7961/7914 SRST

When our phones go into SRST mode, none of the 7961/7914 will go into SRST mode, they just continually say Registering. Here is a sh call-manager-fallback:

Reading through the SRST Manuals for 4.0 it says no additional configuration is necessary for the 7914. Any ideas?
Thanks

Figured it out. My Device pool for 7961/7914 phones was pointing to the default gateway for srst instead of the srst router.

  • CME with 7914

I have a customer with 7914 expansion module in their reception. The site have around 15 phones, they are on two different pick up groups.
The reception phone which is 7961 with 7914 module have all users in the module. The receptionist wants to pick up all users call when they are busy. Right now i have configure them as monitor button in which she can see the lines whthether they are busy before transfering. Is there anyway i can configure these lines so that she can pickup the calls on these lines without entering GPickup number?. I hope my questin is clear!

    Hello,
Why not setting "call-forward busy" on the ephone-dn's ?
I don't think there is a setting for "button" that will let you do what you want, and the "monitor" configuration is the right one.
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

  • 7914 with CallManager 4.2

I would like to set up some 7914 icw 7961 so that our agents can monitor other extension within a call center to see who is on a call. Can the ring feature on the 7914 be programmed as silent while the lines/numbers (1-6) on the 7961 remain audible?

    Hi Jay,
The feature you need DSS/BLF is available in CCM 5.x (and later). Unfotunately, not in any earlier versions of CCM. Either configure the Button as a Shared Line (to see the status) or as a Speeddial for quick Transfers :(
In CCM 5.x this is a traditional BLF (Busy Lamp Field) which is used to monitor On/Off Hook, Busy/Idle conditions on users phones, as well as having a Speeddial functionality for fast dialing and Transfers. These keys can't be used to answer actual calls.
Cisco Unified CallManager Speed Dial Presence
Cisco Unified CallManager supports the ability for a speed dial to have presence capabilities via a busy lamp field (BLF) speed dial. BLF speed dials work as both a speed dial and a presence indicator.Only the system administrator can configure a BLF speed dial; a system user is not allowed to configure a BLF speed dial.
    States are:
    Idle
    Busy
    Unknown
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_implementation_design_guide_chapter09186a008070bc02.html#wp1070507
    In CCM 5.X you are referring to this functionality;
    A Phone Monitors a BLF/SpeedDial.
After an administrator configures the presence feature and the BLF/SpeedDial buttons, a user can immediately begin to monitor the real-time status of a presence entity.
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a008062b705.html#wp1134881
This differs from the "Old" Shared line appearance setups in the CCM 3.X and 4.X trains.
    Hope this helps!
    Rob

  • SRST Features

Can anyone tell me if you can retain your speed dials on a 7960/7961 or 7970/7971 during SRST failover. Also can you retain the distinctive onnet/offnet rings in SRST mode?

    Yes speed dials are retained.
I will test the distinctive rings and let you know.

  • Jabber and SRST???

    Cisco,
I'd like to see if proper SRST support for Jabber is coming to CUCM and IM&P, or if the community is going to continue to be limited in this area? In its current iteration, Jabber is only SRST capable if an active connection to IM&P remains in place. In most cases, this is a catch 22, as increasingly remote environments and users, if losing connectivity to CUCM, lose connectivity to the colocated IM&P server as well. That limitation makes absolutely no sense at all.
Many customers these days are looking to cut costs, and with the advances in application capabilities and feature sets, many are going softphone only and doing away with desk phones altogether. I have one such customer in the early stages of their BE deployment right now. They wish to use Jabber only, but require SRST at their 10 remote site locations. Because of the, frankly, ridiculous caveat in Jabber, this is proving to be a serious issue for the deal.
Our only option for softphone failover is IP Communicator. Why would an aging platform that is no longer the standard or direction that Cisco is pushing be the only option for softphone failover? If Jabber is the new standard, its feature set should at least be comparable to what was, and provide for phone mode only SRST capability. At this point, I now have to configure and maintain inert CIPC devices in CUCM for use on the off chance a remote site circuit goes down. Add to that the overhead for management, user turnover, and additional training on a platform that users will infrequently use, and it adds up to a lot of lost dollars in time.
This has been an issue since Jabber's release, and a hot topic on the forums since the early versions, and still goes unresolved. I believe that this is a very worthy feature for Cisco to address (and more useful and silly things like popup chat windows and toasts) and I'm disappointed that the community's pleas have gone unanswered.
Can we please please get this on the roadmap?! Thanks!
    Jimmy

