- 50 error imovie

any ideas?

Hi
Error -50 paramErr  Error in user parameter list
Can there be any external hard disks - if so How is/are it/they formatted ? Must be Mac OS Extended (hfs) if used for Video.
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most but not for VIDEO.
What this means in Your situation is above me.
• free space on internal boot hard disk? How much ?
Video codec
• streamingDV, AIC etc. (not .avi, .mp4, .m4v, .wmv etc as they are containers not codecs)
Pictures
• in what format ? .jpg, .bmp, .tif, else ?
Audio
• from where/what format ? iTunes, .avi, .mp3, .aiff, else ?
The "com.apple.iMovie.plist" file
Many users has not observed that there are TWO libraries.
• Library - at root level
• Library - in user/account folder - THIS IS THE ONE to look into
from Luke Burns
I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

You need more free space on your hard drive.

After phone support from apple I ended up creating a new project and adding all 117 clips back in individually till I found out what clips flagged and would not allow me to export. I had 3 I deleted and replaced and everything works now 1hr after tedious work....
Where do Your material come from
• Camera
• External hard disk
• USB-memory
And all are connected so that iMovie can find it ?

  • Error iMovie could not be sent to iDVD during share process

I've just finished editing a 5 minute movie with iMovie 6.0.3
When I click the share menu on iMovie, then click iDVD I get an error box that states the movie could not be sent to iDVD, because if an unknown error
Furthermore it states to please be sure that iDVD is properly installed. It is, I just made a DVD with iDVD a couple days ago.
Additionally, it states to make sure my project disk has write permission. It does I checked on that.
Then finally it asks if I have enough disk space. I do as I've hardly used any of my external fire wire hard drive.
I wonder if this problem has anything to do with the G-Drive firewire hard drive? When I shared iMovie last time with iDVD I used the Mac's internal hard drive and not the external hard drive.
Thanks in advance for any help

Okay, Catspaw this is where it gets confusing. In the installation guide for the G=Drive on page 13 of 15 of the pdf file for cross platform use it states:
    7.3. Cross Platform Use
To setup your G-DRIVE for use on both Windows and
Macintosh systems, use the Apple Disk utility and format
    G-DRIVE FAT32.
    1. Open the Apple Disk Utility. (The Apple Disk Utility is
currently limits FAT32 partitions to 32GB in size)
    WARNING:
THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA ON YOUR DRIVE.NOTE: The 'MS-DOS File System' cannot write files over 4 GB. If you are working with files over 4 GB, you may want to choose a software option like MacDrive. MacDrive is Windows software that enables the Windows OS to mount MAC
Sorry for the lengthy discourse, its the only way I can explain what I did to set the G-Drive up for my Mac.
I go to Get Info for the G-Drive while its mounted on the Mac and it states the Format is MS-DOS File System (Fat 32) not Mac OS Extended as you mention.
I'm confused now, because the G-Drive installation directions state Click “Erase” and your drive will be formatted to its full capacity as FAT32. With this format, you will be able to READ/WRITE on both windows (2000/XP) and MAC OS machines.
Any insight to the Mac OS extended and FAT32 for cross platform use?
Further checking the installation instructions for a MAC without cross platform use it does state MAC OS extended.
So now I'm confused with two scenarios one cross platform (FAT32) the other not cross paltform (Mac OS extended) By cross platform I mean that I can also use the G-Drive with my Sony PC
    Thanks in advance

  • Redering error Imovie 10.0.7

    Hello.
Im getting a redering error: -50 every time I try to render my first movie. It happends at the same time all the time, at a certain clip. I read that one solution is to delete this clip. But for me I might as well delete the project. Theres gotta be another way. I cannot see anything wrong with the clip I must use and it is recorded in the same batch as the other clips with the same camera.
I hope there is some sound advice out there!
    Thanks

Yeah, kind of similar to Photos for OS X. Here's a screenshot of the Adjustments menu in Photos for OS X.
Anyway, hopefully you'll be able to adjust colours numerically again in future versions of iMovie.

