A new site made possible by unlimited layouts!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share a new site we took live this week with you all. Thanks to Adobe's new feature of unlimited layouts in web apps, and the new email marketing module funtionality, we were able to pull this off. It wouldn't have been possible without these new features. Kudos to Adobe and the whole BC team for giving us the tools to produce work like this. Thank you, and we hope everyone is enjoying and benefitting from the new features as much as we are!
Here's a peek at the new site we took live this week---and it's fully responsive, too!

Hi Tim,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'm afraid I'm not following just yet. Using the example of your site above, I'm trying to figure out how you've organized things, because I really just don't know where to start. Is "Eat" a separate web app from "Make" or do they both belong to the same web app? If it's the same app (maybe what you call the main?), are "eat" and "make" then categories (or classifications?) within that main app? I just don't understand what you wrote, I'm sorry. When I look around in BC after creating a web app and adding items it doesn't become any clearer.
I probably need to go watch the BC Gurus videos again, and look at your site some more before asking any more questions. I'm just so confused by it all. When I watch the tutorials I can follow it but then can't seem to translate it to my situation. I'll need a breakdown very much like yours, with a few main categories (cats, dogs, etc) and then smaller subcategories (behavior, health, nutrition).
The pet magazine is only coming out every other month and has roughly 8-10 articles in each issue. I don't think a blog would be the best way to handle those, and using individual pages would become unwieldy quickly. So I think the answer is one (or more) web apps, I'm just struggling with understanding how everything is organized and categorized. I'll do some more studying when I can and come back with more specific questions when I can actually formulate them. Thanks anyway though, I appreciate the fact that you answered and I'm sorry I couldn't follow.

  • Data type change made to schema.xml of comments list which is part of blog site template is not reflecting in the existing site but working fine when new site is created.

    Hi,
I have created a blog site with the available site template few days back. Now we have the requirement of having the attachments in the body of the comments section.
So, I updated the schema.xml of the comments list available under ../templates/blog/lists/comments/schema.xml to have rich text for the Body field.
With this change, I created a new site and it was working fine. Change is reflected in the new blog site.
However, this particular change is not reflected in the existing blog site. Any changes made to the schema.xml is not effecting the old blog site.
Can anyone suggest what can be done for the change to be reflected in the old blog site?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards, Keerthi Suryadevara

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add attachments in the body of the comments section.
You can add the the Code inside the Default list pages. For more information, you can refer to:
Enable Attachment in SharePoint Blog post list and display the list Attachments
In addition, you can add an enhanced rich text field to the comment list and remove the body field. Then you can insert files into comments, too.
Here is a similar thread for your reference:

  • Problem adding a new field to existing BPS planning layout

    Hi
I am new to BPS and planning
I have a requirement to add a new field which has values maintained as 0 and 1 to an existing planning cube. The user wants this new field in the existing planning layout where in he can enter the values for this field as 0 or 1.I have created a new field and maintained values for this field as 0 and 1.I have added this field to the existing planning area and have created variable with fixed value with range 0 to1.I have added the same in selections in existing planning level and package as well along with other existing selection conditions.
In additional functions of adhoc package they have made setting as set to all possible char combination.
In this planning area all the selections are locked in planning level and package.
Now when i execute the planning layout to enter data,my new field is grayed out,it does not allow me to enter the values.need help  with this as to how can i make this field input enabled. This is an independent characteristic.
    Thanks

  • How do I make new site go live?

Hello, I hope somebody can help me out with this.
My client's site is hosted by and developed in Business Catalyst. They wanted changes and improvements made to the site and these were done on a new build that is now sitting ready to go in the Trial Sites section. What I would like to know is, what is the proceedure for turning off the existing site and replacing it with the new site? Is it a case of deleting the existing live (paid for) site and upgrading the new site to a paid plan? I feel that this isn't the correct thing to do.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Grant

