9i RAC DBs management notes/documents

Looking for some good source to study for 9i RAC DBs administration...

It depend om what OS you using, for Linux OCFS is preferred. But I feel NFS( like NetApps) is best to use for 9i/10g RAC.
Have a look on following article

  • Lotus Notes documents migration into Solution Manager

We have been using Lotus notes application for maintaining only documentation in our landscape. But now, the plan is to move all the documentation from Lotus notes to SAP Solution Manager and use it as a document management system from now....
Could anyone please answer the following queries:
    1) Does LSX environment help/enhance the migration ?. If not, are there any tools/accelerators/functions/automatic methods for mas uploading?
    2) This documentation is not project specific documentation. Where do you think this must go in Solution Manager?
In the custom area of BPR?. If yes, please do let me know the procedure for the same.
    3) Would it be possible to link the documents to functional domains/ business scenarios/ business processes in the BPR?
    4) Lotus notes provides access to all the versions (Draft/Approved/Reviewed) of a document. Would it be possible to have the same features even in Solution Manager?
    5) What all document types does Solution Manager recognize?.
I think the Lotus notes documents can be converted to 'Word' format and then put in Solution Manager. Besides this, is there any other common format which is recognized by both the tools?
    6) Standard SAP Solution manager does not provide indexed search. So, in order to retrieve a document later what indexing nomenclature/guidelines do you recommend?
Has anyone done/faced with this kind of requirement. The idea now is to use Solution manager as a document management system. The efforts/process/timelines information if already known would be of great help to start with for us....
Could you also provide the trade offs b/n Solution Manager and SAP knowledge warehouse (KW)?
    Hoping for some replies ...

we also had the same requirement to migration from LN to SolMan Documentation base but there is no such tool (yet?)
What you can do you can migrate from any ARIS like platform to SolMan:
    http://en.sap.info/ids-scheer-announces-migration-program-to-aris-platform/4058
You do have versioning in SolMan and you can upload any kind of document via SOLAR01
regarding the indexing you can either use SAP SES or connect TREX, this is documented in the customizing (SPRO)
TREX will also be the prerequisite to make use of KM in SolMan

  • In-place upgrade of Enterprise Manager for RAC databases is not supported

upgrading 2 node RAC from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2003 64 bit. I got the following:
In-place upgrade of Enterprise Manager for RAC databases is not supported in this release
Now I cannot log in to the database control as sys with sysdba role . I get "invalid username/password" error
I can login as a dba user
I also get a java error after I log in, some thing about class not found, but then I'm in and I can do everything that I try, although I haven't tried scheduling a backup yet
Can I upgrade EM to 10.2.0.3?
    If so, how?

    On the patchset readme...
11.3 Upgrade of Oracle Enterprise Manager Not Supported
When you start Oracle Database Upgrade Assistant to upgrade 10.2.0.1 database to 10.2.0.3 patch set, the following error occurs:
Inplace upgrade of Enterprise Manager is not supported for RAC databases is not supported in this release
    Workaround:
    Ignore warning.
If you drop and recreate the EM repository?
1). emca -deconfig dbcontrol db repos drop
2). emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
Be careful, doing this put the database on QUIESCE mode.

  • RAC DB creation Notes

Any body has notes to create RAC DB , version is 10g Cluster & storage is Varitas
I am used to create RAC DBs with dbca on oracle Clusterware and ASM...How this is different on Varitas cluster and storage?

On the linux and windows environments there is the OCFS, which will give you a Cluster File System, so at this point you'll have a file system. But protection relies on the kind of redundancy you have configured for your shared storage. On the ASM issue, this performs tasks such as mirroring and stripping for load balancing and fail over.
ASM is a volume manager for Oracle Datafiles Only, so the difference is that Oracle scope is only at the database storage level, meanwhile veritas is a complete file system.

  • Records management and Document builder in SRM with PS

    Hi,
We are implementing SRM 5.0 with PS ( Public section), can any one share any experience and documentation about Records management and Document builder in SRM with PS.
    Thank you
    Sreedhar Vetcha

    Hi Chris,
I am having the same issue as Patrizia while using BSP, SRM_DEMO_RECORD & SRM_DEMO_BSPEXT, to search/display, maybe update later the records, documents, and notes that are stored in RM. I have read all the documentation  described in your messages as to how to customize web display BSP application using these 2 BSPs, srm_demo_record & srm_demo_bspext.
I tested SRM_DEMO_RECORD with <srm:element> tag embbeded in the layout page, but it lists only the records that associated to a given RMS_ID and SPS_ID, and I wasn't able to get it to display the associated document and notes for a selected RM record. The comments on the iview page in BSP suggest the custom code is needed for initial request from browser and callback event to return the notification for the activities occurred in RM. As you suggested to Patrizia, I wonder if you've some sample code that i could use to make these BSPs work before additional enhancements is needed later.  As far as other prerequisit settings of http access and assigning search interface class to the correct service provider element type using GENSP_QUERY_EXT connection parameter are all properly set with my customer. So i'd feel really grateful if you could forward me the example codes for these BSPS.

