Scanning with Kodak i65 and Vista

Hi,
I am having trouble 'Creating a PDF from Scanner' with a Kodak i65 scanner. Everytime I attempt to scan a document with Acrobat 8 and Vista I receive a scanning failed message. The 'Scan Validation Tool' scans documents fine to the .tiff format however when I try to scan documents with Acrobat 8 it doesn't work and I get 'Scanning failed.'
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew

I have the exact same problem. Except I have the Kodak i30 Scanner. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (with the Security Update 1 installed).
In the past, I ran the following configurations on an older computer with no problems:
- Windows XP & Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 (with all of its various updates)
- Windows Vista & Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 (with all of its various updates)
- Windows Vista & Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (with the Security Update 1 installed)
However, when I built a new computer, installed Windows Vista Ultimate, installed the Kodak i30 Scanner, I receive a "Scanning failed." error everytime I try to scan directly into Acrobat.
BTW, I HAVE "tried with latest Scan Validation Tool and firmware update from Kodak site." Updating the SVT and firmware neither helped nor hurt.
Has anyone had a successful fix to this issue?

As Jim points out, CS3 was the first Vista-certified version, though many did get PrPro 2.0 to run on it.
Now, if PrPro 1.5 is running otherwise, you might have some luck with http://www.asio4all.com You'll need to download this freeware, install it, and then point PrPro to it in Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware>Asio Settings for input and output.
    Good luck,

  • Problems scanning with HP printer and Mavericks

I recently installed the GM version of Mavericks and tried to scan some stuff and it came up with this error "An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to. Check the properties for the file to make sure it is not read-only." I tried repairing permissions and reinstalling the scanner software, but to no avail.....I'm not certain if it is because of Mavericks or something unrelated to that...any suggestions?

    Hi burdell1,
As I am sure you know, OS X Mavericks has not yet been released by Apple. Gold Master is only a version of the Mavericks and was released to developers but not yet to the public. The HP software you are using is not compatible with the OS X 10.9, it was designed for the 10.8. This is likely why you are experiencing the issues you are having.
Maybe try scanning with he system preferences rather then the HP Scan software. How to Scan without HP Software.
Method one: Scan from Apple Preview
Method two: Scan from Apple Image Capture
Method three: Scan from Print & Scan
With any luck on of the above options will enable you to start scanning again. Hope the information I have provided is helpful!

  • Wireless printer sharing with windows 7 and vista operating systems.

    hello can anyone help me?
i have a new HP pc with windows 7 OS, and have an epson PX710W 3in1 printer.
i want to connect a laptop with vista OS to share the printer (wireless set up).
the pc will print documents ok via wireless link, but when i power up the laptop it appears to inhibit the printing function (document will not print).
i have set up file/ print sharing but there is the problem. it appears to me that sharing is only possible between pc,s etc with windows 7 OS via the homegroup set up. Has  anyone encountered this problem at all, has anyone any ideas? or is it a configuration problem that i'm not aware of?

I found that I had issues with getting all of these to work - individually.  I have an XPPro (32) pc trying to print to Win7Ultimate printer - printer is shared with all settings wide open, works great with another 7 or Vista machine, but same errors
as above for XP.  I got it to work an old way, and then the "local port" way worked.  I don't really know why as yet, but I am investigating.
    My Solution -
    1. As stated in other posts, install the printer locally on the XP machine.  Make sure that it prints.
2. Connect the printer to the 7 machine, print a test, then change the file and print sharing options to "yes".  I also installed the "Universal Driver" for my printer - HP1200 Laserjet.
    3. Make sure that the Network type that the 7 machine sees is "Work" or "Home", not "Public". -  I don't know if this really  did anything or not, but I did make the change - mine thought the network was "Public".
    4. Go back to the XP machine, if you get errors when you add the "Local Port" as suggested, then do this -
    Warning Old Dos Trick -
         -  Open a Command Prompt, then type (without quotes) "net use Lpt1 \\COMPUTERNAME\PRINTERSHARE " - where "computername" is the name of the computer and sharename is the shared name of the printer
    on that computer.
        - you SHOULD see "command completed successfully", if not check to make sure that you have rights on the 7 machine.  Now you should be able to print a test page to the printer. CAUTION - it took awhile for the changes to
take, so you may have the hourglass looking at you for a few minutes. - Once you reboot this will not work as the connection is just for that session.
To explain: this command is the dos version of what happens when you re-route output to a different destination - thus any traffic to LPT1 goes to \\computername\sharename.
    5. After this worked, I then could add the "local port", as detailed earlier and had no errors.
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • Writing file with windows 7 and vista os..

