9i Installation Guidance request

Hi All,
I have installed the 9i Database on an external disk connected to my laptop running Windows XP.
i had difficulty logging into the database and the enterprise manager for the database.
Can anyone help with a document on how to install 9i Database apart from the Oracle installation guide.
Atleast information about the default admin user and passwords for the Enterprise Manager and the Database would help.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Pavan,
i had difficulty logging into the database If you post the exact error message we can help you!
how to install 9i Database apart from the Oracle installation guide.What's wrong with the documentation? Millions of people have used it successfully to install Oracle!
Do you have a specific question?
At least information about the default admin user and passwordsHave you had the required training to install and configure Oracle? Oracle is one of the world's most robust and flecible databases, and it's quite complex.
The default password in 9i for SYS is "change_on_install" and SYSTEM is "manager".
If you are having trouble with the general documentation, check-out Steve Karam's book "Easy Oracle Jumpstart", a good alternative for raw beginners . . .
Good Luck!
Hope this helps . . .

  • Installer is requesting old media

    I have a slight twist on a seemingly common issue...  I've found many many posts about additional installers requesting previous media to complete a built but none of them answers my exact situation.
    My main question is how do I get my installer to build if it can't find a valid installer for a driver component?
    My application was last developed on LV2012.  When attempting to build an installer for it, the installer
    asked for Device Drivers - August 2011.  That seems to be the one set of discs we don't have.
    It was decided to upgrade to LV 2013 and install the latest and greatest drivers, then build the installer.  We
    did, and the installer still asked for the same thing.  I did a mass compile on the project, scoured the project
    folders and ensured nothing pointed to any 2011 or 2012 version VIs.  Build again asked for the same thing.
    So I invested the 5hrs neccessary to download the NI Device Drivers - August 2011 from ni.com.  After running that installer, the drivers now are on my local drive.  Great!  But now when I run the installer and point to the folder as the location of the media, I get an error stating that the media provided does not have a valid installer.
    I looked at the folders and files in the driver location and all that is there is a Product folder.  All my other driver downloads have at least a setup.exe file, many readme.html files, and other SupportFiles, Documents, Install guides, etc..  None of that came down with the August 2011 drivers.  I tryed a few things as far as pointing the installer directly to the product folder to be installed (488, VISA, and Serial), and copying other setup executable in the top level driver folders.  None has worked yet.
    So I really have two questions:
    First, why is the app installer looking for 2011 drivers if everything is upgraded to 2013 drivers?
    Second, how do I get my installer to build if it can't find a valid installer for a August 2011 driver media?

    There is some dependanccy stuck on the 2011 DS1 media with the app builder for 2013  I have not inspected the 2013 SP1 release
    Hopefully you can get a DVD from your local NI guy and if you "Keep" the local copy you will only need to bump your head against this once.
    (Allways Allways keep old media handy)

  • Installation Guidance (WebLogic 10.3.5 / Oracle Forms,Reports 11.1.1.6)

    Goal : I am a designer/developer, have worked on already-installed systems for years, now between contracts and want/need to set up my own installation of Oracle Database 11g R2 database and development tools including Oracle Forms/Reports 11g (also SQL Developer and Application Express, but these come with the DB).
    Caveat : have not done an installation of the DB and development tools for years and I know a lot has changed.
    System : Windows 7 (64 bit), 6 GB RAM, 600 GB Hard Drive
    Here is an overview of the steps as I understand them from the documentation I've been able to find. I know there are lots of details for each step but I want to know if the overall order is right.
    1. Install DB (downloaded Oracle 11G Release 2, ready to install Enterprise Edition).
    2. Install Repository Creation Utility 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5.0) to set up the schemas for Fusion Middleware
    ** QUESTION ** where on earth does one find this? Anyone have a link for it? Or does it come with a larger patchset/installation set?
    3. Install Oracle WebLogic Server 11g (10.3.5)
    4. Install Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer Release 11g (11.1.1.2.0) but do not configure (advice given in documentation for 11.1.1.6 Patchset)
    5. Install and Configure 11.1.1.6 Patchset
    Any comments or suggestions welcome. Hope to avoid pitfalls if possible.
    Thanks in advance !

