7.5 MS version - Macro "MNU_Eanalyze_Refresh"

In my report added a button and assigned the macro "MNU_EANALYZE_refresh".
when i click on the button ,nothing happens.
any idea how to make refresh button work?

Hi,
Using "MNU_eANALYZE_REFRESH" will recalculate all the dimension formulas. You wont be able to see any window confirming that. However, all the dimension formulas will be recalculated.

Openoffice 3 beta and devel -- what's the difference?

There are now two different ooo3 packages in extra -- devel and beta. What's the difference? Bleeding-edge vs. stability?
It also seems that the beta package takes the user configuration from ~/.openoffice/3/user, whereas the devel package uses ~/.openoffice3/user. Are there other differences?
Can I just move the old files to the new profile?
BTW, the beta package (at least) solves most of the problems I had with the previous ooo3 version (macros not found, etc.) -- thanks!

The beta pkg is the latest recommended "Prerelease" for serious testing leading to the next stable release (beta+release candidates). It is based on forked source trees (some kind of a "branch").
The devel pkg is based on the latest public developement snapshot (like "trunk"). Beyond that there are only custom patches and not yet integrates so called "child work spaces"(cws). It is just a playground for me to follow all changes to keep it compile and for users to test latest features and sure to early find new bugs. I know some Arch users are contributing to OpenOffice.org in various ways.
I try to make it possible to install all varsions along not mixing each other. But afaik we have no control in what direction personal configuration will be stored. So it's always good to backup ~/.openoffice* before starting another version.

Like any other app on the Mac in Numbers 3.0 you can do basic "GUI scripting" by which you can have AppleScript (placed in an Automator service or workflow or just as a "standalone" AppleScript) do the equivalent of clicking menu items and issuing keyboard commands like command-v and so forth.
That can be convenient as far as it goes. You can attach the script to a keyboard shortcut and use it, for example, to insert the current date in a cell (something the designers forgot to include as a menu pick in the current version).
But Numbers 3.0 doesn't have AppleScript support like the old version, where you could get the values from specific cells, do things with them in a macro-like script as powerful as you want to make it, and "push" the results to specified cells.
Would be nice if they brought that functionality back.

To Run a Word Macro recorded in 2000 in latest versions of Word

Hello All,
I have recorded a macro in word 2000 and calling that macro through Jacob 1.11 in my Java Swing application. That works fine for word 2000. I just want to use that same macro in Word Xp and for latest versions of Word. The problem is it is not invoking the macro in Word XP. But internally it is functionaning. I want to open it whenever the Word is opened.
I have placed the macro other than in Normal.dot file and trying to open it. It opens in word 2000 as i said but not in XP and latest versions. Please refer the following code and help me....

Word VBA Macro Version Registered is Incorrect

I am running RoboHelp 10. Windows 8. When I try to generate Printed Documentation, this message appears "Please re-install Printed Documentation." I've searched the previous postings. While my post is related to the problem; it is not related to the solution. Any suggestions for fix would be appreciated.

The email from your original post had a line about working for Beth but when
I came to the forum via the web you had edited it out. I removed this
because it had nothing to do with the issue and thought the mention leaned
on the side of name dropping.
I think this problem is Windows 8 related so the first thing is can you work
on a Windows 7 machine and do you get the same issue there? My desktop runs
Windows Vista. I installed RH10 on that machine and was able to generate the
Printed Documentation without issue. The version of Word is 7.
I want to confirm the setup here. You mention links between projects not
working so it sounds like this is a merged help scenario. Correct? Is the
reason for creating new projects part of resolving the broken links problem?
I'm wondering if maybe I should speak to Beth who I know? I will wait until
I hear from you on that. The project I am working on will eventually be in a
merged WebHelp scenario. And yes.the reason for creating NEW projects is due
to resolving the broken link issue. Some of us project contractors had to
'rename' the project. Beth found that when we do this, RH does not rename
everything. Therefore, when linking, the path for the link does not
represent the actual name of file folders, etc. (I hope that makes sense). I
can forward you Beth's communication (different email acct) to me about
creating new projects for future linking. If you want this, please let me
know where to send.

Macros in a future version of numbers

I just had an idea about how macros could be implemented in Numbers the "Apple way".
I imagine an editor that is similar to Quartz Composer, letting you simply add and connect the functions needed.
I mean, we have a great GUI on the Mac and the GUI was done to make things easier, so why not implement that here?
What do others think about this idea?

Macros in BPC version 10

Hello Experts,
I am trying to run Macros in EPM BPC 10 reports and input forms. I came across this blog post and have followed steps 1,2 and 3. I am not very clear about how to instantiate the Class in VB (step 4) and use the same with the button I created from the developer tab.

The Macros work fine when you type in the script given in step 4 of the blog, on the VB script page which opens once you insert a button using the developer tab.

Getting an Error: The Word VBA Macro Version is incorrect.

Gettin an error for trying create a pdf. Attached is the screenshot.
Any suggestions? Running, Word 2007 and have Acrobat Pro 9 installed as well. RoboHelp 8.0.

Memory usage of excel stays high after Macro is executed and excel crashes after trying to close it

I'm trying to resolve an issue with an excel based tool. The macros retrieve data from an Oracle database and do calculations with the data. They also open and write into files in the same directory. The macros all run and finish the calculations. I can
continue to use and modify the sheet. I can also close the workbook, however excel memory usage I see in the windows Task manager stays elevated.If I close Excel it says: Excel stopped working and then it tries to recover information...
I assume something in the macro did not finish properly and memory was not released. I would like to check what is still open (connection, stream or any other object) when I close the workbook I would like to have a list of all still used memory. Is there
a possibility to do so.

that's what I did the last days and found that the problem is in the
newPrice_calculate (lastRow)
function. This function retrieves data (sets it as arrays) which was correctly pasted into the sheet, loops through all rows and does math/calendar calculations with cell values using an Add-In("Quantlib")

EXCEL spreadsheet with MACROS

WILL NUMBERS 2009 SUPPORT AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET WITH EMBEDDED MACROS?