Liam read the subject line of your forum thread and immediately formed his own conclusion.  He should have read more to understand your situation.
Unfortunately, one of the harder development workflows for BC is a redesign.  In order to test ecommerce and some other elements without impacting your original site requires that you create a new site, but there is no merging involved officially on BC's end.  What you'll really need to do is make sure everything is in working order and then copy your /Templates folder and any other folders you need in /Layouts or /_System to your local directory and re-upload those new assets (styles, images, layouts, templates) to your old website and then change the default template in the BC Admin area to your new template.
There is one other major obstacle, though.  If you used heavy BC modules and such in your redesign, each of those are unique to your new trial site.  If you are using content holder modules or showing specific catalogs in ecommerce in your markup, when you copy those pages/templates to your old site the ID's for the data will be for your trial site and won't work on the old one so before updating your templates on the enw site you'll need to replicate all your modules on the old site first by hand I guess and reinsert the module codes after you've uploaded new pages/templates.
I don't think there's an official way to merge just modules, catalogs, templates and pages into an old site, but your new trial site redesign is really just missing the CRM and Traffic data from your old site. IF you are a paid partner, open a support ticket and see if they can merge your old customer data and reporting to your new trial site.  That would be the easiest thing if they can even do that.

On each of your pages you need to add the class="thispage" to your anchor tags.
So the 'About Me' page link looks like below:
    <li><a href="About Me.html" class="thispage">About Me</a></li>
'The Gallery' link on the 'Gallery' page looks like this:
    <li><a href="The Gallery.html" class="thispage">The Gallery</a></li>
Do the same for the 'Studio Work' and 'Contact Us' pages.

They are all quite a subtle grey tone but the one I cannot see is on the 'About Me' page. You just need to bring the grey tone up a few stops.

  • Add a new table to an existing Print Layout Designer report

Is it possible to add a new table to an existing Print Layout Designer report? For example, in the Production Order there is a Sales Order field (which is displayed on the report), I would like to display some information from UDFs found on the Sales Order, but when I add a Database Field to the report the Sales Order tables does not appear in the list (OWOR).

    Hi
It is possible provided there is a relationship which exists between two tables.
You can add a Database field. Goto the Properties and selct Content Tab.
Now in the Table dropdown, hold the Alt Key and click. This displays all the tables in B1. After selecting the Table, you can select the related Column.
Remember there should be a relationship which exists between this column and existing columns.
Because PLD works completely on Joins to my understanding

  • WPC Problem after creation of new Site - no "Edit Page" Link available

    Hello,
I have a problem with WebPageComposer (WPC) and Edit Page link.
We are currently on EP 7.01 SP6.
(I have the wpc_editor_role for my user)
    I am doing the following:
    1) I create a new site, (derived permissions for all folders is wpc_editor_role - Full Control),
    2) I Create some article within its Site Content folder
    3) I create a new web page in its Web Pages folder
    4) assign the article to the web page and publish it
    5) add web page within Site Navigation as a new node
    6) I used Publish Site Navigation
After clicking on the web page within Web Pages folder it does a preview.
Our older WPC content does display the Edit Page link - the new one does not.
What step am I missing here?
Maybe it is an upgrade issue?
    Best Regards, Thomas
P.S.: copying one of our older WPC pages into my new site + renaming it via KM + removing old content + assigning new one does display the correct link after publishing it! Any indeas?

    Dear Thomas,
It sounds like your are doing all the right actions, I don't think that your missing any step in the process, but please consider the following.
Are you using a custom WPC layout template? The reason I ask is that I have developed a number of WPC custom templates and in some circumstances I have needed to remove/hide the "pageheader" section of the template. This action removed the links from displaying at the top of the page. Try creating and publishing a web page using a SAP standard WPC layout and see if the edit link appears once the page is published.
The editing and preview page views do not display the "edit" link, they only display the other page header links that can be assigned to a page. The edit link is only visible when viewing the page via the portal, not in edit mode. Another question, was the deployment of KMCWPC successful and without error? I have experienced issues where the deployment did not fully complete, causing some subtle issues regarding publishing of WPC content and redeploying KMCWPC fixed the issue. I hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • Create a new site collection in different farm and connect to different content database from decommissioned farm

I wish to bring down a SharePoint farm1 and create a new site collection in an existing farm2 and connect the new site collection in farm2 to the content db in farm1.
Is this possible and how should I do it?

it is possible to copy/move a content database from one farm to another... so long as the NEW farm is at least as up-to-date (version/service packs/updates/hotfixes/etc) as the OLD farm.
you can move a site collection into its own content database.
    hopefully that answers your question.

