3d graph fill to -infinity?

In a 2D graph, I am using the feature "fill to -infinity" on a plot to fill in the area under the line. Now, I want to have several plots and plot them in 3D, with the 3rd dimension being the plot number. I'm running into a problem though... I can't find an equivalent for "fill to -infinity" with the 3D Curve graph.
Any suggestions?

If this is the kind of graph you want to build, just add Z values lower than the lowest Z scale value to your data.

Could you explain what you are imagining this to look like? If the plot color was red and you could fill this to both -infinity and +infinity then the whole graph would be colored red...
If you meant for the colors to be different an easy work around is to the set either the -infinity or +infinity and then color the background of the graph to the other color:

Grapher 2.1: infinity is not infinity

Dear anyone who can help me with this?
When I enter a integral function:
y=integral_0^5 dx(e^{-x})
into Grapher, it plots a straight horizontal line close to y=1.
As the upper limit going down, the line honestly moves close to y=0.
However, if I enter the upper limit to infinity, something weird happens.
It becomes a line y=0.75
Anyone know what is going on here?

BTW, I also notice something wrong in this integral function:
On the above integration limit, one can type up to 23948.09556723854 and still get a proper line close to y=1. But, if you enter any number greater than 23948.09556723854, the function draw y=0 instead.

After some email conversation with Yves, he has got me answers that I am not fully satisfied but convinced. I have to thank Yves for the answer to this thread. Thanks to baltwo for redirecting me to Yves too.
The answer is basically on the algorithm Grapher uses for the integration. I one goes to the preferences, he/she will find the "Integration" section in the "Advanced" section where the settings do all the fine tuning. The default method for integration is Romberg and it is likely the best.
As it is numerical integration, error cannot be avoided when the condition goes to extremes.
That's it.

PDF Graph Fill Error

Hey All,
I am having an issue where PDF output on a bar chart report does not fill correctly on the first 15 or so pages. After that it draws the charts correctly. Here is what the first 15 look like, various colors are missing in the bars and in the key.

DVT graph not filling entire container width

Experts,
I have a DVT bar graph in my tabbed panel having "AFStretchWidth" set inside a panelHeader. But my graph is not stretching to fit the entire screen. I have also tried to set the "AFStretchWidth" in the graph but not productive.
eg: panelheader having
- panelTabbed styleclass set "AFStretchWidth" containing
- dvt styleclass set "AFStretchWidth"
Any ideas how to make the graph fill the entire container width ?

Make sure that Tab Panel (or parent of DVT Component) is stretched.
Set dynamicResize property value of DVT to DYNAMIC_SIZE.

"Fill base line"/"Fill to" problem within stack plots

Hi there,
I try to plot multi data sets within the stack plots waveform chart. But I can't control the Fill To option correctly for the plots other than the first plot in the window. As attached, even I set the fill baseline to zero for the second plot (the green one) in the first window, it performs like fill to -infinity. I am using Labview 2010 DS2.
Any solution? Or, I made any mistake here?

I agree things behave a bit weird if the number of traces is not a multiple of the number of stacked plots. Do you want three stacked plots or have two traces share one of the plots? Maybe you should use more defined data structures, e.g. an array where each element is a clusters of size=3.
Try the following:
resize the plot legend so 4 stacked plots show.
Now resize it again for two stacked plots.
In my case, the fill to zero is now correct.

hi all
I have an application that gives me a real time signal that should be displayed continuously . Well, when i connect the wire that is giving me a signal to a waveform graph, the signal keeps appearing properly until the graph fills and looks like your compressing a spring .
i have tried to turn the X autoscale ON and OFF and the same for Y but nothing revealed .
BUT when i use a waveform chart it works well and i can see a real time signal .
any help ?

Mac book starts to boot, then turns off

I have Mac Book Pro (13", Yr2011) which will not boot. It has a 1TB HD which has been partitioned for Mt Lion (primary) and Snow Leopard. The computer has worked fine in this configuration. For about 6 wks, the computer was not used and apparently the battery charge depleted to zero. When an attempt was made to use the computer with battery only, the screen was just light gray with a circular wait icon. After several minutes with no change, the battery was noted to be discharged. A charger was connected, but there was no change in the screen. The computer was then turned off and left to fully charge. On first attempt to turn on, the computer did come to life. However, when attempting to Update software, it displayed No Internect connection - even though it was connected by ethernet. The computer was power cycled, however the screen then again only showed light gray with wait icon. Now when attempting to boot, the screen shows light gray, circular wait icon & horizontal bar graph indicating something is loading. After about several minutes, the bar graph fills & disappears, however, the screen remains light gray with wait icon - indefinitely. On a few attempts, the computer and screen simply turned off after about 30secs.
If I hold the Option key while powering on, then the Mac does boot ok to Snow Leopard. Apparently, the Mt Lion side of the HD was corrupted during the low battery boot appempt. The last time I backup MtLion was several months ago, so if I prefer not to reformat and reload from scratch.
Since the Mac did boot up once, I'm wondering if there is a way to recover without having to reformat and start again.

Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
/sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).

How to create a blank theme with no embedded textures?

