9iAS 9.0.3.1 Patchset?

Hi!
I've installed 9iAS Release 2 (9.0.2.0) onto a machine, and I've patched it up to 9.0.2.3, and I've noticed that there's a 9.0.3.1 patch up on Metalink. Should this be applied to the 9iAS Infrastructure and Business Intelligence installations?
Thanks a lot!

9031 patchset is to be applied on top of 9030 Oracle9iAS. 9023 is the latest patchset on 90201 Oracle9IAS version.

  • Certificate Authorities - JINIT 1.1.8.19

    HI,
We are intending to deploy our Forms application (at mutiple client intranets, and internet as ASP), and wish to automate the procedure of deploying and cerftifying JAR components, intergrating with the client machine.
We have followed the most helpful document on JAR signing etc for JINIT 1.3, but for our current release we intend to use JInit 1.1.8.19 (and 9iAS Forms Services Release 1 - patchset 10). In order to aid customer confidence in the Java code, and automate the recognition of the signing identity of the code, we intend to purchase a Certificate Authority certificate.
My questions are as follows :
    1. Which Certificate Authorities public keys are currently recognised by the identity.obj delivered by default in JInit 1.1.8.19 ?
    2. Currently, I appear only to be able to obtain a certificate conforming to the 1.3 JDK. Will these type of certificates enable to deploy using 1.1.8.19 ? For your information, I attach copy of my question and response from Verisign.
    Issue Details & Information
    Code Signing: Sun Java
The nature of the issue is:
Need additional information on or are unable to sign code
    Other issue Specified:
    Additional Information surrounding the issue:
    Hi,
Wish to purchase Code Signing ID, but signed Applet will be deployed using
1.1.8.19 version of the Java Soft plug-in (actually packaged by Oracle as
JInitiator). We have been using the "javakey" commands to create and sign
    using a self-signed certificate.
Will the available certificate allow us to deploy using 1.1.8.19 ?
    Thanks

    Dear VeriSign Customer,
    Special requirements: Tools/SDK version:
The Java Applet needs to be written using the Java 2 JDK v1.3. (J2SEv1.3 is
the first JDK from Sun with an RSA signature provider). Download available
    at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/
Java Plug-in v1.3: This allows web page authors to direct Java applets on
their web pages to run using Sun's Java Runtime Environment (JRE) instead of
the browser's default run time environment and hence be confident that the
applets are executed with full support for all of the features and
capabilities of Java 2 SDK 1.3 in Microsoft's IE 4.0 or later, and
Netscape's Navigator 4.0 or later on various Win32 platforms and Solaris
    platforms.
    Download available at: http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/index.html.
    Thank you,
    Jennifer

    HI,
    Thanks for the response.
For your info, the main reason why we are currently planning to use 1.1.8.19, is purely because all testing / QAT / performance monitoring, has been performed using this version. We are really close to our first expected delivery date and would prefer to stick with what we have. Also, customers have expressed a desire for code to be signed using Certifcate Authority verified methods, rather than self-signed (I don't think this a technical decision, more one of marketing). Also as the Oracle path is to begin to certify directly to Java Soft 1.4..., I'd prefer to make the jump at that stage (particularily considering the supposed solving of the whole authentication issue within this release).
On a slightly un-related note, my personal experience of JInit 1.3, has been that performance (and memory usage on the client machine) appears to be worse / higher than 1.1; but this may just be me. Have you any expereince using the 1.3 plug-in ?
    Thanks again for your interest.
    Regards
    Marc Hi Marc
From what I read from your mail from VeriSign you may be forced to upgrade to JInitiator 1.3, if you must use Certificate Authorities. I understand your need to deploy, what you have been using in your test environment; but in this particular case, if CA is a requirement, I guess the best thing you can do is to deploy on JInit 1.1 now using self-signed certificates and then start using JInit 1.3 in your test environment ASAP. I do not know, if any CA's still issue Java1.1 certificates, sorry.
To be honest, I'm waiting for JPI 1.4 certification also; unfortunately, I couldn't wait for this because of customer requirement for Forms9i, and JInit 1.3 actually seems to run OK in my experience - the smallest machine I've run it on is a PentiumII 350 Mhz with 128 MB RAM and Win98, where I really couldn't spot any difference regarding performance. I have actually tested the JPI 1.4.1 also - and it seems to have kind of the same cerficate problem, which Duncan Mills mentions in his recently released whitepaper - but of course this was only a quick test, since I would never actually deploy the 1.4.x JPI as long as it isn't certified from Oracle - and also I do know from other tests, that there may be some incompatibility issues between Java2 1.3 and 1.4...
Sorry I couldn't be of more help - but if you ever should deploy JInit 1.3, eventually maybe even Forms9i, I'd be more that happy to share further experiences regarding these matters.
    Regards,
    Jacob

