401 not auth from generated oracle client stub to MS web service

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I've scoured the web and otn and have not had any real luck yet. I took a wsdl from a Microsoft webservice and generated the web service proxy in jdev-10.1.3.3. I added a few lines to set the endpoint, username, and password. I compiled to a jar and was able to successfully contact the MS ws from the command-line using both 1) java 1.5 on my desktop with the jdeveloper jars in the classpath, and 2) java 1.5 on our 10.1.3.3 development appserver. However, when I take that exact client code and deploy it to the same 10.1.3.3 appserver, I get back a 401 unauthorized.
Packet traces show that in all (3) cases, the client is calling the ws using NTLM authentication (I would have expected HTTP Basic Authentication) I'm at a loss to understand why this doesn't work. I even started looking into seeing if I could force the code to use Basic Auth, but there did not seem to be any ability in the generated client stub to do so. There was a server-side certificate that I needed to import, but that seemed fine in the (2) command-line interface cases above after I used keytool to import the cert into the cacerts keystore of both my local desktop's and the OAS appservers's cacerts.
I generated the webservice client using both the WSDL-->right-click-->Generate Web Service Proxy in jdev, and via command line using wsa.jar -genProxy, but I get the same generated code and the same result.
Questions: 1) Is there a way to force Basic Auth from an Oracle generated client?
2) Does anyone have a step-by-step for generating a Basic-Auth client for a Microsoft webservice?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

I did a packet trace of the good case (command-line on the 10.1.3.3 appsvr) vs. the bad case (deployed in the 10.1.3.3 appsvr), and it looks like there are (3) lines of base64 characters for the 'Authorization: NTLM xxxxxx' header in the good case, and only (2) lines of base64 characters for the same header option in the bad case. Also, the good case has an 'NTLM Response' field of 24 hex characters and the bad case has an empty 'NTLM Response' field. This really smells like a bug, but I'm not 100% sure. Does anyone have a way to tell?
Has anybody been able to generate a web service client in Oracle that talks to a Microsoft webservice using Basic Authentication?

Since then we discovered the following:
When I change the following line in the WSDL it works:
    From:
    xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap12/"
    To:
    xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/soap/"
It looks like wscompile (v1.1.3) works with Soap 1.1 WSDL only.
When using wsimport instead all seems to work fine provided we change from rpc/encoded to document/literal.
    I guess that's the way to go...for Soap 1.2

  • Provider not compatible version of Oracle client after upgrade 4.112.1.2

    I had an ASP.NET 3.5 website running
on intranet small business server as production with:
    OS Win2008 Standard 32-bit
    Oracle Database 11g107 32-bit
    Oracle DataAccess 2.111.60 32-bit
    On a development laptop,
    I upgraded the website to ASP.NET 4.0.
    The development laptop had
    OS Windows 7 32-bit
    VS 2010
    Oracle Database 11g201 32-bit
    Oracle DataAccess 4.112.12
    Application was running without errors.
    On the production server,
    I uninstalled Oracle Database 11g107,
to include removing Oracle home and install folders,
and in HKLM > Software > Oracle registry folder.
    I installed Oracle Database 11g201
and installed the ODP.NET upgrade to 4.112.12.
    (except for VS components).
    In the website web.config,
I changed the referenced assembly to:
    <assemblies>
         <add assembly="Oracle.DataAccess, Version=4.112.1.2, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" />
I changed IIS70 Application pool advanced settings to ASP.NET 4.0,
    restarting application pool and website.
    Rebooted system.
On starting the application when it accesses the Oracle connection,
I get the dreaded: Provider not compatible.
Exception Details: Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client
Source Error: An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

It is not the VB.NET Oracle connection code,
as it runs fine on the development laptop.
So I look into the GAC.
GACUTIL /l shows 2.111.60 is still in the .NET

Is there a command I need to run to remove the old 111.6.0 Oracle client references from GAC?
Eventhough Oracle ODP.NET installer put a policy to refer the older version to the new?

    There is:
    Oracle.DataAccess 2.112.1.2
    Oracle.Database.Extensions 2.112.1.2

    In

    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\Oracle.Web\v4.0_4.112.1.2__89b483f429c47342
with the appropriate 4.112.1.2 dlls in these folders
This is the GAC for ASP.NET 4.0,
so this appears to be correct.