Hi,
I have created a custom theme based on the "White" theme thinking that it was truly blank. But when I save my new theme, I see that it weighs a hefty 11Mb.
After looking in the package contents, I see that there are marble textures remaining from the White theme. These are used on the default charts.
I tried creating new default charts that contain none of the textures but they are still saved with the template. I cannot delete these files directly in the package because I get a "Missing File" error when using the theme. Unchecking "Copy theme images into document" in the preferences doesn't change anything.
My question is: how do you create a truly empty theme with no textures nor images embedded in the package?

egoes, if you haven't already, you might consult the Keynote User Guide, page 181. The guide talks about how to create new themes, and how to define default chart styles for those themes. The instructions are unfortunately not terribly clear, but it appears that you have to create default charts for each chart type. (I would imagine that the new theme would use old defaults for any charts that aren't newly defined, which would leave in the textures you want to eliminate.)
If you have no luck following the User Guide directions, and size is important, you might instead start with a smaller theme as your base (e.g., Pinstripe is only 3.1MB, and the default graph fill is a colour fill, not a texture). From this you can strip out the background and other graphics you don't want. With just a blank Master with the background removed, this theme is only 612KB. This is likely the easiest way to produce what you want.

I think this is what you want... made this in a few secs.
Library... Generators... Timecode.
Set the text properties for the Timecode text. Use a mono space text, Courier. Turned off background color if you wish.
Clone the Timecode layer (turn off the original Timecode layer)
Properties... Timing... Reverse.
As for the bar graph... There probably a right way to do this and I probably didn't do it right. I just made a bar graph with an outline and fill, duped it. The top bar graph with outline no fill, bottom bar graph fill no outline. Keyed the bottom bar graph to travel from right to left. Cloned the bar graph layer and placed a mask (revered) to cover the red bar as it traveled to the right. You can add tick marks with text to the bar graph.

I have to override toString() to print out everything in my HashMap. It�s like I have a totally black out. Help me please.
This is what I have:
This Map is a graph filled with Cities and each City has an ListArray with Edges (containing info about transport way and weight of edge, in this case, time it takes to transport from one node to another).
This is how my Map looks like in a class called ListGraph<N>

Transparency fill in line graph data points does not copy over to Pages

I have created some line graphs in Numbers, and they look beautiful. Since some of my data overlap and I want users to be able to easily see where all data is on the graph, I have made the data points transparent on the foremost line. This allows the other line (which data points are filled in with another color) visible "through" the foremost line.
However, when I attempt to copy the graphs into Pages, the data points of the foremost line are no longer transparent - they are filled with white. Obviously, this defeats the entire purpose of using a transparency fill!
What can I do to make this work?

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, I need to embed several of these charts into the Pages document, and cannot use Numbers instead of Pages for the document.
Interestingly, if I copy the chart from Numbers and paste it into some graphics programs (like Pixen and Pixelator), the transparency is preserved. However, pasting the same copy into other graphics programs (such as Seashore or Photoshop) somehow flattens the image, removing the transparency, and I'm back to square one.
Using a graphics program as the bridge between Numbers and Pages reduces the quality of the chart - that's why I'd like to try to make this work in Numbers / Pages.

Iam using a table in numbers to plot daily graph lines. If I fill a cell with a text box at say zero it plots the graph. I can't actually set the cell value until the actual day but the graph plots it at zero when I don't want it to plot anything. Is tho

The answer is (sort of) in your subject, but edited out of the problem statement in the body of your message.
When you use a stepper or a slider, the value in the cell is always numeric, and is always placed on the chart if that cell is included in the range graphed by the chart.
But if you use a pop-up menu cell, you can specify numeric or text values in the list of choices for in the menu. Numeric values will be shown on the chart. Text values will not.
For the example, the values list for the pop-up menu was:

1

-1
-3
-5
The first pop-up was set to display Choose, then the cell was filled down the rest of the column. Any text value (including a single space, if you want the cell to appear blank) may be used instead of Choose.
For charts with negative Y values, the X axis will not automatically appear at Y=0. If your value set will include negative values, I would suggest setting the Y axis maximum and minimum to the maximum and minimum values on your menu list, rather than letting Numbers decide what range to include on the chart. Place a line shape across the chart at the zero level, and choose to NOT show the X axis.

Automatic Fill colors for Report Builder pie charts and graphs are too repetitive and hard to differentiate

I have pie charts or other graphs that show multiple results (7-20). I set the "fill" colors to Automatic so that the results are dynamic (I don't want to specify a color for each result because I will then be limited that those results--I
prefer it to be dynamic).
I noticed that once you get above 4 or 5 results, no matter which palette is used, the "automatic" colors are so closely similar that it is hard to differentiate which color pertains to which result (group). For example, you could have a
reports that breaks the results into age groups like 1-18, 19-21, 22-25, 26-30, 31-41, 41-50, 51-65, 66-80, and 81+. By the time you review the results, there's likely to be 3 pairs of colors (or more) that are so closely similar that you can't
tell them apart (2 shades of yellow, 3 shades of blue, 2 shades of orange, or green, or teal, or purple or whatever).
Is there a way to use Automatic for the color scheme (I don't care which color pertains to which category) but also specify to not use colors that seem to bleed together (so that someone viewing the report can actually tell the difference)? Using SSRS
2008 Report Builder, if it makes a difference.

Reporting Services provides a list of predefined, built-in palettes that you can use to define a color set for series on your chart. All built-in palettes contain between 10 and 16 color values. You cannot extend the built-in palette to include more colors,
so if you need more than 16 colors, you must define a custom palette.
A custom palette let you add your own colors in the order you want them to appear on the chart. A custom palette is especially helpful if the number of series in your chart is unknown at design time. For more information, see