  • ASA 5505 Best Practice Guidance Requested

    I am hoping to tap into the vast wealth of knowledge on this board in order to gain some "best practice" guidance to assist me with the overall setup using the ASA 5505 for a small business client.  I'm fairly new to the ASA 5505 so any help would be most appreciated!
    My current client configuration is as follows:
    a) business internet service (cable) with a fixed IP address
    b) a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band router (currently setup as gateway and used for internet/WiFi access)
    c) a Cisco SG-500-28 switch
    d) one server running Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard (primary Domain Controller)
         (This server is currently the DNS and DHCP server)
    e) one server running Windows Server 2008 R2 (secondary Domain Controller)
    f) approximately eight Windows 7 clients (connected via SG-500-28 switch)
    g) approximately six printers connected via internal network (connected via SG-500-28 switch)
    All the servers, clients, and printers are connected to the SG-500-28 switch.
    The ISP provides the cable modem for the internet service.
    The physical cable for internet is connected to the cable modem.
    From the cable modem, a CAT 6 ethernet cable is connected to the internet (WAN) port of the Netgear N600 router.
    A Cat 6 ethernet cable is connected from Port 1 of the local ethernet (LAN) port on the N600 router to the SG-500-28 switch.
    cable modem -> WAN router port
    LAN router port -> SG-500-28
    The ASA 5505 will be setup with an "LAN" (inside) interface and a "WAN" (outside) interface.  Port e0/0 on the ASA 5505 will be used for the outside interface and the remaining ports will be used for the inside interface.
    So my basic question is, given the information above of our setup, where should the ASA 5505 be "inserted" to maximize its performance?  Also, based on the answer to the previous question, can you provide some insight as to how the ethernet cables should be connected to achieve this?
    Another concern I have is what device will be used as the default gateway.  Currently, the Netgear N600 is set as the default gateway on both Windows servers.  In your recommended best practice solution, does the ASA 5505 become the default gateway or does the router remain the default gateway?
    And my final area of concern is with DHCP.  As I stated earlier, I am running DHCP on Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard.  Most of the examples I have studied for the ASA 5505 utilize its DHCP functionality.  I also have done some research on the "dhcprelay server" command.  So I'm not quite sure which is the best way to go. First off, does the "dhcprelay server" even work with SBS 2011?  And secondly, if it does work, is the best practice to use the "dhcprelay" command or to let the ASA 5505 perform the DHCP server role?
    All input/guidance/suggestions with these issues would be greatly appreciated!  I want to implement the ASA 5505 firewall solution following "best practices" recommendations in order to maximize its functionality and minimize the time to implement.
    FYI, the information (from the "show version" command) for the ASA 5505 is shown below:

    Hey Jon,
    Again, many thanks for the info!
    I guess I left that minor detail out concerning the Guest network.  I have a second Netgear router that I am using for Guest netowrk access.  It is plugged in to one of the LAN network ports on the first Netgear router.
    The second Netgear (Guest) router is setup on a different subnet and I am letting the router hand out IP addresses using DHCP.
    Basic setup is the 192.168.1.x is the internal network and 192.168.11.x is the Guest network.  As far as the SBS 2011 server, it knows nothing about the Guest network in terms of the DHCP addresses it hands out.
    Your assumption about the Guest network is correct, I only want to allow guest access to the internet and no access to anything internal.  I like your idea of using the restricted DMZ feature of the ASA for the Guest network.  (I don't know how to do it, but I like it!)  Perhaps you could share more of your knowledge on this?
    One final thing, the (internal) Netgear router setup does provide the option for a separate Guest network, however it all hinges on the router being the DHCP server.  This is what led me to the second (Guest) Netgear router because I wanted the (internal) Netgear router NOT to use DHCP.  Instead I wanted SBS 2011 to be the DHCP server.  That's what led to the idea of a second (Guest) router with DHCP enabled.
    The other factor in all this is SBS 2011.  Not sure what experience you've had with the Small Business Server OS's but they tend to get a little wonky if some of the server roles are disabled.  For instance, this is a small busines with a total of about 20 devices including servers, workstations and printers.  Early on I thought, "nah, I don't need this IPv6 stuff," so I found an article on how to disable it and did so.  The server performance almost immediately took a nose dive.  Rebooting the server went from a 5 minute process to a 20 minute process.  And this was after I followed the steps of an MSDN article on disabling IPv6 on SBS 2011!  Well, long story short, I enabled IPv6 again and the two preceeding issues cleared right up.  So, since SBS 2011 by "default" wants DHCP setup I want to try my best to accomodate it.  So, again, your opinion/experiece related to this is a tremendous help!
    Thanks!

