9iAS DAD file upload

I have no problem with HTMLDB running against the OHS that installed with my 9i database server. When I create a DAD on my 9iAS server and access HTMLDB on the database everything but the file upload seems to work. What am i missing?
ANdrew

the four DAD parameters that play into the file upload process are PlsqlDocumentTablename, PlsqlDocumentPath, PlsqlDocumentProcedure, and PlsqlNLSLanguage. our default install would have you set up the first three parms as...
PlsqlDocumentTablename wwv_flow_file_objects$
PlsqlDocumentPath docs
PlsqlDocumentProcedure wwv_flow_file_manager.process_download
...the PlsqlNLSLanguage parameter's value is specific to your db setup. to figure out that value, you could run this proc...
set serveroutput on;
declare
l_NLS_LANGUAGE varchar2(100) default null;
l_NLS_TERRITORY varchar2(100) default null;
l_NLS_CHARACTERSET varchar2(100) default null;
begin
select value
into l_NLS_LANGUAGE
from nls_database_parameters
where parameter = 'NLS_LANGUAGE';
select value
into l_NLS_CHARACTERSET
from nls_database_parameters
where parameter = 'NLS_CHARACTERSET';
select value
into l_NLS_TERRITORY
from nls_database_parameters
where parameter = 'NLS_TERRITORY';
sys.dbms_output.put_line ( 'nls_language = {'||l_NLS_LANGUAGE ||'}');
sys.dbms_output.put_line ( 'nls_territory = {'||l_NLS_TERRITORY ||'}');
sys.dbms_output.put_line ( 'nls_characterset = {'||l_NLS_CHARACTERSET ||'}');
sys.dbms_output.put_line ( 'add this line to your DAD config:');
sys.dbms_output.put_line ( 'PlsqlNLSLanguage '||l_NLS_LANGUAGE||'_'||l_NLS_TERRITORY||'.'||l_NLS_CHARACTERSET );
end;
i'm hoping that correctly setting up these four DAD parameters will fix your file upload issue. if not, please do let us know (including specific details).
thanks,
raj

  • File upload with DAD not working

    Hi all,
    I have an application which uses the file upload function, similar to the sample http://otn.oracle.com/products/database/htmldb/howtos/howto_file_upload.html
    During the development I was not using a DAD and it was working perfectly. Now I have changed the application to use a DAD and now the file upload fails with a HTTP 404 - File not found error

    Rob,
    The File Browse item type does not require upload table WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$. The POST for the File Browse item type is intercepted by modplsql and is inserted into the Document Table as defined by the Database Access Descriptor.
    You could ultimately create your own DAD with your own Document Table. The Document Table would have to contain the minimum definition as described at:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_03/web.1012/b14010/concept.htm#i1005880
    This way, users of the application using the Basic Database Authenticated DAD would be uploading directly into your table and not the HTML DB one. A word of caution, though, is that you would never want to use this DAD with HTML DB development itself...you would need to use the DAD that specifies upload into WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$ for HTML DB development.
    I hope this helps.

  • File Upload / Download - Advice Required

    Hi all,
    This is really just a general question, looking for advice.
    I have downloaded and successfully used the File Upload PJC for Forms 6i - thanks Oracle.
    We are looking to use this to download and upload files from or to the client machine, and I am (relatively) confident of reversing the Java components to allow this to happen.
    However, we are actually looking to transfer the files from the client machine, to the 9iAS Tier and then to the UNIX (AIX) tier where the database (8.1.7.4) resides - and vice versa.
    I have considered a couple of different approaches :
    1. Run the Java Server component in the Database JVM to enable the writing/reading of files on the UNIX filesystem.
    2. Use TEXT_IO on the 9iAS tier, and UTL_FILE on the Database Tier, to move files between the two tiers.
    3. Write the files to / from the Database, and then from/to there into the UNIX filesystem.
    Does anyone have any expereince of attempting to implement a similar solution, or information on Oracle documentation explaining any of the above.
    Plus, I'm sure I must be missing a trick !
    Any other ideas ??
    Regards
    Marc Ludwig

