9ias on Windows XP(Urgent )

Dear All,
I am facing a very strange problem.
Our application is running on Oracle 9ias installed on Windows2000.
When I access this from a WindowsXP M/C with browser(IE 6.0) privacy settings as medium(which is by default medium)and without IP address of 9ias m/c.(Which is infact not required),I do not get the menu of my application generated.
I some how did some hit and trial and now when I put
the IP in proxy settings of my client Browser, I am able to get the menus.
Can anyone give some hint or somebody has faced the
problem like this.
Urgent help is needed.

iAS Rel1 cannot be installed on Windows XP however Rel2 will be installable on Windows XP.

9iAS R2 - Windows XP - IE hangs after some time

Hi,
We are using Oracle 9iAS on Windows XP client PCs. Application runs fine, however after some time, application hangs and IE session does not respond and we cannot do anything else but to end the ie task from task manager.
It looks like Application loses connection with the database server and stops responding.
Whether anyone faced similar problems and have found out any soutions?

I am also experiencing the same problem while using Oracle Application Server 10gR2 on Windows 2000 Adv. Server and the clients are using IE on Windows XP.
1). Would u share ur experience in more detail.
2). which version of Mozilla is perfect with Windows XP 2002 SP 2.
3). Either I have to install Mozilla or FireFox.
PLS describe the Full version of Browser.

9iAS in Windows is better than in Linux ?

The documentation of Oracle 9iAS for LINUX informs the following restrictions:
- Entity Beans in EJB is not supported: Session beans are supported only for accessing the middle-tier database
- EJB and SQLJ are not supported with JDK 1.2: they are supported with JDK 1.1.8
- Oracle Portal is not supported in the Enterprise Edition of 9iAS.
I want to ask if the Oracle 9iAS version for Windows NT/2000 doesn't have all these restrictions ? In that case is it better to install the 9iAS in Windows NT/2000 than in Linux ? or should we wait a new release of 9iAS for linux?

That entity beans in ejb is not supported, and only ejb for jdk 118 continue to prove that oracle does not consider linux a first run operating system. Ports for current releases from oracle go solaris/sparc, NT and then linux some months later, and frequently then with reduced functionality. Same goes for parallel server on linux, same story. I'm running 2000 server and it's blazing, with no documented apache on NT showstoppers. Linux is still not prime time.

XP is not a supported platform. Please try Win2K or NT.

Hi,
I installed 8.1.7 enterprise edition oracle on windows 2000 and also removed IIS from windows .
While installing 9IAS Minimal edition , the problem i get is that
apache listener configuration for 9ias at windows screen doesnt splashes..
However , complete successfully message coming ...
But there is no Http Server or any 9ias product installed actually
What is wrong here ?

I've heard rumors its about a month away. We were waiting for it, but then
decided to go to Linux, as it probably performs better, and the release for
Linux is already out. 9.0.2 is certified on Linux:
- SuSe SLES7
- Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1
Waiting for Oracle to release a software product seems almost like waiting
for a sunny day in Seattle -- you eventaly get it, but its unpredicatable
as to when it will actually be at best...

I would like to add couple of things - based on my recent experince.
We have a client/server 6i forms/reports application running on Linux and Solaris, which I have recently ported to iAS 10g (9.0.4). My biggest issue was the fonts and icons, but the entire application (more forms , less reports than you have) took only a week. Still have problem with the graphics - still depends on the 6i graphics :( -- most of the charts are now in reports. There are some "form properties" that are obsolete now, and on linux non of the vbx, etc is supported. I am not sure that applies to the windows version of iAS.
You should also consider licensing. If you are licensed for full stack of iAS EE (includes forms/reports services), then you better utilize single sign on (for added security) and portal, etc. I really liked the portal capabilities. If you only licensed for the Forms/Reports services, then you have no other option (and no headache for sso, infra metadata repository, etc) by default.
For training, I took some courses from Oracle. One of them was the iAS administrator I course. In that particular course, they do not teach deploying forms at all. And if you only deploy Forms/Reports services, I don't thing the iAS administrator II (second part of the course) will not worth the money - they have a CD based offering for that and I think for ~400$ that is a better deal. I was able to deploy our forms/reports on iAS with not too much of a problem (after reading the manuals and white papers from OTN/Metalink). If you are licensed for full stack, then Portal class is really nice - I highly recommended (I can even suggest a particular instructor if you are interested). Oracle also has a class teaching how to develop java by using JDeveloper. That might be very useful for your java programmer/s - given that JDeveloper is now free and includes Oracle Application Development Framework. Even if you are not going to use the full stack of iAS, knowing JDeveloper is nice to complement Forms applications.
Another thing is that certain version of Windows OS (2003 server) might be required to run Forms/Reports Services. There is a FAQ pdf file on OTN, also it a certification matrix is available on Metalink (if you have a valid CSI# you can open an account on Metalink).