  • Disk Space Exporting Error - iMove '09

Hello all.  I am using iMovie '09 - and when I export my hour long movie I get an error after about 1 minute of exporting that says
"The operation could not be completed because there is not enough space on the destination disk."
However, my destination disk (i.e. my external hard drive) has over 700 gigs of space available. Does anyone know what's going on?  If it helps, my system is a 10.5.8 desktop, and I imported the video directly from a Sony HD camera into iMovie.

    Hi
Yes - As I guess - the amount of free space ON YOUR Start-Up Hard disk is far from 700Gb free space.
Most probably far from 25Gb free space - and even
    Far from 5Gb free space
Less than 1Gb  may be ?
As Mac today is UNIX - it behaves like it = Meaning that Applications and OS - needs lot's of lot's of space for their temp. files so my minimum of 25Gb for interlaced SD-Video is no over estimation and if HD then multiply with 4 to 5 times more to be on the safe side.
BUT - External Hard Disk - Yes it's important that there is enough space there too - But the temp. files can not be addressed here - so the free space to run OK - MUST BE on the Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk - no secure way around this.

  • Audio Export Error - iMovie 09

    Hey guys,
I have a race montage with numerous HD clips. I set all of the clips to "0% Audio Levels" and imported a song from my iTunes library instead. When viewed in iMovie, the video is great! But when I export it and view it, some of the clips I used aren't muted, thus creating "slowmo voices" and random sounds coming from my source files. I double-checked everything and I did MUTE all audio for that track, yet when rendered, it shows up along with the music?
I tried to remove the music and just render everything as a plain video file so I could add audio in a separate project, but the same issue happens. Some of my clips wont mute! HELP before I throw my new iMac i7 out the window!
    -Cliff

Check to see if you are using any custom fast motion or slow motion settings. As long as you stick to the pre-sets on the tic marks (like 25%, 50%, 200%, etc.), the sound is OK. When you go for a custom setting like 58% or 137%, it seems to mess up the sound.

Maybe the above thread has a useful suggestion...rebooting.
If you do a google search for these kind of errors, sometimes there is a solution out there that works.

  • How to revert back to iMovie 9 after reinstalling Mavericks?

    Good Day All,
I recently had to reinstall my OS (OSX Mavericks) for my MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid 2012 Model. Prior to this, I had iMovie 10 (yuck), AS WELL AS the old iMovie, which had remained behind in my applications folder (iMovie 9).
Before I reinstalled the OS, I made sure to copy the iMovie 9.0.9 application to my hard drive, and once a clean OS was installed, I made sure to drag iMovie 9.0.9 back to my applications folder and run it, however I am met with an error:
iMovie 9.0.9 has failed to start (not the exact words I cannot remember, as now whenever I launch it the icon pops up in my dock and than a split second later disappears)
Is there anyway I can get iMovie 9.0.9 back after a clean OS install?
I already downloaded this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1574 (the iMovie 9.0.9 update), however it fails to work, as the only iMovie I have on my machine is the horrible iMovie 10, and it required an older iMovie to update too.
Any help at all will be very appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Sound is in sync in imovie '09 but off in idvd when using alternate speeds

I'm working in imovie 09(8.0.6) and everything seems to be working fine such as transitions, effects, speed, etc. My project looks great in the imovie viewer. I'm finished with all the editing, when I get to IDVD(7.0.4) and preview it, burn it, or save as disk image then toast it sound from the back end of the movie/video can be heard near the begining. All my software has been updated!!! On my last project everything worked fine. What could have caused this?

If you are using fast motion or slow motion, be sure to stick with the preset tick marks of 12.5%, 25%, 50%, 200%, 400%, 800%. Using a custom percentage like 133% or 42% will produce random audio errors.
iMovie 11 corrects this by forcing you to stick to the tick marks.

  • Can't add songs from iTunes to iMovie

I'm having a new problem. I have the latest versions of iTunes and iMovie. I've used iMovie before and never encountered this - I can't add any songs to a track. When I try to do this, I get the error: "iMovie song could not be used because the original file could not be located." Please help.