Removed Oracle Providers references, I just need ODAC to update and insert data into schema data tables,
and do not use the ASP.NET Oracle Providers schema.
Should I need ASP.NET Oracle Providers schema, I can always add references in the application web.config.

The application works fine on production server when I use SYSTEM.DATA.ORACLECLIENT.

  • Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation in ColdFusion

I was able to call the services on the development box - windows server without any problem at all, everything was working fine but the moment i uploaded to a linux box production server I get this error. "Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation in ColdFusion"
What could be the cause of this problem, i have googled a lot but no solution yet any ideas.

    Let me make it simple:
    1. Server A is our development server.- hosted inhouse with coldfusion installed.
    2. Server B is our production server - a linux server with coldfusion installed hosted on the internet
    3. Server C is a third party server containing the webservice - this is a windows server with .net
coldfusion is installed on Server A, the code works here and can connect to server C without any problem. It gets the required respone
but when the code was uploaded to server c it gives the error when we run it.
now i tried just a simple code which works fine on server A below:
    <cfinvoke webservice="http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?WSDL" method="ConversionRate" returnvariable="ConversionRateResult">
        <cfinvokeargument name="FromCurrency" value="EUR" />
        <cfinvokeargument name="ToCurrency" value="USD" />
    </cfinvoke>
    <cfdump var="#ConversionRateResult#" />
But when i uploaded it to server C: it returns the error
Cannot generate stub objects for web service invocation.
Name: http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?WSDL. WSDL: http://www.webservicex.net/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?WSDL. java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/coldfusion8/stubs/WS728929035/NET/webserviceX/www/Currency.java (No such file or directory) It is recommended that you use a web browser to retrieve and examine the requested WSDL document to ensure it is correct. If the requested WSDL document cannot be retrieved or is dynamically generated, it is likely that the target web service has programming errors.
The error occurred in /home/works/public_html/currency.cfm: line 7
    5 :     <cfinvokeargument name="FromCurrency" value="EUR" />
    6 :
    7 :     <cfinvokeargument name="ToCurrency" value="USD" />
    8 :
    9 : </cfinvoke>
Now if you try the preceeding code on a windows environment  it works fine but the moment you put in the in the linux environment it generates this error
I feel that the error may actually be :
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /opt/coldfusion8/stubs/WS728929035/NET/webserviceX/www/Currency.java (No such file or directory)
but i am clueless as to what to do next
Ok so I tried the wget command on the linux
    this is what i got

  • Web Service Proxy client to invoke a Web service on SSL (Jdev 10.1.3.1)

    Hi,
I have to develope a Web Service proxy client to invoke a web service on SSL. First I'm testing with OC4J 10.1.3.1 and JDEV 10.1.3.1 and did this:
    1) Developed a basic PL/SQL Web Service with JDEV and publish on my standalone OC4J.
    2) Made a test with a browser, it worked OK
    3) Generated a proxy client from JDev 10.1.3.1 to invoke web service, it worked OK
--- Now make it work on SSL----
    4) Then, added SSL configuration to oc4j , generated a certificate with keytool (updated server.xml, secure-web-site.xml), and shutting down and starting the OC4j instance.
    5) Import the certificate to JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security/cacerts
    6) Test web service from browser on https and worked OK.
    7) When tried to modified proxy client (generated in step 3) to make it work on SSL, I realized that just changing the END_POINT to the new url (https) it worked!
    Questions----
1.- By default the proxy client generated from JDEV 10.1.3.1 knows how to deal with SSL conections?
2.- If I dont have previously the server certificate to import it into JAVA keystore (cacerts) how could I ,from proxy client code, capture it and import it before the validation occurs... because if the certificate is not in keystore , the program fails.
    Thanks in advance
    J.

    Hi,
Could you please provide me with the steps necessary to create a web service proxy client through JDeveloper or any other mechanism when 2 way SSL (requiring client authentication) is enabled.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi
    Please refer to this thread

  • The Managed Metadata Service or Connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or Managed Metadata Web Service may not have been started. Please Contact your Administrator.

