5.1 Help with Audigy 2

I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platnium Pro and I recently upgraded to the latest drivers, bad mistake as I am having heck now trying to get everything work right again. I have Logitech Z-680 5. speaker setup. Before the upgrade in drivers, my settings were working the way I wanted to, the sound was working just fine. After the upgrade however, for some reason the newer drivers did something and messed up settings (restoring to defaults doesn't resolve the issues I am going to explain)? In World of Warcraft, the sounds seem far more distant and quiet than before, throwing me completely off. In the Speaker Test, when I choose that, I hear sound out of only the front and center channels only. Now I know the rear work because when I listen to music I can hear it via CMSS. The Windows control pannel and Creative's are both set to 5.. I tried the speaker calibration which correctly produces the right sound output and it has no effect when I enable the calibration. This boggles me on how the sound comes from the front and center (when it tests the rear, it plays through the fronts instead) but obviously the rears work cause I can hear sound while playing music. The speakers are setup for 6 Channel Direct which is the mode needed for 5. sound from a card like the Audigy. I have rolled back to previous driver version and still have the same thing. I am stuck with the weird 5. setup and it wont' go away even if I uninstall all the Creative drivers and apps and reinstall them. This is very frustrating and I don't want to have to do a clean install this close to Vista just because Creative's poor excuse for software decides to take a weird turn and not work right (who would've thought, eh?)?I'm about ready to turn on the onboard audio for the A8N-SLI Deluxe as it will probably work correctly. I"ll probably wipe Vista RC2 off ther other HDD and test if a clean install with the new drivers (or old) will work fine, they should. It should not be a hardware problem as the ports clearly work, just the software does not want to work! I just want my sound working properly again, sucks I have to go through a bunch of BS because drivers hosed how the system is working.

Just an update, did a fresh install of MCE2005 and the sound works fine, completely uninstalled everything on my current install, drivers, apps, etc, and installed them just like I did on the new install, and still have the same problems. I even used Driver Cleaner to make sure?I wiped out everything, it has to be a setting or something just laying around that I can't get rid of without doing a complete reinstall, unless some application is messing with it that's installed on my current install but I don't know what that would be.

Short story: 'Puter C dri've died. Had to put in another and reinstall Windows XP Home. Can't get the Audigy 2 card recognized. Not sure if I have the correct disc. (I love to upgrade and have too many discs.) The discs I have are for Audigy and Audigy 2 ZS. Will either of those work with the Audigy 2 (not ZS) or am I missing a disc? If I am missing the disc how can I get those files? And if it should work, could my Audigy have died, too? Appreciate the help.

If you lost the CD you find it station-drivers, you just extract them (using winrar) and execute the application mentioned above (can be found on ..\Drivers\support\i386 -folder if you have 32-bit system). Select installation (eg. no uninstallation needed), and allow installation over existing shared files.

  • Help With Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

have had this card for a while and experience no probs. Have a Behringer mixer plugeed into input 3 and 3 keyboards plugged into the behringer. Never had a prob before, but now suddenly none of the inputs seem to be working (cept midi). Ive tried going direct from the keyboard into each of the inputs and nothing. all the inputs are turned on and there is definitely a signal going into the behringer (I tired the behringer outside of the soundcard and its working fine). Dont understand whats going on. Is there something wrong with the card. Did i blow the input channels somehow? I did a complete clean and reinstall as per the instructions on this forum and that didnt work. Running an athlon xp 3000+ with windows xp.. Any help would be appreciated. If i need a new card, Im definitely going in a different direction.

So it was working 00% fine before you took your system in to be fixed?
Go back and tell them what happened. It would seem the guys who you sent it to did something to your hardware. May be hard to prove but thats where I would start.

For the past 5 months or so ( not long after I got the product ) I have been getting this periodic issue with the sound ...
I'll start to notice a popping and crackling sound coming from the left channel when loud sounds issue from the game ( multiple games ). After a while I figured ou ttha tI could :
a: Reset all my settings to Default , Then reconfigure my surround
    or
b: Reinstall and/or patchthe current driver set ...
Both seem to fix the issue for some time then it all returns within a month or so .... It's a rela pain to have to keep configuring my Audio settings every month.
    My system specs are
    Asus A7N8X DLX Rev. 02
    AMD 3000+
    Gig Corsair XMS
    BFG 6800GT 256
    Audigy 2 ZS
    Raptor 74 Gig
and some Altec Landsing Speakers ( I forgot the model number )
Any idea what could be causing this ?
    Thanks in advance.