I haven't gotten any info pointing toward a full resolution on the roadmap. What I have learned from a Cisco contact is that Jabber will continue to function if its running when the connection to IMP and CUCM are lost, however, if Jabber is closed, any subsequent login attempt after that, while CUCM and IMP are down, will fail. Of course, this isn't a very viable solution for a customer. Here's what we're doing for failover with Jabber only environments.
We're are installing redundant WAN circuits at each customer location that Jabber can then use for MRA registration back to CUCM and IMP at the two locations where the severs reside. That gives complete redundancy across the sites from the two HQ server locations all the way out to the branch office.
    Thanks
    Jimmy

  • SRST and reserver one license for operator

Does SRST have a feature which can reserver one for a number , for example operator? The reason being that is say the license we ordered is less than the staff. So we want the call to unregistered phone to be redirected to operator. But we have to ensure operator register first. Thanks

Another way just occurred to me:
Set up an access-list that permits traffic from only the first 24 addresses in your address range to port 2000 on the router:
e.g. your SRST router IP is 192.168.1.254:
    access-list 100 permit tcp 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.15 host 192.168.1.254 eq 2000
    access-list 100 permit tcp 192.168.1.16 0.0.0.7 host 192.168.1.254 eq 2000
    access-list 100 deny tcp 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255 host 192.168.1.254 eq 2000
access-list 100 permit ip any any
Syntax may be dodgy there but you get the idea...
Then reserve the operator phone an IP in DHCP that is in the range that is allowed port 2000 on the router above. Any phones reserved addresses in that range will be able to register with the router, any phones outside will not be able to.

  • BIAPPS 7961 ETL does not load on 1 task

    Hi all,
I have installed BI Apps 7961 with eBS R12 as a source and SQL server 2008 as a target.
Now I am loading all the data but one task does not succeed.
And all other task do load properly.
when I look in the monitor than I can see that it does not have loaded any records yet (and wil not load it as well, since you can leave it for a couple of days without any result).
However, it worked before, but for some reason not anymore...
    any suggestions?

In the query, which comes from the SQ, I saw that there are 3 hints variables used. But they are not filled in the DAC by default.

  • Time out error while executing BW query from SRST

    Hello Experts,
While running a query from SRST t-code im getting time out dump.
Is there any possibility to run the query in background to avoid dumps, apart from taking the report and executing from SE 38

  • SPA8800 and SRST for small branch office?

    Hi All,
Need some help. I have a central site that will be running Cisco BE 5000. I have a small branch office I would like to place IP phones in so we can just dial an extension to call each other. The branch will have its own connection to the PSTN with a couple of POTS lines from the phone company.
So I am wondering how I can connect branch and HQ for intra-office calling and let the branch office use their PSTN connection for their local calls. I would think I could place a gateway such as the SPA8800 in the branch and connect the PSTN lines to it.
My concern is, what happens if I lose the WAN connection between HQ and branch? Then the branch could not make any calls right? I know a little about SRST and how that solves the issue of losing WAN connection with the central Call Manager site, but I what I don't understand is SRST something that can run on a device like the SPA8800 or do I need an ISR router in the branch that can run SRST if I want the branch to be able to make phone calls without a connection to HQ?
    Thanks for any help!

u may but any plane wireless device and run it in bridge mode (shouldd run by default i beleive). Then connect one of its lan port to any one of the lan ports available on the DPC3829 thing.
you are correct in what you want to do, and it can be done no problem.
    Regards
Please mark answer as correct if it helps.

  • Best Practice for SRST deployment at a remote site

What is the best practice for a SRST deployment at a remote site? Should a separate router such as a 3800 series be deployed for telephony in addition to another router to be deployed for Data? Is there a need for 2 different devices?

