6i c/s migration to web problems...

All,
I am curious if others have had similar issues when migrating from c/s to web forms. We have seen the expected cosmetic issues in making this switch and some expected functional issues (reports invocation, dll calls to pjc's, etc.).
What we didn't expect is a vast number of forms that no longer behave as they did previously. For example, we are getting forms where lovs are not populating, connection dropped errors and many more. With over 600 forms to migrate, this has turned into a much bigger task than was expected. (Since all forms are intertwined, there can be no phased approach... it is big bang or nothing! Also, most forms have many stacked canvases --- ie. one form has 21 canvases... so just dealing with the cosmetic issues is a big task!)
Are others experiencing the same? I'm not sure if this can be an environmental issue, but at this point, that might be easier to fix/understand than the current situation!

Hi,
It is not possible to do achieve what you want, in C/S and Web more using same methodology. For 6i, you may need to use OLE, and for web, you can use a PJC (you can build it on top of JSpell? ). Of course, I am aware that both options are falling on your exception list ;) , but, i feel this is what you left out.

Hi,
To use the Import Wizard utility, you basically need Administrator, Full Control to Top-level folder, and "Add objects to the folder" and "Edit objects" for this user on the root folder.
You need the least restrictive role, because you require absolute control for content promotion between 2 entitlement systems.
the webi document is the cherry on-top, you;ll have universes, connections, folders to bring over too.

You need the 'Domain' file in which iWeb keeps its data. This lives by default in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb. You need to locate it on the old machine and copy it to the same position in the new machine. Note that it is the Library folder in your Home folder, not the one at root level.
This folder is hidden on Lion and above; to access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice. In Mavericks you can make it permanently visible - open your Home Folder the from the Finder's View menu, choose show View Options and check Show User Library.

Migration of web application from 8.1 to 9.2

Can anybody tell me how to migrate a web application (ear, war archive) from version 8.1 to 9.2. I believe that the application can simply be transferred and deployed in 9.2 from 8.1 and it works well. But if it doesnt work, do i need to change anything in the desciptor files or anything.

its very much possible to migrate the component to 7,3 platform. SAP NWDS 7,3 provides a migration wizard to help with the migration, after that you need to do some manual adjustments, like changing the deprecated APIs, fixing JAR dependency etc etc..

From schema 1 to schema 2 migration delegated admin problem

I want migrate from schema 1 to schema 2 the messaging server 6.2 ( jes 2005q1).
I have install access manager and delegated admin.
With the commdirmig I migrate the domain and schema , the messaging work correctly.
I have a problem with the delegated admin web interface.
The delegated don't view my domain. If I add the sundelegatedorganization objectclass I can view my domain on delegated admin but I can view user and group.
Any Idea?

There are two very different products called "deletaged admin". The old iPlanet Delegated Admin (iDA) only works with Schema 1. The current Delegated Admin, that comes with JES3 only works with Schema 2.
If you're using the old iDA that worked with schema 1, it won't work with schema 2. You have to install the new DA for that.
It doesn't work with groups/lists, only with users and domains.

Migrating java web services to XI

Hi,
at our company, we currently have several web services developed in JAVA on SAP Web AS Java 6.40. These call from 1 to N RFC functions in SAP Backend systems.
We will be migrating to XI in the near future.
I suppose these web services could be simply redeployed on the XI SAP Web AS Java. Would there be any problems with this ?
We could of course redevelop the web services using XI but this may be quite costly.
Do you have any recommandations regarding this type of migration ?
We also have web services deployed on the Business connector which perform the same type of functions. Is there any kind of migration path documented from business connector to XI ?

Hi,
The webservices you developed can be used by XI, by using the SOAP adapter.
I assume WSDLs are available for these webservices. All information required to configure XI are in the WSDL.
You should not need to change anything with your existing webservices to participate in integration scenarios thru XI.

We checked the web and found something like netweaver seems not to support listener.OK,so we changed it to servlet...but it still doesn't work....
our webwork is 2.2.5.

The 7.0 WD architecture is very different as of releases >= 71X.

GIF/Save for Web problem (PSE 7)

I've tried searching for an answer to this problem but nothing seems to address quite what's happening.
I recently had to replace my laptop, and switched from Windows XP to Windows 7. I transferred PSE 7 from the old system to the new system, and have had no trouble with it- until now. I have a 52-layer Photoshop-format image that I would like to save as an animated .gif, with each layer as a different frame. File >> Save As has the option to save Layers as Frames, but if I check it, then click "Save", nothing happens. Nothing at all. On my old system, I'd get a new dialogue with options like quality, duration per frame, loop, etc, but that's not happening anymore, and nothing saves (if I go to find the new .gif file, it's just not there). If I DON'T choose "Layers as Frames", the .gif dialogue comes up just fine, and it has no trouble saving as a static .gif. But it seems that it's just refusing to save it in animated format.
I'm having the same issue with "Save For Web". Neither the file menu option or the keystroke command will bring up the dialogue to let me save it that way. It thinks for maybe a second, but then doesn't do anything else, and doesn't save the image.
I've already tried resetting the layout, just in case the dialogue box was shifted somewhere I just wasn't seeing, and I tried resetting the Save For Web preferences, but neither of those things worked. Any explanation as to why an animated "Layers as Frames" .gif is the only format that isn't saving properly?
I've also tried opening old animated .gifs that I created with XP, and they will not re-save as animated .gifs either. I get the "Do you want to save the changes made" dialogue, but clicking "Yes" doesn't do anything and doesn't save the updates. I'm at a complete loss for why this function no longer works.

Glad you got it working.
It takes some getting use to the differences between xp and windows 7
in regards to permissions and all that stuff. Even when you install
programs on an administrative account, problems still persist sometimes.
What i do is always install programs by right clicking on the installer and
choosing Run as Administrator even when installing on an account with administrative
permissions. I seem to have less problems doing it that way. Anyway, just something to
keep in mind for the future.

I have checked migration utility inversion 9.x basically this migration utility is compatible for reports from version 7.x to 9.x and it is not supported for reports from 9.x to 11.x ....
So i have finally fallowed a procedure.
I have exported the reports from 9.x and imported in 11.x .
Then after exporting i have pointed database connections to new 11.x version server.
Now I was facing a issue when i open a reports in read only mode (i.e as a business user) iam getting a screen where it asks for database details ( I have assigned business user read access to essbase)
Basically this reports are pointing to my old essbase server i.e version 9.x server.
Please let me if iam missing something while exporting and importing reports.

Forms Migration Assistant installation problem

I'm trying to install Forms Migration Assistant on linux to convert forms 6i apps to forms 9i. But when i try to install FMA downloaded from here the installer says that the Oracle Home does not have Oracle Forms 9i installed altough it was shown in installed products. The output of the log file is below. Please if anyone know the solution for this problem or have any idea it would be so helpful.