I got the fix for you twellons. Just go in the audio control panel and mute the midi/synth in the panel and you will have the fix. My system specs are close toy yours amd 2800xp, nforce 2 a7n8x dlx ver .04 and a original audigy card. Now creative has to address this issue in new drivers. Also download the demo of contract jack and when you load the game and the game menus comes up, scroll through the options in that menu like new game, load game quickly and you will here that popping noise in only the left speaker. and when you do that fix that i mentioned above, no more popping . So try that out and please get back to me and tell me if it worked or not. That issue was tough to figure out.

  • Help with Audigy Plati

    Guys,
I recently formatted my computer and now I get no sound on my Audigy
Platinum. The card gets detected by windows xp fine - latest driver -
    latest BIOS.
The firewire port on both the card and the front panel work fine.
    (external HD)
I get no errors from dxdiag and the PC is 'supposedly' playing MP3's
etc as I see the graphical effects. I have tested different speakers
(speakers work - tested on another PC). I also borrowed the exact same
card from a friend and had the same issue. I also tested this with
linux (knoppix) and have the same issue.
If I put all the volume meters to 00% and stick my ear to the speaker
I will be able to barely hear whatever is playing at that moment.
I have also tried every other PCI slot on my motherboard (Tyan Tiger
MP). I also have a Geforce 4 is that hel
    ps.
    Thanks!

I seem to be having the same problem, after upgrading my motherboard and CPU.
Did you ever get to the bottom of your problem?
    Thanks.

  • Seeking tech help with Audigy 2 Val

Recently bought an Audigy 2 Value because I wanted to move away from the Realtek AC97 onboard sound on my motherboard. However, I'm having a problem which I've isolated specifically to music.
While running either of my online applications (Everquest and City of Heroes), I was experiencing random lockups while playing - screen freezes, no way to three finger out of them to desktop, no keyboard response. This would happen at random times after very short playtimes. I normally run with an audio program playing in the back, either Winamp or iTunes. I've discovered that if I play without either of these, I run for a longer time before crashing, but I would still get the crashes. The only way I can play for an extended periods of time is to also turn off all ingame music - at that point, both applications become completely stable.
Needless to say, I am unhappy that a Creative product seems to be working WORSE than the onboard sound chip on my 3 year old motherboard. It doesn't make me any happier to see that there have been no driver updates since November of last year on this one particular card, when every other card you have seems to have been updated regularly.
For the record, this is my rig:
Gigabyte 7VAX motherboard (Bios version 3)
    Athlon 2200+ processor
    GB ram
    Radeon 9600 videocard
SB Audigy 2 Value (identified as [D000] by the system)
350w power supply (this is new)
So, my two questions are these - are there any available solutions to being able to have music running in my games? I cannot find any in the Knowledge Base. Secondly, are there going to be driver updates for the card in the very near future?

    Catherina, thanks for the reply.
As to solutions I've attempted so far before using the forum:
    - Moved card into 2 different PCI slots. No joy.
    - Added additional cooling systems in case it's an overheating problem. That's not it.
    - All drivers are current. This includes BIOS, Hyperion 4in Drivers, video card, and ALi drivers. Direct X is current (9.0c)
    - The system is stable utilizing all other programs I use regularly. iTunes does not crash by itself. Winamp does not crash by itself. Windows Media Player 0 does not crash. To make sure it's an isolated problem, I reinstalled and tried Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Red Alert 2 and Diablo 2. All three played flawlessly, with no problems in sound whatsoever. I have also reinstalled Half-Life, and it crashes randomly to reboot. The card passes all DirectSound tests in DxDiag.
Based on what I've found, there's something about music and Internet connectivity in games alone that does not work correctly. Internet Explorer works flawlessly, both with music on and off in the background. I can try moving it again to either of the other two slots and see if that does anything, but frankly, I'm stumped - and as I mentioned, it's been close to 5 months since there was a driver update for this card, and Everquest and City of Heroes have both had many updates since then, so I can't be sure that something in their patches makes this unstable.Message Edited by Nimzoplagarism on 03-07-2005 :2 PM

  • Help with audigy 2 zs gamers. head phone / speaker

can i have both headphones an speaker pluged in at card the same time .mute one when using the other.use to have turtle beach card an it was easy to do .thanks for any help

    jutapa,
Yeah, I've seen that solution, and that's the way I would go personally. But sometimes simple is fine. I guess I could add another simple solution--using a Y-splitter. Connect speakers to one branch and headphones to the other and plug it into Line-out . Then select 2/2. speakers or headphones or whatever.
    Congratulations on reaching Guru rank!

