9i on Redhat Linux 8: 9i won't shutdown automatically during OS shutdown

Question

Hello. I have 9.2.0.1.0 on Redhat Linux 8.0. After a lot of hassle, I finally got it starting automatically on OS startup. Now, the instance just won't shutdown during OS shutdown. The dbora script is fine; I could start/shutdown the instance using it. The rc?.d/K??dbora script works fine too; I could use it to shutdown the instance. But if I shutdown the OS, the instance just won't shutdown automatically. Any clue?

Hi,
RedHat checks for a file on /var/lock/subsys/<script name> to later execute the corresponding shutdown script.
In your startup script you must create a file in that directory, referencing the name of your script. For example, if your script is called dbora, you must use this instruction to create this file:
touch /var/lock/subsys/dbora
at the end of the 'start' code of your dbora script.
And, you must put the instruction
rm -f /var/lock/subsys/dbora
at the end of the 'stop' code of your dbora script.
For example, your dbora script could look like this:
case "$1" in
start)
... // your initialization code here
touch /var/lock/subsys/dbora
stop)
... // your shutdown code here
rm -f /var/lock/subsys/dbora
... // other code
