A Car Radio and My Samsung Galaxy S3

How can I connect my Samsung Galaxy S3 to my sony radio USB port? Do I need an adapter. If I do what kind?

Not all car stereos have a USB port. To verify whether your car stereo has a USB port where external devices can be connected, check the specifications, which are available through the Manuals/Specs/Warranty page.

I have an iPhone 6 with ios 8.1.1 operating system. The Bluetooth pairs with my Sony car radio and works fine. However, the iPhone will not stop searching for other devices. This does not seem to affect anything, but I can't help but think it is using battery power.

    One possibility:
How do you know it is searching for other devices?  Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?
Why is it searching for other devices? Because you opened Settings > Bluetooth?

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • I am unable to switch to next song using my car radio and iphone

    I have an iPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.2 (11A501)
My 2013 Camry has bluetooth function. So I paired my iPhone 4s to the bluetooth (via CarMultiMedia) in my car audio so I can make hands free calls and listen to music stored on my iphone.
So using my car audio system, I can select BlueTooth and listen to my iPhones songs via the car radio.
    This works fine.
However, I noticed just 2 days ago (10/4/13) thats while I can listen to the songs, I cannot change/skip to the next song using the up/down arrow on my car radio.
I installed iOS7 back in late September, and I was able to use the skip up/down to change songs.
Anyone have any clues for me
    1. why this function no longer work?
    2. How to get it back to work?

  • Verizon Customer Service and Samsung Galaxy S III

A little over 3 weeks ago I purchased a Samsung Galaxy III phone from Verizon.
    The exact store is:
    224 North Weber Road,
    Bolingbrook, IL 60440
    (630) 226-4660
When I purchased the phone the person who sold me the phone told me that I had 30 days, If I was not completely satisfied with the phone I could return it and get my money back.  However, he assured me that I would LOVE my new phone.
I had just come off using a Blackberry for 4 years with no problems AT ALL!  I loved that phone, but I thought it would be nice to get up to the 21st century phone standards and get a touch screen phone.  Well, I went for the best…… or so I thought.
As soon as I got my new phone in the car, I started using the speaker phone hands free.  The speakerphone began to cut in and out and the person, my husband whom I most speak with could not understand what I was saying.  I used the speakerphone on my Blackberry without issue.  I did not think much of it because I was so happy to have my new phone.  I thought maybe I was just in a bad area etc… Well the issue persisted also when I called my bank, my husband’s mother, my mother and it did not matter where I was the speaker phone did not work properly.  Then my phone started to drop calls.  Again, I thought it may have been the area, but it started happening a lot.  So now I was really beginning to wonder.  Having though I was still under the 30 DAY warranty, I gave it a few more days.  I began having to take out the battery to reset the unit because apps where disappearing and when I went to re-install them the unit indicated that app was already on my phone and wanted to know if I would like to uninstall the app.  I had to once again take out the battery and have the unit restart.  Well, I could not take it anymore.  With all of the things going wrong only a couple of weeks after purchase, I had to go into the store and see what they could do for me.  I went in and explained my situation to the manger who was greeting people at the door, I think her name was Katie or something like that.  She put me in line on her IPad just like everyone else for someone to assist me.  I was assigned to a very pleasant associate who took the battery out of my phone and said try this to see if this works for you.  I, not knowing very much about the technology said ok and walked out of the store.  Well it kept on getting worse.  I went back to the store on Sunday, September 30th 2012 asking for my money back or a new replacement for the phone.   They would not assist me. I started with a regular associate and went up the chain finally getting Katie (the store manager) who repeated everything that everyone else said.  So, obviously, she has no managerial skills at all.   She stated that they would have to totally reset my phone to see if some apps where conflicting etc.  Isn’t that what you purchase a Smartphone for??? To put apps on it and calendars etc.  I just downloaded a calendar and Xfinity because that is what I have my e-mail on.  I don’t’ think that was the issue, but you could not tell Katie anything.
I wanted a new phone replacement or money back as I spent $300.00 dollars on this phone.  She would not have it.  She said we have to go through the proper trouble shooting because I was out of the 14 day return policy!!!!.   OMGsh 14 days????  I was told 30!  Had I known this, I would have gotten my money back the first time I took the phone in for the issues I was having.  At that time, I was still under the 14 day policy!  I proceeded to express my opinion to everyone in the store stating “Don’t buy a Samsung Galaxy III” They are pieces of **bleep**. Well, needless to say Katie did not like that and she set my phone down in front of me and said, if I am going to swear, she is not going to help me.  Ok, then I re-worded my statement to tell everyone in the store “Don’t buy a Samsung Galaxy III they are pieces of garbage”  I cleaned it up a little, but still got my point across.  I also told her that I would blog about it and send a letter to the corporate office of both Samsung and Verizon.  I don’t think that she believed me, but here I am taking my time for this stuff.  Time I don’t have much of, but I feel very strongly about this situation.  I was lied to and Katie had the nerve to tell me that if I get a replacement phone from them, it would be a refurbished unit even though I just purchased the unit 3 weeks earlier.  THAT is unacceptable by any standards!!!
Needless to say I left the store totally dissatisfied with Verizon’s customer service and the Samsung Galaxy III phone.  I have not put any unusual apps on my phone nor have I downloaded a new calendar to my phone and I am still having the same issues with dropped calls and bad speaker phone.  I will not put any time into this phone for them to tell me they need to reset the whole darn thing again!  I am not going to bother going back to that Verizon store, because I know that they will not lift a finger to do anything about it.
My husband wants an IPhone 5.  We will not be purchasing this from Verizon and I will probably eat the cancellation fee and go through AT&T so that my husband can get his IPhone.  I will never purchase another thing from Verizon, this is not the first time that that they have let me down.
I hope that this letter, blog, facebook, YouTube note will open some eyes with regard to Verizon customer service and the Samsung Galaxy III phone.  I don’t know if it will, but with social media as it is, I hope it DOES!
    Thanks for nothing Verizon!!!
    Sincerely
    Donna {edited for privacy}

