A bug in the warehouse builder regarding mappings of dimensions
Hi there
I do not know if this is the right place to submit a possible bug. Anyways - here goes.
Warehouse builder client: 10.1.0.2.0
Warehouse builder repository: 10.1.0.1.0
I'm creating a dimension, having one level attributes property as a varchar2(30). Thus it has a length of 30. Now, later on I decide this was an error. I update the property to a number, deploys, and reconcile the dimension inbound in the mapping. From now on, it will give an error, since it remembers the length. And a number has a size, not a length. If I remove the dimension from the mapping, and inserts it again, the error still occurs.
By the way, I am able to reproduce this.
Anyone who has experienced this, and can blame the stupid user (me) or classify this as a bug?
Yours
Kim Andersen
Hi Igor
The "error" is actually a "warning":
Warning: VLD-1004: Column length of ASD_ASDASD is longer than the target column length.
where ASD_ASDASD is the dimension property, which I altered. It is annoying, though, to have warnings on the list, that aren't needed. And I also spent considerable time thinking that was the error in a mapping, whereas it was a stupid mistake made by me somewhere else :)
If it's a registered bug, do I get to win some branded Oracle candy?! :)

Bug in the flex builder installer
I found a bug in the Flex builder installer, while someone
tried to install Flex on top of our EasyEclipse eclipse distro.
I am making a post here since I could not find a way to
report a bug anywhere on the Adobe web site :-\
So the bug is that the installer is looking for an eclipse
installation that is packaged exactly like the Eclipse platform,
but also specifically checks for the presence of features named
org.eclipse.rcp and org.eclipse.platform.
Yet the flex features themselves do not care about other
features only about the platform plugins to be present, as it
shoudl be.
It is considered a bad practice by the Eclipse platform team
to have a dependecy on features, and it is recommended to use
instead plugin depdencies.
See
http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Version_Numbering#Versioning_features
As a result, Flex cannot be installed anywhere but on a vanilla
Eclipse.
EasyEclipse does not ship the base features of the Eclipse
platform, yet all the Flex plugins dependencies are statisfied.
See our forum for more details:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=3982548Getting back to the original message in this thread, I want
to post an update about what I learned on digging deeper. The Flex
Builder 2.0.1 Plug-in version does not require a vanilla eclipse to
install into, but it does impose some minimal constraints. Before
release, we installed FB 2.0.1 Plug-in successfully with several
customized Eclipse configurations, including RSA7 and BEA, each of
which uses a different folder configuration for its product
extension point.
I took a close look at the dependency list for our FB 2.0.1
features, and these have been plugin-based dependencies all along,
not feature dependencies. I understand why it might appear as if
they're feature-based though, because our installer requires that
the feature named org.eclipse.platform be present.
We have the installer look for that feature, because that's
the way Eclipse's update manager reports what's already installed
and available. Eclipse's commandline API for updates only provides
Feature info, not Plugin info:
http://help.eclipse.org/help32/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv/reference/mis c/update_standalone.html
The FB Plug-in installer checks for the existence of
org.eclipse.platform so that we have some assurance that the
version of eclipse proposed is at least version 3.1.2 or higher. In
our next release, we'll explore alternate way of gleaning this same
information, with the intention of allowing plug-in installs into
products such as EasyEclipse that don't include any Eclipse
features in their products.

Problems to Register a WorkFlow Location in the Warehouse Builder!
Hello people,
I'm trying to register a WorkFlow location in the Warehouse Builder, but it's appearing an ERROR saying that don't exist a WorkFlow Repository although the repository tables are already installed...
I'm not understanding... i'll really appreciate any comment.. tks!Hello Panopano,
Sorry for the late...
I had been absent in the last days, but now I'm trying to solve this problem again.
Owb version is 10.1 Release 1 and WorkFlow Server is 2.6.3!
I hope we can finalize this problem... thanks a lot.! -
Where can I get a specific LIST of the warehouse builder "core features" ?
I see references to a specific list in various places for 10gR2 and 11g but have yet to stumble upon said list. Can someone give me a URL? So far the main thing I see as an added option is Data Pump.
ThanksWell, this looks about as specific as Oracle is going to make it. They say essentially what you said, if you don't see it in the defined extra cost option assume it's a core capability. But the reason I was thinking Data Pump is extra cost is things like this:
[Oracle Warehouse Builder Enterprise ETL Option|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/owb.111/b31278/concept_overview.htm#CEGEIDFG]
Enables higher developer productivity in (larger) projects. Also
allows for reuse of transformation logic and for certain *fast
extraction methods in large volume data movements.* -
Oracle Warehouse Builder 11GR2 -no time dimension wizard?
Hi,
I am running OWB 11GR2 on top of a 11GR2 database (OEL 5.4 64 bit).
I don't have a time dimension wizard, just a normal wizard. What I do is right-click, new dimension....but no time wizard. How can I activate it?
I have installed everything several times, but no luck...
Can anyone help, please?Hi
Right Johnny. This happened when we moved to the new UI, all objects can be created using the New 'gallery' style approach, not exactly intuitive for how you remember time dimensions being created but it's still all there.
Cheers

