620 restarts spontaneously.
My 620 restarts spontaneously every two to three hours 24/7. Sometimes it does not restart and freezes on the NOKIA page. Only removing the battery solves the issue. The spontaneous restarts every few hours then start again. What is causing this please?
hi mate,
not sure, have you tried performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates)? also check that you are fully up to date with the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store. failing that, you may need to perform a hard reset (Settings > About > Reset your phone), and if that doesnt' work, then you need to take your phone to Nokia Care for inspection: http://nokia.com/support

Cisco CM services restart spontaneously
Hi All,
Please can anyone advise what can be the cause the Cisco CallManager services restart spontaneously?
We are running cucm version 7.0.2. Yesterday we noticed the Cisco CallManager services stopped on the puplisher, so we restarted the services. Since that time the services restarted several times spontaneously. We also have one a subscriber in the claster which is working fine.
Any ideas?
Many thanks
MarianHi Mateusz,
Thanks for suggestion. I have run the command and it looks very much like this bug
"CSCte50152 : Memory leak in CCM due to Transient SIP Connections"
However, I don't see the line "operate new" which results in memory leak as suggested in "Trouble shooting core dump " section of CISCO FORUM.
Could you please have a look at this backtrace and further advise ? Thanks in advance.

Macbook Pro Restarts spontaneously.
Hello,
A few weeks back i installed an SSD Disk (Samsung EVO 250 GB) in my mac pro and transfered everything with
carbon copy cloner, that went well and also works perfectly.
After a while my macbook pro restarts spontaniously, and this happens more and more.
So after an few topic's, and tens of solution's i decided to install Mavericks again, so i transfered
all my important files to an external hdd and installed again true the recovery partition (cmd-r).
Yesterday, 1 day after clean-install, the macbook restarts again spontaneously... At this moment
the only installed thing was mavericks, no programs or drivers !!
So, who can help me ? I can give you the error-reports from the last 4 re-starts, maybe that someone
on this forum can tell how this is possible ? Can it bee the SSD disk ?
The error log's:

com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireFamily 4.5.5You have the MacBookPro6,2, the Edsel of Macs. It may have a logic-board defect covered by this recall.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider, to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers do not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue that Apple calls "VST" (for "Video Switching Test.") Ask for it. A "Failed" result means that the fault is present. However, according to reports, some units may pass the test, and yet still be deemed eligible for repair under the program. Your experience may vary.
Print the first page of the panic report, if any, and the support page linked above, and bring them with you.
Note that the recall only applies within three years of purchase. After that, Apple may refuse the service. In that case, you may be quoted a price of about $300 (in the U.S.) for a "depot repair," which involves shipping the unit to a central repair facility and takes about two weeks. For that flat fee, anything found wrong with it should be fixed, not just the logic board.
The model was discontinued on February 24, 2011, so the replacement program has almost ended. Some units may have been sold after that date by Apple as refurbished, or by resellers as new, and they should still be covered.
Some owners report that their unit was repaired under the program after the deadline had passed. Others report that the repair was covered by the extended warranty from a credit-card issuer. Again, your experience may vary.
Sometimes the replacement part is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility.
If it's too late for your unit to be repaired under the program, and you don't want to pay for a new logic board, you may be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching.
If you're dissatisfied with Apple's response, please keep in mind that no one here represents the company or can help with customer-service issues.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -
Mac Pro restarting spontaneously
Within a few minutes of starting the Mac Pro up it shut it self down and restarted. It's done this before but some times restarts by itself a couple of times before settling. A previous time it restated but with the fans flat out.
This restarting problem can occur days or weeks apart with it switched on every day and other than that the computer performs faultlessly and starts normally.
I've done a SMC and PRAM reset and it went for over a week without any problems before this started again.
Anything else I can try before contacting Apple because as it happens so infrequently it going to be hard for them to fault. Thanks for the reply.
I've tried that and have nothing other than the mouse and keyboard connected currently. Still does the restarting mostly within 10-15 minutes of switching on. Only does this sometimes usually days or a week mor more apart. The rest of the time it starts normally and runs normally.
Also tried these:
Resetting SMC and PRAM.
Ran hardware test from the install disc
Ran Hardware test from Techtool Deluxe that came with Applecare.
In Disc Utility ran verify disc verify permissions and repair disc permissions.
Did a clean install of Leopard and installed all updated.
None of these have helped or found anything.
Time to see Apple I think. Still have AppleCare until Feb. -

