3d texture animate

Hi,
I'm using the new 3d picture control in  Labview 8.2. I'm using it to create a program/game that can move 2D sprites about the screen whilst getting the benefits of the open-gl accelerated render window. Applying png textures to quads works really well and gives good performance.
I wonder if there is a way to dynamically change the texture assigned to a particular object so that it appears animated? E.g. swap from texture_A.png to texture_B.png etc as the object moves about? So far I haven't been successful  - I get 'invalid object' errors. My other idea is to create a stack of quads, and move the correct frame to the top of the pile as necessary. Any ideas on the CPU overhead  this would incur?
More far fetched, but on a similar theme, could full motion video be sent to the external render window?
Thanks for any help/ideas!
Pete

Thanks to both the above posts, much appreciated and useful.
I've managed to get textures updating as shown in the example vi - seems like there isn't a particularly big overhead to doing this either.
Also, I liked the sound of the webcam to a quad, seemed like a good timewaste/test! Attached is a hacky version I've put together
I had to do a bit of searching to work out how to convert from an imaq complex image into a pixmap to use as a texture - the current way doesn't seem particularly optimal but works for both webcam and video. Might be useful for someone..
Cheers,
Pete

    what do you mean by a video texture? You can add videos for background for example.

  • Help needed with Illustrator texture swatches imported into Flash

    Hey, so I  basically scanned a texture into illustrator and added it into the swatches. After drawing a character in illustrator I used the colour of the swatch I had added to colour in my character and by using the tilde button I could move the texture to see which speicifc part of the texture I wanted for certain parts.
    Once I completed my character I imported him into Flash. Here is where the problem lies in, when I attempt to use the bone tool to animate him, as soon as I move a certain limb, the specific texture I had applied for that certain area causes the texture to move and make the area that I had coloured in using the swatches look different to what I initially imported into Flash.
    This has been a huge problem I have been facing and haven't been able to find an answer anywhere, I would really appreciate if I could get some help with this. Thank you very much!
    P.S.  If i explained my situation poorly, just ask for an image and I will gladly post a few so everything's clearer and makes more sense.

  • Importing a PS Texture and Applying to Video in AE

    Hi all,
    I'm working on a commercial and have developed a nice look, feel working with my graphic designer.  Rather than having to mask and animate this mask to reveal a select piece of a video clip and have texture surrounding, is there anyway to bring link the PS texture layer including the non-textured opening to a video layer such that the colors of the video layer become textured?
    I realize you can use the 'Texturize' effect to apply the texture to the video, but this requires more effort in terms of masking and tracking.  That is certainly do-able and is the method I have started using.  Of course I would prefer a work around that is less time consuming, so here I am posing this question.  I have also attempted apply the texture to a transparent solid wiht no luck.
    Please let me know if this requries more explanation etc. I am working with CS5 on a PC.
    Thank you for any feedback,
    Lindsay

    Hi Andrew,
    My apologies for not posting these in the first place.  The idea is the rifle sight will fly in to a specific focus on the underlying video with varying movements and focuses throughout the video as the subject changes.  Ideally I would like to have the texture and rifle scope linked so that as the rifle sight moves in and out the texture adjusts accordingly.
    This example below, is the texture applied to a duplicated video layer with an inverted circular mask.
    This is what I came up with playing with the texture on a semi-transparent solid layer.
    This is what hte merged PS document looks like just right on top of the video.  No blending modes applied yet.  Though I will start playing with that.
    Last, the original PS document.
    Thanks for your time Andrew.  I appreciate any feedback or insight you might provide.  Thanks!

  • Graphic animation and texture technique

    Hello Adobe,
    I'm wanting mock this graphic within after effects and wondering how I can get this same animation and texture effect from solids or shape layers? Watch video below (5s).
    WIN Television - PRG [2014] - YouTube
    Thank you.

    If you mean the graphic then layer your shapes with gradients for fills then add the other elements. Basic illustrating skills are all that is required. Then you just animate the shapes one layer at a time until you get the look you want.
    These are the most basic skills. There's nothing automatic that you can just push a button or click the checkbox to duplicate this animated graphic.

  • How to animate a serif?

