3750 12.2(25r)SEB & Broadcom cards = speed/duplex issue?

Hi,
I have a 3750 running 12.2(25r)SEB (image file is c3750-ipservices-mz.122-25.SEB2.bin).
We currently have a handful of new Dell boxes with Broadcom Nextreme 5700 gigabit network cards in them connected to the switch which seem to have a problem running at forced speed 100 duplex full set on both client and switch side.
The switchports don't have anything amazing in their config, simply:
switchport access vlan 125
speed 100
duplex full
spanning-tree portfast
We have proven that other types of network cards dont have a problem, one being an Intel card we have in a HP DL360.
Just wanted to know if anyone knows of any issues with this code regarding the problem I'm having.
Comments welcome.
Cheers.

Hello,
there is a bug that might relate to your problem:
Problem Description:
Link connectivity may be lost on some of the ports of Catalyst 2970, 3560, and 3750
10/100/1000 interfaces when connected to some older Gigabit NIC cards.
This problem happens when connected to the following interfaces at 10Mbps/100Mbps:
3,4,7,8,11,12,15,16,19,20,23,24 on the xxxx-24T-E and xxxx-24T-S
3,4,7,8,11,12,15,16,19,20 on the xxxx-24TS-E and xxxx-24TS-S
Symptoms:
The interface is up/up, but Data connectivity is lost
Workaround:
1. Contact the NIC vendor to obtain a driver upgrade.
2. Connect the NIC to an interface not listed above.
3. Configure the interface for 1000Mbps instead of 10/100Mbps.
Can you check if that applies to you ?

GP

  • M4 Aqua Micro Sd Card speed Specification

Hi,  I just bought a new M4 aqua phone. Now I am looking to buy a new Micro SD Card for my phone.I saw online that their are many speed specifications availaible for micro Sd cards, i.e. class 10, UHS 1, UHS 3 etc.... with Read/Write speeds ranging from 30Mb/sec to 95 Mb/Sec. I wanted to know what is the maximum possible Micro SD Card speed supported by M4 Aqua? I know that the maximum memory it supports is 128 Gb But what is the maximum possible speed SD Card that I can instalkl in M4 Aqua. RegardsYuri

Thank you all for your valuable inputs... They all were quite useful in making an informed decision.... I received the following official response from sony...Hopefully will be helpful to someone else also.....
    Dear Yuri,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre.
In regards of the Xperia M4 Aqua and the class of Micro SD card.
We would advise the device can use up to a 128GB, class 10 SD card.
Please avoid a UHS SD card as these are not compatible with the M4 Aqua.
Other then that you should face no issues with Micro SD cards.
    We hope this helps.

  • Enable wireless radio on broadcom card

I recently installed a minipci wireless card in my laptop, but I haven't been able to enable the wireless radio so I can connect to an access point. Whenever I try to scan for APs using "iwlist wlan0 scan", I get "wlan0     No scan results". I'm using the b43 driver and it recognizes my card fine, it just won't enable the radio. There's also no wireless button on the laptop (Compaq Presario r3000), as this model originally came without a wireless card. Anybody have an idea?
Edit: Here's relevant lspci output for my card:

My suggestion is not to use b43, but instead use ndiswrapper. I have found it to much more reliable and able to use the full potential of my Broadcom card (with b43 I could only get 1mb/s connections, but with ndiswrapper I can get the full 54mb/s). There is a decent section on ndiswrapper in the wireless guide linked to by the beginner's guide in the wikis. And the ndiswrapper website has a good driver you can use for bcm cards. So, give it a shot!

  • Identifying NIC card speed

    Hi All ,
Is there any command to find the NIC card speed (whether it is half duplex of full duplex). Please help me on this.
    Thank you,
    Rajesh Kannan R.

You can see what speed the card has come up in /var/adm/messages
    eg
    Jul 4 10:45:21 florida eri: [ID 786680 kern.notice] SUNW,eri0 : 100 Mbps full duplex link up
Also check out this cool cool script. The speed and duplex setting are stored in the Kernel and can be pulled out using this script, which formats them in a nice way for you.

