XP? Which of the five editions of XP do you have (home, pro, media center, tablet, or 64-bit XP 2003)? Professional and 64-bit 2003 are the only ones that support Oracle Server. Of these two, there's still a catch. If you were running XP 64-bit 2003, then you might run into compatibility issues between Oracle Server and your CPU; I think you would be limited to Itanium, not Xeon or AMD64.

  • How do I get my addresses back after an Archive and Install procedure?

I recently had to archive and install because something was really wrong with my desktop. Now the desktop works fine but how do I get my address book application to open with all my former data in it? The address book application opens but there is NOTHING in it except apple's card and my user card? What I am asking is how to restore all my data after an archive and install procedure. Thank you in advance!

    whatrulookinat wrote:
Yes I archived and installed with the disk that came with my MBP and then reinstalled snow leopard and then did software upgrades....
you shouldn't have done that. if you wanted to reinstall snow leopard (why btw?) you should have just reinstalled it over the existing snow leopard installation directly. installing an older OS version over the newer one ( like leopard over snow) is not recommended by apple and can lead to problems. it also does not let you preserve users. your old home directory should be located inside the Previous system folder. see this link on how to extract your data from it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2196
specifically, for the address book you need to copy the folder homedirectory/library/application support/address book from the archived home directory to the corresponding location on the new one.

  • Re-install procedure for Premiere Pro CS 5.5

My instalation of Win7 Premiere Pro CS 5.5 is corrupted and I have lost the ability to handle HD files/projects. I can still process SD projects. I have also lost the ability to capture HD video over Firewire (no video, only sound) and I can't work with my earlier completed HD projects. I can't export work areas.
I don't know how to resolve this problem. I have tried rolling back Windows without success.  Any suggestions?
I think I need to reinstall Premiere Pro CS5.5
Is there a detailed procedure for the efficient removal and reinstalation.of Premiere Pro using my CS5.5 CDs.
    Roger

If you are going to re-Install Premiere on the SAME computer, would it not be better to suspend activation to avoid using an activation "life"?
Indeed a post in this thread
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3650498
by an Adobe staff member who was involved in setting up the activation system, states that if you are re-installing on the same computer, there is no need to de-activate , and no "life" will be used up.
Hunt thinks that we have 8 lives, I am sure I was once told by Adobe support that we have 20.

  • Remote Attachment Store Install Procedure

I installed our remote Attachment Store on the same physical server as the backend MySQL DB. The procedure I used was to install the CalDav component (v7.2-4.19) from CommsSuiteR7u2. I then ran configure-as, but no init-config. Is this the correct procedure? This seems to work fine. The problem is that it cannot be patched up to Patch 142785-05 for the latest Calendar code (v7u2-5.06). The Patch will not install because the prepatch script will fail.
    Checking installed patches...
    Executing prepatch script...
-- The patch requires the saveState file from a previous install
The prepatch script exited with return code 1.
So what is the proper procedure to install and patch a remote Attachment Store?

This installation case is not handle properly in the prepatch script of the patch. I'll file a bug for it. In the mean time, do this:
    1. on remote attachment store host, stop-as
    2. copy the <cs7base>/lib/jars/ashttpd.jar file from the Calendar Server host where you have the latest patch applied to the remote attachment store host
    3. on remote attachment store host, start-as

  • Audigy 2 Zs Platinum Install Procedure help needed

Namaste all, this is my first post and I am new to Creative products, as I might be the only person in Nepal with the Platinum package! I have an Intel 95 chipset motherboard with that sucky Realtek soundchip, so my brother gave me this Creative product he got from the USA. It looks grand, but the Quick Start confused me, it says to do the install of hardware and then when Windows finds the new hardware to cancel, and then install the Creative software from CD.
Well, from expierence with other hardwares this is not so good a procedure, as u get unknown devices if something goes wrong with the software install, and I know the disk is almost 2 years old. So I downloaded all the updates for SB350 on this site (a whooping 85+ megabytes) and my question is this:
Which software do I install first, the old or the new? And it seems to me it would be better to have drivers there first, or should I not be second guessing the Creative Engineers?
Can anyone tell me what exactally what to do? There is a ton of softwares in the package I can see, and I am wondering what to do now to prevent problems later.
Well, thanks and I look forward to hanging out in the forum to learn about my cool new sound package.

katman, yes i did, i can bring up mediasource from the creative volume icon in the status bar...player, organizer, Go! and Go! launcher. wow, way too much software...
So I am hoping the update makes all this stuff look better...does it's The Mediasource Go! is version 2.00.06 with a theme engine of V3.0.37...but the Organizer has an about screen that says Creative Media Source 2.02.05. I can't make sense of this but if I get the latest versions on this system at least I can evaluate and make some intelligent choices before i remove it
I really don't get the two icons, creative volume and Mediasource gO, on right click they both have almost the same choices!
Anyway, thanks for your help...what to do next? I am a freak about making sure all the drivers and software are the latest on my machines.
And now I found a hardware problem - or a user problem - how do you get line in 2 on the front of the dri've to work? Mine does not seem to....
    thanks!