Naresh> Have you guys tried an OS restart?
OS restarts should not be necessary to solve application problems. Even if it keeps running after that, you then know what the problem was and how to avoid it in the future?
The problem is, that the Java engine gets an internal stack overflow and therefore crashing while removing old HTTP sessions. It's not related to any operating system specific issues.
6.20 is very old and out of support; I'd though open an OSS call and ask the support if they have a solution for that.

My imac restarts spontaneously--not while in use.
My imac has been restarting while I'm away from it, as if instead of going to sleep it just does the restart. Nothing much has changed in terms of usage, i.e. no new software, etc. Any ideas?
Try resetting SMC (System Management Controller)
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
and PRAM (Parameter RAM)
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379 -
Yosemite version 10.10.1 (14B25)
Wifi non-stop issue
Magic mouse disconnects a few times a day
And worst of all, the OS will stop responding and will restart for no reason. nothing to report, no error messages. nada.
Lost hours of work. Prefer my 2007 Macbook with leopard then this MBP retina super super expensive paper-weight.Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless -
C2-03 operating system restarts spontanously
After only one week since i bought this device, i find the phone rebooting (crashing?) twice yesterday. In standby after having used bluetooth for a while, the screen blanks, gets black and the system reboots. What is that? The device is powered by 6.96 and there is no update available for my region (Germany /Sweden) yet. Bluetooth was deactivated after finishing the transfer quite a while before the crashes happened.

Flaky MacBook -- spontaneous restarts
Folks:
My MacBook has been operating fine since November 2006. But recently it has started to restart spontaneously, intermittently.
This does not seem to be related to the application I'm using or the time it has been operating.
Tonight, about 3 hours of operation, the machine started restarting continuously when I was typing in MS Word. It would start up but not get very far --about 5 seconds-- into the boot sequence. After about 5 end-to-end restarts, I held down the power button until it stopped. Then I hit the power button. The machine started normally. I tried going back to Word; the document opened, I typed about 10 characters, but the system froze at that point.
A few days ago, I opened it up and right away I tried to run PhotoBooth and it restarted once -- and I gave up for the night.
Suggestions?
TIA,
HenryI was just trying to take some photos with Photo Booth -- no power attached. I barely got things set up, I experimented with a few effects, then asked for a photo. The MacBook crashed. Repeat. Crash. This time along the right-hand side of the screen there was a set of moving black bars and the machine hung rather than restarting. Repeat. This time the machine continued restarting about every 10 seconds until I held down the power button. I tried connecting the power adapter. Repeat. Crash.
Just for grins, I exchanged in the fully-charged battery from a new MacBook (about a month old, not intensively used). When I booted up the system, it got a few seconds into the sequence and rebooted. Then I went ahead with more Photo Booth fun. It is difficult to say for certain, but as long as I was able to play with the system after that --about 15 minutes-- it operated correctly. At the instant I decided to swap batteries back --while i was still playing in Photo Booth -- it crashed, restarted, got about 5 seconds into the sequence, then restarted again, repeated, then successfully rebooted.
So: Changing the battery seemed to effect this problem, but the symptoms are so random, it is really difficult to tell what's going on.

Application . . . cancelled restart
I'm getting this error message when I try to restart the computer: "The application Install in Progress cancelled restart." An update to an App called "Mint Quickview" has not completed successfully, and this seems to be the install that is "in progress". I have tried (a) force quitting Install in Progress; it restarts spontaneously before I can do anything else. (b) stoping Install in Progress using Activity Monitor; it restarts the same way. (c) Deleting Mint Quickview by moving it to the trash; the file deletion hangs without completing, just like the "Install in Progress". I am no longer able to use a deletion program since Mint Quickview is no longer listed on my hard disk. I am also unable to restart the computer. Help would be appreciated.