  • Profile Manager not quite loading...

    Hi all,
I have a question about Profile Manager not loading on a fresh install. I've got this working in the past, but don't ask me how as I don't know anymore, plus the conditions were different.
Now when I go to https://server.example.com/profilemanager or /mydevices I can't even log in and it doesn't show anything. The status bar in Safari shows that 5 out of 7 items have been loaded and when I view the source, it shows:

...which looks fine to me. My question is: why doesn't the page show up at all (ultimately it fails)?
I have included a screen print of my server's server.app below:
    Thanks in advance.

I had multiple IP's set on my server, which randomly seemed to switch. It seems like there is an incompatibility still between Server Admin and server.app. Since Apple is pressing developers to test server admin and server.app I am confident those problems will resolve eventually, but for now I have deleted all-but-1 IPv4 and 1 IPv6 address (same interface), the networking interface overview for my server within Server Admin was updated and it looks like it works solid now, this was not by design I presume, so this must be another bug plaguing Lion...
After upgrading Postgres to 9.1.3 and upgrading webmail (upgrade: usr/share/webmail) from www.roundcube.net, making a new site webmail.example.com with the files stored in /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/CustomSitesDefault/webmail/ I made a symbolic link from that 'directory' to the actual built in webmail facility found in /usr/share/webmail by entering the following in terminal.
    ln -s -i /usr/share/webmail/ /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/CustomSitesDefault/webmail/
By doing this it will ask to remove a directory, if you didn't put any important files in there, which I presume you didn't, confirm with the letter y and press enter.
Webmail now works every time the way I want it The same goes for Profile Manager, at least for now...

  • Why use "Don't Color Manage This Document"?

    Hello,
I work on photos, mostly black and white, that will be either digitally or offset printed. I have been told that I should not assign any color profile to these photos in PhotoShop. I should instead choose the option in Assign Profile to "Don't Color Manage This Document."
I think the reason is that we do not want the RIP to interpret any color profile that may be in the RIP and apply it to the photos. But I really don't know why I should use this opiton.
Can anyone educate me on this question?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Tom,
You've left a few potentially important details out of your scenario, but I will give you my thoughts. Are your B&W images 4/C CMYK, grayscale, or RGB? It can make a difference.
When editing images for my own fine art printing, I always tag it with a profile. In fact, I do this whether my image is grayscale, CMYK or RGB. Of course, I am doing the printing myself, so I have full control over the project. I use a Canon 6100 and custom RGB profiles (which I build myself), so most of my B&W or toned monochrome prints are RGB. Without a source profile, Photoshop will have to assume or assign a profile in order to make the final conversion.
I have used B&W RIPs before, such as QTR, and they don't speak ICC. They simply take the raw umbers in the file and output them to the printer, passing them through specific inking recipes (which they tend to call profiles, but this is very confusing to users, because they can be confused with ICC profiles, which they definitely are NOT). In this case, the RIP simply ignores any embedded ICC profile and just outputs the numbers.
More traditional RIPs (Poster print, Studio Print, ColorBurst, etc) can properly interpret incoming CMYK data with an ICC profile and make whatever conversions are necessary to give you an accurate print. Of course, accuracy depends on having accurate profiles for monitor, printer, paper, ink, etc.
So, if we are talking photos destined for fine art printing on an inkjet, I normally would tag my files with an ICC profile.
I recently designed a job for a client using InDesign. It included a lot of photographs, illustrations, and native components created using Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. The problem was that the customer had not selected a commercial printer, so I had no idea where the job would be printed, on what type of press, ink limits, paper stock, etc. What to do? I chose a middle of the road profile (IDEAlliance SWOP2006_Coated3v2) which has an ink limit of 300 and assumes a #3 coated sheet. I left this profile active in InDesign. I edited my files in Photoshop and Illustrator and tagged all images with the same profile, and placed them into InDesign. So, all components had the same "generic" CMYK profile based on a middle of the road industry standard (I use the term standard loosely). Having all components tagged enabled me to generate an accurate, high quality color proof on my inkjet (assuming the final press will adhere the the above SWOP standard).
Before submitting the file, I converted it to PDF/X1-a using Acrobat Pro. This strips all profiles from the file, but names the intended color profile in the PDF file. So, I was supplying an untagged file, but if they wanted to, they could see what the intended profile was. I stripped the profile because I did NOT want the unknown commercial printer to convert my carefully generated files. One concern was that all items on the black plate (black text, lines, vector art, etc) might somehow be converted through Lab to a new CMYK profile, thus giving me CMYK separation of my blacks, potential registration problems, etc. To cover my butt, I supplied my color proofs with the file and told the client the final job should look very close to my proofs if the printer did his job right. It also gave the printer a guide print to help them get it right. So, to me, that is the major reason to supply an untagged file.
    Sorry for the long diatribe.
    Lou

  • How to manage custom document properties (e.g., company name, project name)

