990FXA GD80V2 w/Realtek ALC 892 not picking up RCA A/V Receiver

New MB just installed.  I'm using the onboard Optical out going to my RCA RT2911 receiver. But it's not being picked up. I have sound over my 5.1 speakers, it's just that the receiver isn't being recognized. Is there any way to get it picked up? I'm using the onboard audio. I'm waiting to hear back from MSI on updating the BIOS. But if it makes any difference (don't think it does) current version is 11.13 (which is for the GD80 mb).  Thanks.

Yeah. I've gone thru Windows Playback Devices and Realtek HD Audio Manager several times to make sure I've got everything set. In the HD Manager, I've got Digital Output (Optical) set default.  In the Windows Playback, I've got Realtek Digital Output (Optical) set default. I've read where those using the analog (connected to the RCA jacks on their receivers) have the receiver recognized. So I'm wondering now if using the optical output doesn't pick that up.

I have problems with on-board Realtek alc 892 audio. Im running out of ideas of what could i do to fix this static noise problem.Im using Logitec z-2300 speaker.I have tried headphones too and all of them have this static noise coming trough. There is no noise with volume at 50% but beyond that it becomes audible. It kinda sounds like scratching vinyl plates or makes popping sound.whenever i move my mouse or type something the noise is coming in.Also when the cpu is under work(while loading something when i click the noise comes in)there are leds on my z77a-g45 mb that shows cpu activity and when they flash the static noise/whine is present. This noise exactly fallows cpu work.At high volume there is always barely audible electrical hummming...Disabling on-board audio in Windows does not have any effect at all.I get the same thing in bios...
What i have tried so far:
    1.Uninstalled/reinstalled audio/video drivers.
    2.Muted microphone,hdmi audio and recording.
3.Switched cable positions, including mouse and speakers jack.
4.Tried other wall contacts in my room.
5.Updated mb bios to latest v2.7
6.Reseated hardware inside pc/cleaned of dust.
7.Cpu oc does not cause this.Same problem with stock clocks.

I have the same problem, have tried 3 PSUs, and nothing, the only solution was to buy an pci-e sound card.
The problem appear when MSI updated BIOS 2.0 to 2.1.
Please don't hijack other people threads, and why don't you flash back to 2.0 or the newest beta? Start your own thread and we can discuss this.

I took gtx 560 ti completely out but no luck. Also took psu out temporary and placed it on the floor. Not even a slight change
Taking the psu out doesn't really do anything, taking the mainboard out and placing it on a non-conductive surface is what I was recommending.  Test with the cpu, cooler, 1 stick of ram, igd and y our mouse / keyboard. After some other things though.
Testing with a different PSU would be good to rule that out as the culprit.

  • Unable to pick up the file from Receive Location

BizTalk is  unable to pick up the files from receive location.
My admin console is working so slow.
It is showing the problem of snap-in as follows:
I have checked all my receive location and its masking,it is working fine.
Actually it is working fine in dev server(snap-in problem is not occuring in dev server ) but when I import MSI and binding in UAT server.
It is not picking up the file from receive location.
I want to know one more thing :if my message box database is not working fine, will it receive the files from receive location.
    Prakash

For files not received by receive location. If the Receive Location is still enabled but files are not processed by Receive Location, then check whether the host instance  configured with your receive location is running. If the host instance is in
running state, restart the host instance and try.
Regarding the error in the admin console as shown in the image, people started to see this issue with admin console from BizTalk 2009 onwards. This happens in cases like you have done some activity with console and before its been refreshed it you do more
activities like expanding the node you will see this error. Sometimes WMI is bit slowly to refresh your admin console screen. Just wait for few seconds untill the WMI screen is rendered completely. Ensure you have all the cumulative updates installed for your
version of BizTalk and also ensure the service pack for your OS is updated.
Obviously if message box is not working, files will not be received/processed. But if message box is not in healthy state this would affect all other application not just one and in-fact it would affect entire BizTalk not just Receive Locations.
To start analysing this file not been processed by Receive Location, start with checking the host instance as mentioned.

  • 990fxa-gd80v2 having usb 2.0 issue

The problem is only with the 4 USB 2.0 slots that are on the I/O of the board. The USB 2.0 slots on my case (that I hooked up when installed) work fine and the USB 3.0 ports and the esata/USB 2.0 combo ports work fine. Windows will "unrecognize" and the quickly "recognize" these USB ports. It makes that 'sound' like you are unplugging something from the USB port and then plugging it back in again quickly. This will happen one time or several times untill the ports finally "die" completely and then later they become recognized again (maybe once, maybe several times)! I have moved all my connections to other slots but the problem still interferes because as the problem is recognized and unrecognized it pauses my mouse and keyboard when in use. Same thing with printer. When the problem happens it will cancel the action mid-print! I've already looked into it being a driver compatibility issue but the problem is restricted to the motherboard's 2.0 ports and nothing else. The board has a "de-bug" code thingy built in and the only code i get from it is 99. Since I have not been able to find any code lists for this MB anywhere, I have no clue what this means. To me (tech-level medium) this is clearly a manufacturer defect.
At this point I'm going to attempt RMA. I don't know what else to do unless someone, anyone can suggest a better solution. Any help is appreciated. This really makes my opinion of MSI become something undesirable. This just might be the last and only MSI product I ever buy!