    In CS3 I want to animate the serif of a font to reveal the word, I converted the text into a shape layer and tried to use the Trim Paths effect to reveal the word but as the seirf font is very circular it doesn't quite work.
    Could anyone offer advice on how best to animate this text on following the circular paths of the serif.
    I have uploaded my project to my site www.personalmovies.co.uk/serif.zip
    Thx
    Kevin

    Steve:
    What you're experiencing is a byproduct of the power of shape layers
    It's important to understand that the nature of shape effects (just like Illustrator) is that they don't work on textures (ie, the appearance attributes like stroke) but on the "model" (the paths themselves). So, when you apply Trim Paths on a shape that has a fill attribute, you're going to see how fill is  dynamically re-applied as the paths are trimmed. Probably not what you want. If you want to animate stroke (or animate things so that it looks like you're animating stroke), you could duplicate the group, turn off fill, make sure stroke is on, and apply Trim Paths on that duplicate group.
    This way of operating is what allows you to have (among a million other things) dynamic stroke cap/join/dash styles as you trim the path, which would be impossible otherwise.
    Also, regarding a previous post, Trim paths can work on paths sequentially or simultaneouly. Your choice.
    Let me know if this helps, or if it still confusing.

  • Director help-video as a texture

    Could someone help please, I am trying to play a video clip
    or an animated texture on one model(there are about 10 short video
    clips). So far i have imported a w3d model into director and i have
    added an animate texture behaviour from the chrome Lib set of
    behaviours. My question is how do i change the shader names on my
    models various sides so as i can have more than one animated
    texture? I think i need to assighn dirfferent shader and texture
    numbers( the default is 1) but as my lingo skills are very weak i
    do not know how to do this.If anyone could help with this problem
    or point me in the right direction i would be grateful

    Adding Texture will result in essentially using a still image to create "Texture."
    What you want instead is PiP, where your secondary Video appears essentiall below your Lower Third, but above your main Video.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    PS there are several ways to do the custom PiP. I would look to Track Matte Keying myself, but others will probalby have different techniques. Some might suit your workflow better.

  • Importing 3D objects to animate within live action

    Regarding motion tracking, I'd like to import a 3D model of a robot and interact it with live action characters in a scene. Nothing too complicated - it hovers around but, it needs to be in 3D space for realism. What I've read of tracking, I can put an object in a scene and lock it down through camera movement and such. I would imagine the rotobrush tool will come in handy for this process. I just haven't wrapped my brain around how to animate this robot in a scene where the camera may be moving. Any suggestions?

    3d tracking a scene is never "nothing too complicated".
    The most important step is having a good script.
    Other steps following that will include planning, storyboarding, shooting the scene (with enough tracking markers - or trackable elements - in the right places in the shot), shooting a clean plate (also, take the chance to grab some ambient room noise for your audio editing later), and shooting an HDRI - note: this is not an all-inclusive list.
    That was all just pre-production and production.
    Steps in post would include tracking the shot, modeling the 3d elements, texturing the 3d elements, lighting the 3d elements, animating the 3d elements, rendering the 3d elements and their various passes (object buffers, ambient occlusion, shadows, lights, motion vectors, depth pass, etc.), compositing your 3d elements into the scene (which will involve color correction and may or may not involve keying, rotoscoping, and other techniques - you'll figure this out during the planning stages), rendering out your composite in a proper intermediate codec, bringing your final shot into your editing program, adding sound design, color grading, and producing a finished file in the correct delivery codec. Again, there is more to it than this, but these are some of the basic steps.

  • How do I use Edge Animate to make a clickable image which can be used in Author, and which will redirect you to a different page in your ebook?

    If anyone has experience with Edge Animate, I know that I can make an image clickable, and I can insert a url to define where it will go once clicked. But I want to make a widget to use in iBooks Author, that can take the reader to a certain page of the book. Is this possible?
    It all seems very complicated. Make one thing in Edge Animate, then somehow have that reference something in Author, which will finally work in an ebook. I have no clue where to begin.

    Sort of. I'm using this code inside an action for a button symbol. But it doesn't work perfectly. Trying to debug it.
    Let me know if you have any luck.
    //Check to see if pageCounter already exists
    if (typeof EC.pageCounter === 'undefined') {
      // it doesn't exist so initialize it to first page
        EC.pageCounter = 2;
    //check if the page is only 1 digit -- patch for single digit
    if (EC.pageCounter < 9) {
       // it is, so we need to pad a 0 on the front.
      EC.pageCounterString = "0" + EC.pageCounter;
      //e.g.  01 ...09,11,12,13....115,222352,,....
    else {
      EC.pageCounterString = EC.pageCounter;
    EC.loadComposition(EC.pageCounterString + "/publish/web/" + EC.pageCounterString + ".html", sym.$("container"));
    EC.pageCounter = EC.pageCounter + 1;
    //TODO for back  -1

  • How do I include 'Edge Web Fonts' into Edge Animate?