    Hi,
How to manage custom document properties (e.g., company name, project name, event date...) in Apple iWork Pages like it is possible in Microsoft Office Word ?
The idea is to simplify the management of multiple instances of same piece of information in a document by writing them once as a "properties" of the document that can be referencing in different places of the document. Changing the property value, will automatically change all its instances.
Thanks in advance for your help

    Thanks for your help Peter.
Search-Replace and Auto-Substitution are not requivalent for me since I'm looking for something more complex.
Suppose you have a document about an Event which occur on a specific date (e.g., 11-09-2003).
In your document, you may be interested in...
    - sometimes display the date as '11-09-2003',
    - sometimes display the date as 'Novembre, 2003',
    - sometimes display the date as 'Sunday, November 9, 2003'.
With a document property, you would be able to define the EventDate as 11-09-2003, and then define different specific format (e.g., 'mm-dd-yyyy', 'mmmm, yyyy'...) for each reference to the EventDate document property.
Using Search-Replace of Auto-Substitution, it will be painful since you will have to define as one token per format of a document property (e.g., EventDateAsMMDDYYY, EventDateAsMMMMYYYY...).
More than that, suppose you have a Numbers table inserted in your Pages document.
You may be interested in using some document properties in formulas.
This can't be solved using Search-Replace.
But its ok, I will wait until this feature will be supported in Pages.

  • Application Dependencies for RAC DBs

What are application Dependencies for RAC DBs specially there connectivity, and High availability?

You'll probably get lots of suggestions based on lots of experiences, however, those things may or may not happen to your application. The best and always-applicable advice you'll get is that you absolutely must test your application in every possible scenario (and even scenarios you think are impossible) for how it reacts to failure as well as how it scales with parallelism and how much contention it creates due to its design. Create a realistic test environment, ensure you can produce realistic, real-world load on the application, and then start testing. With 11g, the load generation gets a lot easier to do with Real Application Testing. With earlier releases, it will be using more traditional methods/tools.
So, you'll get good advice, but it won't be a substitute for doing the actual testing work yourself with your application.

29 july i put windows 10. After HP setup manager not working

Hi there ,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I have looked into the issue(s) you are having with your HP Setup Manager.  Please first start by uninstalling the HP Setup Manager/HP Support Assistant currently installed on your Notebook. Then restart your Notebook. When the Notebook restarts, please reinstall the HP Support Assistant.  Please follow this document called HP PCs - Troubleshooting HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8). It will show you how to uninstall and reinstall the HP Support Assistant.
Please follow these provided troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know how everything went. Thank you!Have a great day!

Hi, not must exist any dependency, for the applications must be transparent. The application only can see the service database where it cans connect and work.

  • EP60 SR1 + KM problems - Content management not working

I have the above system installed and content management isn't working. It is installed on Windows 2003. The portal was installed and seems to me to be OK (SAP have another view - more later). Into this we installed KM. This doesn't work. When I carried out the post install checks "checking the KM Content iView" (page 48 of the install guide) I got the following error:
<b>com.sapportals.wcm.repository.InvalidUriException: Invalid RID: No repository manager found: /documents
    at
    com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ResourceException.fillInStackTrace(ResourceException.java:400)
    at java.lang.Throwable.(Throwable.java:195)
    at java.lang.Exception.(Exception.java:41)</b>
There are several more pages of "at com.sap....." messages but I suspect the clue is the "No repository manager" message. I logged an OSS message who reported that there were .ERR files in the deployment directories and that in the KM repositories there should be 19 repositories but "I could find very few". I was later told he could find only 3 repositories, but I still wasn't told which ones. I reprocessed the .ERR files succesfully. This had no effect. I then reprocessed all the par and ept files that you are asked to check in the post install processing (Page 49-50 of the install guide):
    com.sap.ib.bi.*
    com.sap.km.*
    com.sap.netweaver.*
    com.sap.workflow.*
After this when I try to access "Content Admin -> KM Content" or "System Admin -> monitoring -> KM -> Component monitor" I get the following message
    <b>Item not found
The item you are trying to access is not available.
Check that the name or link is correct. You might also check whether
the associated repository is currently accessible.</b>
I don't have the portal in front of me at the moment, but I think that in the system admin message the "/" was replaced by "/runtime".
I mentioned earlier that SAP stated in their OSS message that the portal was installed incorrectly so we should reinstall. I am not convinced that this is the case. I feel this is fixable.
My next move will be to reprocess every .par and ept file I can find. Any help will be gratefully received.

    Tuval,
When I returned the decision had been made to reinstall the portal, so I didn't get chance to check out your answer. I have now reinstalled everything and this problem no longer exists.
    Thanks for your time.
    Paul.

I am getting the following error while applying VL02N (PGI) is "Account type M and G/L account with open item management not permitted".  Before I got an error like posting period and I have closed those posting periods 2008/08 and 2008/07.   Now I am getting this error.
Please provide the solutions to overcome this and I want to execute the full transaction.
    Thanks in ADVANCE.