  • Speed/Duplex are not advertising correctly with configured values

    Hi,
I have a gateway which runs on Windows Embedded Standard 7 which has Intel NIC Card.
I have connected this gateway and a switch in a network where switch has configured speed/duplex as 1000Mbps/Full.
When I set the Speed/Duplex on my gateway's NIC to Auto-Negotiate or 1000Mbps/Full, it negotiating/advertising the speed and duplex properly.
But when Speed/Duplex sets to 100Mbps/Full on gateway's NIC, in the Switch it shows that my gateway is advertising the Speed/Duplex as 100Mbps/Half Duplex.
I have checked the registry entries which sets when we configure the Speed/Duplex at adapter properties, registry entries are fine. I am not able to understand how exactly it negotiates Speed/Duplex and why it is advertising with 100Mbps/Half Duplex when
    it is configured for 100Mbps/Full.
    Thanks,
    Challask

    Hi Andy,
    Thanks for the reply.
I have checked that the configured value on the adapter is 100Mbps/FullDuplex. I am checking these configured values through the registry entry
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\00NN\*SpeedDuplex. It shows the configured value.
The doubt have here is that i have checked the enum values for this *SpeedDuplex entry, it shows in the following way:
    0 - Autonegotiation
    1- 10Mbps HalfDuplex
    2 - 10Mbps FullDuplex
    3 - 100Mbps HalfDuplex
    4 - 100Mbps FullDuplex
    6 - 1000Mbps
Why don't have here the value 5?
I have checked this registry in other Windows Operating systems, it shows correctly. Only in this Windows Embedded Standard 7 OS it shows this way. Will it create any issue? While performing the Speed/Duplex advertisement/Negotiation will it use these enum
values? If so how can I resolve this issue?
    Thanks,

    Thank you Leo,
It doesn't work, but I found an solution !
    A strange solution...
I forced the C2960G-24TC-L to work with SFP :
    media-type sfp
When I do that, I have the possibility to force the duplex (but not the speed... ok why not... ) :
    duplex full
It is not very clean but my link is up and full-100 both sides.
    Not very clean because :
C2960 side = force duplex, auto speed
SF200 side = auto duplex, auto speed
No errors... the link is clean.
Anyone known the reason or a better solution ?

hello i am using HP Pavilion G6 2311.My f2 and f3 button to adjust brightness is not working.as i just installed
window 7(32bit).And i already check in bios funaction key it is enabled.i guess its a driver issue.

thirdly and lastly card reader driver issue also
please help to fix it and
the link to download trusted DRIVERS.
    Thankyou

    Hi:
    Try this driver.
If this driver doesn't work, and you want to run W7, then you will have to install W7 64 bit, for which there are graphics drivers.

  • Having speed drop issue.

    Hi,
I am having a speed drop issue since about this Saturday, in the night time and I dont see what the problem is?. The connection is being tested with ethernet cable straight to the HH3 and I have nothing else running in the background, no updates on the PC and all consoles are shutdown etc.. does anyone know why this is because I have never had this issue before and you will notice the speed drop downstream of about 2MB missing in the synch speed test, all tests I do I get the same results in the 22.6MB range Downstream and the uploadstream is always the same result at 2.26MB:-

    Thanks guys for the replys.
@sjtp. Yes mate I agree maybe I should not be so concerned about the speed issue seen as though I do have a prity solid good connection for everything, its just a little annoying I am losing over 2MB somewhere, some how.
@curiousfellow. I have done just that m8ty and found channel 3 seems to be the best for me. I do get upto 300mbps on devices and no drop. I have ran through them all and noted down speeds, traces (bbc.co.uk) and pings to speedtest.net site and channel 3 is doing me justice it seems, its just the over 2MB difference that is bugging me out.
Can you see though guys, in my test it says 25.3MB to my modem but to my PC using ethernet to my HH3 I am gettting 22.6MB, I am losing quite alot, but why is the big question???, it is really annoying me, its not as though I am using long ethernet cables to connect to my HH3 or to my PC they are just normal length cables, actually also they are Cat 6 not 5 so there top notch ethernet cables, gold as well, I didched the BT ones for better cables!!!!. One time when I was first connected to Infinity, 6 months back I was getting around 27000kbps to my PC but that gradually went down so I went along with that cause others connected to Infinity in my area and I was one of the first houses to connect so I expected a drop but now over time it seems to be gradually getting lower and lower to my frustration!!!.

  • IPS Speed & Duplex settings

I have a 4240 inline between an ASA and a Switch, and am experiencing errors on the switch indicating receive discards.
The devices are directly connected like this, ASA --- IPS --- SWITCH. The ASA and Switch have the speed/duplex fixed to 100/Full, but the IPS is auto negotiate. Both ports have negotiated to 100/Half, which I believe is causing the issue (open to alternative suggestions) however if I change to fixed parameters I loose connectivity. How should these connections be configured to remove the errors?