  • OK, I have just changed nameservers but when I go to the new site I am redirected to the old. This only happens with FireFox and Chrome on my computer.

Everyone else can see the new site.. but when I punch the website address into Firefox... I am redirected to the odd site.
Now I have flushed the DNS (ipconfig /flushDNS) and I have cleared the cache, cookies and everything I can possibly clean I have...but it still redirects.
So there is something I am not doing above all that, that I need to do... any ideas what it is.
I have also gone into FireFox config and changed the network.dnsCacheExpiration as the preference name to 0
Thanks guys for the help.. as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.

Do you want to try bypassing your ISP by changing DNS servers? You could try OpenDNS or Google Public DNS. One way to change this is at the Windows level (in the TCP/IP properties dialog), and another is in your router. Something more temporary would be to change your IE connection settings (I think it's under LAN Settings). However, the details are beyond what I can look up at the moment.

  • Can't see my "new site"

I have created a website, then created new pages, sure I can do that, but now, after creating a "New Site", and I can see it and edit it in iWeb, but when i go into iWeb on my "new site" and go "view published site" . . . I cannot see it published... I keep getting this error "We're sorry but we can't find the iWeb page you've requested. It's possible that.." So I put it in as a link to this site I can't see, as a reference off my home page, but it STILL get the same error! Why would this be? I could post my website if that will help solve the problem...
Is there a limit to the number of "sites" one can create in iWeb?
    Thx...

Actually, upon MORE review... the only page that DOES work off my site is my welcome page!!! http://web.mac.com/thetopspot/TopSpot_JocelynKish/Welcome.html what is going on?!?
After saving and "publishing", it says "do you want to visit site"... sure, all looks good, but obviously it is not working!??!?

  • New Site created in iWeb '08 (My experiences)

Ok...So after I installed iLife '08 I went ahead, after carefully making backups, and opened iWeb. Low an behold I started experiencing allot of the issues described on the board.
The one thing I did do that it doesn't seem like anyone else is doing is I decided to recreate each page seperately instead of trying to edit the old site. It sounds crazy and unnecessarily time consuming but it actually works.
I haven't had any issues with the new site at all and things are running smooth. I have another site that I manage that I'm going to start working on now and will relay that experience here once it's complete.
Lastly, I use Coda for post-editing functions, etc. and all went well on that end also.
    http://www.sonsofben.com
If anyone else has a site that was actually finished via iWork '08 please post it as well.

    Hi to everybody !
My iLife 08 package arrived last Thursday and I enthusiasticly installed it and started to open my domain file.
The template on which my site bases (www.kg-pharma.de) was purchased from lifestuff and worked fine so far.
Sure I klicked on "update file" and then saw my file just looking fine on first glance.
But the complete navigation menu was missing !!!
I checked in the inspector and found that the "show navigation bar" was not hooked.
So I hooked and the nav bar appeared, but on the completely wrong side (left side) and with unformatted text. looked horrible.
Formatting impossible, dissable the "show nav bar" also impossible.
I found a post that iWeb 2.0 will not take old templates from 3rd party (at the moment) and being aware that iLifestuff does not exist any more I decided to change domain into a original iWeb template.
So I started to insert new Site (iWeb 1.0 template "modern"), copied all pics/text from old to new and deleted old site.
That worked fine for a while, but after starting next morning I found that a number of pictures are missing. This problem became worse after reopening again, more and mor pics were missing.
Pasting them again did not help, bloody ****, what to do ?
I read that starting from scratch with a iWeb 2.0 will solve the problem, but NO WAY !
I made a new test domain with pictures and had SAME problem, first everything was fine, then after closing and reopen iWeb pics were missing !!
I have no other choice, then to wait until Apple will fix the problem, just cant waste my time with startint again and again from scratch.
Very disappointed that Apple lauched a prototype with such an obvious bug and let test the customers...