    hi,
since i am using Windows XP operating system with Labview, i made a executable file and i trying to install with Windows 7 or Vista OS installed PC.
when my device is detect it will gives the hardware information , that have to save in to the hard disk, where i am usually putting near to my Application
program exe file. using XP will not be any problem its creates and writes the information file.
for the Vista and windows 7 OS has a adminstrative writes it wont allow to create and write a new file where near to application exe file.
is there any method has to set these file for administrative rights on Windows 7 and vista OS?
i am using Labview 8.6 version
    Regards,
    Balaji DP

You would need to log into the computer with an account that has administrative rights. Or, you could configure the application to run under the administrator account. Both of these are Windows operations.
Or, you could fix your code so it doesn't do that.

  • Handshaking Scanning with PCI DMM and SCXI

    Hi,
I am trying to implement handshaking scanning with hardware that I have. Here's my setup:
    My software : NI-DMM 2.5, NI-SWITCH 3.0.49161, NI-DAQmx 8.0.0f0, NI-VISA 3.4, VC++ 2005 Express.
    My hardware : PCI 4070, SCXI1000, 2 SCXI1127, SH9MD-AUX cable and SCXI 1359 kit.
First I am trying to run the example called niSwitchDMMSwitchHandshaking.c. I am getting an error message that says:
"Sample trigger or trigger source cannot be set to external when the device is configured for SCXI control"
My setup uses PCI-4070 as a chassis communicator, but this is not something that I can change. How can I solve this?
Another related question is do I need to make any additional electrical connections? One of the functions sets trigger attributes to FRONT_CONNECTOR but the "Scanning Switch Modules" document explains that "AUX I/O can be used to control an SCXI chassis and to sent and receive triggers", and that would be my prefered setup. What do I need to do?
Thank you for your prompt help.
    Jerry.

You are correct, I had missed this detail of the SCXI-1127's
operation.  Since you are using a PCI-4070, it is not possible to
use the PXI-1011 chassis with your current DMM.  The best solution
I could recommend would be to use another device, such as a USB-1359 to
control the SCXI chassis, then the AUX Connector on your DMM will be
available to make the trigger connections needed for handshaking with
the SCXI-1127 switch.  Keep in mind; however, that you will only
be able to handshake with one of your switches using this method.

  • Trouble with itunes upgrade and Vista

I upgraded to 8.0 last night. The upgrade seemed to go as normal, but all I have is a blank itunes icon on my desktop which doesn't work. I reinstalled and still the same thing. Any suggestions?

This happens to me every single time I upgrade iTunes since as far back as version 6.x I think and its happened on both Vista and XP PC's.
Every single time I upgrade it does something with the desktop and quick launch icons to where they get "blanked" out and are no longer valid. This forces me to re-copy the "Start Menu\Programs\iTunes" shortcuts (that are created by default with the installer) back to the desktop and quick launch every single time I upgrade.
Does anyone know why this happens? The iTunes installation is the only program Ive ever seen this issue with and its really gotten pretty annoying.
    Thanks a bunch!!

  • Impossible to scan with à MP610 canon and a Airport express

I print with à canon MP610 on a Airport express, but it is impossible to scan withit.
    help me .....

Sorry, but Canon and other manufacturers have not provided full featured drivers to allow advanced functions when their devices are connected to the USB port on the AirPorts......which is how I assume that you are connecting.
If you need advanced features like scan, copy, fax, maintenance etc., you will need to connect the All-in-One directly to your computer.
You might want to contact Canon Support directly to ask them if they plan to offer full featured drivers in the future.