Network Interfaces do not support fixed configuration of speed and duplex on one device and auto negotiate on the other device.
The device set to auto negotiate will send out negotiation queries to the other device, but because the other device is fixed it will not respond to the queries. The devices with the fixed speed and duplex does Not respond with the fixed speed and duplex, and instead just simply does not respond at all to the auto negotiation queries.
So the device with auto negotiation is not able to determine the settings for the other device, and will set it's own speed and duplex to the default settings for that NIC. On most 10/100 and 10/100/1000 copper interfaces the default will be 100 Half Duplex.
So for auto negotiation to work properly you Must set Both devices to auto negotions.
If you will fix speed and duplex on one device, then you must also fix speed and duplex on the other device.
The other thing to keep in mind is the type of cable connecting the 2 devices.
For 10/100 interfaces you have to be very carefull of the type of cable being used. When connecting the sensor to a switch it must be a standard cable. BUT when connecting the sensor to a Firewall, Router, or PC, then it likely needs to be a CrossOver cable. (The switch has built in the equivalent of crossover directly within its ports, but firewalls, routers, etc... generally do not)
If you are using 10/100/1000 interfaces on both devices, and have both devices set to auto negotiate; then in most cases the type of cable will not matter. When auto negotiate begins they will determine the cable type and one of the 2 will automatically do a sort of internal crossover if needed, and will then auto negotiate to 1000 Full.
HOWEVER, if you fix the speed and duplex then just like with 10/100 interfaces you have to be very carefull that you are using the right type of cable. There will not be any negotiation and so your cable choice must be very specific. In most instances you will need to use a crossover cable when connecting the sensor to a Firewall or Router, but use a standard cable when connecting to a switch.
So be sure to set speed and duplex the same on both devices. Either both devices with fixed speed and duplex, or both devices with auto negotiated speed and duplex.
And be sure you are suing the right type of cable for your particular connections.

  • Express card speed

Hi own probably the first MacBook Pro released (its a 15" with 1.83 gighz processor, 1 gig RAM) and I use it to run a portable Protools Digi002 unit. Currently I plug the audio interface (Digi002) into my glyph firewire 400 port and then plug the glyph to my MacbookPro with a Firewire400 cable. I am daisy chaining two devices into one. My MacbookPro has only one firewire 400 port. It all works, but it is a little slow.
My question is this. I hear there are adaptors to give me additional connectivity via Express Card. If I buy one with E-SATA will I get that transfer speed through the Express Card slot? Or should I buy an express card with Firewire 800? Can anyone recommend a good adaptor?
I'm hoping I will get better performance once I quit daisy chaining all my devices.
    Thanks!
    Gary

If you are going to go through the trouble, go with the eSata. Since you are planning on multiple drives you need to be sure to buy an Expresscard/34 with an eSata interface that supports a port multiplier and NCQ. There are several manufacturers and prices range quite a bit. Check out Other World Computing as they have good pricing. Their Apiotek card supports Macs along with RAID 0/1/5.
Also, if you want some real performance you will need to max out your RAM. I run 4GB on my MacBook Pro. It is a 2.4Ghz 17" model. The additional RAM makes a big difference. Another suggestion is to upgrade your internal hard drive. They have a number of new models out and you can run a 7200 RPM drive with up to 320GB of capacity inside a MacBook Pro.
    Good luck!

  • 4k video recording and microSD card speed

Hello, I am currently trying to find what microSD card type Xperia Z2 needs to shoot 4k videos smoothly. Is UHS Speed Class 1 (U1) card with about 30 MB/s writing speed enough to shoot 4k videos with no problems at all? I am just asking if Sandisk Ultra series are enough and should I bother with Sandisk Extreme for example with 45 MB/s writing speed or with Xperia Z2 4k video recording I won't see any difference?

sandisk shows better compatibility with xperias
also beside of writing speed you must format your sd card with "exFAT" format, caues of 4GB writing limit

  • 802.11n Router / 802.11b/g wireless card & speed

Will I see a significant increase in speed/performance if I upgrade just my router to 802.11n, or do I need to swap out all my cards/adapters as well?

It is better to swap the wireless cards/adapters to 802.11n along with the router if you are looking for better speed/performance.

  • Lock speed/duplex on Gigabit-interface in Catalyst 3750?

    Hi
How do I lock speed to 1000 and Duplex to full on a switch-interface in a Catalyst 3750? Default is "Auto-duplex, Auto-speed" and the only relevant command I can find is "speed nonegotiate" but even with this command on an interface show interface saids Auto, Auto.

CCNA, CCNP, yada yada yada. ;)

As I said it depends on what type of interface you have. You have a 10/100/1000 Mbps interface.
Here are the options for a 1000Mbps only interface
    Switch(config)#int gig 1/0/1
    Switch(config-if)#speed ?
    nonegotiate Do not negotiate speed
Here are the options for a 10/1000/1000Mbps interface
    Switch(config-if)#int gig 2/0/1
    Switch(config-if)#speed ?
    10 Force 10 Mbps operation
    100 Force 100 Mbps operation
    1000 Force 1000 Mbps operation
    auto Enable AUTO speed configuration