  • Wish to create an Installation Service Request for Field Service with Multiple S/N

    We are using Oracle 12.1.3 with Teleservice, Field Service and Installed Base. We ship multiple Serial Numbers in a given order then need to dispatch our Field Service technicians in order to install them at the customers locations. I am having a hard time thinking or figuring out the best way to record this in Oracle EBS. Using a Service Request is difficult as there is not a way to list multiple Serial Numbers that we are aware of. Any help or suggestions would be very welcomed.
    Thanks
    Jesse

    You are not able to add user input while working "My Activities" or "My Requests" in the portal.  They would have to use the Console, and then in the SR they would be able to update the User Input if that is where you wanted to store it.  I would
    create your own Activity Class (Inherit from Manual Activity) and add the fields for what you want, IP, Hostname etc.. then on the portal when the user request the vm map those values to that activity which is assigned to your network team. when they open
    their activity in the console they can add the value for ip.  There are many ways you can do this. Which way do you think your team will be most likely to follow.

  • SAP NW BPM Trial Version Installation Guidance

    Hi All,
    I am new to SAP NW BPM. I downloaded the trial version software for CE and NWDS.
    Steps followed for installation of CE:
    1. I installed CE by running "sapinst.exe" under SDNCEBPM7110PREVIEW\CompEnv\IM. I chose MaxDB as database.
    2. For additional components the guide says,run the same "sapinst.exe" and use "Continue Old Installation" option.
    I did the same thing, but after few steps, it asked me to either recreate the database schema or rename.  Is this normal? Or I missed something?
    I selected "recreate" option and after it prompted for Administrator password, I gave the password. But, it is giving error as
    "Usage: TestAdminPassword <adminuser> <password> <hostname> <p4 port>"
    Now, I hit a dead end. Please help me out as how to go ahead with the installation.
    Thanks,
    Swapna.

    Do not continue old isntall, start a new one, and use a different name for DB for example CE2...
    And if you want you can delete old db instance using dbmcli.
    Kind Regards.

  • Client 11g silent installation guidance

    Hello everyone,
    I am just starting my journey into the world of Oracle. Typically it has not been a smooth start hence my post here.
    I have been asked to arrange a silent install of the 11g Client (v11.1.0.6.21 specifically) onto a Windows XP machine. I diligently did some reading on the net as there is zero documentation or install media here - just the installation files. I managed to create a response file using "setup.exe -record -destinationFile newbie.rsp", modified some minor settings and tried to:
         setup.exe -silent -noconfig -nowait -responsefile "c:\newbie.rsp"
    Unfortunately I just cannot get the text-based "Oracle Universal Installer" window to hide during the install, regardless of what I put in the response file. So I am not doing very well on the "silent install" front.
    Then I found this thread:     Oracle Client 11g Release 2 silent installation.
    However the installer I have doesn't seem to have the "save the current session as a record file" option.
    So, would someone be kind enough to point me in the direction of some up to date doco I can read please? I am keen to learn all about this but I just can't seem to find a place to start.
    Any suggestions are greatly received and appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Troy