  • Scanning with Image Capture and HP C4780

I am using Image Capture to scan photos from my HP Photosmart C4780.
When I "hide details" first an overview scan performs and then the scan performs and saves to the chosen folder.
When I "show details" I run into problems. An overview scan will perform in the same amount of time that it takes when I "hide details." However, when it performs an actual scan to save the photo, the time it takes to scan is much greater: approximately two minutes longer than above. Then, once the scan is complete it does not save the photo nor does it allow me to do anything within Image Capture. It simply shows a completed "scanning" bar and no photo in the background. At that time the only button available is cancel and nothing happens when I click it. (However, the cancel button does work if I do it in the middle of the scan.) Additionally, after quitting and reopening Image Capture I receive a message “Trying to open scanner session” then “Failed to open a session on the device.” The same problem persists when I shut down the computer and printer and then restart both.
I have tried reinstalling the HP software and drivers.
Also, I have changed the settings on "show details" and then went back to "hide details" to perform the scan and found that the new settings are applied. Therefore, I don't believe that it is the actual settings causing the problem.
I can scan using "hide details" since it seems to be a workaround, but I was wondering if someone else has had this problem, and/or if it is a sign that there is a bug somewhere that could mess up my scans. I'm planning on scanning lots of photos and wanted to make sure everything is working properly before I get too deep into this project.

Why use Image Capture when HP's software can do the same thing?

  • (Cross Post! SORRY!)  Having trouble with Mac Pro and Vista/Boot Camp

I feel like this board is more populated, so I thought I'd post this here as well. Forgive me.
Ok, so it took me forever to install Vista. It kept saying my partition wasn't valid even after I'd format it. After restarting like 15 times it finally went through. So, it installed.
BUT, now I have two issues. When Vista starts, I get this weird jumble of like MS-DOS text talking about partitions, weird numbers, my monitors just flash and kinda go nuts with the text then at the top after like 10 second of text, it says 'booting windows vista' with more ms-dos text. Finally after 30 seconds of that, it shows me that green bar that shows up to load Vista then voila, Vista is up and running. The OS works fine, but no matter what, I go through that jumble of text. Any way to get rid of it? What's wrong with it?
Also, now that I've installed Vista, I can't get back into OS X. I have a wireless PC keyboard and a wireless bluetooth Apple keyboard, so I don't know what to do. When I go into Vista's Control Panel to select Startup Disk it says it can't load the program. So I'm at a loss. I really wanna get back into OS X!
    Any help would be fantastic!!

Ok, I fixed the issue by using the wireless PC keyboard. I put the Vista install DVD in the drive and restarted the computer. The computer wouldn't recognize the OS X DVD.
I remembered that the computer would register the keyboard inputs after restarting from the Vista Install Screen, so I restarted, held down alt on the PC keyboard and it worked!
Now with the apple keyboard working, I restarted and reset the PRAM which made the computer boot into OS X by default instead of Vista.
BUT, I still get that weird DOS text every time I load Vista, and now after keeping Vista running for a few hours, it starts kinda glitching over time. It loses connection with the network (I had to physically unplug and plug back in the ethernet cable to get it to recognize the network) and for some reason in order to use my apple keyboard, I have to turn it off and on when I get into Vista. It's annoying.
Anywho, if anyone can help me with my Vista problems, that'd be grand :P

  • HP 6520 won't scan with wireless connection and new router

My printer scanned fine before.  Got a new internet provider=new router and now I can't scan scan anymore.  The computer is connected wirelessly.  The computer says it cannot communicate with the scanner.  Same if I try from the printer front panel, it says it can't communicate with the computer.
The router seems like the obvious cuprit, but nothing in the router settings or manual suggest anything that could be blocking the scanner communications.  The router firewall is turned-off.
Printing works fine, and I can connect to the printer through its IP address.  The user interface can see the printer status, check ink levels, everything.  Everything works but scanning.  I've re-installed software multiple times, tried turning off firewalls and tried HP Scan and Print doctor.  It's not much help.
    I'm at wits end.