    Hi,
I'm not able to access the term store. I get an below mentioned error.
"The Managed Metadata Service or Connection is currently not available. The Application Pool or Managed Metadata Web Service may not have been started. Please Contact your Administrator. "
Since this is happening on my local machine (Dev environment). I have full control on the term store and the all the site collections.
Hence, this is not a permission issue.
I have checked, the Metadata service is active on the machine. All the application pools in IIS is running.
After reading one of the recommendation on internet, I created a new Managed Metadata Service.
After which I was able access both (old and new) MMS from Central Admin only (highlight the MMS from manage service applications and click Manage ) and not from the site collection (term store management).
Now again its not working after I did an IISRESET.
The managed metadata service (Managed Metadata Service Connection) is grayed out.
    ULS Error says:

    Hi Victoria,
    Thanks for your reply
I tried making all the changes you had recommended and which are mentioned in the link you have provided.
I tried making all possible combination of changes to the web.config and client.config files but it does not make any difference to the environment.
One thing is that, my error in ULS logs has changed.

Does anyone know how can I overcome this problem because I didn't find any help for that in the demo files. I can see in the oracle application server that the Web Service was deployed successfully, but maybe there is some configuration issue that blocks it? maybe it's my Windows XP that's blocking it?
    Thanks,
    Ophir

    Ophir,
I ran into this while testing, are you sure your started the oc4j and it is still running .. I remember some persistence issue, with the IP addr, hostname .. so I needed to clear the persistence directory in j2ee/home to have the container starting up.

  • Programming the Oracle Database with Java and Web Services: sample chapter

This will be the first book devoted to Java in the Oracle Database: read the sample chapter @ http://www.oracle.com/technology/books/pdfs/mensah_ch1.pdf
This book also covers the latest Oracle JDBC, Oracle SQLJ, JPublisher and Database Web Services A brief description @
    http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/bookdescription.cws_home/706089/description#description
    Thanks, Kuassi

    Hi Kuassi,
Thanks for letting us know that your book is available. I have been following one of your articles about "Virtualize Your Oracle Database with Web Services". More specifically "The Database as Web Services Consumer". I think that this is an area that has in the past been under estimated as to the potential benefits.
I am currently trying to develop a solution that consumes several interfaces with a couple of them being published web services, so an ideal solution. I have then spent the last three weeks having to read up about the architecture of Java in the database, Jpublisher and make sense of how it all works together.
I have got very close to getting one of the web services to work but failed due to using 10gR2 where all the java & libraries has moved to version 1.5. The solution is to load the jdk1.4.2 and configure jpublisher to use this. So far so good except this is not available on some platforms, Windows - 64 bit (not itanium).
The configuration is proving very challenging but will hopefully reap rewards.
(Thought I would give you some background to my experience).
Anyway my question to you is having looked at Jdeveloper it appears to do almost anything except consume services into the database, also with Java now being at version 1.5 outside the database for 10gR2 and supporting 1.4 inside, do you see some alignment of these in future database releases?
Finally off to buy your book now as no doubt there is a huge amount more to learn.
    Kind Regards

  • Thin-client uses a RESTful Web Service

    Hello everyone!
Once I've develop a few web services, it's time to "consume" them. I'm trying to develop a thin-client in JAVA (with the netbeans ide) but I haven't found the best way to do it.
So, which is the best way to create a LabVIEW RESTful webservice?
Obviously, JAVA is an option, how about create a client with another VI?
    Greetings!
    Francisco José Gómez López
    Software Engineer

    1) Are you trying to create a RESTful web service in LabVIEW?
    or
    2) Are you wondering about creating a thin client to consume the web service?
    A1) Web Services in LabVIEW
A2) LabVIEW WebUI Builder  You can create a VI to act as a client for your web services, but not a thin client (i.e. running in the browser)

  • Can we stop the server from generating a client jar

When an EAR module is deployed, the server generates a large (a few MB) client jar inside the deployment directory. AFAIK this jar is never used for anything unless you have ACC clients. Please correct me if I'm wrong!
Recently, we've had some worrying exceptions logged, indicating that there is a problem reading this client jar, and the context indicates that the server is attempting to set up a class loader for it. Everything works fine anyway.
We have a few hundred EAR's deployed in each of our servers, and the EAR's contain on avarage about 30-40 entity beans, so you can imagine that we worry about every unnecessary resource allocation.
Also, every exception logged requires attention from the admins so we would really like to get rid of these jars if we can, and if they are in fact unnecessary.
    TIA,
    Gunnar Grim

    Hello, Gunnar.
You are correct that the generated jar is for launching clients using ACC. (Historically some users have taken the generated app client jar and added it to the classpath for non-ACC clients, but this is not an officially supported use of it.)
You said that recently exceptions have been reported, which I assume means that this was not always true. It would seem that something in the environment or the applications has changed to trigger the exceptions. Identifying whatever that change has been might help identify the root cause of the new problem. Have you changed anything in the environment or the applications around the time the exceptions began appearing?
Can you post an example of one of the exceptions you are concerned about?
Also, what version of the product are you using?

