64-bit messaging server and 32-bit libamsdk

While restarting the services and researching the mshttpd log file (/var/opt/SUNWmsgsr/messaging64/log/http) due to another problem, I found these log lines:
[02/Oct/2008:12:36:53 +0400] sunmail httpd[26768]: General Warning: Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server mshttpd 6.3-6.03 (built Mar 14 2008; 64bit) shutting down

What concerned me was the report about libamsdk. I found a few of these in our system:
[root@sunmail /]# ls -la `find /opt | grep libamsdk`

It seems that we only have the 32-bit version; I guess it can't be linked by a 64-bit executable (and it would have to be stored in an amd64/ subdirectory).
Is this anyhow worth noticing? AM SSO via Sun Webserver agents works anyway :)
As before, we're using Messaging server 6.3 x64 and Access Manager 7.1, latest patches:

    Venkat,
    I don't think so its a problem. I have installed both client and Server on the same machine. I did for both BO as well as DS and neither created any problems.

  • Essbase Excel Addin on 64 Bit Windows 7 and 64 bit Office 2010

    Hi Everyone,
    I have installed 11.1.2.2 on server with Essbase and Shared Services.
    Now, on the client I have 64 bit Windows 7 and 64 bit office 2010.
    I tried installing Excel Addin client only (without Essbase client) and restarted machine after install.
    After install Addin didnt come up automatically and i tried to manually set the add-in, I'm getting an error "This is not a valid add-in"
    Is it because i am using 64 bit of office and have to go back to 32 bit.
    Isnt 64 bit supported for latest 11.1.2.2 Essbase ?
    Any ideas or experience in this regard will be helpful to me as our company is going for Windows 7 and Office 2010 across the business users and if 64 bit Office is not supported or has issues i would have to suggest them to go with 32 bit Office 2010.
    Thank you.

    for 64 bit i guess its not avaiable for 2010 excel

  • Configure messaging server and MTA on different machine

    Is there anyways to install / configure messaging server and MTA on different machine? I am using Sun One Messaging server 6.0
    Thanks
    Haris

    Thanks for the reply, How MTA can be disabled on the
    messaging server? how can i disable the store on the
    MTA machine, Is there any documentation for it?Yes, the documentation helps you. You cannot totally disable the MTA. If you did, how would you get mail to the store?
    Also
    is it possible to use some another machine for
    webmail?Well, um, kind of. The webmail interface provided with Messaging Server interacts directly with the store, so you can't truly run that remotely, but .. .
    You can install the server on a remote box, and turn on "Messaging Express Multiplexor", a proxy for webmail. Users can then connect to the MEM box, and be forwarded to the store for their mails.
    It should be possible to use a third-party webmail product that uses something like IMAP to talk to the store, too. that would be unsupported, but possible. Most users find MEM to be very good.
    What problem are you trying to solve? Perhaps I can better help you if I know why you're asking these questions, and offer a better solution to you.

    Thanks

  • Messaging server with 2048 bit key

    I am in the process of renewing my SSL certificates and a change requires the use of 2048 bit keys.
    Is there a way using msgcert to specify key length?
    It looks like certutil will allow a different key length. If I use certutil to create the database, will the message server work with a longer key?
    I am using SSL for POP/IMAP proxy and SMTP on Messaging Server 6.3.

  • Windows 2008 64-bit SQL Server 2008 64-bit Linked Server fails - ODBC connects but has issues

    Installed the 64 but Oracle 11g client and Oracle ODAC.
    From SQL Server Management Studio run script :  exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell 'PING OracleHostNameHere'        Ping was successful
    OraOLEDB.Oracle shows up in the Provider list.  Run This Script:
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_MSset_oledb_prop N'OraOLEDB.Oracle', N'AllowInProcess', 1
    GO
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_MSset_oledb_prop N'OraOLEDB.Oracle', N'DynamicParameters', 1
    GO
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedserver @server = N'Nav14', @srvproduct=N'Oracle', @provider=N'OraOLEDB.Oracle', @datasrc=N'TheOracleHostName'
    EXEC master.dbo.sp_addlinkedsrvlogin @rmtsrvname=N'TheOracleHostName',@useself=N'False',@locallogin=NULL,@rmtuser=N'TheUser',@rmtpassword='ThePassWord'
    Msg 15015, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_addlinkedsrvlogin, Line 49     The server 'TheHostName' does not exist. Use sp_helpserver to show available servers.
    Did the same process on a Windows 7 32 bit Enterprise - ODBC Works after installing ODAC
    ODBC worked, shows list of Oracle servers - picked the server - ODBC successful - MS Access able to use that ODBC service.
    In Windows 2008 64 bit installed both Oracle 11g Client and 64 bit ODAC - ODBC opens, the list of oracle servers doesn't populate, hard code in the host name - ODBC reports Success.
    Another Person Suggested:  Win7 64-bit with Oracle 11g. Oddly enough, it ran differently when I opened a command prompt window as administrator and ran setup.exe with the suggested command-line options:
    setup.exe -debug -printtime -printmemory -printdiskusage -logLevel finest
    While it had previously been failed both by running setup from the Explorer windows as administrator and by running it from the command line as administrator - it died every time at the same point mentioned by others in this thread - just after this message appeared in the log:
    Get view named [SummaryUI]
    ( I have tried re installing with no success)