Hello @etcottle , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you are experiencing scan connectivity issues.  I would like to help!
I would recommend powering down your computer,  disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, and remove the power from your router for 60 seconds.
After 60 seconds, plug the router back in.  Once the router has begun broadcasting, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
After the printer is on, re-run the wireless setup.
    I'd also suggest this document:

  • New HH3 - Issues with Kodak Printer and iPhone 3GS

    Hello,
    Here is the background:
Previously had a D-Link DSL-G624M router and everything connected wirelessly. This included 2 laptops, Kodak ESP 5250 Printer and iPhone 3GS. Router broadcasting on channel 6 (locked).
Since upgrading to Infinity replaced the D-Link with a HH3. Laptops connect fine but have issues with other wireless devices.
iPhone: Seems to lose internet (not necessarily wireless connection though) intermittently. The phone remains connected to the HH3 and can be seen in the DHCP table and Home Network screens. The iPhone also reports that it is connected to the HH3. However, when attempting to access the internet using either Safari or apps it doesn't work. This can be fixed by forgetting the network and re-joining or turning Airplane Mode on and then off.
Kodak ESP5250 Printer: This connects fine to the HH3 and remains in the DHCP table and Home Network with the correct IP Address. Laptop A is able to connect and print successfully. However, after putting the laptop into sleep mode and re-waking it it is unable to Print. The Printer is still connected to the HH3 and laptop claims it is 'Ready' but unable to print. The only way i have found to fix this is to re-install the entire Printer software!! However, Laptop B does not have this problem and can be put into Sleep mode, Hibernate or restart and the printer remain connected. I do not think it is a firewall issue as able to connect until re-waking from sleep.
You're probably thinking the same as me that this sounds like hardware issues and not the HH3. Maybe coincidence that it started happening after changing to HH3. Maybe something wrong with the iPhone or Laptop A and/or Printer?!? Tried setting a manual channel on the HH3 as suggested by other posts but this had no effect. (Used inSSIDer to determine best channel). Also increased the IP Address lease time from 1 Day to 21 Days - but again no difference.
Current situation: Connected the D-Link router to the HH3 using Ethernet cable. Disabled DHCP and DNS on the D-Link router and kept SSID different. Now connected all devices to the D-Link router and nothing to the HH3 and everything is working as it did previously. The iPhone remains stable and the Kodak printer remains connected to both Laptops after re-waking from Sleep Mode.
I haven't yet contacted BT but i'm leaning towards it being a dodgy HH3. Anyone have any suggestions??
    Thanks,
    Martyn...

For starters, there's nothing wrong with your Iphone or Kodak prn. The issue is the HH3
I had a very similar issue connecting iMac, iPad, Macbook Pro, iPhone, Thinkpad and Canon prn via wireless to the HH3... Lots of disconnections, devices that couldn't log in, very low wireless speeds, printer not recognized, etc,etc
I went mad, pretty much did the same things as you did: inSSIDer, changing channels, re-installing whole softw drv !, reorientating HH3 position, manually assigning IPs and channels... nothing would seem to work!
Then I connected a Netgear router to HH3 via ethernet cable -like you did- and suddenly everything seemed to go back to normal. Here's what I found out after much head knocking:
    1) The issue is the HH3, not that it's faulty but simply put it can't deal with lots of wireless traffic. The minute you connect several devices it gets clogged up
    2) HH3 seem not to recognize WiFI printers that have a 'static' IP (not sure why)...  this was a nightmare
    3) if you have many devices connected, HH3 doesn't  seem to 'like' Apple devices or wifi Airport powered (not sure why). After sleep mode these device can't pick up IP over the air, and you need to manually renew DHCP leases. There are several reports about this in Apple forums.
    So here's what I did:
    1) I ditched the HH3
    2) I connected the Openreach router to a dual-band Netgear wndr3400 **cable** router (PPPoE connection)
    3) I re-installed the prn drv in USB mode and then added wifi printer in wifi mode while usb connected
    4) I created two-split WIFI networks; one in the channel 6/2.4Ghz frequency and another in the channels 44-48/5Ghz freq to which I assigned most devices (It seems BT Infinity wifi works best in 5Ghz channels)
Results: all devices recognised & connected via WiFI, no disconnections, steady WIFI speed almost as fast as ethernet cable, wifi prn prints fine from all devices... No more WIFI connnectivity issues.
I hope this helps, good luck
(note: my current issue is that my profile dropped from 34/8 to 21/2 during testing phase)