  • Oracle 9iAS 9.0.2.1.0 patchset and PDK

I'm patching Oracle 9iAS as described in Metalink note 215882.1. The readme file for the bundled patchset 9.0.2.10 says that the set can not be installed when Oracle 9iAS Developer Kits are installed. I have installed PDK Release 2 (9.0.2). What am I supposed to do.

For all administrator guides, go to:
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/A97329_03/index.htm
As for a configuration tool, all there really is is an installation "cookbook". It is really helpful. It goes through pre-intall task, installing 9ias, and post-install tasks.
    For Windows:
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=214691.1
    For Unix:
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=200075.1
    Hope this helps,

  • 9iAS Bundled patchset 9.0.2.1.0

I'm patching Oracle 9iAS as described in Metalink note 215882.1. The readme file for the bundled patch set 9.0.2.10 says that the set can not be installed when Oracle 9iAS Developer Kits are installed. I have installed PDK Release 2 (9.0.2). What am I supposed to do.

    Hi all,
The Patchsets for Oracle9iAS confuse me too.
I have installed 9iAS on AIX 4.3.3 and some patchsets is not available for AIX (ex. patch 2790613)
    I have installed
Patch 2542920 Patchset for IAS Core 9.0.2.1
Patch 2703110 Patchset for IAS Core 9.0.2.2
and i don't know if can I install
    Patch 2705870 Developer Patch 9i
(i see on metalink 2842923 ORACLE DEVELOPER PATCH 2, but only for Solaris)
Is possible to install IDS core patch 1 now?
in Note 215882.1 is write this (about Non-Core(NC) Patchsets):
"You should apply the latest Core Patchset before applying a NC Patchset"
For IDS Patchset is the same?
    Thanks

NOTE:ALL PATCHES MUST BE APPLIED ON BOTH TIERS!
NOTE:YOUR DB LISTENER MUST LISTEN ON PORT 1521!
if you have multiple database on the same server change the ias listener port to 1521 before applying.

    1. ensure you have good solid backup of your oracle binaries infrastructure/mid tier
    2. first check if you meet the pre-install requirements re os level and sun jdk     follow note:242548.1
    3. check the jdk version it should be 1.3 or higher java -version will show the current version
    4. goto www.sun.com and download and install the latest supported jdk 1.4.2 as of 09/09/03 per writing of
this doc and make relevant changes to the path on both tiers
    5. downloaded db patch 2517300 and the owm & java_ssl patches 2563444 & 2282201 respectively
and place it in the same dir say /export/home/oracle/patch/dbpatch
THIS IS IMPORTANT AS THE owm and java_ssl patches HAVE to be applied after the db patch
also download the integrated patch 3038037 and place it in a separate dir say /export/home/oracle/patch/integratedpatch
    6. unzip the patches
    7. goto the website and shutdown the application tier (middle tier) and stop all & do the same for the infrastructure tier
    8. shutdown db & listener at the infrastructure home
    9. check if any oracle processes are running in both the infrastructure/mid tier (ps -ef |grep oracle)
    10. if yes even though you've stopped all services from the web-site depending on which processes
are running you may have to manually stop them
    10. if opmn managed processes OH/opmn/bin/opmn stopall
    11. if oid, OH/bin/oidmon stop and also the ldap server OH/bin/oidctl connect=iasdb server=oidldapd stop(you might get an error
as the database and the infrastructure are already down don't worry
    12. goto OH/ldap/bin/ldpacheck to check if any of the oid processes are still up
B.P :in you .profile include OH/opmn/bin,OH/bin and OH/ldap/bin in your path and also have aliases.
    13. if there still any processes running kill them manually (have a script like the following to do this, modify the ps to kill depending on the process)
as you might have to for native ,Apache, opmn
    #!/bin/ksh
    #satish ramaswamy 08/13/03
    #kills the processes of opmn
#set -x #only for debguuing comment it out