    Thanks for the swift response Ansiktet!
    +>>There is an default response file provided in the installation directory,+
    Great. The only file & folder structure I have starts from:
         \install
              \access\...
              \images\...
              \reource\....
              access_setup.bat
              addLangs.bat
              oraparam.ini
              oui.exe
              unzip.exe
         \stage
              \Actions\...
              \Components\...
              \Queries
              install1.jar
              invDetails.properties
              products.xml
              shiphomeinfo.properties
              shiphomeproperties.xml
         setup.exe
    I have had a look through and can't find a sample response file. Does this file & folder structure match what you were expecting I should have? And if so, where might I find the sample please?
    +>> you can make it easy for you and just edit this one, its quite self-explaining.+
    I found a few examples on the net and the "-record" option generated a very nice one for me to start from.
    The problem is, regardless of what I put in, the OUI command-line style window always seems to be displayed.
    I have put in lines such as:
         FROM_LOCATION="\\Software\Apps\Third party\Oracle\Client 11g\stage\products.xml"
         ACCEPT_LICENSE_AGREEMENT=true
         SHOW_SPLASH_SCREEN=false
         SHOW_WELCOME_PAGE=false
         SHOW_RELEASE_NOTES=false
         SHOW_SUMMARY_PAGE=false
         SHOW_CUSTOM_TREE_PAGE=false
         SHOW_COMPONENT_LOCATIONS_PAGE=false
         SHOW_INSTALL_PROGRESS_PAGE=false
         SHOW_REQUIRED_CONFIG_TOOL_PAGE=false
         SHOW_CONFIG_TOOL_PAGE=false
    +>> Then you run it with the same command you used before.+
    The comment in the other thread implied this method has been superceeded. Are you familiar with the newer method and where I might find some doco on it (to educate myself)?
    Thanks again,
    Troy

  • Installer Build Requestion DAQmx 8.6

    I am attemping to build an installer for an exe.  The exe build was successful but when I try to build the installer it asks for "DAQmx 8.6, Disk 1" I have inserted the disk without any luck, the error doesn't state the specific file it is looking for.  The installer builds successfully if I don't include DAQmx as an additional installer.  I have also tried mass complie, creating a new project, fresh builds (exe and installer), and even repairing LabVIEW.  I am using LV 8.5.1 and have DAQmx 8.7 on my machine.  Is there anyway to tell the installer to use DAQmx 8.7 rather than 8.6?

    Hi martym,
    Have you seen this article?
    Why Do I Get A "Missing Distribution" Error When Trying to Build an Installer from LabVIEW 8.0?
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C3666BA408F81E59862570D20056E692?OpenDocument
    My guess is that, when you include DAQmx 8.7, there is some shared component that hasn't been updated from DAQmx 8.6.  Inserting the original 8.6 install disc should fix this, but it may be that you have had a different version of 8.6 (such as 8.6.0f6) on your system than on your disc (you can check the full version number in Measurement & Automation Explorer under the software tab).
    I would recommend installing the latest version of DAQmx (8.7.1)
    http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/965/lang/en
    to see if that updates the component and fixes the problem.  If not, please create a log when you try to build the installer and post it here by:
       1. Navigate to the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.X directory.
       2. Open up the LabVIEW.ini file and copy the "CDK.EnableLog=true" text to the bottom of the file. Enabling this feature will cause a detailed debug log to be written to your temp directory.
       3. Save the changes and close the ini file.
       4. Attempt to build your installer
    The debug log should be located in the %temp% directory of your computer (%...% means a computer variable). To determine where this temp directory is located, follow the steps below:
       1. Select Start » Run, type in "cmd" and then press OK.
       2. Type "set" in the command prompt. This will return all of your computer's variable names.
       3. Look for TEMP in the list of variable names. You should see something like "TEMP=C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp".
       4. Navigate to this directory using Windows Explorer. You should see a file named "Name.log" where "name" is the name of your build specification. For example, you might see "My Installer.log" if the name of your build specification is "My Installer".