I know this thread's fairly old, but I tried everything mentioned here and in a few other threads I saw on the web, and finally I found something that worked: It seems iMovie couldn't access the "main" library, but COULD access songs that were a assigned to playlists, when you select the playlist in the music selection pane. So, I made a playlist called "global" and put my entire library into it. I selected that playlist in iMovie, and now it can find every song I have!

  • Can't find i-tunes library in iPhoto and iMovie

have migrated to a new mac.
    Everything looks o.k.
The only thing I can't use is iTunes when creating a slideshow in iPhoto or a movie in iMovie
    Any suggestions?
    thanks

I'm having the same problem. Have the latest versions of iTunes and iMovie. I've used iMovie before and never had this problem. I can't add any songs to a track. When I do I get this error: "iMovie song could not be used because the original file could not be located." Please help.

  • IMovie has froze in the installing (updates) phase on my iPhone 5

    Hello...
For some reason my iMovie is stuck - "installing" - (updates) on my iPhone 5.
Any ideas how to fix this - I've check my iPhone and I do have the current updates as
far as the iPhone is concerned.
    Thanks for any feedback,
    Nick

I am also experiencing install problems with iPhone 5 and iMovie.  The iMovie app gets 95% of the way there on the phone and then kicks out the error "iMovie failed to install".  I have the latest iOS and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iMovie.  No luck.  Start from a total restore?
    Thanks.

  • My computer is all of a sudden super slow! What's up and what to do???

I've been working on a massive project in iMovie. Downloading from my camera and DVDs. Somewhere along the line it said my hard drive was getting full. So I set up the external drive I bought when I bought my computer (but which I had never used yet). I dragged my project to the external drive and continued working.
But now everything is really slow and weird. It always took only a few seconds to turn my computer on. Now it takes like 5 minutes or something crazy. I don't know what to do!
(OK, I just got my computer on, but the hard drive isn't showing up. I'll post this and restart the computer, hopefully the hard drive will show up and the computer will come on...)

Always leave at least 15% of free space on your hard drive and don't ever, ever ignore warnings that it is getting too full. A disk without adequate free space can easily result in some extremely nasty, non-recoverable disk errors. iMovie and most other graphics/video programs use temporary files (scratch files) when you edit that can suck disk space like a black hole. iMovie will use the disk where you first save your project for scratch space so make sure that disk or partition has plenty of free space. If you are working with large graphic files it makes sense to keep the scratch space for them on a partition or an external other than where your system resides.
Back up your internal hard drive immediately. It's also a good idea to have a second backup of any mission critical data. After you are absolutely sure that you have a rock solid backup use Disk Utility to repair your internal hard drive. If any errors are reported keep repeating the repair process until Disk Utility gives your internal a clean bill of health.

  • Many programs I used to use in Tiger doesn't work in Leopard

Here are the ones I've noticed have not been working or have errors:
    iMovie
    iChat
    Yahoo Messenger
    Adium
    VisualHub
There are probably like 10 more but I haven't seen it yet. Why are so many programs are acting like this. I was thinking it was becasuse it wasn't ugpraded enough but I did install the newer version and it doesn't work.

Well, haven't we had to deal with a slew of updates every two years?
And at least Vista x64 is probably more secure, supports EFI (UEFI 2.).
The same people that would need a Mac Pro (dual cpu, 8GB RAM, etc) would be looking at 64-bit.
Did not Apple tout the G5 from IBM as finally being a 64-bit system? But yes, even Adobe CS3 is still 32-bit and limited to 3.5GB of user space, which there are work arounds for.
One person I tried to help was using Maya but his version doesn't work with Leopard, and blames Apple and 10.5 it seems, rather than realize he needs to consider an 8-core system rather than 4-core, more memory, make better use of disk and RAID, and of course... upgrade software or... WAIT FOR MAYA AND 10.5.x to catch up to each other!
People assume you have to wait for SP1 for Windows, but think they should jump rigtht in, when we all have seen that X.3 is usually the first "sweet spot" in any release.