    Perhaps.....
    select * from aTable where TRUNC(adate) = to_date(:search_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy')
    Hi,
not having any sample data from you I could not understand that you wanted to select the range 00:00:00 - 23:59:59 on search_date.
Your method might not be efficient if you have an index on adate.
Maybe something like this will be more efficient
    select * from aTable
    where adate >= to_date(:search_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy')
      and adate <  to_date(:search_date, 'dd.mm.yyyy') + 1;
If you search_date is 30-Aug-2013 it will get records where adate >= 30-Aug-2013 00:00:00 and adate < 31-Aug-2013 00:00:00, so any time of date 30-Aug-2013.
Try like this and let us know if you still have 2 different results.

  • How to identify the media type 32 or 64 bit from installed oracle client

tilll the previous release there was many hints like.. lib and lib32 in various locations. but not in 11g r2 i guess.

    hi karthick,
thanks for replying. first of all i would like to say that I was not able to find the path which you have mentioned below.
    but i understood your intentions.
so directly looked for a executable file of sqlplus underr oraclehome/bin. and i got few error messages, saying sqlplus could not be loaded. this could be because my 10g is currently configured. and not 11g as we dont want to disturb the environment without confirmation. You said this was AIX. So when you log on to the server, your "environment" only exists for that session you have created to log on. Set ORACLE_HOME to point to your 11.2 installation, and set PATH to point to $ORACLE_HOME/bin. Those settings are only good for that session, so will not impact anything else.
If sqlplus reports 64 bit, well, that's obviously 64 bit. If it's 32-bit, it won't say anything about it, so "not 64 bit" must be 32-bit.

however, i tried to execute the same file for 10 g to check if 10g gives any info, but only got the version not 32 or 64 bit.

  • Dial-In Conferencing page does not open from Lync 2013 client

    Hello Everyone,
I am facing this strange issue with my Lync Clients. All the users started experiencing the same behavior. So, I think this has something to do at the Server side.
Earlier, when trying to open the Dial-in conferencing settings from the Lync Client (Tools --> Dial-in conferencing settings), it would automatically open the Dial-In conferencing settings in a new web page. But, recently this is not happening. The strange
thing is I will be able to open the dial-in conferencing settings manually from a web browser by typing in the URL.
Has anyone experienced similar issues in the past? I would appreciate any ideas regarding this from your part so that I can try to resolve this. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Try to rerun Step 2-Setup or Remove Lync Server Components and then test again.
Check if Lync Address Book update to the latest status.
Make sure all Lync 2013 client update to the version.
    Best Regards,

  • Intermittent Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation errors

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction...We are running Coldfusion 8 and keep getting the stub objects errors intermittently.  The web service will work for a while then it will just stop working for while, then it will start back working again.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it, and we're not doing anything to the server in the meantime.  I don't even know how to begin to diagnose the problem.  Has anyone ever seen this or have any ideas of some things we can check?
    Thanks!

It's a load-balanced environment and we've turned the bad server off for now.  Also, I was wrong.  We're running CF7. I'm getting my environments mixed up. Sorry about that. You can still get to the service on the good server though. This is the link: http://www.asthmaagents.com/services/init.cfc?WSDL  After I posted this, we were able to get a little more info.  When I went directly to the service using that link, we got this error message off and on when we would refresh the browser:
    AXIS error
Sorry, something seems to have gone wrong... here are the details:
Fault - Error attempting to create Java skeleton for CFC web service; nested exception is:
        coldfusion.xml.rpc.CFCInvocationException: [java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError : cfinit2ecfc338058839$funcRECORDSESSION]
    AxisFault
    faultCode: {http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/}Server.generalException
    faultSubcode:
faultString: Error attempting to create Java skeleton for CFC web service; nested exception is:
        coldfusion.xml.rpc.CFCInvocationException: [java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError : cfinit2ecfc338058839$funcRECORDSESSION]
    faultActor:
    faultNode:
    faultDetail:
Still, nothing is consistent and it's working fine on the other server.  I'm at a loss.  I really appreciate you taking a look at this! Any info will be helpful.
    Thanks!
