5800 31.0.101 CRASH - phone useless

After I updated to FW 31.0.101 OTA the phone restarts about 30 seconds after finished start up. This happens all the time, meaning my phone is now completely useless. This is just one of very many problems this phone has offered, but this particular one is not possible to work around. I am actually so unsatisfied with mostly everything about this phone, including nokias support of it, that I have difficulties seeing myself ever returning to nokia in the future. Despite all this, I don't want to buy a new phone after having just bought this three months ago. Therefore I hope that this insane problem has a solution, so it might last until the next generation Iphone is released.
Please reply as soon as possible, because I dont have a mobile phone now!!

make a backup of the phones files but dont make a backup of the phones settings, then update again the firmware. after the update is finished perform this.
1)with the phone turned off
2)press and hold [Green] + [Red] + [Camera] Keys
3)keep pressing them while you turn the phone on until you see the nokia shaking hands Logo.
after that the phone will be resetted to the firmware defaults, then restore the backup.

Restore the phone on the same computer it was last synced to and it will not require the unlock code.
If you don't have access to that computer you will have to use Recovery mode, which will wipe all content. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

Sounds like you have a phone that was hacked to unlock it. Updating has re-locked it to the original carrier. ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Contact them.

Can't Resotre - phone useless

hi -
major issue: the phone completely stopped working, so i performed a "hard reset". This didn't help, so i've restored the phone to apparently factory settings.
Once it powers up, i get the apple logo, then 100s of lines of script roll by, then it returns to the apple logo.
EVEN after several attempts to restore, several reboots, the latest version of itunes - i STILL can't use the phone. It's totally useless.

Any ideas how i do a full a complete restore of the software, or a proper hard reset? This phone is completely useless.

If you've hacked the phone, some apps may completely render your phone useless if you try to install a firmware update. I know from experience. the only solution is to do a full system restore, which means you're going to lose all your hacks, any pictures you've taken with the camera, and any notes you had stored.
To restore, connect your iPhone to the dock, then press and hold the home and lock button for about 30 seconds, until you get a message saying "connect to itunes" Itunes should still recognize the device. Once you do this, you'll have to do a full system restore. Once restored, you have to input your phone # to verify that it has been activated with AT&T, and then you should be in business.
If you haven't installed any hacks, and you can't do a full restore, then I suggest you take it to an apple store, or contact apple support.

5800 XM Photo Gallery Crash ? Firmware suggession ...

Hello , in my 5800 XM. The photo Gallery crashes every time in loading thumbnails when browsing. I got more than 100 pics and it keeps crashing when scrolling.
Plz tell me if its the latest firmware ( v52.0.07 ) or its my 2 GB external memory or phone's memory?
If it is the firmware problem, Plz fix it and release a stable firmware soon with improvements aspected like home screen widgets and bugs fixed like white box in menus.
If it is the memory than optimize it too, i've also tried a custom firmware and photo gallery was much smooth.

Don't think it's firmware otherwise there would be a whole heap of users with the same problem. I'd suggest tranfering all of the pics to your PC, checkdisk your MMC and then transfer it all back to your MMC to see if that has fixed it.
If not, you'd probably have to go the hard reset option. Sorry.

5800 key lock problem during phone calls - firmwar...

I am using Mail for Exchange, my company forces the phone to lock after 10 minutes of idle time.
When I get a phonecall when the phone is locked, there is no way that you can have access tto normal phonecall functions as <Mute> and <Speaker> during a phonecall. And you can not unlock without breaking the call..
Yes when you receive a call ther is a green <answer> and a blue <unlock> slider. Howvever when swipng the <unlock> you can only choose between <answer> and <reject> and there is [Option] that gives you access to <answer> or <reject> aswell.
In other words no access to phone functions, No way you can activate the speaker on the phone when you were called while the phone was locked. This is quite useless and in my opinion a design flaw.

whats stupid that your company has locked the phone in some way?
back up your data and reformatt the phone if you wish this should remove the lock (where ever they got it from we would like to know)

5800 Ovi and internet crash

I just got a 5800 its been working perfectly till the last week. Since then ever time I try to open the Ovi Store I get the following message:
"Script Alert: Application initialisation failed."
If I try and browse it online using the phone it keeps trying to open itself and I get the same message. I tried updating it to the latest version but it still won't work.
Now I also have a problem with the internet browser, it keeps exiting when I try to use the back function.
I would really appreciate some advice what to do as this is ruining my ability to use the phone!

its not an update of the ovi app or the phone. this relates to an issue with the 5800, where the a full hard reset (red-green-camera-on) is required.
it starts with your web browser crashing when your trying to enter some text into a field. while this happens, you'll find that the ovi store app won't work - since it primarily uses the phone's web app to access the web. you'll notice that there is an app trying to access the internet without you opening anything [mysterious].
if anyone knows the reason for it to happen and knows how to stop it...?