  • I want to make a new site in dreamweaver and host it on business cstalyst

I want to make a NEW site in Dreamweaver CC and host it on the Business Catalyst platform. But it seems the only way to use dreamweaver in business Catalyst is to import a BC template into Dreamweaver then upload it to BC. I want to create an original site and use the BC platform, is that possible? This seems like it should be simple and automatic, even encouraged. But as of now the only way to create an original site is to use Adobe Muse. Which is weird, seems like Adobe missed this one somewhere...

I don't think you understand: I want to open Dreamweaver and build a brand new site, then when I am done I want to host the dreamweaver site on the Business Catalyst platform. I dont want to use anything in BC to build the site, I just want to use the hosting platform. I do not want to import a BC site into dreamweaver or anything like that. I just want to use BC the same way I would use godaddy, or uhost or any other hosting provider. Based on your response you said that "of course its possible to build a BC site in Dreamweaver" I dont want to build a BC site, I want to build a Dreamweaver site and host it on the BC platform. Like I said before it doesnt seem like this is possible. As of now we can only build a new site in MUSE and integrate it into BC without using a BC template. Can you understand what I am saying. Sorry for the kind of stupid question. I created a new site collection with Site Management menus. The home page has the URL like http://devtfs12/sites/corporate/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/ I expected that it should look like http://sharepoint.firm.lan/sites/corporate/SitePages/Home.aspx
e.g without "_layouts/15/start.aspx#" is there a  way to change it? Is it possible to set up some sort of redirection so that  http://sharepoint.firm.lan redirects to http://devtfs12/sites/corporate/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/ Thanks!

    Hi,
You are noticing the URL with _layouts/15/start.aspx because the new feature Minimal Download Strategy is activated on your site.
To know more on how it works you can refer the below links
    http://www.wictorwilen.se/sharepoint-2013---introduction-to-the-minimal-download-strategy-mds
    http://www.hezser.de/blog/archive/2012/08/18/what-is-the-_layouts15start-aspx-in-sharepoint-2013.aspx
If you don't want _layouts/15/start.aspx to be a part of your URL you need to deactivate Minimal Download Strategy feature available under Site Actions -> Manager Site Features
Note :Minimal Download Strategy is a new framework which is been written to increase the performance of the SharePoint site.
Also, with SharePoint 2013, you can have Managed Metadata Navigation option. For more information ,

    Hope it helps!

  • Move SUP role from Server 2008 R2 to new Site System running Server 2012 R2

Is it possible to move the primary SUP role which is currently running on a separate site system under Server 2008 R2 (WSUS 3.0 SP2) and move it to a new site system running Server 2012 R2 using the same SUSDB? I've moved the SUP role
around before by setting up a secondary SUP (using the same DB) then removing the primary SUP role which causes the secondary SUP to become the Primary but that was using the same version of OS and WSUS. With the version of WSUS being different
on Server 2012 R2, I was thinking this may not be possible since the documentation says the WSUS versions must be the same when creating multiple SUP roles.

    Hi,
    >>I was thinking this may not be possible since the documentation says the WSUS versions must be the same when creating multiple SUP roles.
As the document indicated, "When you have multiple software update points at a site, ensure that they are all running the same version of WSUS." So the scenario you decribed should be not supported.

  • When a new site is created can a user name and password be generated for it automatically?

I have a work request  from a manager that is asking, when a new site is created (via workflow), that a generic user name and password be created just for that site?
If it is possible I would like for it to be created at the same time as the site be being created or do I need to wait until after the site is created and then trigger a workflow to create the generic  user  account?
this account is only needed to do one thing.. upload documents to a folder.
of course there can be multiple  sites being built at one time and would like for this to be auto generated....  and possible be in a  hidden list so I can include the info in a workflow email letting the receiver of the email know that
they need to use this specific user name and password just for this site.

    Hi SPSAdminTC,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create sites and grant users permissions on the sites via workflow in SharePoint 2013.
Users are stored in AD, before you grant site permissions to them, the name and password have existed in AD users and groups. So, you need to add the users into AD before you grant permissions to them.
In SharePoint 2013 Designer, you can use REST API to create site and assign permissions to users. You can use Send Email action to send email to users and customize the body of the email.
More information, please take a look at:

    I hope this helps.
