3D ribbon

Is it possible to have a motion path for ribbon drawn in 3D.
http://videohive.net/item/the-three-stripes/91238
I've tried to replicate this but I have trouble in the 90 degree bends. For example I can draw a ribbon and bend it on the X,Y axis but when I want to go along the Z axis it won't let me. When I go to move path whilst looking from the Top view the draw icon is crossed out. How can I achieve a this?

Shapes can only be drawn in 2D, but they can be manipulated in 3D. Here's what I'd do to create those lines.
Draw one line straight across. Adjust the width to taste. Make sure that the Start and End Caps are set to NONE. Go to the Geometry tab and view your control points. In the Properties tab, adjust your anchor point's X position by the exact number of the X position of one of your control points. To make this easier, I usually adjust the line to a near whole number.
When you've adjusted your anchor, duplicate the line. Go to the properties tab of the duplicate and adjust it's Y rotation to 90 degrees. Because the anchor is at the end of the line, the duplicate will rotate from that point making the 2 lines appear to be one bending line in 3D.
From there, just apply a write on behavior to each line where one behavior ends just as the next begins. You'll have to reverse the animation on one of the lines so that it continues to draw where the other leaves off. Then group those two lines, and dupe the group a couple of times placing them in a different position, and moving their start points a little further down the line to stagger the animation.

  • Office 2013 (Mainly Outlook) Ribbon Menu Display Error

    So i have created a MDT System Image for deploying Windows across our Business we are currently using Windows 8.1 32/64Bit Office 2013 SP1 now i have recently updated the image simply to install the latest load of Windows Updates so we are not installing
    a load of updates when imaging a machine. a lot of our users are reporting issues in Office mainly Outlook but Word has the issue also, the Ribbon bar has Pixelated Display issues and one would have to close he application and re-open to resolve.
    Now i have uploaded two screenshots to my box account and shared the images below as you can see from the screenshots it looks to be a display issue but it is only the Office Applications that fall victim, once you change to something else it dissapears
    but this is happening a few times a day now. i have blanked out with black boxes the secure information from our relevant party's they are separate to the issue.

    Hi,
    I would suggest you start Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
    Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
    If there is no such problem in safe mode, disable suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this problem.
    Since you have mentioned that you also meet this problem in Word, I doubt if it's related to a setting in Office:
    In any Office application, such as Outlook, go to File -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Find "Disable hardware graphics acceleration", have you checked this box? If no, check it and click "OK" to save the setting.
    This option is added since Office 2013, and it's global, once it's set in an Office application, it applies to others as well.
    More information about hardware acceleration can be found in this article below:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cc26ac52-5c94-468e-ac34-35c9dcc5b422/hardware-graphics-acceleration?forum=outlook
    We can also consider this:
    On the Desktop, right click on This PC(or Computer) icon, select
    Properties, then Advanced system settings on the left side, under
    Advanced tab, click on the Settings button for
    Performance.
    Now we see this:
    Uncheck the box for Animate controls and elements inside windows, click
    OK button.
    I hope the information can be helpful.
    Thanks,

  • Edit Page options in ribbon disabled after applying modified Seattle Master Page

