5D MkIII: ISO Settings when on Manual Exposure Settings
Hi all
I would like to know your opinion about the following issue:
In the viewfinder you see the set ISO value. This value can be altered without having to take the camera off the eye when your individual settings are accordingly: Press SET button and turn the main dial.
This is a very valuable setting as it makes it easy to have control over the ISO settings as well as over the Aperture and Time.
Now unfortunately it is not possible to turn the ISO value back to "Automatic". For this you have to take the Camera off the eye and go into the menu to change that value. This should be changed.
What is your opinion about this?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Hi. I'm having trouble with noise at high ISO settings with 5D Mark III.
I've only recently starting using this camera and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The high ISO NR is set on high but I'm still seeing noise above ISO 1000. Am I perhaps just not focusing correctly. I had a daytime shoot today, but we were in low light areas at times and I cranked up the ISO but when I processed I had to do NR in LR which only slightly remedied the problem. Please advise. I noticed on the forum that there was a firmware upgrade. I bought the camera in December do I have to do an upgrade as well?
Yeah, with older versions of LR and PS I would specially convert high ISO RAW files using DPP, instead of my usual process with Lightroom and Photoshop. But now I've seen a big improvement in NR with the later versions of Adobe products... Lightroom 3 and later Photoshop CS5 and later. Now using LR4 and CS6, I rarely see need to use Canon DPP.
But I also use Noiseware Pro at times, with particularly high ISO shots. It can be used as a stand-alone or as a Photoshop plug-in. (I do the latter.)
If shooting JPEGs, make sure your in-camera NR settings are correct. All digital images start out as RAW files.... when you set the camera to produce JPEGs instead, you are simply doing the RAW conversion in-camera and all the "extra" data is thrown away in the process.
The key thing in any case is to avoid underexposure at all costs.
In order to minimize noise at all levels, you do not want to be increasing (pushing) exposure at all during post-processing. In fact, it's often better to be pulling or reducing exposure a bit. I know folks who regularly over-expose +1/3 or even +2/3 stop at higher ISOs... sometimes even more depending upon the situation. They get really good results.
Canon's metering seems to still follow the old rule of slight underexposure that was useful with slide/transparency film. You had to be very careful to prevent over-exposure with slide film, because the highlights in transparencies are a lack any "data"... the final image on the film is nearly or completely clear in those areas.... while shadow areas have a wealth of "data".
With digital files, it's just the opposite. Shadows are an absence of data, while highlights are a preponderence of it. So you are a lot better off over-exposing slightly... In other words, with digital files highlights are more "recoverable" than shadows. Just don't do too much, as it's still possible to "blow out" highlights to the point that fine detail is unrecoverably lost.
I also agree that one of the mistakes people make is viewing their images too large on their computer monitor. If you are looking at an image "100%", that's the same as viewing a 5 foot wide print from 18" away (assuming that your computer monitor is a typical modern one and is set to it's native resolution). Unless you are planning on making a 40x60" print, and even then since you will likely be viewing it from a much greater distance, back off to 50% or less when evaluating your images (feel free to zoom in when retouching, just don't expect miracles).
The best way to evaluate your images is with a print, anyway. You'll be stunned at the dynamic range, additioanl fine detail and overall quality of an image, once it's printed. It is nearly always far and away better than what you see on your computer monitor. When printing use a high quality printer and smooth, matte paper, for the the most critical evaluation . If your printer isn't able to print large enough, crop out a section of the image. Glossy and lustre/semi-gloss papers actually hide a lot of fine detail.

Canon 5D3 Feature Request / Wish -- Manual exposure auto shutter speed toggle
I've been using Canon gear the last six years & I don't know if this is currently possible in any camera body. If not, I believe it would prove highly helpful for working professionals.
When working in time-sensitive situations, I find myself frequently forced to use Av mode when I would prefer to remain in Manual exposure. Additionally, I find myself slowed down within Manual exposure mode when moving between inddor and outdoor light and/or other situations of dramatic ambient light fluctuation.
My wish would be for a menu assignment function for the "multi-function" button (next to the shutter release). Pressing the button while in M exposure mode would then set the shutter speed (like in Av mode--and another option could emulate Tv mode), and releasing the button would resume normal M exposure mode usage.
Personally, this is my biggest wish for the 5D3, and I would LOVE to see it implemented. (My second wish would be for the flash exposure lock to set the exposure of Flashes which are otherwise set to manual flash exposure, but that's another story).

Sometimes a contact appears to be 'lost' on my i-phone4s, but when I manually dial the number the information is visible, however, not on my contact list. I am running iOS6.0.1. Anyone else have this issue?
Yes, but the limit is 25,000.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing. -
When I enable imatch on my iPhone 4s it takes approximately 30 minutes before other data fills 13.2gb of usable data on the phone. This problem does not occur when I manually sync music to my phone only when I access imatch. Is this a common bug, and if so; is there a fix?
yes it is. you can sign out of itunes account then sign back in. use http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1311 to sign out.

Enqueue works fine Dequeue works when run manually but not via Notification

My Enqueue works fine. My Dequeue procedure works fine when run manually. But when I register a notification the procedure is not called.