    15. export DISPLAY=<i.p:0.0> VERY IMPORTANT DON'T FORGET!!!
16 ./runInstaller (start installer) from the supplied patch version
    17. after applying the db patch on the infrastructure tier/apply it on the mid tier
    18. start db up and follow instructions on db patch 2517300 readme postinstall
    19. B.P :create a script file for the post db commands if performing on a # of servers and also spool the output
20.shutdown the db and listener before applying the java_ssl & owm patches
20.cd to the java_ssl patch dir 2871352 and follow patch readme though detailed instructions follow
    21. chmod the patch.sh script provided for both these patches chmod u=rwx patch.sh
    22../patch.sh (run the script)
23..perform 22 after changing your profile to the mid-tier, you'll get the message
that the script has been run before please enter C (Continue) to continue applying patch to mid-tier
    24. cd to the owm patch dir 2563444 chmod u=rwx post_9014.sh (owm patch script)
25.. change the profile back to the infrastructure tier and excetute this script
    26. ./post_9014.sh
27.perform step 26 for the mid-tier by changing the environment
    28.startup up the db & listener,oidmon, oid server,emctl
    29. TEST by going to the http://i.p address:port #(admin port) start the services first on infrastructure, then mid-tier
    30. cd to the where the integrated patch is installed and fire up the installer ./runInstaller      but before
export DISPLAY=<i.p:0.0> VERY IMPORTANT DON'T FORGET!!!
    31. follow instructions on the integrated patch readme (there is some confusion in the readme modifications mentioned here)
    32. DO NOT shutdown oidmon, oidserver until you have passed the screen where it prompts for the oracladmin
    password
    33. after you enter the password you'll get a screen prompting you to shutdown all infrastructure processes
    DON'T
    34. the next screen will ask for the sys password enter it twice and only then ensure all infrastructure
    processes are down
    35. apply the integrated patch on the app tier after appying it on the infrastructure.
    36. if you get errors while the oidpatchca.sh is being invoked from the installer(try retrying you may have to start oidmon first)
    37. you can run OH/ldap/bin/oidpatchca.sh manually n times! THIS MUST RUN SUCCESSFULLY! IT IS NOT OPTIONAL!
    38. the oid command has changed in 9.0.2.3 ./oidpatchca.sh -connect iasdb -lsnrport 1521 -syspwd <SYS password> -sudn "cn=orcladmin" -supwd <orcladmin pw> -dippwd
<some new password matching password rules>
39.log on to sqlplus as ods user and you MUST see 11 parameters in the following procedure
OLADDENTRY by performing a desc oladd
    40. if you get errors that object doesn't exist check you're logged as ods user, check status of OLADD% object_name is dba_objects/user_objects.
    41. your java environment might be screwed up may have to run initjvm.sql in OH/javavm but first run rmjvm.sql
    40. also if you get errors while running oidpatchca.sh like java errors this means the java_ssl patch must be run again
    41. on the both tiers check the status of dcmctl with OH/dcmctl getstate -v (if you get java errors run java_ssl patch again!)
    42. start the relevant services on both tiers OH/dcm/bin/dcmctl start -ct [ohs/oc4j] -v
    43. start emctl, webcache on the mid tier OH/bin/webcachectl start
    44.TEST by going to the http://i.p address:port #(admin port)
    45. if you have errors open up a tar and hopefully you get analyst brett mcgee!
    46. THIS IS OPTIONAL:follow post install steps which involves applying another patch! follow readme of that patch
    47. download and apply patch # 3129219 ONLY on MID-TIER to prevent forms/reports errors (not mentioned in integated patch 3038037 readme)
    TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS:
1.oidpatchca.sh fails (see if oidmon is up)
    2. get java errors or ADMN errors when you run dcmctl getstate -v or any dcmctl commands
    check if oidmon is up