  • HP Pavilion Desitop & Samsung Galaxy s3 Phone won't pair

My HP Pavilion Elite-HPE-4801t Windows7 and my Samsung Galaxy s3 os v.4.3 will not pair using bluetooth.  All devices are up to date with software, drivers and updates.
I am also using a Netgear WIND4500 Wireless Router for my home network and I can see both devices on the network and both have internet access.
From my HP desktop I can go to devices and select [add device] which then finds my Samsung Galaxy s3. After selecting device and clicking next..my S3 receives a message showing a pairing code.  After choosing [ok] and a few minutes I receive a msg on the phone "Confirm passkey xxxxxx [yes][no]" & selecting [yes] i receive a "Error Unable to pair with xxxx-HP. Incorrect PIN or password."
From my Galaxy S3 phone can go to bluetooth settings [available devices] which shows my HP desktop name..when I select I get "Bluetooth pairing request" "Confirm passkey is xxxxxx to pair with the HP desktop [cancel][ok]. I select [ok] and it shows "Pairing..." the I get the Error msg 'Unable to pair with xxxx-HP. Incorrect PIN or password"
The s3 & s4 do not allow you to manually enter the PIN or passcode.  It's automatic [cancel] or [ok] only so I cannot confirm if the pairing passcode is the same on both devices.  What's up with that?
I have tried everything I have read in the HP, Samsung, Internet forums.
    Shut down both systems
Uninstalled & reinstalled drivers both bluetooth & phone
Checked firewall including disabling antivirus & firewall.
It appears to me that the:
HP desktop sees the Samsung s3 phone and the
Samsung s3 sees the HP desktop
I have unpaired all other wireless devices, cleared cache and data with no luck
They just won't pair to each other.
    PS.
I have also tried to pair my Samsung s4 phone with the same results.
I can connect a USB cable and with a little tweaking can transfer files both ways.
I can also auto connect with my Motorola "Roadster" bluetooth hands-free car speaker and I can connect the s3 to any of serveral bluetooth wireless speakers I have. ie; Motorola, Creative, etc.
I also have a Samsung inFuse phone and have no problem pairing the HP and inFuse using bluetooth.
I have not solved this problem nor have I seen a solution since I first got the Galaxy s3 & s4 phones. At this point I have to either "live with it" or "no mas"
Sorry this post is so long...it is my history of flustration with bluetooth phone pairing.
Anybody out there got a fix???????

    Hi,
Samsung has stopped at one point the distribution for android 4.3 to many international countries.  There were many problems and some were Bluetooth related.  I can't say the Bluetooth problems are the same as what you are experiencing.  See this post.
I have paired my S3 with Windows Windows 7 and 8 and I do remember having to enter the passkey (auto generated) at least once to set up the initial parring.  I am on android 4.1.2.
You might try uninstalling Samsung Kies and the S3 drivers and then reinstall.  Try the latest drivers from the Samsung site if necessary.
Be sure that your PC is using the same Bluetooth level as your android 4.3. supports.

