5 New Features that Edge Animate should support

I have 5 requests for a future release of Edge Animate:
01. Allow us to import entire Photoshop files with the individual layers intact and "stacked" correctly in Edge to speed up production
02. Support Z depth layer transform for 3D projection and 2.5D animation purposes
03. Include dynamic filters such as lens blur, glow, and other After Effects type filters that the user can apply to any given layer in Edge...also make the filter properties animatable
04. Be able to directly import .MOV, H.264, .FLV, and .WMV video files instead of writing code that references a video from a different location
05. Support dynamic masking in Edge for any given layer and make the masking properties animatable
Thanks!

For 3 and 5 the limitation isn't really the cpu. The limitation is the spec. Edge Animate is attempting to work within the HTML5, CSS3 and javascript specifications. That way when you create an edge animation it should play nicely across all modern browsers. One of the great things about using a plug-in like Flash is that any of that missing code sould be provided by the plug-in and we weren't limited by waiting for the browser to support it.
That said, I keep seeing more and more amaziing things done with javascipt. And there is already some limited filter support svg images (on some browsers) So maybe soft, feathered masks, blurs,  glows, and ink effects (add, lighten, multiply) will arrive sooner rather than later.

We will update you on the fix. Right now, if you add jquery ui as a dependency after jQuery, that will solve your problem. I am sharing a sample here - Dropbox - EC.zip. I am loading jQuery UI from the CDN, you can copy is locally also and load it from there.

    Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.

  • How do I disable the new feature that disables outdated plugins unless they are clicked?

I'm running Adobe Acrobat 8. I'm happy with it. Firefox has a new feature that automatically disables the PDF plugin unless it's clicked. It's called the "Click to Play" feature. Even when disabled, it's not really disabled: it activates itself for "vulnerable plugins." Though there is an option to make a website trusted for plugins, there is seemingly no way to make the PLUGIN ITSELF trusted. As a result, every time I get a PDF, I have to Click to Play.
Question: How do I truly disable this stupid new feature?
There is the following support article that explains this new system, and that the only solution is trust a website, but apparently can't disable the feature or trust the plugin:
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/why-do-i-have-click-activate-plugins?esab=a&s=disable+click+to+play&r=13&as=s

In about:config, set extensions.blocklist.enabled to false

  • Is there any code hinting or debugging feature in Edge Animate?

I notice that edge animate javascript and jquery syntax is somewhat atypical, and at times proprietary. Unlike in Flash and action script, I am unable to get any help from within the program when a block of code fails to execute. I don't know if the problem is with the syntax on one of many lines of code, or that I merely forgot a semicolon.
I would think that help with coding with the application would be an integral part of the application since user interactivity is so common on many website and that interactivity requires, at times, some sophisticated scripts.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

What about Edge Animate -specific syntax (e.g "Sym.$("something")" vs "this.".) That syntax is not standard js or jquery. Correct? I was hoping that Adobe provided coding help within the program.
It doesn't seem that this program gets frequent improvements. I've had the program installed on my computer for just shy of three months and there's been no updates whatsoever. To me scripting is an important component of any animation program that is used on the web, where interactivity is key.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Did you hear that? A new version of Edge Animate CC will break Edge Animate?

I'm on a OSX10.9.1. Updated Edge, hoping for some of the many bugs to disappear. Ended up with unusable software. When I open Edge Animate now, I only get a white screen. If I try to open a previous file or make a new one, I cant do anything without the good old "An error occured. Please save your work and restart Edge Animate". I can't even see any of the content in the file.
I have tried reinstalling Creative cloud and Edge animate several times, I'm not behind any firewall that would block anthing adobe and I have deleted the preferences.
What can I do to make this work again?

The Actions pop-up window has been redesigned to be more designer-friendly. The enhancedActions editor reduces the need to code, making it easier to add interactivity and more approachable for designers.

    A. Step 1: Pick an action B. Step 2: Pick a target C. Step 3: Edit the code snippet
The new Actions editor visually guides you through the various steps in assigning actions to targets.
Pick an Action - Actions are now logically grouped into categories. If you know the name of the action, you can search for the action using the search box. Else, pick a category to view the actions in it and click the required action.
Pick a Target - Targets are grouped under Stage. Click Stage to view the target elements. When you click Stage, you may find a subcategory for Symbols if your composition contains symbols. Double-click the target element.
Modify the code snippet as required.
If you find portions of code that are reused often, you can save them as snippets and insert them with a single click when required.
    Save code snippets
In the Actions editor, click '+' adjacent to My Snippets, and then click one of the following options:
    Custom snippets
    Create Custom
Click to enter your own code and save it as a snippet. When you click this options, a code window appears. Type your code, click Save, and then enter a name for the snippet.
    Add New From Selection
Click to save the selected portion of the code as a snippet. Enter a name for the snippet in the Actions editor.
    Insert code snippets
In the code window of the Actions editor, click at the location where you want to insert the code snippet. Click My Snippets, and then choose the required snippet from the list that appears. The saved snippet gets inserted at the insertion point in the code window.

  • New feature to add: Manual Duplex Support for Non-Duplex-Printers

    Hi,
I wanted to propose the implementation of a feature which helps users with printers that don't support automatic duplex printing.
+The feature should help to sort the document right (even vs. odds), start a first job, wait for an user's confirmation that he has put the paper back into the printer after first pass and start a second job.+
Printing on both sides of a sheet is very, very uncomfortable at the moment.
Is it possible to implement such a feature?
What do you think? If you agree, help to get some attention to this post!
    Message was edited by: Deflex

Is it really so bad? It's only two or three mouse clicks more than what you are asking for. I'd hardly call that "very uncomfortable".

  • New feature that need to be considered sisde by side migration

    Hya,
We are going to migrate from sccm 2007 to 2012.
we have one primary site in our 2007 environment and no others. one site server and sql backend
we have approx 1000 user so no need to create additional primary sites in 2012.
but we do have 20-30 remote sites using a 1mb dsl line to the main office. only 2-3 pcs at these sites.
I was thinking of building the new environment single server also and backend sql server. then migrating the clients by doing side by side migration.
one thing that im not sure about is the "USER-CENTRIC" functionality of sccm 2012-->if I do a side by side migration then the new system 2012 will not be setup for this feature and will be targetting collections of devices.
Can someone give me some pointers in the best way to migrate?
    cheers Mike

You don't need to worry about this to carry out the migration. You are migrating devices so continue what you are doing.
When you start using ConfigMgr 2012 configure Active Directory User Discovery. Then you can create user collections and configure deployments to target users.