    Hi,
    I'm working on a modified version of the Seattle.master page, and I have an odd permissions issue that is seen when my user (a farm admin) tries to edit a page on the site. On some pages, clicking Edit Page doesn't do anything at all. On others, I've been
    able to go into edit mode but not do anything with the Edit options afterward. In this scenario, most or all of the useful edit options are disabled, and I cannot use Save, Checkout, Discard the Checkout, Change the Page Layout, etc...
    Checking the JavaScript console in IE reveals this JS error that I don't see in the OOTB Seattle:
    SCRIPT5007: Unable to set value of the property 'href': object is null or undefined
    [our.site.com], line 1128 character 590
    Here's the function being referenced:
    function _cUpdconetidProjectPropertyTitleGraphic(data, ctrl){ ctrl.href = slNavUrl; }
    Other possibly helpful information:
    Here is a snippet from the modified Seattle Master Page of where the ribbon code sits:
    <div id="s4-workspace" class="ms-core-overlay">
    <div id="s4-bodyContainer">
    <SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl runat="server" AuthenticationRestrictions="AnonymousUsersOnly">
    <wssucw:Welcome runat="server" EnableViewState="false" />
    </SharePoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl>
    <div id="ms-designer-ribbon">
    <PublishingRibbon:PublishingRibbon runat="server"/>
    </div>
    As you can see, I have moved the Ribbon (div#ms-designer-ribbon) from its fixed position outside of the div#s4-workspace to inside of the div#s4-bodyContainer so that it scrolls with the page. Placing the ribbon inside div#s4-bodyContainer shouldn't be an issue,
    as I've made a Design Manager Master Page in the past and placed the ribbon there as well without issue.
    Does anyone know how I can get this modified Seattle master page to allow editing?

    Hi,
    Is there any custom JavaScript in it, sometimes error may occur due to some typo.
    Suppose that we can do the customization like this: With a copied master page, we can apply a part of the change first, then check it in the browser to make sure it can work without affecting the OOTB features. Then apply other parts one by one with immediate
    examinations...
    By doing this, it would be easier to find out which step in your whole customization would cause the issue.

  • Custom page layouts are not getting displayed in ribbon

    Hi,
    I have created a custom page layout under welcome category. This is getting displayed in pages library while creating a page and also in page layout option from site settings which is fine. But when a page is in edit mode if we click page->page layouts
    from ribbon, all the default page layouts are getting displayed except my custom page layout.
    Please advise.
    Regards,
    Chaitanya.

    you have a subsite in a site collection •the publishing feature is activated in the subsite, but not in the site collection •you want to edit/add page layouts on the site collection level, to be used within your subsite •when you open the site collection
    in SharePoint Designer, you can't see Page Layouts in the Site Objects panel You now have 2 options: you can either activate the publishing feature in the site collection (and the Page Layouts link comes back), or you can use the All Files link and browse
    to the master pages and page layouts library (_catalogs > masterpage.) Either option will do, unless you really don't want the publishing feature in the site collection.
    To fix the issue go to Site Actions -> Site Settings in the upper left corner.
    Under "Site Collection Administration" click on "Site Collection Features".
    Look for "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" and activate it. It might take a moment to load.
    Next return to "Site Settings" and click on "Manage Site Features"
    Look for "SharePoint Server Publishing" and activate it. It might take a moment to load.

  • How do I get rid of the 1/16" space between my igoogle homepage and firefox ribbon?

    I am currently running Firefox 4 and have igoogle set as my homepage. Both with the previous version of Firefox and with the new one I have about a 1/16 inch blue gap/space between the top of my igoogle homepage and the bottom of the Firefox ribbon/header. How do I get rid of this eyesore? It is only when I am on my igoogle homepage that this is a problem. All other pages are seamless.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Enable or disable button on a ribbon based on user permissions in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
    I have requirement to find a way to disable Inheritance, Add and Modify group from permission tab for users who are not added into specific group e.g. Administrators
    I have followed the following article to create a feature but have encountered few issues:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff408060.aspx
    Issues:
    I used the above code as a sample to create a feature and test if it would work. It worked fine but even though i have replaced Location="Ribbon.Library.Actions.ConnectToClient" with my permission locations,
    Connect to Outlook button still doesn't appear when the feature is activated. If i deactive this feature it shows
    Connect to Outlook button even though there is no reference for this in the code!
    I have modified the Elements.XML and have added the following code but it still disables the buttons for a user who has Site Collection Administrator permissions, i just want to disable this for users who are in particular group:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
    <CustomAction
    Id="RemoveRibbonButton"
    Location="CommandUI.Ribbon"
    RequireSiteAdministrator = "TRUE"
    >
    <CommandUIExtension>
    <CommandUIDefinitions>
    <CommandUIDefinition
    Location="Ribbon.Permission.Modify" />
    </CommandUIDefinitions>
    </CommandUIExtension>
    </CustomAction>
    <CustomAction
    Id="RemoveRibbonButton"
    Location="CommandUI.Ribbon"
    RequireSiteAdministrator = "TRUE"
    >
    <CommandUIExtension>
    <CommandUIDefinitions>
    <CommandUIDefinition
    Location="Ribbon.Permission.Add" />
    </CommandUIDefinitions>
    </CommandUIExtension>
    </CustomAction>
    </Elements>
    I have also have another issue when this feature is activated even though i haven't removed 'Check' and 'Manage' Ribbon locations, they are also greyed out as shown it the screenshot below:
    I have also created a user control using the following method:
    http://sharepointroot.com/2010/06/18/remove-actions-from-the-ribbon-sharepoint-2010/
    But again i need to restrict it specific user group.
    Any advice how to do this? or which way is better creating a feature or creating a user control? even though i liked the creating the feature as it gives your more control.
    Regards,
    Kashif