Oracle Warehouse Builder 10.1.0.4 on Windows 2008 - 64 bits
Hi Gurus.
I'm currently working with a customer who wants to migrate all their database-servers to Windows 2008 on 64-bits processors. They're using Oracle Database Enterprise Edition 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) and Oracle Warehouse Builder (10.1.0.4). The OWB-clients will still run on Windows XP. I've used the "Certify"-funcionality on Metalink, but it doesn't really answer my questions. (It does* ansver some of my questions, but it also raises a few new ones....)
My main question is: Can you run serverside OWB 10.1.0.4 on Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.4 for Windows 2008 64-bits?
Thanks in advance:-)
Best regards
Helge
Edited by: user613304 on Mar 6, 2009 11:10 PMNo.
Oracle Warehouse Builder version 10.1.x was desupported on 16-JUL-2007.
The desupport notice is available on Metalink (Note 376384.1).
The Warehouse Builder installation as part of the 11.1.0.7 installation should be certified, but I cannot find specifics. -
Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g installation issues
Hi All,
I have downloaded the OWB 10g, from the site. I have Oracle 10g (Release 2) database server installed on the machine.
When I start installing Oracle Warehouse Builder 10g, it just does the client installation and I am not able to find out were should I search for the OWB server installation?
Even I have checked by installing the same but I just have Repository Assistant , Design Center and Repository Browser available on the machine. I could not find the Runtime Assistant & Control Center to work on?
Can somebody help me out with these issues?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
AnandHi...
There is an explanations..from the FAQ itself :
How do I download and install Warehouse Builder Client versus Warehouse Builder Server?
Warehouse Builder is a single install image that contains both Client and Server components, which are installed at the same time as part of the installation process. If the deployment target database is on the same machine as Warehouse Builder Client UI, there is one single installation process. If the deployment target database is on a separate machine, the install process has to be run twice, repeating the exact same install process on the client machine (to run the Warehouse Builder Design client) and the deployment target machine. Normally when installing the repository, either locally or remotely, the OWB software needs to be already present on the machine. However, it is possible to skip or defer the step of installing on the target deployment machine. This is referred to as a “Remote Target Configuration”. More information on this can be found in the Installation Guide, Chapter 2, “Remote Target”.
hope this helps...

Warehouse Builder + Worflow Server
Hello
I have installed Oracle WareHouse Builder 10.1.0.2 in server and client, also installed Oracle Workflow Server 2.6.3 in server .
Each time i try to deploy a process to the workflow repository i have the following error:
"Workflow version is 2.6.4 in server version is 2.6.3"
Server version is 2.6.3 , in client i an using the warehouse builder, wich has a small workflow interface with version 2.6.4 ....
If i go to download pages in technet the lattest version of Worflow server is 2.6.3 ... i am confused ...
any help ?
Best Regards
Rui MadalenoHi Rui,
I'm a bit confused too... but then I looked up the drop down list in the product and it has the following options for the OWF versions (this is per location):
2.6.2
2.6.3
2.6.4
What you will need to do is change your workflow location to contain version 2.6.3. Than you should be all set.
Thanks,

Oracle Warehouse Builder:Customised job summary format
Hi experts,
We need customised job summary information or log file in OWB such as:
(a) Total records read from data file;
(b) Total records processed;
(c) Total records successfully loaded;
(d) Total records failed;
(e) Failure records details.
Can anyone suggest how we can achieve this?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance..