    Windows 7 Enterprise 32-Bit
    Installed the version 12 for 32 bit ODAC and it worked. The key is to Install as Administrator once it is unzipped.
    Was able to set up Listener then
    Was able to set up ODBC using the ODAC. Connect MS Access 2010 to the Oracle views.
    Then, tried to install the 64 Bit onto Windows 2008 Server.
    It locked up during installation both times.
    Installed ODAC without an error.
    However, the ODBC setup will not provide a list of the servers in the ODBC  TNS Service Name listbox for Server 2008.
    In Windows 7, it populates the TNS Service Name.
    The list box in Windows 2008 is empty.
    Do you know what would cause that?
    The .ORA file scrips look the same on Windows 2008 as they do on Windows 7 except it does not have the (server = Dedicated) argument.
    Thanks.

  • Oracle 10g 64-bit (Microsoft Server 2003 64-bit) showing as 32-bit

    Hi there,
    This is my first post so go easy with me!
    I have built a Oracle 10g 64-bit Standard Edition DB (10.2.0.1) on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 64-bit Standard edition, all is fine, except when I go in to the Host configuration through OEM it seems to think the host system is 32-bit Server 2003 (Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Server 5.2 Service Pack 2 (32-bit)) when it most definietely isn't.
    The problem that this seems to cause is that it says the memory size is 4092MB, rather than the 16Gb that is present on the Server, meaning that the Performance Analysis alerts shows "Significant virtual memory paging was detected on the host operating system."
    The PROCESSOR_IDENTIFIER correctly states it has a System Environment EM64T Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 8, GenuineIntel (2 x physical dual-core Xeon processors).
    Exiting out through sqlplus shows "Disconnected from Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production" so it definitely is the correct version!
    I can't see any problems anywhere, I am going to install the latest service pack for Oracle (The operating system is patched up and upto date) to see if this makes any difference, but as this is a standard straight forward install I'm now very confused, and thought I would ask here incase anyone else has had this problem, or anyone has any ideas!?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robbie

    Hi,
    Sorry for not getting back sooner with a reply!
    Since the 10.2.0.3 patch, our Oracle usage is now up at 8gb so doesn't sound like we are having the same problem as yourself, although we are getting the same message "Significant virtual memory paging was detected on the host operating system." like yourself but with no recommendations, although I can't see what the problem is now causing this, and doesn't appear to be causing any actual problems. Are you still having your 4gb limitation problem?
    Does anyone else have this problem with Oracle 10.2.0.3 64-bit on Windows Server 2003 64-bit platforms? I'm waiting for someone to say 10.2.0.4 will fix this!
    Thanks,
    Robbie

  • Moving installation from XP (32 bit) to Server 2008 (64 bit)

    Hi,
    we have sucessfully installed Oracle Entity Framework (using ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio) on our developer machines (Windows XP 32 bit).
    However, after having installed the framework on a server already running Oracle 11 (Windows server 2008 64 bit) using the client install (using ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1)), the following error occur after trying a simple console application with the Oracle Entity Framework bindings:
    "Unhandled Exception: System.ArgumentException: The specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is
    not valid. ---> System.ArgumentException: Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be ins
    alled. at System.Data.EntityClient.EntityConnection.GetFactory(String providerString)"
    The application is compiled with Any CPU build, and .NET 4.0 is installed on this server. Running a "vanilla" WPF application is no problem, so ther must be something the EF is missing.
    Anyone got an idea what might be missing on the server (I'm thinking maybe registry keys, paths, DLL's etc).
    Regards,
    Rolf C Stadheim