    Thanks for your reply Paul.
    I do understand that this is a partial solution and wouldn't stop them completely from doing these actions using different UI but atleast it would remove these options from the ribbon which is causing us some major issues when clicked by mistake especially
    'inherit permissions'.
    We do have governance policies in place and a certain user group can add and remove users from SP site. But the issue we have currently is that when one of these (authorised) users uses 'inherit permissions from parent' site. This removes the unique
    permissions from the subsite and delete all SP groups / permission level in the subsite. In some cases subsite contains confidential information which is then exposed to all the users who have access to the parent site.
    The main button which i'm interested to disable is 'Inherit Permissions' which i believe can't be used from anyother UI apart from the ribbon.
    I just need to know if it's possible to restrict this for some users or group? even if it just removes it from the ribbon only i would be still interested to explore this implementation.
    Any help would be apperciated.
    Regards,
    Kashif

  • Why ribbon XML does not work in Excel 2007?

    I installed 4 VSTO Excel add-ins on an Excel 2007 PC today. The two that use a visual designer ribbon worked fine. But the 2 that use a Ribbon (XML) did not. The add-in starts ok. But the ribbon does not show. Why would that be?
    I wrote two more add-ins to demonstrate the problem. One puts an OK button on the ribbon using the visual designer. That add-in installs on the excel  2007 PC and works as it should. But the 2nd, an add-in that uses Ribbon (XML) to put a button on the

  • Visual Studio Community Edition - Error on creating ribbon for Excel Workbook project

    Hi. I've been struggling with this for a couple of days now so I hope someone can help me.
    I have installed Visual Studio 2013 Community Edition. On installation there was no option to include VSTO and, looking on various forums, I found it was necessary to install the VSTO - November 2014 update separately, which I have done. I'm working on a
    brand new virtual server (Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1) and no other versions of Visual Studio have been installed (although I'm surprised to see Visual Studio 2012 as an item in All Programs - but it just contains command prompts).
    I have created an Excel Workbook project. When I go to create a new item - Ribbon (Designer) - I get the error:
    Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Tools.Common.Implementation, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    I've searched the Internet for anyone who might have had this same issue but have been unable to find anything to help me. I've tried uninstalling the VSTO-November Update and VS 2013 CE and reinstalling both but still the same problem.
    Any help would be much appreciated!
    David.

    Hello David,
    What Office version do you have installed on the problematic machine?
    Do you run Visual Studio as an administrator?

  • Why "New Item" in ribbon and "Add new item" in xsllistview link to different form

    Hi all,
    I have a question. I have a list with two new forms, one is created in SPD the other one is created in InfoPath (both forms are created by developer).
    I don't know why the new form link to different page when I click "New Item" in ribbon and "Add new item" in list view.
    1. Will open new form that created in InfoPath when click on "New Item" in ribbon.
    2. Will open new form that created in SPD when click on "Add new item" in list view.