    Hi Brian,
    This is typically done all on one ISR Router at the remote site :)There are two flavors of SRST. Here is the feature comparison;
    SRST Fallback
This feature enables routers to provide call-handling support for Cisco Unified IP phones if they lose connection to remote primary, secondary, or tertiary Cisco Unified Communications Manager installations or if the WAN connection is down. When Cisco Unified SRST functionality is provided by Cisco Unified CME, provisioning of phones is automatic and most Cisco Unified CME features are available to the phones during periods of fallback, including hunt-groups, call park and access to Cisco Unity voice messaging services using SCCP protocol. The benefit is that Cisco Unified Communications Manager users will gain access to more features during fallback ****without any additional licensing costs.
Comparison of Cisco Unified SRST and
Cisco Unified CME in SRST Fallback Mode
Cisco Unified CME in SRST Fallback Mode
    • First supported with Cisco Unified CME 4.0: Cisco IOS Software 12.4(9)T
    • IP phones re-home to Cisco Unified CME if Cisco Unified Communications Manager fails. CME in SRST allows IP phones to access some advanced Cisco Unified CME telephony features not supported in traditional SRST
    • Support for up to 240 phones
    • No support for Cisco VG248 48-Port Analog Phone Gateway registration during fallback
    • Lack of support for alias command
    • Support for Cisco Unity® unified messaging at remote sites (Distributed Exchange or Domino)
    • Support for features such as Pickup Groups, Hunt Groups, Basic Automatic Call Distributor (BACD), Call Park, softkey templates, and paging
    • Support for Cisco IP Communicator 2.0 with Cisco Unified Video Advantage 2.0 on same computer
    • No support for secure voice in SRST mode
    • More complex configuration required
    • Support for digital signal processor (DSP)-based hardware conferencing
    • E-911 support with per-phone emergency response location (ERL) assignment for IP phones (Cisco Unified CME 4.1 only)
    Cisco Unified SRST
    • Supported since Cisco Unified SRST 2.0 with Cisco IOS Software 12.2(8)T5
    • IP phones re-home to SRST router if Cisco Unified Communications Manager fails. SRST allows IP phones to have basic telephony features
    • Support for up to 720 phones
    • Support for Cisco VG248 registration during fallback
    • Support for alias command
    • Lack of support for features such as Pickup Groups, Hunt Groups, Call Park, and BACD
    • No support for Cisco IP Communicator 2.0 with Cisco Unified Video Advantage 2.0
    • Support for secure voice during SRST fallback
    • Simple, one-time configuration for SRST fallback service
    • No per-phone emergency response location (ERL) assignment for SCCP Phones (E911 is a new feature supported in SRST 4.1)

  • Can I use SRST for multiple sites wit separate 911 lines

Is it possible to use an SRST (like a 2911 CME/SRST) to support multiple sites.
We have two sites next door to each other. They are connected by fiber with Cisco switches (vlans) at box sites.
Can I use a single SRST and have two separate 911 POTS lines setup so that each site has it's own unique 911 associated with it?
I can create two separate Voice vlans for the two sites and I could have both 29xx interfaces in use (one for each VLAN), but can I separate the dialing out function so that each vlan uses a unique POTS line this way?
Any other solutions other than two SRSTs?

We have to keep the 911 dialing the same at all sites since I already had an idea like that ...but we use 911, 9911 and 8911 for everyone to reach 911 so that they are not confused during an outage.
We will just have to bite the bullet and order 2901 SRSTs for all our small remote sites.

  • Unable to configure 7961-G phone

Using CM, I am unable to successfully configure 7961G phone while selecting 7961G. If I select Standard 7961 instead of 7961G the configuration is successful. I have in CM device defaults the correct loads for 7961G. While selecting 7961G, the phone obtains an IP address and all other necessary network information. The error I recieve is CTL file not found.

do you use certificate trust to authenticate phones in order to register with call manager?
if you do not use certificats, this error should not be a problem.
if you do not use certificates, goto the phone config and make sure there is no CAPF configuration set. (the CTL client copies CAPF certificates to all servers in the cluster)
any other errors or symptoms? what do you mean exactly when you say 'unable to successfully configure'? is it just this one error?