N80 menu crashing phone freezing advice needed

Hi guys i'm new on here, i've had my N80 12days and now its started to crash and freeze its completely useless to me at the moment as it wont go into any menu. Most calls go straight through to answer phone despite full signal and the battery life is **bleep** - but i've got some tips to improve that.
I rang orange who said its the softwear and the only way to fix it is to take battery out and replace it, they then said there may be softwear upgrade available.
I'm not very technical and i've not been able to find anything about this so far.

I agree here, I have has some experience with this and have taken quite a few big companes to court and won (i did this with my sendo X and pixmania) because they just try to fob you off, as a buyer you have rights, and as explained above you have the right to purchase a product and that product should work in the way intended for a reasonable amount of time, with many things reasonable actually goes beyond 12 months, but 12 months is just a nice round number.
When you speak to them just mention the office of fair trading, trading standards and offcom and watch how their attitude changes, if it does not threaten them that you are giving them 7 days notice to rectify your problems or you will take them to small claims court and claim for reimbursment and all costs involved), you can do this online, its very easy and costs about £50 (which you can claim for in the summons).
As soon as they get the summons (which is usually next day or within 24 hours) they will be more than happy to do whatever is needed to fix your problem because the last thing any company wants is a CCJ, and dont forget to tell them to send you a check for the cost of the claim, if they refuse tell them you will continue with the claim untill they fix your phone AND reimburse you with your costs.
DONT STOP THE CLAIM UNTILL YOU ARE SATISFIED.

IOS 8.1.3 safari crashing, phone constantly freezing, & battery drain

i updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1.3 last night and I literally can't even use safari. Every time I open safari it crashes and closes. If by some miracle it does open, it closes after a few minutes. Everything keeps freezing too. Like if I can manage to get safari open for a minute, if I try to type in the address bar, it will just freese up and then safari will crash and close. Also my battery is draining significantly fast now. What the **** apple?! I can't even restore my phone because I'm traveling in Canada and if I restore it it will not be able to activate through my cellular carrier since my carriee doesn't exist in Canada (I'm roaming). is anyone having these issues and/or have a fix for them? My phone is literally not useable.

I did not mention in my earlier post that the LTE network too seemed to be slow/sluggish.
Kept looking for a solution and found this post which seems to help.

Undebuggable crash launching from Cortana (or - how can I attach the debugger to my about-to-crash phone app?)

I integrated voice activation for my WP8.1 universal app, however it doesn't appear to be possible to debug the case when starting the app afresh via Cortana with speech terms.
There are three main speech startup cases I've played with:
1) App is suspended - can be seen in multitasking list by holding down back button, go to Cortana "myapp do something" - reactivates the app, calls App.OnActivated. Works fine.
2) App has been terminated - not in the multitasking list. Go to Cortana "start myapp" - starts the app like it was launched from the app list, calls App.OnLaunched but not
OnActivated. Works fine.
3) App has been terminated - not in the multitasking list. Go to Cortana "myapp do something" - starts the app, comes through to App.OnActivate but the app hangs for a few seconds on
the splash screen and crashes (device and emulator).
I want to catch the 3) case in the debugger, but cannot find a way to attach the debugger to my running package in the time window between activation and crashing. I think something is happening
deep in xaml land, but it's become impossible to instrument. I'm actually at the point now where it doesn't do anything in the OnActivate handler at all... no page navigation happens in the app but it still crashes.
I have a debug dump showing what appears to be a divide-by-zero exception but I can't seem to debug it in VS2013 as it complains about skipping loading symbols for NGen'd exe and "The exception
thread has exited or the dump contains invalid thread information".
I cannot seem to find any information on how to effectively debug this scenario - it seems an important one for Cortana integration.
Basic repro:
In VS2013, create a new universal Hub app and editing the Windows Phone project:
Add Microphone capability in app manifest
Change the Display Name in the app manifest to something sayable.
Add in the most trivial speech activation capability using the VoiceCommandManager in App.OnLaunched with a very basic speech file.
Run once from the debugger to ensure everything is set up ok and voice command file is installed.
Kill from the debugger to make sure the app is terminated.
Hold down phone/emulator search button.
Say the phrase to start your app (in my case "CortanaCrashTest test something").
Cortana recognises the phrase and says it's going to start your app... app starts...
Sits on app splash screen, hang and crash.