errata: step # 41 should read
    41. your java environment might be screwed up may have to run initjvm.sql in OH/javavm/*INSTALL*(lower case) but first run rmjvm.sql
    missing in the earlier post.

  • Unable to install patchset 10.2.0.3 on XP - wants me to stop ALL services

    Hi,
I am unable to install patchset 10.2.0.3 on our existing OWB installations (patchset 10.2.0.2) already installed.
I get an error message saying that certain files are in use and that I should stop the "following services". It then proceeds to list every running service!!
I have tried installing OWB with the 10.2.0.2 patchset and then I am able to install the 10.2.0.3 one but that is not a viable solution as I already have several users with OWB 10.2.0.2 installed on their machines and they need to patched to 10.2.0.3 ASAP. I really don't want to have to uninstall OWB from their machines and reinstall it.
So, what's going on? Why does the OUI say it wants every Windows service to be stopped?

I think this problem is caused by one or several MS Windows services (maybe MSDTC?). OUI cannot identify exact service name which locks Oracle file(s) and show all services in list.
There are several notes on Metalink about this problem:
Note:356181.1 "Errors about files being in use, when applying a patch."
Note:402546.1 "How To Specify Which OCI.DLL The MS DTC PROCESS Uses"
    Note:198699.1 "Access denied on OCIW32.DLL when removing 9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2) installation"
Note:232827.1 "Universal Installer can not replace the oci.dll Error when install/deinstall Oracle Products"
Note:294350.1 "Write Errors, or Files In Use, or NoServicesForProcessException During Patch Installation"
Try to change registry value HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MSDTC/MTxOCI/OracleOciLib to nonexistent file name (for example xxx.dll), restart Windows and try to install patch again. Please give a feedback to this recommendation, I think it would be interesting to all.

  • Reports Server in 9IAS

    HI
    I've installed 9ias,
I have the infrastructure in a Home, and the forms&reports in another.
I've executed a rwserver -install ,the service is showing in the NT services list, but, when trying to start it,it's crashing,I don't know why....I haven't installed any patchsets, can this be a reason?
    Thanks

    Never mind,

Reinstalled a new one,and enbled tracing..the server is still blocking when is starting up,even if one engine is succesfully started..

  • URGENT..error when trying to access mod plsql link on intial 9ias server page

Can anyone provide me with a solution to my problem?
When I finished my installation of 8.1.7.1(patchset)DB, then 9ias 2.1
I try to access the mod plsql link to access the server gateway. However the following error appears.
'You cannot login because there is no configuration information stored in the enabler configuration table. (WWC-41439)'
I've found out it might be due to the SSOHash java class not executing. As a result I ran an sql statement that showed i'm missing login server data. Tried a fix but didn't work.
Does anyone know what I can do apart from a re-installation?
    thanks

Did you run ssodatan in order to setup the wwsec_enabler_config_info table?

  • Installation of 9iAS 1.0.2 along with 8.1.7

    Dear All,
Can any one tell me what are the steps to install the 9iAS in a single machine with 8.1.7 (Oracle 8i Release 3) database.
I have installed with 817 in orahome81 and then 9iAS at iSuites home. But it gave an error while starting the HTTP Server. Please Suggest me the sequence of steps for acheiving the same .
Thanks to u all in advance.
    KNS