Looks like Excel will get macros back. This is from Wikipedia:

Excel spreadsheets with macro's created in Windows does not work on my Macbook (excel for mac 2011), even if I enable macro's. I do not create these spreadsheets myself. Cn anyone assist please? Thank you for your time.

As far as I known, the macro/Active X control can be used well with both of the Office 2013 and Office 365.

attachment. Then, I tested it, I found the probably reason.
You were using ActiveX controls in the sample file, and them displayed 4 tabs in Format control dialog box. Next, you created a new Form control, it displayed 7 tabs.
You were using the two type of controls. ActiveX controls and Form controls
are different.
Form controls
Form controls are the original controls that are compatible with earlier versions of Excel, starting with Excel version 5.0. Form controls are also designed for use on XLM macro sheets.
ActiveX controls
ActiveX controls can be used on worksheet forms, with or without the use of VBA code, and on VBA UserForms. In general, use ActiveX controls when you need more flexible design requirements than those provided by Form controls. ActiveX controls have extensive
properties that you can use to customize their appearance, behavior, fonts, and other characteristics.

Ive had this error appear on one of the workstations i manage, Its running windows 8.1 and office 365. Ive tried reinstalling office and I've checked for COM add-ins, which were discussed in topics with the same error but there are none installed. The error

It Crashes once i try to print and sometimes when running database connected macros. Sometimes I can get it to print by running excel as admin. The macro crash I got rid of by setting security settings to full control for the user but that cant be optimal.
Any help would be appreciated.

I get the error in safe mode too. The macro error was sorted by giving the user full control in the security settings. Funny thing is that everything runs fine in Excel 2010. I tried contacting Office 365 support but those guys won't give support to usability
issues in the office tools. So i got refered to the support branch where you have to pay for support and my boss won't allow that.
So I'm pretty much stuck at this point. My guess is that it is some kind of compatability issue but I don't have enough excel experience to figure out where the problem is. We have over a couple hundred excel templates where a handful has come up with the
error in Excel 2013 so far, so unless theres some global fix or an update comming for this problem I got some work ahead of me.

How to schedule macros to open a report , refresh and update database?

We have the below set of steps that work on a deski environment. It works fine on XI R3.1 Fix pack 1.5, but I am unable to schedule and get the macros to run although i've included the entire macros code in - Private Sub DocumentAfterRefresh()
Refresh of report
Step 1 : Report is Refreshed. Refreshed data contains 10 Report Names to be opened by the Macros and the prompt values that these reports need to be refreshed with.
Macros Functionality:
Step 1 : Opens 1st report of the 10 reports from the repository in deski thick client, updates the database by setting a flag on the processing to Y or N for the report being processed.
Step 2 : Refreshes the report with the prompt values obtained from the first refresh in the report, saves the refreshed data to a CSV or PDF at a location.
Step 3 : Updates the database if the report has been genrated or not and then deletes the local copy of the output csv and pdf.
The above steps repeat over and over again until all 10 reports open up, get refreshed and update the database.
Now all of this works on Deski thick client/refresh and macros.
However, when i schedule it, the macros doesnot seem to be running.
Is the above scenario even possible to replicate via a schedule process..?
Note : The reports need to be retained in Deski itself.

Scheduling Background Jobs
Use
You can define and schedule background jobs in two ways from the Job Overview:
Directly from Transaction SM36. This is best for users already familiar with background job scheduling.
The Job Scheduling Wizard. This is best for users unfamiliar with SAP background job scheduling. To use the Job Wizard, start from Transaction SM36, and either select Goto ® Wizard version or simply use the Job Wizard button.
Procedure
Call Transaction SM36 or choose CCMS ® Jobs ® Definition .
Assign a job name. Decide on a name for the job you are defining and enter it in the Job Name field.
Set the jobs priority, or "Job Class":
High priority: Class A
Medium priority: Class B
Low priority: Class C
In the Target server field, indicate whether to use system load balancing.
For the system to use system load balancing to automatically select the most efficient application server to use at the moment, leave this field empty.
To use a particular application server to run the job, enter a specific target server.
If spool requests generated by this job are to be sent to someone as email, specify the email address. Choose the Spool list recipient button.
Define when the job is to start by choosing Start Condition and completing the appropriate selections. If the job is to repeat, or be periodic, check the box at the bottom of this screen.
Define the jobs steps by choosing Step, then specify the ABAP program, external command, or external program to be used for each step.
Save the fully defined job to submit it to the background processing system.
When you need to modify, reschedule, or otherwise manipulate a job after you've scheduled it the first time, you'll manage jobs from the Job Overview.
Note: Release the job so that it can run. No job, even those scheduled for immediate processing, can run without first being released.

SmartView 11.1.2.2 VBA Macro Performance

Hi Good Day,
We have created a Macro in Excel that use VBA functions to connect, retrieve data, send data and run business rules.
The macro works fine (it takes around 5 minutes to execute), however we have detected that the retrieves using the command "hypretrieve" takes around 1 minute to be executed, but if I manually connect and execute the retrieve in the same sheet definition it is done in 20 seconds. So my guess is that the macro it’s making the retrieve to increment the time in 300%
Does somebody have some tips to reduce this time? Or tune the macro?

11.1.2.2.300 the latest release of Smart View does support Office 64 bit. You can download the latest version here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/smart-view-for-office/downloads/index.html or on My Oracle Support.
Remember SV is backwards compatible so the client version does not need to match the server version.