    I am struggling with this exact problem. I can't figure out how the 64 bit xcopy deployment solves the EF 2008 issue. What are the steps? Install the entity framework first with the OUI then install the 64 bit providers over that? Or a separate oracle home? Any advice?
    EDIT: I was able to get the beta framework to work by
    1) configuring the app pool to allow 32 bit applications. I did not use the 64 bit xcopy install. Just the Beta OUI. Here's a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/9uRxi.png
    2) Copy over the relevant 32 bit provider assembly and install it in the GAC by hand:
    c:\oracle\11.2.0\ASP.NET\bin\4>OraProvCfg /action:gac /providerpath:\oracle\11.2.0\ASP.NET\bin\4\Oracle.Web.dll >> install.log

  • Little bit of thread and little bit of instant messenger design problem

    OK! i have a small problem here, i am planning on making a instant messenger server and client, not compatible with any out there(as of yet) and not using any stansard protocols out there, just something i made on my own. ok now the problem i am trying to figure out is....i have a "Messaging Server" as the name suggests it sends messages from one client to the other, how it is setup is, client connects to this server, the server accepts and creates a new thread for this client and adds a message listener to this client handler thread. as and when the server creates this thread for the client, it puts it in a vector which is keeping track of every client connected to this server. so now when the client sends a message to another client, basically it goes through this server, the thread upon receiving this message, fires a method of the listener. this method takes the message, finds out who it is going to(therefore the userid) and seaches the threads vector to find the appropriate thread and then just creats another striped down message out of the received message and calls a method in that thread to send this newly created message and hence the message should be sent.(i am speculating, i still have not created this)
    so the problem ia m logically facing is...at what point of time who is taking the load, what i mean by that is, when the thread receives the message, ofcourse it is this thread which is working is taking the load, but when the listener fucntion is fired which thread is handlign the call is it the client handler thread which fired the method or the messaging server thread which creates these threads?? now once that is solved, who(which thread) is doing the work when i call the fucntion in the other thread which i found aftre searching the vector. i mean i am thinking like this cuz i am not much in sink with the way threads work. i am also trying to figure out this to find out the load the server or the threads will be having.
    algo example:
    class messageServer
         vector currentWorkingThreads;
         messageListener listener;
         main()
              listener = new messageListener(); //should it be here or the other place i am mentioning below
              while(true)
                   clientHandler = socket.accept();
                   listener = new messageListener(); //should it be here or the other place i am mentioning above
                   //create a thread and add this thread object to the vector
                   thread.addLisenter(listener);
    class messageServerThread
         string userid;
         messageListener lis;
         run()
              object obj = in.readObject();
              lis.sendMessage(obj);
         sendMessage(obj)
              out.writeObject(obj);
              out.flush;
    class messageListener
         sendMessage(msSendMessage msg)
              //find the appropriate user thread
              loop(currentWorkingThread.next())
                   messageServerThread msgThread = (messageServerThread)currentWorkingThread.element();
                   if(msg.userid == msgThread.userid)
                        msReceiveMessage rcvMsg = msg.strip(); //dosent matter what this does, it just strips the unwanted info and returns the type msReceiveMessage
                        msgThread.sendMessage(rcvMsg);
    and if this is something out of the line, or not a good way of doing it, can someone help me with the design it would be gr8.
    thanx a lot
    -Ankur
    help would be greatly appreciated.
    [email protected]

    other, how it is setup is, client connects to this
    server, the server accepts and creates a new thread
    for this client and adds a message listener to this
    client handler thread. as and when the server creates
    this thread for the client, it puts it in a vector
    which is keeping track of every client connected to
    this server.ok so far.
    so now when the client sends a message to
    another client, basically it goes through this server,
    the thread upon receiving this message, fires a method
    of the listener. this method takes the message, finds
    out who it is going to(therefore the userid) and
    seaches the threads vector to find the appropriate
    thread and then just creats another striped down
    message out of the received message and calls a method
    in that thread to send this newly created message andhere you seem to confuse the thread instance and the thread of execution. the thread invoking this method is still the event handling thread (i.e. the receiver thread of the socket). you do not need threads for delivering - this can be done by the receiving sockets' event handling threads. disadvantage: if processing of the message takes significant time then the socket is blocked and cannot process another message.
    solution: put the message in an event queue which is processed by one or more threads. (see my example i e-mailed you)
    robert
    hence the message should be sent.(i am speculating, i
    still have not created this)
    so the problem ia m logically facing is...at what
    point of time who is taking the load, what i mean by
    that is, when the thread receives the message,
    ofcourse it is this thread which is working is taking
    the load, but when the listener fucntion is fired
    which thread is handlign the call is it the client
    handler thread which fired the method or the messaging
    server thread which creates these threads?? now once
    that is solved, who(which thread) is doing the work
    when i call the fucntion in the other thread which i
    found aftre searching the vector. i mean i am thinking
    like this cuz i am not much in sink with the way
    threads work. i am also trying to figure out this to
    find out the load the server or the threads will be
    having.
    algo example:

  • Install 64 bit 9i Server On 64 bit AMD

    Has anyone out there installed the 64 bit 9i server on a 64 bit AMD machine. If so, where did you find the install instructions to get the installer to work?