  • TS1425 iPod nano - loses functionality when connected to car radio

For the past week, when I connect my iPod nano (4th generation) to a car radio (and I've tried it in several) it brings up a splash screen of the radio manufacturer which stays on the iPod screen and prevents any further access to the iPod functionality. This only happens when connected to a car radio, otherwise the iPod functions normally. So in effect, the iPod is unusable when connected to the car radio, which is where I do most of my listening. Anyone know how to help eliminate this problem?

It sounds like a battery issue to me. When you connect it to the PC it draws power from the computer and thus it is able to function. Apparently it doesn't have enough of its own juice anymore. You probably just need a new battery.

  • I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I've paired it to my Mac. It was all working fine up until about a week ago, but now when I try to "Send file to device" nothing happens...

I've had my Mac and my Samsung for about 2 yeas now and I haven't had any problems with the two in regards to Bluetooth. As of about a week ago, I could no longer send files from my Mac to my Samsung. I don't know what has gone wrong, but the devices are still paired and I haven't changed any settings. I don't understand how it can just stop working
When I click the "send File to device" option, it doesn't freeze or give me any notice stating the devices are not connected, it just does nothing.

I have the opposite problem. I cannot "browse device".
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini which was working fabulously through Kies and Bluetooth (on Lion) until I upgraded to Mavericks about 3 weeks ago.
Now, when I go to Bluetooth and "Browse Device", the following happens:
The Mac will eventually find the phone, say "connected" then it will say "the device does not have the necessary services".  This is despite the fact that both are discoverable and have been previously paired.
Bizzarely though, I can send a file from my Mac to my phone through the "send file" command.  That works fine....
Is there something I am doing wrong or is this problem just symptomatic of the ongoing Apple-Samsung spat?
And yes, I know that Kies is now no longer supported by Mavericks and vice versa (boo!), so I have had to use other rather cranky solutions (Android File Transfer) and a faffy google calendar sync to sort the rest of the compatability problems out. The Bluetooth issue is just odd though.
If this is just an Apple-Samsung software war problem, I really wish both would grow up.  Many people no longer care who made what first, we just want stuff that works.  If iPhone contracts were cheaper, I would get one, but I refuse to pay more than £15 p/m for a mobile phone, sorry Apple.

  • Samsung Galaxy S6 pre-order and demo unit?

The pre-orders go up tomorrow for AT&T (and T-Mobile) but none of the stores around me have ANY information. They've also not heard anything about the demo units they are supposed to have tomorrow. According to the Samsung website both of my local stores will be getting a demo unit but neither of them have any idea about it.
I don't care so much about the demo unit but I want to know what pre-order bonus Best Buy will be including? I've heard some talks about the wireless charger being included if you pre-order but T-Mobile is offering up on free year of Netflix if you pre-order through them. Could we get a clarification please?

    Hello DextarRogue,
I really like it when a new device comes along that piques my interest. It really adds to the excitement of a new purchase for me. You ask really great questions about the Samsung Galaxy S6!
About the in-store demo: I recommend keeping in touch with your local store about this issue. As for special pre-order offerings, it looks there is an offering. Please visit BestBuy.com for more information.
I hope this helps. If you have more questions, please let me know.

It also has been tried in 2 different 2014 models. I don't know if it's a Verizon/Samsung issue but I'm quite upset about it. • Sony DSX-S310BTX and Samsung Galaxy S4

    Hello,
I have been using the DSX-S310BTX for awhile now, got my new Samsung Galaxy S4 and found I could not pair it with deck.  The phone does not see the deck at all.  Bluetooth is on on both devices.  The phone can pair with other devices no problem, but not the deck.  I am a bit upset about this, I enjoy streaming pandora from my phone through the deck, but now I must consider getting a different deck if I can' resolve this.  I hope you team can help me.
My second problem with the deck is that it sometimes doesn't see my ipod classic when it is installed in the internal bay.  They only way I have resolved this is by pulling the power of the deck from the car!  Then it works for about a week before it stops working again.
P.S. I have compared the specification of both devices and they look like it should work with bluetooth.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi dobest,
Before the pairing is made with the Samsung smartphone, set the Sony unit to pairing standby mode.
While connected to a Bluetooth device, this unit cannot be detected from another device. Disconnect the current connection and search for this unit from another device.
When the device pairing is made, set the Bluetooth signal output to on
Also, check the pairing and connection procedures in the manual of the smartphone, and perform the operation again.

You don't get the itunes program on your Android devise at all.
You would need to read the directions for your phone to learn how to put music on it.