Problems with Oracle 9iAS in Windows NT version spanish

Hello:
We want to know if anybody has successfully installed Oracle 9iAS in a Windows NT Server (service pack 6) version spanish (not english).
We suspect that the the language of the NT machine (spanish) is the cause of the following error message when we try to configurate the Database Cache of the 9iAS:
"UNABLE TO VALIDATE NT CREDENTIALS"
when we give the password of the administrator user who is logged in NT.
Any help will be very appreciated by us.

Try placing this file in the \WINNT\system32 directory. The builder does not automatically include this file or install in on the new machine.

Oracle 8i Installation with Windows XP - Urgent

Once I restart the computer, The database service fails to start, I have tried a number of things like starting it mannualy and starting oracle from command prompt. This is urgent can any one help me please, This is urgent.

This should be a workaround for your problem. Let me know if it works or not.
1. Create a temporary directory on your server.
2. Copy the contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD to the temporary directory created in step 1.
3. Search the directory structure created in step 1 for the existence of the filename symcjit.dll.
4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.
5. Run the setup.exe from the \install\win32 directory and install Oracle 8.1.x.

Installing Oracle 9iAS on Windows problem

I've installed 9iAS server using standard Windows installer. Later on, I unistalled it using Oracle installer.
Now I have problem installing it again: i get message: "All Oracle9iAS installations on a host mustbe installed by the same operating system user...". But I AM shure, that previos installation was made whit the same OS user (no other users on my machine:).
How can I reinstall 9iAS?

I am new to Toshiba. I hav a 60 GB hard disk with no partition and windows XP home installed. I want to partition the hard disk now. Now after formatting the hard disk do i lose Windows XP HE completely or is there chance to recover it and reinstall it. Urgent help needed.

You can reinstall your notebook using Recovery CD. It is easiest and fastest way to reinstall OS, all necessary drivers and tools. Put Recovery CD into DVD-ROM, start notebook and press down C button. At the beginning there is choice between two kinds of installation (Standard mode and expert mode).
If you choose the first one whole HDD will be formatted and used for OS installation. With second one (expert mode) it is possible to install OS on first partition. It is also possible to define how big the partition should be.
Try it. It is very simple to do it.

First, make sure that the iPod is fully charged.
iPods come pre-formatted for Mac, so you will need to format it for Windows.
See this article to verify its format: How to determine iPod's hard disk format.
Make sure that you have the latest iPod Updater software
- Download the Update Installer to your PC (do not run it from the web site).
- Place the file on the Desktop, or in a Folder you can remember/find.
- You also need to install the Updater software by double-clicking on the file that downloads.
- After you install the Updater to your PC, reboot your computer.
- After rebooting, run the Updater.
--- Go to: Start ==> Programs ==> iPod.
- It should initialize then ask you to connect an iPod.
- Connect the iPod when asked (not before) and you should have two options available: Update or Restore.
--- Choose the Restore option and it will update your iPod's firmware to the latest version and format (erase) your iPod's hard drive.

Color Sampler not working outside my window! Urgent, please help!

I just installed Photoshop on my Surface Pro 3. I am doing a presentation in a few hours where I will need to be able to demonstrate the use of the Color Sampler outside the window. It doesn't work. It goes up to the edge of the workspace but does not sample beyond that. I've tried using the pen, the trackpad and the mouse. None of them work. If I try to do it on my Windows 8.1 desktop, it works fine. Help!

Just looked into this and have found a resolution. Always learning new tricks!! So forgive me I was wrong in the first post.
You CAN do it by clicking within the workspace and then dragging outside so continually holding down then letting go outside the workspace.

Changing the name of serial communication example in lab windows. Urgent help required

I am using the example of getting data from rs 232 in lab windows. I want to use this in my final year project that's why I want to change its name that appears as "serial communication example" how can I change its name and how can I make its exe file that will run on any system even without lab windows.
How can I modify this example to save the data. I am very new to lab windows, I was using hyper terminal previously.

I am not informed about the file format that hyperterminal uses. However, CVI allows wiring to files. To get a list of functions that deal with file handling, press <Ctrl-Shift-p> to get the "Find Function Panel" dialog. Type in "file" and press the "Find" button. This will open a list of funtions that contain "file" in their name.