    I installed it on Fedora Core 2, used the standard instructions, LD_ASSUME_KERNEL was important, I also use the RH AS 3.0 patch.
    I then installed it with Win 2003 Server beta 2, the problem with that is that I can't install the AS yet, so I reverted back to Win 2003 Server (32 bit)

  • Messaging Server and Calendar Server Mount points for SAN

    Hi! Jay,
    We are planning to configure "JES 05Q4" Messaging and Calendar Servers on 2 v490 Servers running Solaris 9.0, Sun Cluster, Sun Volume Manager and UFS. The Servers will be connected to the SAN (EMC Symmetrix) for storage.
    I have the following questions:
    1. What are the SAN mount points to be setup for Messaging Server?
    I was planning to have the following on SAN:
    - /opt/SUNWmsgsr
    - /var/opt/SUNWmsgsr
    - Sun Cluster (Global Devices)
    Are there any other mount points that needs to be on SAN for Messaging to be configured on Sun Cluster?
    2. What are the SAN mount points to be setup for Calendar Server?
    I was planning to have the following on SAN:
    - /opt/SUNWics5
    - /var/opt/SUNWics5
    - /etc/opt/SUNWics5
    3. What are the SAN mount points to be setup for Web Server (v 6.0) for Delegated Admin 1.2?
    - /opt/ES60 (Planned location for Web Server)
    Delegated Admin will be installed under /opt/ES60/ida12
    Directory server will be on its own cluster. Are there any other storage needs to be considered?
    Also, Is there a good document that walks through step-by-step on how to install Messaging, Calendar and Web Server on 2 node Sun Cluster.
    The installation document doesn't do a good job or atleast I am seeing a lot of gaps.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    There are basically two choices..
    a) Have local binaries in cluster nodes (e.g 2 nodes) ... which means there will be two sets of binaries, one on each node in your case.
    Then when you configure the software ..you will have to point the data directory to a cluster filesystem which may not be neccasarily global. But this filsystem should be mountable on both nodes.
    The advantage of this method is that ... during patching and similar system maintenance activities....the downtime is minimum...
    The disadvantage is that you have to maintain two sets of binaries ..i.e patch twice.
    The suggested filesystems can be e.g.
    /opt for local binaries
    /SJE/SUNWmsgr for data (used during configure option)
    This will mean installing the binaries twice...
    b) Having a single copy of binaries on clustered filesystem....
    This was the norm in iMS5.2 era ...and Sun would recommend this...though I have seen type a) also for iMs 5.2
    This means there should no configuration files in local fs. Everything related to iPlanet on clustered filesystem.
    I have not come accross type b) post SUNONE i.e 6.x .....it seems 6.x has to keep some files on the local filesystem anyway..so b) is either not possible or needs some special configuration
    so may be you should try a) ...
    The Sequence would be ..
    After the cluster framework is ready:
    1) Insall the binaries on both side
    2 ) Install agent on one side
    3) switch the filesytem resource on any node
    4) Configure the software with the clustered FS
    5) Switch the filesystem resource on the other node and useconfig of first node.
    Cheers--