    One way to do this would be to hold the urls for the pages you need to display in a table. You could then build the links as one of the columns of a report using some fancy SQL.<br>
    <br>
    Or you could make a simple function to return the correct link based on the relevant parameters:<br>
    <br>
    create or replace function get_url (p_criteria in varchar2) return varchar2<br>
    is<br>
    lv_url varchar2(500);<br>
    begin<br>
    if p_criteria = 'Personal' then<br>
    lv_url := 'http://host:port/pls/portal/etc...';<br>
    end if;<br>
    etc...<br>
    return '&LT;a href="' || lv_url || '"&GT;' || p_criteria || '&LT;/a&GT;';<br>

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to override the “E-mail a Link” button on the Ribbon.
    I had created a simple demo to override the “E-mail a Link” button on the Ribbon, you can have a look at it.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
    <CustomAction Id="Ribbon.Library.Actions.OverrideEmailLinkButton" Location="CommandUI.Ribbon" RegistrationId="101" RegistrationType="List" Title="Display the UniqueId for the list item.">
    <CommandUIExtension>
    <CommandUIDefinitions>
    <CommandUIDefinition Location="Ribbon.Library.Share.EmailLibraryLink">
    <Button Id="Ribbon.Library.Share.EmailLibraryLink.ReplacementButton" Command="ReplacementButtonCommand" Image16by16="http://s10.postimage.org/lhar0oijp/U16.png" Image32by32="http://s17.postimage.org/trf3y2ui3/U32.png" LabelText="Replaced Button" TemplateAlias="o2" />
    </CommandUIDefinition>
    </CommandUIDefinitions>
    <CommandUIHandlers>
    <CommandUIHandler Command="ReplacementButtonCommand" CommandAction="javascript:alert('This button has been replaced.');" />
    </CommandUIHandlers>
    </CommandUIExtension>
    </CustomAction>
    </Elements>

  • Frozen out menu ribbon in Word 2013 and cannot preview word documents in Outlook 2013

    I seem to be having a recurring problem with Word 2013 from Office Home Edition single user. When I try to put a caption on a table, the entire document page layout changes from portrait to something close to landscape and then the entire menu ribbon freezes
    out. I usually have to save the file, close and reopen using the open and repair feature as the document only opens in read only after this incidence happens. Since the first time I experienced this in early July, I haven't been able to preview Word files
    in office outlook 2013 and the protected mode feature hasn't worked since then either.
    Can I get some help with this please? I reinstalled, did online fixing and tried a few other fixes to no avail. Could it have started as a result of my installing a trial version of Office Visio which comes as a totally different package from my Home edition?
    Thank you

    Is this the only action that will result in the issue? Does this happen to any Word documents?
    The first thing that I'd suggest you to do is to install any available updates to your system and Office installation, and then verify result.
    Then, please check if you have any add-ins integrated with your Word 2013 (please note that some programs might install add-ins automatically), try in safe mode and see if issue was caused by some add-in conflicts:

    A Windows clean boot is also worth trying, it will help to determine whether background programs are interfering with your program:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us

    It's recommended to download and install

  • Ribbon behavior using Outlook 2013 vs IE

    We are running CRM 2011 on-premise and using the 2011 CRM for Outlook client RU 18.
    Most users are still running Office 2007 and the issue below does not occur as far as I know.  However some users are now running office 365 and issue below occurs. It does not occur when using IE (users are on IE 11)
    Issue : When attempting to create a new record on a custom entity using outlook client via outlook 2013 an error occurs.
    The error received is from a web-api call that is custom built.  These web-api calls get fired when opening an existing record to determine user roles etc.  The buttons that fire these rules are not displayed unless the formstate = existing (among
    other rules). We did not have a similar rule on the ribbon button enable rule to check of formstate= existing.
    In IE this works fine. However using the new button in OUtlook it appears the enable rule still fires. In some cases these custom web-api calls are supposed to pass an entity guid, which in this case there is none yet.
    We have modified the enable rules on several buttons to specifically account for the formstate rule and this seems to help.
    Has anyone heard of anything similar. Again as far as I know this started to happen when Office 365 /outlook 2013 was installed.