    We have build a similar solution,
    for the download:
    we use the pl/sql gateway to send the file to the client with the following function:
    wpg_docload.download_File(lob_loc);
    you could build a pl/sql procedure that accepts an id and selects the blob locater and
    triggers this function. the procedure can be called by setting the configuration in your DAD correctly.
    that way its easier then rebuilding the whole fileupload utility.
    in the webforms you can have a code that opens a new window with an url you give.
    the url will point to the pl/sql function and you can pass the id of the record you want to get the blob from.
    for the upload to your database:
    well, we chose to loose the zip functionality and modify the pl/sql library that comes with it.
    instead of using the uploadserver class, you could build a pl/sql function in the database that
    accepts the varchar32 strings (which are base64encoded chunks of your file) and appends them to a blob.
    the function that could do that would look like:
    PROCEDURE APPEND_DATA(P_ID IN NUMBER, P_DATA IN VARCHAR2) IS
    bin_data blob;
    append_data blob;
    raw_data raw(16384);
    BEGIN
    dbms_lob.CREATETEMPORARY(append_data,true);
    dbms_lob.OPEN(append_data,DBMS_LOB.LOB_READWRITE);
    select binary_data into bin_data from ibs_physical_doc where id=P_ID for update;
    raw_data:= utl_encode.BASE64_DECODE(utl_raw.CAST_TO_RAW(p_data));
    dbms_lob.write(append_data, utl_raw.LENGTH(raw_data),1,raw_data);
    dbms_lob.APPEND(bin_data,append_data);
    dbms_lob.CLOSE(append_data);
    COMMIT;
    END;
    you can increase the chunksize a bit more.
    you still have a problem btw that you probably cant upload more then 4-8 mb before you get an out of memory error on the client.
    you could solve that by rewriting the client java file to send the file piece by piece on request by the server instead of all the pieces after eachother, and first read a piece of the file and then encode that piece and then send it instead of reading the whole file, encoding it and sending the chunks.
    Another option is to use the standard upload possibilties with web pl/sql, and open a new browser window to that window from forms. A drawback of that is that it is not integrated in the web forms program and that you cant see when the upload is finished (no callback). and that you are bound to the default table layout.
    one final thing, if you are going to use this, you might want to take a look at using JInitiator 1.3.1.9 if you arent using it already this automaticly sets the signature in the clients database if he accepts it. there is a bug in it, look for it somewhere in this forum. if you are using the sample that comes with forms 6i you will have to replace the fileuploadprogressbar with the one that comes with the forms 9i sample and recompile everything and i think you will have to use JDK1.3.1_03 for that. that means that you will have to modify the make batch file. the command for compiling is different, the classpath is an option when you call javac, also you will have to sign it with jarsigner.exe (in the jdk) instead of the one in the example.
    Hope this info is helpfull, if you like to have more specific code, mail me at [email protected]

  • I Need Information Regarding File Upload?

    Where can I get information regarding the File uploading packages in Portal. Is there a specification I can get a hold of. I know such a package exists, as it is used by portal itself. I just need to know where I can get hold of information as to what it is called and how to invoke it.

    Suraj,
    The APIs to do file upload are not public as of yet. We are looking into the feature right now. Currently, the only supported method of file upload is using the Web Interface.
    You may find more information about this in the 9iAs Portal forum

  • Urgent : file upload / download functionality in oracle portal page

    Hi friends
    I am new to portal development and am working on oracle portal 9i rel2 . I need to know how to put the file upload and download functionality in any page. the functionality given in oracle portal user guide is not user friendly (i.e in the content area add item of type file" ) .... i need to now is their any way to achieve the simple , one button click upload download functionality ..like we do in yahoo mails etc.
    any help will be highly appreciated.
    regards
    Dheeraj