    How do I include 'Edge Web Fonts' (not Google Web Fonts) into Edge Animate?

    Have you tried to use google fonts? I have used them and they work for me.
    When you add your font for example:
    Copy paste:
    <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Finger+Paint' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
    and then for font family.
    'Finger Paint', cursive;
    then select addfont on the addfont screen

  • Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1

    Hello, do the animation in Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1

  • Why is the "Free texture" not available to Photoshop Photography Plan subscribers?

    I have subscribed to the Adobe CC Photography Plan since August 2013.  Today I received an email from Adobe with the subject line "New Benefits Added to your Creative Cloud Photography Plan."  The email linked to a web page.  On that page, I clicked the link "Enter the Magical World of Trey Ratcliff."  On that page, there was a link "Free Adobe Photoshop CC texture" (http://inspire.adobe.com/2014/11/7/free_adobe_photoshop_cc_texture.html).  I decided to try the texture - Metal Texture 08 by Niklas K. Andersen.
    Using the Creative Cloud Desktop app on Windows, I found my way to the Market.  For you information, this was my first time using the Market feature.  When I attempted to add it to "My Library," I got the message
    "Market Assets are a Premium feature only available to 'CC Complete' and 'Single App' members"
    Two questions:
    as a subscriber to the CC Photography Plan, am I not a 'Single App' member?
    If the answer to (1) is no, then why doesn't Adobe make it clear that the "Free Texture" is only for premium subscribers?

    Thanks for you answers (and for the link).

  • How to make something like this in Edge Animate?

    Hi,
    I'm hoping to make something like this – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJeDppEHI1g – in Edge Animate but I'm not sure where to start.
    I'm new to Edge but am keen to explore.
    Anyone have any feedback on whether:
    1. It's possible, and
    2. What techniques/effects have been used.
    Thanks!

    Hi there and welcome,
      Could you be a little more specific on what it is exactly that you would want to create? Most of what I can see from that website is doable in Edge Animate, but if you specify what it is you'd like to accomplish I could walk you through how to do it.
    Thanks!

  • Sticky header and footer in Edge Animate

    I've created a long scrolling site in EA and need my navigation bar and logo to remain static at the top as I scroll down. I also want my Contacts bar at the bottom to stay put. Can anyone help me?
    I'm not familiar with JS, CSS or HTML5 so please imagine you're talking to a child. I also need to know where to add the code in the Edge Animate project.
    Thanks for your patience...

    These fragments might fall under the category of "other", as an example, there is a copyright fragment in the Other tab of the fragment toolbox window. You could copy that and enhance it to make your footer.

  • Adding to a website animation made in edge animate

    Hello, I am web designer, I made several banners for our webpage in edge animate, and now our programmists are having trouble adding them to a website. May be someone can tell, what they did wrong? Or may be you may give as lint to a tutorial explaining, how to add it in the right way?
    link to a website: https://imfoption.com/a/new-home-page/
    link to a banner: http://giteldesign.com/portfolio/works/banners/imfoption/man-moving/

    This may be because of the site being served on https and some of the edge animate scripts being served over http, which are blocked by the browser. You can change the URL scheme from http to https in the file /wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/man_edgeActions.js to make it work.
    Following URLs will need a change:
      aLoader = [
          { load: "http://imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/edge_includes/jquery-2.0.3.min. js"},
          { load: "http://imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/edge_includes/edge.4.0.0.min.js"},
          { load: "http://imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/man_edge.js"},
          { load: "http://imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/man_edgeActions.js"}];
    You can also just use the URLs without a scheme as follows, then the scheme will be automatically chosen.
    aLoader = [
          { load: "//imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/edge_includes/jquery-2.0.3.min.js" },
          { load: "//imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/edge_includes/edge.4.0.0.min.js"},
          { load: "//imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/man_edge.js"},
          { load: "//imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/js/newban/man_edgeActions.js"}];
    There are some other resources which are loaded over http, for eg:
    http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Economica%3A700%2C400italic&ver=1.7.4
    http://imfoption.com/wp-content/themes/imfoption/css/impreza/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.svg ?v=4.0.3
    These may or may not work depending on the client settings, ideally you should fix all of these issues too. Hope this helps.
