4GB but only 266 songs!
every since i've updated my itunes to the current version i can only fit about 260 songs on my ipod mini when previously i could fit 1000. could someone please help me?! has this happened to anyone else?
Bear in mind that Apple quotes the number of songs you are able to store on any iPod by using the AAC format at a bitrate setting of 128kbps and for a 4 minute song.

Look in iTunes under edit/preferences/advanced/importing. What does it say in settings and import using? You may have the import settings and bitrate set wrong. You need to compress your music using either mp3 or aac. If you see AIFF, WAV or Apple Lossless then those formats are going to take way more space than mp3 or aac, especially the first 2 which are raw uncompressed formats.
See this.
<a href="<a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60955">How much content will fit on my iPod?
Is it possible you have anything else stored on your iPod?
If you connect the iPod to iTunes what does the summary screen show?

I just subscribed to iTunes match but only 61 songs from my 7GB of music on my iphone showed up. I do not want to lose any music. What should i do? When I go to settings-music-and try to enable iTunes Match on my iPhone it says "iTunes Match will replace the music library on this device" I don't want to do that it only has 61 of my 7GB of songs.
did you find out the answer? I am afraid to hit enable.

I preorder an album but only 4 songs where downloaded but the rest of the album is not it only says purchased, please help me resolve this matter!?
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption -

Depending upon what country that you are in (music and films can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete music tracks and the film from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music and/or films or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that album and/or film and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page. -
Upgraded ram on arch64 to 4GB, but only 3Gb is recognized
I just added a 2Gb stick of ram to my work system and the bios recognizes all 4Gb but Arch only sees 3Gb. I've booted multiple live 64bit cd's and the problem persists accross all of them. I'm clueless as to what may be causing this. ANY help would be appreciated, if I can't get to use all 4 gigs, then a simple explanation would be helpful.
Here are some details I have from my system:

Last edited by jasonwryan (2010-08-18 21:47:33)The PC does support 4Gb of ram, although it's the max it supports, it does support it. I have read quite a bit about other people having this issue with other systems and I've gone all through my bios looking for SOME sort of option that I can at least play around with, but there's nothing there. I've also upgraded the bios thinking that "maybe" it could be something with that. The video card I'm using is a Nvidia Quadro NVS 420 512 Mb. I've tried disabling IndirectMemoryAccess in my xorg.conf thinking that might be messing with it somehow, but it did nothing. I just tried removing the video card altogether and running w/ the onboard video and alas! I recovered 512Mb, which I would be pleased with, but when I add the card back, the available ram disappears again. So now my question is this... Why would the kernel be reserving 512Mb of system ram for a card that has 512Mb of ram built in (at the same time not visibly acknowledging the fact that it exists)? Is this maybe a kernel option that I can pass at boot to disable it from reserving the system ram?
I'm sorry about the lack of the bbcode tags btw, I'm a first timer to the forums (however an arch user for some time now).
Thanks again for any input, it's much appreciated! -
Purchased whole album but only one song available for download
Some time ago purchased album Vēl Viena Klusā Daba by Prāta Vētra. From the whole album only one song is available for download.
Tried to delete and re-download. Remaining songs also not available under downloadable items.Hey there Egils1969,
It sounds like you have purchased an entire album but for some reason only 1 song is available for download. I would report a problem with your purchase to the iTunes Store support directly with this website:
https://reportaproblem.apple.com
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Sterling -
Max memory used in imac 2007 is 4gb but only 3 gb is every used
imac mid 2007 24inch has 4 gb installed but only uses 3gb.
It seems that there is other data that is taking up space on the iPod. I suggest formating the iPod.
Connect the iPod
Open My Computer
Right Click the iPod
Choose Format
Simply click ok.
Once you have formated the iPod you need to restore it (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983)
Then try and update the music on the iPod. -
Download music but only one songs seems to transfer
Can somebody please please help me! I have tried on numerous occassions to make this device work with me, but it aint. I have erased all songs and freshly added more to the shuffle, only to find that one song has actually been added. This cause a problem as on many occassions I have sat there for hours adding songs and albums only to find that I can listen to one out of um let's say about 100. If somebody has a easy solution I would love to hear from you. Thanks
Stacey - Let's start troubleshooting here, Go to iTunes, select one of the songs that you'd like to transfer to the shuffle that never made it and click on it. Then click CTRL + I. A window will pop up with information on the selected song. Can you tell us what it says next to each of the following entries?
1)Kind
2)Size
3)Bitrare -
I could only sync 10 songs out of 800 to my ipod, this -50 error comes up, as well as the "disk could not be read or written to error". Here is a screenshot with my digi cam:
Could this be an HD problem with my iPod? I tried syncing my library from my other ipod, but when I drag it to the ipod, its so slow in updating...and then the error would come up. Right now, I only have 10 songs on my iPod, certain songs would get on, the rest would just not go on.
Anyone know what this -50 error is and know how to fix it?
~ triggerCheck out this article on the KBase:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304820
If restoring the iPod doesn't resolve the issue then you can try deleting the file that iTunes is currently transferring when the error occurs. The file could possibly be corrupted. -
Problem accessing purchased Itunes with new computer.
6th computer purchase. Followed weak Apple instructions,...removed 5 computers, etc. Called Apple service desk. Followed instructions sent by rep that were stated to be a sure fix and easy.
Lost several hundreds of worth of music purchased before.
Can't understand the Apple appeal and goodwill.
Always overpriced, waste of time, lack of features and poor customer help. It's all about sales, image, marketing and growing. Little to do with concern for the customer value.
Any ideas on how to find the library of purchased (paid in full) songs are appreciated.
Thanks!I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (but perhaps it does more)
If you want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

ITunes burning CD but only 1st song plays on other CD players
After burning a CD via iTunes all songs will play on the PC's CD player. However, when I put the CD into a portable CD player or auto CD player only the first song plays.
You may try to switch to another brand of CDs (e.g. Verbatim) and/or reduce iTunes writing speed: Car/Portable players are sometimes quite picky.

Can't play via midi keyboard - but only one song!
I am using logic 7 now for over a year. all my songs are ok.
but there is one single one on which I can't play keyboard notes on the
software instruments. it seems all midi events do not arrive at the song.
the transport window doesn't show any events. in the environment,
if I go to the "Input View" layer, I can see midi notes being received!!!!
but somewhere on the way they get lost.
that's strange as for all the other songs there's no problem at all.
so it must be something song specific. any ideas?
the input filter check boxes in the midi settings are not checked, btw.
thanks for any help, really appreciated, as it drives me nuts, I'd like to
finish that song...You say this affects Audio Instruments; does that mean that if you use external devices, they play back okay?
If the note events are being received in the Environment, then it sounds like either they are then being routed away from the track you intended, or they are being muted.
First check for muted tracks, & then for soloed tracks (since these will mute all the others). Make sure you can see all the tracks & busses when you look!
Next, look at the input object which is receiving MIDI & see where it is routed. Unless it is routed to the track you want, you won't get the result you need. You can try switching it to another Audio Instrument to see if that makes a difference.
Also check inserts, in case you are (e.g.) gating the input!
I assume playback of previously-recorded tracks is not affected?
Do regions get created when you record (even though you can't hear anything), & if so, can you see note events when you inspect them in the editors? -