For a single NT machine, you probably want to install the minimal edition of 9iAS.
Starting with version 8.1.7.0 already installed, The following steps worked
for me installing 9iAS 1.0.2.2 minimal edition:
    1. Apply Patchset 1711240 to update your database to 8.1.7.1. Notice that this
patch is listed under Server version 8.1.7.1 on the search page on Metalink.
Important: The last step in installing the patch is to run the utlrp.sql script
to compile invalid objects. However, one trigger under SYS schema will remain
uncompiled. Compile it manually before continuing: JIS$ROLE_TRIGGER$
Note: Four other package bodies under my SYS schema remained uncompiled as well.
However, this didn't affect the rest of the installation:
    . DBMS_ASYNCRPC_PUSH
    . DBMS_DEFER_INTERNAL_SYS
    . DBMS_DEFER_SYS_PART1
    . DBMS_IAS_MT_INST
    2. You can now apply patch 1887405 to update your database to 8.1.7.5. This is
simple but you can still continue with the installation if you don't apply it.
    3. Important: remove the 8i http server from the 8.1.7 home. I used the oracle installer.
    4. Important: remove the Apache directory completely from your 8.1.7 database.
    5. Edit your init.ora file and increase the large_pool_size parameter as follows:
    large_pool_size = 31457280
Note: everything else in my init.ora was default. This is the only parameter changed.
    6. Increase your SYSTEM and USERS tablespaces. After installation, my SYSTEM
tablespace increased by 265 MB, and my USERS tablespace increased by 200 MB.
So you need to add at least that much.
    7. Important: check the file regsvr32.exe under WINNT\SYSTEM32 in Windows Explorer:
Remove the Read-Only attribute if present.
Note: I didn't have to do this step when I installed under NT Service Pack 5.
I had to do it under NT Service Pack 6.
    8. Optional:
Add TNS_ADMIN variable to your environment in Control Panel to point to your 8.1.7
    TNSNAMES.ORA file, e.g.: TNS_ADMIN=D:\oracle\ora81\network\ADMIN
    9. Note: Make sure you have enough space on the disk where your system TEMP directory
is located. I didn't measure this but I believe you should have at least 500 MB.
    10. You might want to change all services to manual, except for OracleServiceORCL
and OracleOraHome81TNSListener. You can stop all services before starting 9iAS
installation. Since the installation process will reboot your machine, the above
mentioned two services will then start after reboot. This is important since the
installation process will need to login to your 8.1.7 database to install the Portal.
    11. Start the installation. When the installer prompts you for the name of your
Portal schema (default portal30) it asks for your TNS string for your database.
Notice that you must enter this as: server_name.domain:port:SID. The port is the
database port (e.g. 1521). Notice that if you are installing the minimum edition,
you do not have to change this port before the installation.
That should do it. The install should take about one hour for iAS, and between two and
    three hours for the portal.

  • Verion of OAM, 9iAS etc in 11.5.9 instllation ?

How do I find out which verion of what product is intalled with my 11.5.9 installation ?
Say, I want to find out the version of OAM. Whether its 2.1.1 or higher
    Or version of 9iAS ...
I know about the AD_TOP/sql/adutconf.sql that lists info about the Apps verion, DB version, patchset level of all products like AD, GL, PO, ..........
    and lots more info.
    But it doesnt have this
In Help -> About, I can find Apps verion, RDBMS verions, but again not this
Neither I am able to find this in the OracleInventory file that OUI creates at the time of installation
    Please let me know

Ok, I was able to figure out the functions that were confusing me. For my own record and for those that do not know, I will list how to create the objects necessary to add a new report to a menu.
1-Write JSP (should be written just how Oracle writes theirs)
2-Creat function for the new JSP page as System Administrator responsibility
3-Use Sys Admin to add the function to a menu somewhere
4-Using AK Developer responsibility, create an attribute with the label of the attribute being the name of your function you created. Oracle's convention is the name of the attribute has FS in it.
5-Using AK Developer, lookup the ASF_FUNC_SEC_REG region
6-Drill down into that regions attributes
7-Add a your newly created attribute to this region
You would do all these steps for your advanced search page as well, so that in your main jsp, you can call asfPage.setAdvancedSearchPage() with the attribute name of your advanced page.
What I Still do not know is:
    (1) My main page keeps coming up saying that there is no default query defined for it. How do you create a default query for a report?
    (2) How to get the personalization to work.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

  • First patch for the non-released 9iAS 9.0.4

Today I mentioned the first patch is released for 9ias 9.0.4 (patch 3089193). Strange that Oracle already releases patches for a product that itself has not been released yet. Is it that difficult to implement that patch into the base version? I heard that we may expect 9iAS 9.0.4 around september/october so there should be time enough.