I've been all over the internet trying to sort out the recent misbehavior of my G5 iMac.
It restarts spontaneously, very frequently. I installed Showoff and found that the longest uptime in the past 4 days is four hours. Usually it is less than one hour. I ran the hardware test and everything tested OK. I updated my OS, removed all peripherals, moved it to a different electrical circuit. Nothing helps.
It's still under warranty, so it goes to the Apple Store in a couple of days.
Could this problem be due to the power supply, which isn't tested under the hardware test? What else can I try? Has anyone had this problem and fixed it themselves?
I've had about half a dozen Macs in the past 15 years, and this is the first one that needed repair.
Thanks a lot in advance.
20 iMac G5, iMac G4, iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)Hello again Rod:
I am pleased that everything was repaired - and under warranty as well. When I read your original post, I felt that letting Apple take care of the problem(s) was the best course.

Mac Pro 2012 crashes regularly after loading Mavericks
I upgraded the OS to Mavericks, direct from Lion, on my Mac Pro 2012 computer, since when it crashes and restarts spontaneously. Herewith the reports. Can anyone offer a straightforward solution? There is no sign of Google inspired crashes, as with other users. Is Mavericks named to draw attention to its spontaneous behaviour??

Security issues related to widgets
I have experienced some very strange phenomena after installing a few widgets (laptop restarts spontaneously, huge hard drive inexplicably fills up). Although the widgets might not be responsible for all this I'd like to get rid of them.
Is there a way to uninstall widgets? Would removing the widgets in question guarantee that whatever they've installed—if anything—would be removed?Since X doesn't have your passphrase, it can't put it into any core dumps. About the only private data X has inside it that I can think of it the xauth key, but that changes every time you restart X, so it's already expired anyway.
You can always try running "strings" on the core dump and looking for anything bad. -
New Macbook spontaneous restart
Hi all, I have a month old Macbook pro that has been spontaneously restarting with an error. It doesn't matter what I am doing on it; it will restart at any point in time randomly. I took it to the genius bar and they said the only restart they found was for software updates. In order to diagnose, they would need to keep it for a few days ( My job is all computer based, going to be difficult without a computer for a few days). I took it back home to see if the problem stopped- It stopped for a week, then yesterday I had three restarts. I am wondering if my issue is related to anything I have plugged in. I have a blue tooth mouse, a usb keyboard, and a second screen. I have tried the energy saver default restoration, no luck. Below are two error logs. Any thoughts before I have to leave it at the store?

Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed. -
Why does my MacBook spontaneously crash/restart?
My MacBook is suddenly restarting for no apparent reason. What follows is a detailed description of the issue and surrounding circumstances, various elements of which may or may not be relevant.
Several months ago I noticed my trackpad button had stopped clicking reliably. About two months ago I realized that the replacement laptop battery I was using (purchased on Amazon as genuine Apple product, but probably not really made by Apple) had begun to swell just enough to press up from the underside of the trackpad and prevent it from functioning properly. I removed the battery and have been using the machine with AC power so that the trackpad will work right. I intend to replace the battery with a new one directly from Apple, but given the cost I would like to make sure I can resolve my other issues first. I have included the above because it was roughly around the time I began using my MacBook without a battery that the symptoms below began. Using the computer without a battery may or may not be related these issues, but it is the only thing I can think of that changed anywhere near when the problems began.
Around this time, the backlight on the built-in display began to regularly (1-5 times per hour of use) shut itself off. The LCD stays on and can still be seen faintly in ambient light, but the backlight turns itself off as if I had turned the brightness all the way down using the F1 key. The brightness control itself seems to stay up, however, as the temporary fix I was able to find by researching the issue online is to turn the brightness all the way down (using the F1 key) and then back up again (using F2) and display brightness rises with my pressing the F2 display-brighter button. This would last anywhere from 1-1000 minutes (approximate) of use before shutting off (backlight) again and I would have to do the same thing. The length of time until the next shutoff seems to be shorter the brighter I have the display brightness set, but the symptom comes and goes in fits and spurts. Sometimes I can't keep it on more than 15 seconds and I just give up and drag whatever windows I'm working on to my external monitor (which functions fine throughout - I use the external and built-in displays side-by-side with a mini-DVI to DVI adapter), but other times it will go for a week just fine. This may or may not be related to my more serious issue below, but it began just in advance of the below and has continued to the present.
About the same time I stopped using the battery and started experiencing display backlight shutoffs, my computer began spontaneously crashing and restarting itself. The first time it happened I was attempting to play a video (MP4 I think) from the hard drive in QuickTime Player. The video played for a few minutes, and then my computer crashed and began to restart itself. I let it restart and tried playing the video several more times, even using VLC instead of QuickTime as the player, but each time the computer would play a few seconds to a few minutes before dying and restarting. In the hours and days that followed, the machine would randomly restart every 1-100 (approximately) minutes of use. The shutdowns seemed more likely to occur when attempting to play video of any format, local or online, and for a while I couldn't even play a YouTube vid without the computer shutting down. Sometimes the machine would restart to my login screen, but then if I logged in right away it would begin the login process but then die and restart again. If I waited a while before logging in it seemed to "calm down" and would login successfully. The restarts were more likely during video playback, but not exclusive to this task.
I noticed that the restarts seemed to especially come in "clumps," and that allowing the machine a rest seemed to help. I also noticed that the fan frequently (but not always) sounded like it was running at full power at the time of restart. I concluded that the restarts were likely the result of overheating. I disassembled the machine in order to clean out the fan and heat sink. I didn't find much lint / blockage, but I thoroughly cleaned out what was there and did a cursory look around the internals for anything that might appear to be out of order, but I didn't find anything remarkable. The restarts continued, together with high fan speeds just before, so I downloaded iStat Pro to monitor internal temperatures in my status bar. I watched temps pretty closely, especially when I heard the fan, but the highest I ever saw was 80 degrees celsius on the CPU die. I don't know a lot about CPU temperature ranges, but from some cursory research it looks like that is way below the cutoff for an automatic shutdown (and besides, it seems like it should shutdown rather than restart for overheating). I watched to see if the restarts happened at the same temperature every time, but they varied widely, sometimes even occurring below 65 C, with or without high fan noise.
The issue persisted and was becoming a real problem for me, and I already had a HDD I was planning to upgrade to, so I decided to do the HDD swap and follow with a clean install of OSX (via download from Apple) rather than migrate from my old drive because I figured that would take care of any software issues. After I swapped out the HDD and did a clean install it was three days or so until the display backlight cut out as before, and about a week before the first sudden restart, which brings us to the present. Since that first restart, I've seen another 6 or so in the last 4 hours. I have also noticed an occasional failure to get past the grey screen on an intentional shutdown (not the sudden restarts) since replacing the HDD and reinstalling OSX, but that only happens on occasion. The only things I have installed since replacing the HDD other than the OS are MS Office for Mac 2011 (from CD) and then Flash and Silverlight plug-ins for Safari. I've also transferred over some files from my old HDD using a USB caddy and have opened some documents, but I haven't run any applications or installers besides the aforementioned. I haven't been able to transfer everything from the old HDD though, because the old drive (in a USB caddy) drive seems to spontaneously unmount, giving me the "the disk was not ejected properly" message and causing Finder to freeze up with a spinwheel of death and not recover after relaunching finder in the Force Quit dialog. This seems to lead to the manual shutdown stalling on the grey screen as well (when means I have to use the button to force full shutdown). This could just be a problem with my caddy though.
Here is what I have tried, in total:
- Restarted the machine
- Disassembled laptop and cleaned out the fan / heat sink
- Watched temperatures (no apparent correlation)
- Replaced HDD and reinstalled OSX from scratch (by download from Apple)
- Ran Apple Hardware Test (no problems found)
- Software Update ("your software is up to date")
- Checked for System Diagnostic Reports in Console following spontaneous restarts, found none present
- Reset NVRAM / PRAM
- Reset SMC
Those last two resets I did just prior to posting and so far I haven't seen the crash/restart, although I have seen the dead backlight. It hasn't been long though so we'll see. . .

One final note - when the system spontaneously restarts, it doesn't properly shutdown as it would if I initiated a restart, it just suddenly dies, black screen, and then I hear the startup tone and it begins to restart.
Obviously this is an older machine and I've gotten a lot of good use out of it, but I still need it and don't have the budget right now to replace it so any help you can offer would be much appreciated. I'm pretty much stymied.
Please let me know if anything is missing / unclear!
