/or g/apache/jackrabbit/spi/commons/query/sql2/test.sql2.txt?view=markup
    Hope this helps.

  • Exchange 2010 Decommisioning a DAG member from a 3 node Dag

    Hi Guys,
What the safest way to remove one server from a 3 Node Dag.
Currently I am planning the following steps:-
Remove Exchange server MAIL03 from DAG
    1.Start up Exchange Management Console
    2.Go to Organization Configuration > Mailbox > Database Management;
    3.if mail boxes are mounted on MAIL03, Select the database where ” Mounted on Server” reads the MAIL03;
    3.1.Select Move Active Mailbox Database;
    3.2.Select the Mailbox server i.e. MAIL01\MAIL02 to host the mailbox database copy and select Move;
5.When the move has finished, select the database copy hosted on the MAIL03 in the lower pane. There, select Remove.
    6.Remove the MAIL03 server from the DAG. Select tab Database Availability Groups;
    7.Select the DAG the MAL03 server is a member of and select Manage Database Availability Group Membership;
    8.Select the server and click the red cross to remove it from the list. Click Manage to proceed with the actual removal;
9.When finished the mailbox server is no longer member of the DAG.
    10.Rebalance Mailbox Databases in DAG.
    What do you guys recommend?
Also after the removal of the DAG node, what the best way to reduce the Passive Database/Transaction logs? our current setup is as follows:-
I want to remove the drives L,M,N,O
    Thanks
    Jitinder

    Hello,
    Based on your description.
If you want to remove drives only from that server and leave databases working on the rest of nodes:
    1. Remove database copy on that server.
    2. Remove drives.
It is not required to move mailboxes from these databases. In this scenario you will not be able to re-add copy of these databases because all nodes need to have the same drive
    letters.
If you want to remove L, M, N, O from all servers:
    1. Move mailboxes from these databases.
    2. Remove them (copies and empty dabatabes).
    3. Remove drives.
There is no need to remove server from DAG if you just want to remove database copy from one node.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Recommded DAG for 4 site Exchange Org

    Hi,
I'm with client that has 4 Exchange/AD sites: Virgiinia, California, UK and Germany.
All sites are well connected. Each Database has 3 copies total (CA and VA sharing copies, UK and Germany sharing copies). What would be the best solution in this scenario to have one DAG or 2 DAGS (one for europe and one for America)? Please factor in the
scenario where the link between Europe and North America goes down even though there are no databases being share between the two continents.
    ms

    Hi,
I recommend pay attention to below link about Database availability groups and Exchange 2010 Tested Solutions with two sites(especially, steps 8 in Determine High Availability Strategy section):

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg558613(v=exchg.141).aspx
You can do it testing in your lad before modify your product environment.

  • Unexpected start node "Insert" with namespace...

    Hi,
I have a simple Biztalk app which receives an XML and sends to oracle DB using WCF-custom adapter.
I generated schema from Visual Studio, created a map for inbound XSD to generated XSD mapping, deployed the app.
Send port is configured to use the map and there is no orchestration.
I run into following error. The error description is understood, but I am not able to see why it is happening.
The adapter failed to transmit message going to send port "SendPort12" with URL "oracledb://DEVDB/". It will be retransmitted after the retry interval specified for this Send Port. Details:"Microsoft.ServiceModel.Channels.Common.XmlReaderParsingException: Unexpected start node "Insert" with namespace "http://Microsoft.LobServices.OracleDB/2007/03/DEVSCHEMA/Table/SITES" found.
    SOAP Action is :

    <Operation Name="Insert" Action="http://Microsoft.LobServices.OracleDB/2007/03/DEVSCHEMA/Table/SITES/Insert" />
    </BtsActionMapping>
I have checked multiple posts on different sites for this error. I am still not able to figure out what is causing this. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • 3 Node DAG - Failover??

    I have a Dag setup,
    Main Site:
    MB1 (2010 SP1)
    MB2 (2010 SP1)
    3 node CAS array
    DR Site:
    MB_DR (2010 SP3) - Running as CAS
I am working through installing SP3, DR site has been completed, all the CAS servers have been completed.  I set MB2 to maintenance mode using .\startdagmaintenance.ps1 - confirmed all mailboxes were off the server.
I started installing Windows patches and rebooted several times, then one round of patches took out the network interfaces, this meant the server lost access to the SAN and the cluster service failed.  This caused the mailboxes all to initiate a failover
    to the DR server!
    Now couple of questions:
    1) Since the DAG member was in maintenance mode should the fact the cluster service failed cause the DAG to initiate a failover?  I have to patch MB1 and know the network is going to do the same thing so want to stop this happening again.
    2) The DAG is in DAC mode, I didn't think that it should auto failover to the DR site?
    Thanks

There has been an issue for a while (I have only worked here 2 months, but logs show going back a year and increasing frequency where the mailboxes are failing over to the other node, normally 8 databases are split 4 on each MB1/MB2 and the Mailboxes usually
move to MB2.  I have increased the timeout values of the cluster and we haven't seen the Databases move in over a week (except when patching MB2).
It looks like there are lots of errors for CAS01's Production vNIC - could this be an issue seeing as it is the FSW?