Well -- to respond to the patches...
9.0.2.1 core patchset breaks my Jdev/BC4J application with an error indicating the BC4J tables couldn't be updated
So, I try 9.0.2.2 patch. Can't get past installation instructions (posted message yesterday about this -- no response yet).
javax.naming.CommunicationException: webdev1.softmatic.esoftmatic.com:4031. Root exception is java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: object is not an instance of declaring class
Patches have definitely not helped here.
    To be constructive:
    1) Looking for 9.0.4 release to allow clustering of OC4J processes even if installed with reports/forms (i.e. allow me to use EM to cluster, even if EM can't cluster the reports servers). It would be nicer to have EM cluster reports services too, but probably need smart way of updating CGICMD.DAT, for example. I could deal with just clustering the OC4J portions, but to prevent me from doing it because I've installed the "business intelligence" is frustrating because I know the capability is there -- I just can't get there because we use the reports too.
    2) Looking for text/xml/configuration files on NT to use Windows CRLF (cgicmd.dat, opmn.xml, etc). Annoying, especially since I have to document the installation procedures for disaster recovery and need to include unix to dos type utilities, etc. Getting a real editor isn't my problem, it's the disaster recovery plan where you can't count on people knowing how to deal with it themselves.
    3) Looking for way to deploy 9.0.3 JDeveloper BC4J to 9.0.2 safely (docs say you can't)...As a generalization, allow deployment of newer jdev/bc4j libraries with the applications. The "tightness" of BC4J within 9iAS causes issues. Development environments are updated more regularly than production -- hence the ability to fully deploy newer applications to the older app servers is key.
There are probably others... but those topics seem to not come up in the forums.

Why does BP1 for 9031 have a earlier release date than the 9031 Patchset? Does it mean that the BP1 is obsolete when Patchset 9031 is installed?

  • Update database installed with 9iAS Infrastructure?

    Hi!
I'm about to install BIBeans on this system, which has Oracle 9i Database (9.2.0.4), 9iAS Infrastructure (9.0.2.3) and 9i Mid-Tier (9.0.2.3)... In the readme for the bibdemo schema, it says this: "Install (and upgrade, if you have an existing installation) the Oracle9i database. You must also install the required patchsets to get your database to version 9.2.0.3 or higher. Installation of the demo database schema will fail if the correct patchsets are not installed."
I previously patched the 9i Database instance up to 9.2.0.4, but I was under the impression that Infrastructure installed its own copy of the database... Is that correct? If so, do I also have to update the IASDB? I had a look at the readme for the 9.2.0.4 DB patch, and it looked like that could only be applied to the 9i Database Server...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Even I am having the same problem.
I am still struggling to get this right but in the meantime you can start from the following URL:

  • Config 9iAS Forms Server

    Hi,
I am currently configurating 9iAS 1.0.2.2 on Windows 2000. The patch that comes with is patchset 5.
After install, I can test on the servlet and run the test.fmx correctly.
Then I changed the formsweb.cfg for my app and try to run in thru the browser. The login screen comes up and I type in the userid/passwd@connect_string. But I cannot connect to the database. I checked all d:\oracle\806\tnsname.ora and it is correct.
And I couldn't find error message in any of the 9iAS log files (like, jserv.log, access.log, error.log)
Can anybody give me a hit?

    Thanks for your reply.
I don't get any error message, not even on the message bar(It just shows "Applet started.". I did not specify the domain name in sqlnet.ora nor tnsnames.ora
I notice that if i put a wrong connect string, it tried to locate the database but failed with no error message.
When I turn on the debug, it gives me the following in the jserv.log. Can you find a clue? Thanks.