  • Integrating Messaging Server and Identity Server

    I've got JES 2004Q2, and I'm trying to install the various components on different workstations to prove that a) the software works, and b) it's a viable alternative to Exchange (so please please help me get it working!)
    The problem I have is getting Messenger Server and Directory Server talking properly so that I can create users and then log in as those users. After days of frustrating searching for solutions to this problem (and also find people who have successfully done this), I decided to install the components onto one server.
    And it worked. Installing Messaging Server, Identity Server, Web Server (contained for Identity Server), Directory Server, and Admin Server all on the same box, configuring them all to use the same directory server for UG and preferences, running the various configuration tools that come with the software, and it all works together fine. Using "./commadmin domain modify .... -S mail", I get "OK". I can add users with the "-S mail" option, log in as those users, and send emails between those users. So this tells me that the software does work, albeit on one box.
    When I try to separate the services out to separate boxes, they don't seem to integrate properly. I thought that maybe the order in which you configured applications made a difference (ie. configuring Identity Server after Messenger Server means IS will pick up on the changes made to the directory by MS, and enable it). I also tried to see if using the same options directory server from different boxes helped, but nothing. I've even tried patching them using 116568-52 and 116585-10 but no luck.
    Therefore, I've found that installing all servers on one box works, but installing them on separate boxes doesn't (despite using the same directory servers). My conclusion in this is that one of two things must be the case:
    a) there's something in the install that has to be changed to reflect the fact that the services are running on different boxes
    b) the install of the services adds files to the system somewhere which other packages in JES pick up on (hence the reason why installing everything on one box works), and this isn't documented anywhere
    Unfortunately, the output of commadmin when it fails isn't that helpful (nothing against the developers, however it doesn't really help in the fault finding process). I do believe however that the problem is with Identity Server and its configuration, rather than Messaging Server.
    Here's some (possibly) useful info:

    All services have their own local options directory server.
    Can anyone give me any suggestions? If I log a support call with Sun, what is the likely resolution time? My ultimate goal is to get the whole suite running together, then install Portal server. Once that's working, download the connectors for Outlook and get it all working with Outlook. As I said at the start, we're hoping to show this is a viable alternative to Exchange (certainly for the backend) so any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Does the email recipient address change when the email is sent to gmail i.e. does an email sent to [email protected] become [email protected]?
    We've got google for domains setup, so users would retain a @domain.com address regardless if there mailbox was hosted on the internal server or hosted at google.You can make use of the mailRoutingAddress: user attribute and source routing to get the desired behaviour e.g.
    => Set the following value to the LDAP entry of the user who is hosted on the gmail server. The "[email protected]" address should match the users mail: address:
    mailRoutingAddress: @gmail.com:[email protected]=> Ensure the following option has been tcp_local channel in your imta.cnf file. This option strips off the "@gmail.com" value of the recipient address before sending the email to the gmail.com servers.
    dequeue_removerouteMake sure you run "./imsimta cnbuild;./imsimta restart" after modifying the imta.cnf file.

  • Importing Wildcard Cert into Messaging Server and Comms Express???

    Hi all, does anyone know how I can import a wildcard certificate, private key, & CA cert into Messaging Server 6.3 and Comms Express 6.3?
    We have 3 files from DigiCert that I think need to be imported:
    1) A wildcard cert from DigiCert
    2) The DigiCert CA cert
    3) The private key
    Thanks in advance,
    Stewart

    Hi, we are upgrading from iMS5.2 to SJMS6.3 later this year but in the mean time i'm trying to work out how to import the wildcard certs, key, etc from DigiCert into our current iMS5.2. I've heard it can be done.
    We're currently using a cert from Verisign in our iMS5.2 environment.

  • Problens whit Messaging Server and Symantec Scan Engine

    Hi!
    I have installed Symantec Scan Engine 5.0 to check virus in my Messaging Server, but when I try to open the administration interface of Scan Engine installed in port 8004, it appeared the messages:
    Loading Java Subprogram
    Do you want to install the subprogram distributed by Symanted? Yes
    please wait.
    Subprogram com.symantec.gui.guidelines.ScanEngine Applet started
    But the apple did not load at all.
    I have installed the right java version.
    bash-2.05# java -version
    java version "1.4.2_09"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_09-b05) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_09-b05, mixed mode)
    And I open it in Internet Explorer 6.0 sp2.
    bash-2.05# ./imsimta version
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2 (built Dec 2 2004) libimta.so 6.2 (built 00:34:23, Dec 2 2004) SunOS projes 5.9 Generic_118558-11 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1500
    I didnt know what is wrong and why I can not start the administration interface. Can someone help me?
    Thanks in advance.

    What "symantec is supported" means, is that we've tested our product with the scan engine, and it is known to work. It does not mean we have a clue how to support the product itself, only the integration with our product.
    The problem you describe appears to be within the Symantec product itself, not the integration with our product. It's just the integration we would know how to support.
    Also, please do understand:
    1. This forum is not an official Support offering. It's a public forum.
    2. Any answers given here are given by folk that donate their time, with no compensation.
    If you want "technical support", it's something you would have to open a support case for. In this case, what is likely to happen is what happened above. "it's a problem in your Symantec product. Please call them".
    I'm not trying to blow you off, it's just that your Symantec Scan Engine is a "black box" to us. We learned enough about it to integrate it into Messaging Server, but not enough to "support" it as a product, nor should we.