You can also connect the Audigy 2 ZS Headphone output (from proprietary connector (J)) to the PC case FrontPanel (or just mount a new jack connector to your case Front (like I did) ). Here are some advicing how to do it (!! you can skip connecting the microphone if you feel not needing it --> just 3 wires to solder).
I just made (today) this connection for my A2 (! it has different order on pins vs. showed on picture for A2ZS) --> when both "Line-Out " and "Headphones" (on PC case) are in use simultaenously, the output level decreases hardly at all.

  • Help with Audigy 2 ZS

Hey all,  I just built my very first computer and I have also installed a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS in there as well.  But after I have installed all the drivers and the like, I get no sound at whatsoever after the reboot.  I have no idea what is going on.  I also installed the real AC' 97 and nvidia audio drivers but I don't think they do too much if I don't have my 5.1 setup(Logitech Z-640) connected to the onboard audio.  anybody have any suggestions?  thanks.

Probably set to digital output instead of analog- go to the THX setup console, and set to analog output.

  • Help with Audigy

I am not overly computer savvy - can someone tell me if the Audigy2zs is Vista compatible, and if so what drivers do I need to make it usuable.
Components of my mixer are not working - recording, what you hear and others. The computer repair people say I need a new soundcard, but I thought it wise to check first if this is true. Thanks for any advice anyone could give me.

  • Creative Audigy Platinum Installation Help with Pentium 4 3.2GHz HT Enab

    :mansad:
Dear Fellows,I have recently upgraded to a new Pentium 4 machine. The config is as follows:Pentium 4 3.2eGHz MB cache HT (Hyper-Threading Enabled)Intel Original 865GBF MainboardGB Kingston DDR 400MHz RAM20GB SATA WD HDDSound Blaster Audigy PlatinumATI RADEON 8500 DV 64MBThe problem I am facing is with Audigy Platinum. Once I install the operating system (Win XP) and move to the installation of Creative Audigy Platinum Sound card. All the applications are installed and the system hangs while updating *drivers*. I restarted but it corrupts the whole operating system conflicting with Display Driver, Mainboard driver as well as Windows. CD/DVD Rom also disappear. I then reinstalled operating system again. I would like to request for help and solving this issue and I dont want to get rid of Creative Audigy. I have heard complaints with Hyper-threading technology but I disabled it and the same problem occured. I tried everything e.g. latest drivers from Creative website, BIOS updates, Driver updates etc etc. The problem starts once the drivers are to be updated for Creative Audigy Platinum.Anticipating your response soon.Regards,

    Hi Jeremy,
I would like to thank you for your kind assistance with my problem.
Heres the good news, I finally managed to install and run my Creative Audigy Platinum perfectly.
Credit goes to your assitance and support.
For your info, I would like you to know what I really did.
I have an Intel Genuine 865GBF mainboard. I installed clean copy of Windows XP (SP) and downloaded and installed latest Chipset INF utility from Intel website. I guess this utility tells the mainboard what kind of hardware is configured on the board.
Please note that I did not add any PCI card except the AGP graphics card.
After finishing Windows XP, I installed the Creative Audigy Card in a different PCI slot. When windows started, it detected the sound card installed.
I simply ran the driver and programs from the Creative CD and it installed perfectly. I then updated the drivers downloaded from the Sound Blaster site in correct order.
After finishing with Creative Audigy Platinum installation. I installed other hardware devices, service packs, AV and applications.
Its the third day and everything is running well.
I just wrote the steps if someone else faces the same problem, he/she can sort it out the same way.
    Thanks again for your help.
    Best regards,

     b noir,
I can get itunes to start if I disable Bonjour or if I "repair" it first. Sometimes I can repair Bonjour though add/remove programs, sometimes it will only "repair" using WinRar. Sometimes I have to "repair" Bonjour 2 or 3 times to get iTunes to start.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling at least a dozen times. I have tried redownloading iTunes at least 5 times and from different links. This leads me to believe that the dnssd.dll file is not itself corrupt, but this newest version is causing a conflict with XP somewhere somehow.
Team, iTunes 10.2.2.12 has just been released. I installed it and checked, and BonJour's been updated to version 2.0.5.0, and there's a new 2.0.5.0 version of dnssd.dll on my system. So I reckon it's worth a try updating to that to see if it's of any help with your trouble.