Thank you for the suggestion about the non-conductive surface. It's worth a try anyway. If this could be the problem then what could be the problem causing it or the solution to it? Bad grounding of the I/O plate on my case or bad grounding of the case itself?

  • Which shoul i use? realtek alc 650 or sb live value?

yah i haven't found any decent comparisons or reviews that pit these two sound controllers together and i'm hoping that someone could possibly answer this for me . . .
i have the soundblaster live! value card and there's the realtek alc 650 sound controller on my mobo . . . which one of these two do u guys think is better to use?
can someone compare the two? like which one uses more cpu load, sound quality, etc . . .

Yes ... I am having problems having sound in my video capture ... I downloaded the new SB Live drivers for XP and I found the extraction in my one of the local settings folder.  I've tried different ways to acquire sound in my video captures.
I switched back to the SB Live Value card a few hours ago.
I've got sound now but kind of hit and miss.
I use a Maxtor ATA 133 card and have four ATA 133 60 GB drives sitting on the bottom of my tower. Plus a 40GB and 60GB mounted normallly.  I do use the KT4V-L mobo and the XP 2500-Barton.
HP 9100 cd writer and Sony DRU-500a DVD Burner.
I'm using the LAN on board for DSL.
FANS: One is mounted in back ... I cut the holes out to increase air flow.
Another fan is mounted on side panel ... shooting outside air towards my CPU.
RAM is one stick of Kingston KVR333X64C25/512 DDR Ram
BIOS setting is FSB 166 setting.
System - Mouse hasn't froze up yet ... when it does happen I usually here a small faint sound ... "ping"-"poing" and then the mouse is moves again.  Audio and video playback is also affected when this happens.
I've changed my swap file to one of my 60 GB ATA 133 drives only. Setting is 1000 MB and C-Drive is not included.
I'm really frustated with this freezing up problem.  I've got too many new parts to figure out what is wrong.
WIN XP - KT4V-L MOBO - and new DDR ram are all installed in same time period.
Any suggestions?? ... Mouse hasn't froze up yet after changing Swap file settings.
Have you been to the Black Viper website ???

Someone said about not beeing able to run 3dmark03 sound test with the realtek - right! the SB Live! has 32 hardware voices, can take a much more number of audio inputs (if you have some 5Ghz CPU u can run about 32 winamps at the same time ).
Hmm but you have a VIA... that has problems with SB Live!

  • GTX 660 TI with 990fxa-gd80v2 3 way sli issue

Just added a third video card and 1200w PSU to my rig. The card shows up as "windows generic display adapter" (or some verbage similar to that. I wiped the Nvidia drivers and re-installed the latest release. The card still doesn't work (says it needs driver update, when you try to update - it says it is up to date.) When the PC reboots after the driver update, it shuts off video display after the Windows 8 splash screen. I have to power off and restart. After the third restart, it goes into windows repair mode. It tries to roll back to a previous version and then cannot complete the task. I continue to Windows and it goes all the way through. The card still doesn't show and SLI settings are reverted to defaults and not saved. Are there BIOS settings for 3 way SLI that need to be changed? It worked fine with 2 way. Do I need to update a driver for the PCI controller? Clear CMOS? Any help or ideas appreciated. Hoping to not have to do a re-install of Windows 8.
    Parts list -
    MSI 990FXA-gd80v2
    PNY GTX 660 TI (3)
    Ultra X4 1200w PSU
    AMD FX-8350
    G.Skill Sniper 32gb 1866
    Intel 520 180gb SSD
    2 TB Segate HDD
    Kingston 128bg SSD
    Alienware/Dell water cooler

New build from Win 7 to Win 8. It was fine with 2 way and my old PSU. When I would 3Dmark the rig, it would restart after the combined test - So I figured the PSU was getting sketchy (everything but the PSU and case was new at this point.) So, in other words - Win 8 with 2-way with old PSU was ok. Win 8 with 3-way and new PSU is not working yet.