I had the same problem and solved it.
This issue occurred because OnLaunched method is not called when the App is activated.
You have to copy some code from OnLaunched method in order to correct your problem.
OnActivated method must start with this code to correct your issue :

Fair To Presume That An Update Wouldn't Render A Phone Useless

This is now turning into an all-day mistake. I use my phone for business purposes and Apple should have/could have anticipated something like this. At least warning if not completely preventing existing iPhone users from updating. The gem here is that I, like so many others, could without issue update my iTunes, and then download the 2.0 iPhone software. It is obvious by these threads that by the time I did this, Apple was already experiencing serious server issues. To not post a warning that the next step, installation of the 2.0 software would carry risk of operation is inexcusable. I work in electronics and I cannot think of any other mission critical device that would be rendered completely useless after all downloads and all installs are complete. A simple warning would have gone a long way.

While Android 2.0 is a min requirement, the cpu the phone or tablet or such device has is what makes the (huge) difference on whether current release of mobile Firefox will work or not.

Sorry but this phone is not compatible with the current mobile Firefox releases due to the ARMv6 (ARM11) CPU it uses (Qualcomm MSM7600A) when the releases work on ARMv7 cpu's. If it is not in Market then it likely means the hardware is not compatible.
You can perhaps try the experimental ARMv6 nightlies (Fennec).

Large email attachments crash phone, can't delete email

My son sent me an email with 4 jpg files attached, total size of all attachments is about 25MB. I know this because I was able to download the email and look at photos on my laptop. However, when I got mail on my phone, this email just choked the phone (OS 4.1). Can't download it, can't read it, can't delete it. Seems like the phone just locks up for a while, then the apple screen of death appears, and I can use the phone again. However, trying to delete this email just causes it to crash again, etc...etc...
I have now deleted the email and attachment off the server, so it's gone there. But the phone just refuses to give it up.
Seems like the upgrade to 4.1 was a big mistake. This OS seems to have all sorts of problems with email choking it, if there's any attachment of any significant size. I don't recall 3.X OS having this problem.

Apparently you feel I offended you in some way which upon reviewing my response to your post I am at a loss to pinpoint. So my apologies if your feelings were hurt because I didn't intend to do so. I also don't feel that deleting and recreating an email account on the iPhone is a legitimate solution. I get plenty of emails with large attachments (CAD files, renderings and the like). While it might be a work-around to overcome what is clearly a bug in the OS. Deleting and recreating email accounts on the iPhone is obviously therefore not a very convenient or useful solution to this.
Earlier versions of the iPhone OS had similar issues with emails, even with much smaller file attachments. So somewhere along the release cycle, same or similar bug was introduced. Looking through the numerous posts on the discussion board I did not find a similar problem posted. Therefore felt it necessary to relegate this to something in search of a fix, temporary workaround notwithstanding.
It is also clear that OS4.1 has introduced some problems in 3GS performance, as the phone just goes "stupid" from time to time doing the most mundane things.
Take a deep breath and don't be so quick to criticize people, especially when there's plenty of legitimate reasons for getting your hackles up.

IOS Update t/ 6.0.1 crashed phone sound?!?!?!

Ok so I had been putting off updating my phone for a bit. But this afternoon I updated to iOS 6.0.1 on a Verizon iPhone 4. It starts back up and everything is great. Until I get a phone call. My upper speaker used for the PHONE portion of the iPHONE no longer works. I have read several forums where Apple Geniuses simply said that the speaker had failed and it needed to be replaced. I refuse to take this kind of cutrate BS service. I got off the phone immediately before I updated and it was working fine. I also have a coworker who had the same problem. So is there anything else I can try to fix besides restore and hard reboot? Hopefully it is something simple that I have overlooked or missed. I would rather feel like an idiot on a free fix than like a rape victim lol because Apple chose to sell a product with inferior quality internals that arent upgradable and want to pass the savings right on along to all of us. Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Adding my voice and expanding the conversation a bit.
I have an iPhone 4S, model MC923LL with 32GB storage. I was experiencing very fast battery draining, so I updated the OS to 6.0.1 (10A523).
Here are the symptoms I am experiencing:
Frequent application crashes
Messaging
Settings
Facebook
Camera
Navigation applications
Games
Delay in responding to inputWhile messaging, I type, see the keys highlight, but it takes a few moments to see the text in the box
Physical Heat
The phone is often HOT.
I address this by shutting down applications that have remained resident (double click the home button, then press and hold on an application to make it wiggle, then delete it)
All of this; the symptoms described by John and those I experience seem clearly linked to the upgrade.
I am going to back up my phone, copy my photos and then do restore to see if this addresses the issue.

5800 after software update. Phone black screen and...

I use nokia Ovi software to update my 5800 after update when i turn on my phone it keep vibrating none stop, the screen is black. When i call your customer care they advice me to call the local care centre and they are charging me $50 for the checking and repairing. My question is why am i paying for the repair when i am using the updates provided by Nokia that corrupted my phone.