    Well, I do not know the exact location of the document, however you can find the document to do this in modplsql User Guide ..(File Upload/Download).
    I am pasting some hint:
    e.g.
    Create an html form..code something like this:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>test upload</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <FORM      enctype="multipart/form-data"
    action="pls/mydad/write_info"
    method="POST">
    <p>Author's Name:<INPUT type="text" name="who">
    <p>Description:<INPUT type="text" name="description"><br>
    <p>File to upload:<INPUT type="file" name="file"><br>
    <p><INPUT type="submit">
    </FORM>
    </body>
    </html>
    Create a table
    (who varchar2(..).
    description varchar2(..),
    file varchar2(..));
    Your procedure something like this:
    procedure write_info (
    who in varchar2,
    description in varchar2,
    file in varchar2) as
    begin
    insert into myTable values (who, description, file);
    htp.htmlopen;
    htp.headopen;
    htp.title('File Uploaded');
    htp.headclose;
    htp.bodyopen;
    htp.header(1, 'Upload Status');
    htp.print('Uploaded ' || file || ' successfully');
    htp.bodyclose;
    htp.htmlclose;
    end;
    You should be able to download/access the file using the following URL format:
    http://<host>:<port>/pls/<dad>/docs/<file_name>
    Where file name is = Look for the value in the "myTable" > file.
    Do tell how you get on this.
    Thanx,
    Chetan.

  • File Upload and Download in Oracle iAS PL/SQL Gateway

    i'm using the example 113471.1 to "File Upload and Download in
    Oracle iAS PL/SQL Gateway"
    when i press the submit button after i select a file to upload
    i get the next message in the browser "No se puede mostrar la

    I think the problem is in ctnsample.upload_form in the line
    htp.formOpen(curl => 'cntsample.upload', cmethod => 'POST',
    cenctype => 'multipart/form-data');
    The ctnsample.remove work fine.
    Could you,help me...

    There is a document in the Oracle 9iAS 1.0.2.2 Library titled "Using the PL-SQL Gateway" Part Number A90099-01.pdf that explains file upload and download through modplsql. In particular there is a section there titled "Direct BLOB Download" which explains how one can easily download a blob utilising the wpg_docload package.
    I am still concerned that there exist duplicate copies of my blob content. One copy in the wwdoc_document$ table, and one in my custom table.
    Dmitry/Oracle can you confirm this?

  • File Upload error after upgrade to 1.6

    After upgrade to HTML version 1.6 from 1.5 it's impossible to upload files to the Database.
    The same effect apears during application import or when i try to uploaad an file inside of an application.
    Does anyone know this? How to solve it?
    Thanks

    Scott said:
    "You should probably revoke those grants, unless the user was HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER. The DAD user should always be HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER, unless you are using a dedicated DAD for database authentication, in which case that DAD should use a private document table. HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER should already have access to the wwv_flow_file_objects$ unless something went wrong during installation."
    I am facing a very similar problem since we upgraded to 1.6. File uploads do not work unless privileges on wwv_flow_file_objects$ are granted to the user (we use database authentication). By default, NO users or roles have access to this table. Does this mean that something went wrong during installation?
    I am confused by this: "...unless you are using a dedicated DAD for database authentication, in which case that DAD should use a private document table." Does that mean that whenever database authentication is used, wwv_flow_file_objects$ is no longer the repository for uploaded files? How should it work then?

  • Java bean File Upload - Error-105101

    We were having earlier the same problem of 105100 error. As the solution, suggested earlier in the thread posted by Teguh Santoso, the classpath settings that was mentioned ealier was done, the certificate was imported in the client machine.
    At the web-browser-client machine, the "Select" button in the "fileupload" demo form is opening the FileDialog(that cleared the earlier problem). But on selecting a file in it, the error ORA-105101 is occuring for the WHEN-CUSTOM-ITEM-EVENT..... But both the progress bars, the one that is there for encoding of the seleced file, and the one that is there for the uploading gets displayed. On searching the "c:\temp" folder(folder where the file is intended to be uploaded to) of the application server, we see that the particular file has not been uploaded.
    The same thing is working alright when we do it in the 9iAS machine, when using the "Run on Web" option in the 6i-FormBuilder.
    What additional settings are to be done for using the file-upload utility through web-forms? Please help..
    Thank you
    Regards
    Ranjith.