  • New rig 990fxa-gd80v2 wont post debug code 19

I am building a new rig for my gf's brother and i can not get my new mobo to post. I am getting debug code 19. I couldn't find a lot of info on what the code means but from what I have seen its apparently a problem with the BIOS not being updated for my new CPU. I have tried all of my current working components from my rig on the board as well and it still showed code 19. Here are the specs on the rig.
    MOBO 990fxa-gd80v2
    CPU AMD FX-8320
    PSU 500W RAIDMAX
GPU EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB
    RAM G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Like I said however I took apart my rig completely and switch all my known working parts onto the new MOBO and got the same error code. So I am not sure if the issue is really an outdated BIOS because it wouldnt post with my AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok so it has been a few days since I last posted because I have been busy but I just finally had time to work on it. I essentially took out my mobo and replaced it with the new one that had been posting code 19. Using all my known working components from my computer including my PCU I am still recieving the same error code, even after moving my known working RAM into each different slot.I'm getting quite desperate here now and just am plain lost in trying to understand what seems to be the issue. I'd be very grateful for anyadditional information/tips here. Thanks.

  • 990FXA-GD80V2 and water cooling

    Hi,
Been combing the web trying to find an answer for my question and stumbled upon this forum. I figured you might know. I just purchased a combo pack on Newegg that had a MSI 990FXA-GD80V2 motherboard and AMD FX-8150. Seeing how the stock fan/heatsink barely keeps the heat in check i was looking for alternatives. What i want to know is if the motherboard would work well with the CPU cooled by lets say CORSAIR H80 water cooler. I know from recently help a friend with his rig that without the normal CPU fan some motherboards them selves overheat. Only way we fixed his was to bolt a separate fan on the mobo for that issue.
So a recap on my question. Does the motherboard its self have adequate cooling to allow the CPU to have watercooling?
    Thanks

The question of heat is covered in a few areas.. air flow of the case itself.. to include amount of fans, and if you plan to run, in your case the FX-8150 overclocked or not. At stock speeds the CPU cooler that came with the CPU will work fine.. possible with even a small OC. If you are planning to OC and/or play with variable OC's and testing.. a better CPU cooler is the way to go. The new water cooling systems like the H80/100 and other self contained water coolers are good. Better than a self built water cooling system, there is less chance of leakage.
If you take the time to look at CPU cooler reviews... a lot of good air coolers are cooling better than a cooling system like the H80. A real nice thing about the coolers like the H80 is airflow in the case. It also takes a case that can handle the size of some of the air coolers. A lot of them are huge in size. I have a friend who has both the H80 and H100. He tells me that he likes the cooling of the H100 better. He does serious Overclocking. I also own the 990FXA-GD80 and have an FX-8150 on the way. I am using a Zalman 9900. I plan to continue using it.. that said, my friend is trying to talk me into an H100. My case is the Antec 280 and it is possibly the largest case on the markey with 7 120mm fans running, plus the CPU cooler. If you look at the bottom of posts we list our equipment. Being new here, you might not have read the posting guide. If you give us your information, how you plan to use and overclock or not we can give a better answer.
To focus on your question.. like Svet answered... yes, the H80 should do a good job.
    Good Luck

  • 990FXA-GD80V2 Debug Code "FF" and What it Means.

So my uncle stopped by today and said that his 990FXA-GD80V2 wouldn't post and I asked him if he went through the usual checks like re-seating the graphics card, resetting the CMOS, and trying only 1 memory module. He had done all that and no post, he then told me that he got a debug code of FF on the readout.
So I thought I would search the web and see what I could find out. "Nothing".
So I contacted MSI USA Technical Support and the technician let me know that "FF" Means no system input "Power".
If you get the "FF" code, try removing power and re-seating both the 24pin (Main) and 8pin (CPU) power connectors, if you have another power supply try that. Also check the CPU for any damaged pins.
If neither of those two options work, the board comes with a 3 year warranty and you should send it in for RMA. (Directly to MSI, not reseller).
If this has been posted somewhere else, my apologies, but I did search for it.

Thanks for the report, I think we saw a bad cpu do this as well but most often a bad bios.
Someone had told me it was actually supposed to be for future use, but each time it comes up, it isn't good.

  • 990fxa-gd80v2 cpu voltage stability issues

I have had this board now for 2 mths and have noticed a problem with the cpu voltage.  It fluctuates alot ie: set at a voltage it will fluctuate +/- .03-.06 volts. The most significant and generally highest fluctuation is at load where it will drop down usually .05 volts consistently. This greatly affects any adjustments one would make for OC as the maximum voltage for my AMD FX 8350 is 1.55v.
Point being: Is there anything in the works where MSI is addressing this issue.  Is there a solution? or is this just a flaw we are meant to accept.
I just want to know that something is being done.  I chose MSI for this motherboard because all my previous MoBo ran flawlessly.

It is not looking good.  I hope I am wrong but I get the feeling from email response others have gotten that they may be moving on and these issues are a lost cause.  Again I HOPE I AM WRONG.
On the plus side I have managed to get 4.6 easily stable and no real issues with the particular setups I use so Guess I can bide my time.