Here is a difficult one. I need to update the correspondance history when posting manually certain types of documents via FPE1. I was told to use business event 723 - Correspondence : Free --> Create (tcode FQEVENTS) that is one of the events for Document. I thought that by creating and activating my customer function module Z_FKK_SAMPLE_0723 it should be enough, placing my own code there. But I can see that when I post a document via FPE1 this event is never triggered, even though now is activated. Am I missing something??
After a lot of debugging I found out that event 1118 is called instead (one of the events called among others).

And that this event (FKK_SAMPLE_1118) is empty so you can write your own code there. But I don't know how risky this is.
Please I need some advice with this issue. My two questions are:
- 1) why event 723 is not triggered when I do I manual post?? What do I have to do to trigger it?
- 2) My plan B is to force the call to event 723 from event 1118, which I for sure know that is triggered. Anybody can see any problem in this?
Anybody has been in a similar situation making a new event in FQEVENTS?

Thanks for that. YES! That may be to update text in document. But while uploading invoices I will not have document number details, it will be created when we process batch which been created using rfbibl00. How can I capture document numbers after processing batch session? Because with document number details I will able to use SAVE_TEXT to update remaining text fields. So can you please suggest best way to do this if you can? Many thanks.

SQL Procedure working when run manually, not running from sql server agent
I have a procedure that runs fine using the execute command in SSMS, however putting the same command in a job gives the following error.
line 9, character 9, unexpected end of input
The code takes a very long XML string in UTF-8 encoding and puts it into a single nvarchar(max) cell. Then puts this string into a XML cell in a different table, allowing me to query the individual parts of the XML code using the nodes function. I cannot put
the data directly into a nvarchar cell due to encoding differences.
I can't reproduce the string here as it is very very long.
I'm just looking for ideas really as to where it might be going wrong.
Here is what I know so far:
The procedure runs without issue when executed manually
I have checked permission issues, and that doesn't seem to be the problem. The agent runs under my own account and I am a sysadmin on the database
I split the procedure into seperate parts to locate exactly where the problem is occuring. Once again the seperate procedures run fine when executed manually but an error occurs when run through SQL Server agent.
When the query is run seperately through SQL Server Agent it gives a slightly different error. This leads me to believe it is an encoding issue. However I am getting the XML from a webpage and I can't change the encoding on the webpage.

This action is initially displayed in a workflow step as Set workflow status to Canceled. Use this action to set the status of the workflow. The default options are Canceled, Approved, and Rejected.
You can enter a new status value in the dropdown in the action. Once you enter a status value, the entry is automatically added to the dropdown list. For example, you can enter a status that is more user-friendly and informative than Completed or Canceled,
such as Expense Report Approved.
NOTES
You cannot rename or delete a status value once it has been created. However, you do not have to use it.
A custom status is applicable to the current workflow only, and cannot be used in another workflow.
A workflow cannot use custom status values that you define in the action if the action is used inside an impersonation step.
If the Set Workflow Status action is the last step in your workflow where you have also used a custom value, you can see your custom value in the Status column in
the list upon workflow pausing or completion.

Ipw3945 only working when modprobing manually / not on startup
The last kernel update broke my wireless.
When booting, the ipw3945d daemon will tell me "ERROR: Could not find Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection". After it finishes booting, I can rmmod the ipw3945 module and modprobe it again. Starting the daemon after that works flawlessly. Even if I try to start the daemon manually after the booting sequence, I'll get that error. I first need to rmod and modprobe ipw3945 for it to work. So...:

Are you sure it's driver-related? I have never heard anyone complain about deassociating wireless networks unless they were using networkmanager or wicd or something like that. In the various threads about netcfg2 I have never seen anyone with this problem.

I don't know if it's driver-related, but it could be power-related: iwl3945 isn't able to retrieve my ap essid everytime, since on the other hand ipw3945 is able to do, with the laptop in the SAME position.

I plugged my usb cable connected with my iphone 4 to the computer, and then it shows up as Iphone, but there is no button to sync, and when i manually drag the files into the storage it would say "Device is no longer responding" and it just would not work... Please help me and quick

Does the Z1 have manual exposure adjustment when recording videos?
Looked all over the internet but can't find an answer to this question. When recording videos with the Z1, is it possible to manually increase the exposure by way of a slider (usually a range of -2 to +2)? I know there's an option to choose spot/centre weighted etc, but can this variable by set in advance with a slider? I film a lot of indoor videos that often end up completely underexposed when left in auto mode, therefore manual override is a must for me.
If not, does anyone know of any third party camera apps that add this functionality?

Go to Solution.On mine, running Android 4.4.2, before recording I can do it using the row of icons on the left. Make sure 'SCN' in the top left corner ('scene', in other words) is set to 'off'. This is like selecting 'manual' rather than one of the automatic, scene dependant, modes and it opens up the use of the next settings icon below it, the one that looks like 3 sliders, which would otherwise be 'greyed out'. So now that it's white you can tap it, go in, and manually select your 'white balance' setting (I use 'auto') and also the slider that you mentioned that goes from +2 to - 2. The slider in this case is labelled as 'EV'. Did this help?