  • Downloading and install procedures on iMac

Downloading programs in iMac is also different from doing the same in PC/Windows where I first would save the downloaded file and then install the program.
I have the impression when one downloads a program in iMac, that it is automatically installed and placed in Applications?
I just downloaded "Maintidget" however I did not have a chance to install this program. It already shows up in Dashboard and I can use it. However I can not locate the program in Applications and wonder where is placed, which I think I need to know when I ever decide to uninstall "Maintidget".
It takes some time to get accustomed to the new world of iMac!
Thank you for helping me finding my way.
    Harry

I can usually tell how a program needs to be installed by looking at the name of the downloaded file.
If the file is a .dmg then it is a digital image and will mount on the desktop when double clicked. It will either automatically open a window or you will have to double click on the mounted image to see the window. Inside the window you will usually see a file like "program.app". This would be dragged to the applications folder and be considered "Installed".
If the file is named something like "program installer.app" then you'll need to run the installer program to properly set up the program for your system.
Many people transfer .app files over the internet inside a Zipped folder so that the resources on the file are not damaged and so that the program will run properly when installed to a Mac.
If the file you download is a Zip file you will need to unzip it by double clicking on it just to see if you got a .dmg or just a folder with a program.app in it.
As a general rule, most of the programs you see on a Mac do not need any installers at all and will run from just about anywhere (best practice is to put them in the Applications folder so that updaters will know where to look). The main exceptions are programs like MS Office and Adobe programs which seem to put files all over your system, including fonts, etc.
As far as widgets go, if they don't install automatically then you just double-click on the file and the Mac will ask you if you want to install it.

  • SAP EHP1 for Solution Manager 7.0 - Post Install Procedure

    Hello Folks:
I completed Sol Manager 7.0 EHP1 installation on Win 2008 R2 with MS SQL in a sandbox environment. This is the first time I ever installed SAP on my own and i am in the process of performing post installation steps from Installation Guide.
In the install guide, there is no mention of creating a new client ex: 100. Could you please, provide a list of tasks that generally needed to perform after the installation is completed and before doing any configuration in Solution manager.
I have some very basic idea on the Basis but while going thru Installation Guide I am not sure if there any steps that generally need to perform to complete the installation.  My goal is to complete the Sol Mgr installation first and then start preparing for ECC 6.0 Installation.
    Thanks a lot in Advance.

    Hi,
First - the basic post installation steps are:
    1. sick t-code need to execute
    2. se06 --> Perform Post-Installation Actions
    3. RZ10 --> Utilities --> Import profiles --> Of active servers
    4. execute sgen T-code --> This will take some time
    5. setup STMS
    6. create client (If custom required)
    7. Take backup of the system
For the solution manager client you could use the default created '001' client.
Next you need to run the solman_setup template which 'sets up' the SolMan for usage.
    Follow config guide at: https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000308502009E.PDF
For installing the ECC system, only a install key(from SMSY) is to be generated from SolMan. But if you want to use the SolMan effectively, suggest you to run the entire solman_setup.

    Hello Ramesh,
you should have a look at the SAP Instguide, and if it tells you to do as your colleagues say, open a ticket to SAP and ask, whether doing it the otherw ay could have spoiled your system. Anything but an official "yes, it's ok" won't help you.
For the other guys: have a loook at http://service.sap.com/instguides, there you can find all the guides you need.

  • Confused about Install procedure on new Mac Pro

With 10.4 on my old G4 I would put the DVD in, hit install and the machine would restart. The installer could come up and I could select the disk utility and do a repair disk and disk permissions from the install disk before my actual install. With my Mac Pro, when I hit install from the disk it goes right into the installation process. I began that process thinking it would first restart the machine and give me a choice to access the disc utility first, but it looked like it was going straight to install. So I stopped the dang thing quickly. Now I've got this .DS_Store icon on my desktop that won't go away. A few questions...
    1. How do I get to Disc Utility on the boot DVD and do maintenance?
    2. How do I get rid of the dang .DS_Store icon on my desktop?
    3. I'm experiencing quirky behavior on my Mac Pro, like jitters in Mail sometimes when I just open and start to scroll through notes in my inbox, slow opening of windows, etc., and my pointer suddenly going from the center of the screen to up to the top of the screen for no apparent reason. What is the best recommended repair and maintenance third-party utility for 10.6.3 Snow Leopard, to keep my Mac running optimally? I used to use SOCKS and Tech Tool Pro for 10.4.
Thank you so much for any help you can give me.
    Leonard

    Arch,
Every time I open Mail all the mail messages jitter for about 2 seconds, and my pointer, several times during the day, will jump up from, say, the middle of the screen to the top of the screen and I have to move it down. Odd. But it doesn't seem to be affected by how long I'm on the machine, or whether I just turn it on or whatever. Completely random. Plus, sometimes other drives won't open quickly... I mean I have another SATA drive that when I click on it, it won't open for about 6 or 7 seconds. The drive IS about 2 years old, it could be the drive, but it opened quickly on my old machine. That seems odd for a supposed speed demon like the Mac Pro. So I just wanted to run the Disk Utility from the install disk to try and see if that would stop these small issues. I brought a couple of apps over from my old machine. Photoshop CS and InDesign CS. I realize they aren't running optimum, and the new versions are native. But I can't afford them right now and I had several people tell me they will work, just slower. Is it just wrong to use them at all? These people are having no problems with them like I'm having. I did not use Migration Assistant. I'm using the mouse that came with my computer, with the scroll button top forward center. Yes, my only desire was to use the install disk to repair the disk as I thought a damaged disk would not repair itself as well as the install disk would. Would just a basic install work and get rid of these ghost icons?
    Thanks again for your help,
    Leonard

    From the LiveCD (in VirtualBox):
    # nano x
    <wrote these characters>
    # cat x | curl -F "sprunge=<-" http://sprunge.us
And they show up fine: http://sprunge.us/MKBj
    ăîşţâ
    ĂÎŞŢÂ
Until a better explanation comes along, I've added this info to the BG:
Don't worry if some of the letters show up as white squares or as other symbols. It's probably just the console font missing those glyphs. The glyph codes are correct and if you press the correct keys they will show up fine when (or if) you set up a graphical environment later.