  • Anything I should know about the 990FXA-GD80V2 before purchase?

I'm considering getting a new motherboard in the next few days or so, and currently have my eye on the 990FXA-GD80V2. I plan to pair it with the FX-8350 and a R7850, and likely use Linux.
I was wondering if there was anything in-particular I should know before buying this board. For example, I recall reading somewhere that someone had to do a BIOS update to get their FX-8350 to use the right voltage or something.
I'm doing a good bit of research myself, but I'd like to avoid another experience like the one I had with ASRock.

Quote from: miklkit on 28-August-14, 22:46:41
I read your post about Asrock.  Not good, but no 970 board is up for the 8350.  Only experts with mega cash to spend on exotic cooling can keep that combination alive.
The MSI GD80 is a solid cool running board that can handle any FX cpu.  My 8350 will bench and run at over 5ghz with air cooling but is stable at 4.7 ghz for everyday use.  The 9590 is good for 5ghz for every day use.   Because the GD80 runs so cool air cooling can be used making this a very cost effective combination.  I am currently using an ASUS Sabertooth board and it runs hot.  Water cooling is required to overclock it and I will be going back to the GD80 soon.
MSI is very conservative with their bios settings, which means that you can only run stock clocks unless the utilities provided on their cd are used.  But last December they castrated those utilities too!  I prefer to use ClickBiosII, and here is a link to a working version.
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gpalg0tpyyfcivy/AAA_vvHgq7MUkdcXPH3Nh5rWa/CLICKBIOSII.7z?dl=0
Thanks for the feedback. I'm curious though, what exactly about the ASUS Sabertooth board makes it run hotter than the GD80? Would figure the CPU temps to be relatively the same, but maybe you're talking about another component like the VRMs or NB?
Also, what's that ClickBiosII thing? Is it a custom BIOS? From quick-glance at the archive, perhaps it's a BIOS-configuration tool that can be used from Windows to directly-alter the BIOS?
I put in the order for the GD80V2 a little bit ago; seems it'll be a manufacturer-refurbished board. Does anyone happen to have any first-hand experience as to how warranty is handled with such hardware? From my understanding, it seems used hardware carries whatever warranty existed since the hardware's purchase date, but refurbished hardware carriers only a 90-day warranty. Is the 90-day limit true, and if so, is it a "hard" limit (as in, you get absolutely 0 support after 90 days), or perhaps handled on case-by-case (MSI "might" be kind enough to do the RMA after 90 days depending on issue)?

  • 990FXA-GD80V2 Very slow internet.

My symptoms at their best involve small bursts of internet in between total inability to send or receive any data. This has been going on for about a month now, getting progressively worse. Most of the time I get very little bandwidth, barely enough to navigate to this forum. If it tells you anything, I had to wait for the smiley face emotes to load in the start new topic page. This isn't a problem on my ISP's end, every other computer in the house is getting along just fine.
When I first completed this build everything was lightning fast. It appears to be deteriorating over time, and I can't for the life of me pin it down to any particular software issue. I've done thorough sweeps for spyware and viruses (preboot, postboot, with multiple programs) and found nothing that should be clogging up my system.
I had one ray of hope when I tried disabling NetworkGenie. For a few hours I had no noticeable losses in my bandwidth, though still much slower than it should be. I was playing FarCry 3 for a while and tried to normally use the internet when I noticed it was slow/nonexistent once again.
It may also be important to note that I never see my system tray say I am disconnected from the internet. When I seem to be completely disconnected I have watched the send/receive packets to see that very very few will occasionally send, and none receive, until I get a spurt of bandwidth again if I am lucky.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Well could be a few things.
I am betting on software, the virus program itself or just something didn't install properly.
    Here are some ideas:
1.) Eliminate software - re-install the os (or refresh it if it is win 8)
2.) Remove the mainboard from the case and place it on wood or plain cardboard (non conductive surface) and re-build it there and test.
    This will eliminate any shorts.
3.) While this problem seems limited to Intel NIC's, check the mac address and make sure it matches the sticker on the nic.
4.) Update the mainboard bios: http://us.msi.com/product/mb/990FXA-GD80V2.html#/?div=BIOS

    Hi,
What are the payment terms on the invoices? If these are not IMMEDIATE, and the payment is not due, the system would not pick them up until they are due.
What is the payment method on the invoice and in the PPR? Are you running the PPR for electronically paid invoices but the invoices are set to be paid by check?
Are there any holds on the suppliers you are trying to pay?
What are the other parameters you gave when running the PPR? It helps to check those against the invoice to make sure they would qualify.
Information about the pararameters you are using and one of the invoices to be selected would be helpful.