    If you press KEY-LISTVAL in the Upload demo form it will message out the current classpath for you. If that fails as well it's because the basic Java Runtime classes cannot be found.
    The general things to have to watch in the setup (on the Application server) are:
    1) A Java 1.2.2+ runtime environment is available
    2) The /jre/bin/classic directory is in the O/S PATH for Windows, or the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for SOLARIS or the SHLIB_PATH for HP. This is so that Forms can locate the JVM.DLL (Windows) or libjvm.sl/so (UNIX)
    3) The CLASSPATH needs to contain the 1.2.2+ Java runtime jar file rt.jar. This is in the /jre/lib directory.
    4) The CLASSPATH should of course also contain the UploadServer.jar

  • Error "A web exception has occurred during file upload" when trying to import ESXi image file into Update Manager

    I'm encountering this error and not sure how to fix, I'm quite new to vCenter so please bear with me.
    I'm trying out vCenter 5.1 with Update Manager 5.1 right now.  No license key has been entered and I still have 50 odd days to try it out.
    2 ESXi hosts are being managed by this vCenter, and they're both running ESXi 4.0
    I'm looking to use Update Manager to try to upgrade the ESXi 4.0 hosts to ESXi 5.1
    I downloaded the image file VMware-VIMSetup-all-5.1.0-799735.iso from VMWare website, and is looking to import it using the Update Manager so I can update the ESXi hosts, but I keep on getting the error:
    File name:     VMware-VIMSetup-all-5.1.0-799735.iso
    Failed to transfer data
    Error was: A web exception has occurred during file upload
    I tried importing it by using vSphere client to connect to vCenter server both remotely and locally, with firewall disabled.
    I've read http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1026602
    I've disabled firewall, and there is no anti-virus program on the server.  I've also restarted the machine several times, to no avail, I didn't reinstall update manager because the whole Windows and VCenter installations are clean from scratch.
    I logged into the vSphere Client using Active Directory credentials, and I've made all Domain Admins (which my account is a member of) part of the administrator group on the vCenter server. I can't log in using admin@System-Domain because it tells me I don't have permissions for it, I still haven't really had the chance to figure out why that is and not sure if that makes a difference.
    Also, I'm fairly certain I'm using the right image file, as I've burned some DVD's used that image file to upgrade some other ESXi hosts.  Unless there's a special image file I need to download?
    I'm at lost on what I can do to make it work.  Please advise.
    Thanks.

    The ISO file you mentioned is the one for vCenter Server. What you need is the "VMware-VMvisor-Installer-5.1.0-799733.x86_64.iso" (or VMware-VMvisor-Installer-201210001-838463.x86_64.iso) for the ESXi host.

  • Change upload file name with com.oreilly.servlet.MultipartRequest to handle the file upload

    1. when use com.oreilly.servlet.MultipartRequest to handle the file upload, can I change the upload file name .
    2. how com.oreilly.servlet.MultipartReques handle file upload? do it change to byte ?
    what  different?  if I use the following method?
       File uploadedFile = (File) mp.getFile("filename");
                   FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(filename);
                    byte[] uploadedFileBuf = new byte[(int) uploadedFile.length()];
                   fos.write(data);

    My questions are
    1) when use oreilly package to do file upload , it looks like i line of code is enough to store the upload file in the
    file direction.
    MultipartRequest multi =
            new MultipartRequest(request, dirName, 10*1024*1024); // 10MB
    why some example still use FileOutputStream?
    outs = new FileOutputStream(UPLOADDIR+fileName);
        filePart.writeTo(outs);
       outs.flush();
      outs.close();
    2) can I rename the file name when I use oreilly package?