Licensing about Oracle Warehouse Builder
Hi,
If we install trial version of oracle warehouse builder v 9.2 from oracle website, does anybody know whether all the functionalities of oracle warehouse builder are available or are there any restrictions in using the trial version of the oracle warehouse builder.
My second question is:
Do we need Oracle 9i database to install oracle warehouse builder.
After I installed Oracle warehouse builder when I clicked on start-->Programs-->Oracle 9i Developer Suite-->Warehouse builder-->OWB Client, when I open the OWB Client it's asking me for warehouse builder log on but it didn't ask for any username and password while I'm installing oracle warehouse builder. So, which username and password should I enter to log in to the OWB Client. And also can anyone please tell me what to enter into the Oracle Service name field.
Any help is appreciated.........
Thanks,
-Deepa.There are no restriction in the warehouse builder version available from the OTN site. If you are using Warehouse Builder for commercial purposes (and if you want support and assistance from Oracle) you should pay for an Oracle Developer Suite license (as many of them as you have developers). currently it is $5000 per user (you also get JDeveloper, client Discoverer, BI beans etc.).
As for the OWB installation, you did not complete all the steps. After installing the software on your machine, you must install the design repository (this is when you will be asked to enter the user/password for the OWB client) and the runtime repository and schema (where you will deploy your data warehouse). For details, please read the installation and configuration guide (http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B11000_02/toc.htm).

Is workflow included in 10.2.0.4 warehouse builder?
Hi there
Is oracle workflow included within 10.2.0.4?
From otherhelpful replies, I have learnt we need to install oracle 10.2.0.1 then the 10.2.04 patch to bring us up to 10.2.0.4.
We need to run process flows so I understand we need oracle workflow.
Is this included within the warehouse builder installs (both client and server or is it just a the server-side we would need to worry about?) or do we need separate installs for these?
Does anyone know which versions of worklfow we would need for 10.2.0.4 in the event that separate installs are needed?
Many ThanksHi Patrick
Thanks for the info.
Just finished installing 10.2.0.1 on Windows client and the 10.2.0.4 patch on top of that.
Can I assume I can ignore the bit in the readme below where it talks about the upgrade utility since we have yet to create our repository.
Many Thanks
5. Navigate to the appropriate execution directory under the Warehouse Builder home directory and run the upgrade utility. The specific file you should execute depends on the release of the Oracle Database you are running.
For Windows, the .bat files are located under the win32 directory. If your Oracle Database is either 9iR2 or10gR1 run the following:
owb home/owb/bin/win32/DTupg102to10204_10gR1.bat
Or, if your Oracle Database is 10gR2 run the following:
owb home/owb/bin/win32/DTupg102to10204_10gR2.bat
For UNIX, the .sh files are located under the unix directory. If your Oracle Database is either 9iR2 or 10gR1, run the following:
owb home/owb/bin/unix/DTupg102to10204_10gR1.sh
Or, if your Oracle Database is 10gR2 run the following:
owb home/owb/bin/unix/DTupg102to10204_10gR2.sh
6. Enter the database connection information, the Warehouse Builder repository owner credentials, and the SYS user credentials.
The upgrade utility proceeds to upgrade the Warehouse Builder objects associated with the selected repository owner.
The upgrade utility logs any errors in the file owb home/owb/reposasst/upg/LOG.TXT. Note that you can ignore any creation errors reported due to objects already existing.

Oracle 9i with Warehouse builder
Hi,
We have instaled the warehouse builder 10g but we are using it with a database 9i. All worked ok instead of the workflow. We have installed the 2.6.3 but it does not work with our database any idea of how to solve it?Maybe this will help:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/workflow/wf_info.html
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/workflow/release262/workflow_faq.html
In which database versions can Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 be installed?
Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 can be installed in Oracle9i version 9.0.1 Enterprise and Standard Edition databases. Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 also requires the JServer database option to be installed.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/workflow/release263/workflow_faq.html
What platforms does Oracle Workflow 2.6.3 support?
Oracle Workflow 2.6.3 is available on all platforms supported by Oracle Database 10g. -

I have installed database Rel. 2. JDevelopper 9.0.3.2 with BI Beans 9.0.3.6.
Additionally I installed the warehouse builder 9.2.0.2.8. Since I did this I receive the following error message by starting JDevelopper:

DamianNo both installations are on the same machine!
on C:\oracle\ora92 the database Rel. 2

The Warehouse Buider I installed in the JDev9032 home.
Because when I wanted to install it in the database home,
the installer stopped me with the message that I can't install it in an oracle home, which already has an rdbms installed.