  • CS4 Installation Recommendations requested

    I've searched the forum, but am still confused.
    I'm running CS3 Web Premium on Vista 32. There are aspects of some programs, especially FW, that don't play well with Vista, apparently.
    I have the opportunity to install a new (not upgrade) copy of CS4 Design Premium with a new licence and am hoping for a clean install.
    I welcome any advice you wish to share.
    These questions occurred to me.
    Should I uninstall CS3 first?
    If yes, I gather I should 'deactivate' the install first.
    Should I then run the CS3 Clean Script?
    At the risk of asking too many questions in one post:
    Will those DW CS3 extensions I've been using work with DW CS4?
    Will the uninstall delete them? Should I save that folder somewhere else on the disc first to copy back later?
    Thanks.

    Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but have had company for last
    couple of days.
    *Further suggestions if you are still having problems with your CS4 install.
    1. Download and install the Adobe Support Advisor from
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406692.html
    a. Read the error messages it produces and see if this gives you any further
    insight. Send me a copy if you like and at least, if it is similar to
    problems I have had, I can possibly save you some time not making the same
    errors I made.
    2. Download and follow the instructions to remove selective color profiles

    3. Consider installing your files from the desktop rather than from the

  • InDesign installation problem - requests serial number

    I just subscribed for Creative Cloud in order to get Photoshop and InDesign in particular. Photoshop works, but I cannot get InDesign to function. When I try to start the application, it says my trial period has expired (which is the case - long time ago I had the trial on my computer) and requests for serial number. Even if the application should obviously be included in my Creative Cloud subscription, I cannot get past this. Could you please advice? Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Little_Indiana,
    You might try uninstalling and reinstalling
    For Uninstall
    Control Panel > Programs & Features (Windows 7)
    Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (XP)
    Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers (Mac OS X)
    and then reinstall using Adobe Application Manager from the Start Menu (Win) or Applications folder (Mac)

  • VMM installation aborts, requesting Deployment Tools and Win PreInst-env as pre-requisites - but both are INSTALLED

    As the title says, VMM installer is giving me grief for no apparent reason.
    I have downloaded and installed the prerequisites!
    This is seriously slowing down production here, only 154 days left on this Win2012 server Standard Evaluation install. :-)
    Will have to abort this whole server lab if I can't get past this ROADBLOCK in the next day or two...
    any hints would be greatly appreciated!

    rotech8 I think I managed to eliminate this issue. I'm not sure what was causing it in the first place but when I did the following I was able to get past the pre-req problem:
    1. Restart the 2012 server you're trying to install VMM on
    2. Run update for server 2012 (my instance found MANY updates when I forced it to check)
    3. Restart again
    4. Try the VMM installation (run setup.exe as admin)
    5. It should then get passed problem of the pre-req check....at least this worked for me!

  • OSX Novice - Guidance requested - Library Folder

    Hi. I am a newbie on OSX and really just learning my way. I'm looking for some guidance on the library folders. I've searched on this forum but can't find what I was looking for. Basically a couple of months back (when I had just bought the Mac) my three year old grabbed the mouse and a library folder was pulled out of place. I'm not sure from where. At the time, I put the folder back in documents. I see no real problems on a day to day basis other than new widgets lose their customisation. I have a Library folder under the HD, one under system and one under my user name. I also now have this one sitting in documents....but I have a feeling it should be elewhere (maybe Applications??) Contents of this folder are similar but not an exact match to the one under my user name - for example this folder has Widgets in it, the one under my name does not. My question is this - where should this folder really be? And if it's not doing a whole lot of harm - should I move it back or not? Thanks for your inputs.

    If it was the user's Library folder that got moved, the next time you restarted a brand new one was created. So open the errant one and your regular user Library folder side by side, and add back anything that is only in the now redundant ~/Documents/Library folder to the normal ~/Library folder. If the Mac was new I would guess that the original didn't contain anything like mail or bookmarks that were critical--after several months of use you probably don't want to replace the current stuff with the old stuff! But you will want things that are in the old one, like the Widgets you mention, so move those sorts of things. When you are confident there is nothing left in it you need you can trash it.