    Edited by: Amit_Joshi on Nov 13, 2007 10:58 PM

    Well Well Well..
    That would not work...
    What you have to do is save the uploaded file content on to a location and then pass the fileName as a request parameter to a deidicated which displays the contents of that file.
    Just as an example
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>File Upload Display</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <%
    //ServletOutputStream sout=response.getOutputStream();
    StringBuilder strBuilder = new StringBuilder();
    int count=0;
    String f;
    f=request.getParameter("filedb");
    DBManager dbm = new DBManager();
    //dbm.createTable("mms3");
    //log.info("In JSP : "+ f);
    //dbm.insert_data(f,"mms3");
    %>
    <%
    if (ServletFileUpload.isMultipartContent(request)){
    ServletFileUpload servletFileUpload = new ServletFileUpload(new DiskFileItemFactory());
    List fileItemsList = servletFileUpload.parseRequest(request);
    strBuilder.append("<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" ?>").append('\r').append('\n').append("<xpage version=\"1.0\">").append('\r').append('\n');
    String optionalFileName = "";
    FileItem fileItem = null;
    Iterator it = fileItemsList.iterator();
    ServletOutputStream outputStream=null;
    while (it.hasNext()){
       FileItem fileItemTemp = (FileItem)it.next();
    %>
    Name-value Pair Info:
    Field name: <%= fileItemTemp.getFieldName() %><br/>
    Field value: <%= fileItemTemp.getString() %><br/>
    <%
    if (fileItemTemp.getFieldName().equals("filename"))

    However,this is not the recommended way of doing this make use of MVC pattern.Would be a better approach.
    you might think of googling on this and can findout what is the best practise followed for problems of this sort

  • Unable to get the filename from file upload UI element

    Hi,
    I added a FileUpload UI element.
    I created an attribute of type resource , assigned to the resource property of the file upload element.
    I created an action button called upload and added the following code.
    try {
           IWDResource resource = wdContext.currentContextElement().getFileupload();
          } catch (Exception e) {
             e.printStackTrace();
    when I debug to see the value of resource it is null.
    Please let me know where I am going wrong.
    Regards,
    Narayani

    Hi,
    Check if there are any space characters in your uploading path (file path).
    First try to upload a file without any space characters in the uploading path(file path). If the problem is with the space characters then use the below encoding & decoding to resolve that issue.
    Encoding while uploading the file:
    // Getting the file resource
    IWDResource resource = element.getCtx_va_FileResource();
    //Getting the resource name
    String resourceName = resource.getResourceName();
    //Encoding the resource name
    String encoderesourceName = java.net.URLEncoder.encode(resourceName,"UTF-8");
    Again while downloading you can use decoder.
    Hope this helps to resolve your issue.
    See this below link.
    Re: File Upload Problem
    Try this encoding even if there are no space characters.

  • File Upload UI element is not working properly inside Table Popin container

    Hi Expert,
    I created a table with popin, i placed file-upload UI element inside table popin contatiner.
    The file upload UI element is displaying properly but, when i click the browse button to select  the file, the file open dialog box is not popping out.
    will table popin support file-upload UI element inside it?
    it not is there any other way to call a file_open dialog box from inside the table popin.
    Thanks,
    James

    If you are on NetWeaver 7.01, you can try both the ACFUpDownload UI element or try creating your own FileUpload in Adobe Flex with Flash Islands.  ACFUpDownload requires the KPRO by default (which is why the same application isn't working for you), but you can write your own handler class to act as the KPRO receiver.  Here is an eLearning on the topic:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/109b9b52-bc00-2c10-8786-e4c5e96d7e04

    If you want an eLearning on the FlashIslands approach, you can find it here as well:

    However in both of these approaches you still have to be careful with how you handle large files.  The problem is that they are processed often a single binary string.  This makes the processing easy, but requires total amount of session memory at least as large as the file being uploaded.  In NetWeaver 7.02 ABAP adds the concept of Streams and Locators to help with the partial processing of large files.  This feature doesn't come until later this year, but if you are interested you can learn about it here:
