A program to decode all encrypted email (gpg) in batch?

Hi,
I have mail stored in maildir format, a  lot of it encrypted with gpg. Is there any program to just batch decrypt the emails and keep them in plain text?
gpg program itself doesn't work because after decrypting it just gives you the decrypted message itself, with no headers, so it's no use to me in a pipe. But it does decrypt, so if only there was a program to keep the headers and run the message body through gpg, that would be ideal.
Every message is in a separate file (it's maildir) so maybe this is doable. I can even imagine a script in bash to do that, but it doesn't sound very easy (there are multipart messages too in there) and I thought - maybe there's something out there?
A bit of background: I'm thinking of moving from mutt to sup and sup doesn't decrypt broken gpg messages generated by enigmail. So I thought I'll just encrypt the whole mailbox with encfs and decrypt individual messages and go with sup.
Any ideas on how to decrypt them all in batch?
Thanks!

The problem you have is a specialized one with specific needs; scripting is the answer here.  You can just as easily use Ruby or Python instead of bash.  You might find it easier to accomplish your task with a very high level language if you haven't done that much scripting.  Unfortunately I'm not quite clear on your exact situation (where are the headers stored if not in the message?) so I can't give you more useful advice.

My computer is running slow after Yosemite install -but in the Mail program, when I open an email and then open the attachment -all is good -when I close the attachment the Mail program goes away, and I have to reopen it in my Dock -every time.

I tried this, but no luck. I went to Previous System>Users. There is nothing inside the "Users" folder, so I hit a dead end.
I can find my new e-mails -- those that came in since I re-installed the system -- in my NEW system (which I did to see if I was correctly understanding the advice), by going to Users>Home>Library>Mail>POP account name>Inbox.
Let me add a new question: I am running PhotoShop C3. It opens OK, and I can use it, but when it opens I get this message: "One or more files for Adobe Application Support folder are missing. Please re-run the PhotoShop installer."
I don't like re-installing working programs if I can avoid it, because it always seems to lead to other issues. Any idea what files are missing, and where it/they might be in the Previous System folder?
    thanks

  • Sending encrypted emails from the iPad is not working

I can't get sending encrypted emails working on my iPad3 running iOS 8.0.2
Let me explain what I did:
    1. I created S/MIME certificates for 2 email addresses on my iMac in Keychain Access. One email address exists only on the iMac the other only on the iPad.
    2. I set "When using this certificate" to "Always Trust" in both certificates.
    3. I exported 1 S/MIME certificate (p12) and installed it on the iPad. Then I deleted this certificate and its private&public keys in iMac Keychain Access
    4. I exchanged public certificates between the 2 devices. I installed one certificate in iMac Keychain Access and the other in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles.
    5. On the iMac in the iPad certificate I set "When using this certificate" to "Always Trust"
    6. I tested whether I can send and receive signed and/or encrypted emails
    Results:
    1. From the iMac I can send signed and/or encrypted emails to the iPad.
On the iPad I can read the encrypted emails. The signature is not trusted
    2. On the iPad I can send signed messages to the iMac. On the iMac the signature is trusted.
I cannot send encrypted emails from the iPad to the iMac. The iPad doesn't know about the public certificate in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles
So much for the straight forward part. Now it gets a bit more complicated and confusing.
    1. I deleted the iMac certificate in the iPad/Settings/General/Profiles. Then in iPad Mail I opened the signed mail coming from the iMac.
I viewed the untrusted certificate in Mail and installed it. From this point on all signed emails from the iMac are trusted.
Strangely the by this method installed certificate doesn't appear in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles.
Furthermore I still cannot send encrypted messages to the iMac. This certificate installation seems to be used only to check trust worthiness of the signature.
Installing on top the iMac public certificate in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles doesn't enable to send encrypted messages from the iPad either.
To be sure that this problem relates to the iPad certificate management and is not related to an error by me I did the following:
    1. I transferred a p12 file for a certificate that I created in my iMac to a PC running Windows7.
    2. I transferred a p12 file plus its public key (.pem) that I created in my iMac to another iMac into Keychain Access. (I have not tested if the pem is needed).
    3. On the other iMac and the PC I made sure that the certificates are trusted.
On the PC that means in the Certificate Manager the p12 needs to be in the "Personal" folder and in the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" folder.
The public keys need to be in the "Trusted People" folder and the "Other People" folder. One can just copy/paste the certificates.
    4. In both cases I deleted the certificate and public/private keys on my iMac.
    5. I exchanged public certificates between the devices.
    6. I tested exchanging signed and/or encrypted emails between my iMac and the PC and my iMac and the other iMac.
    Result:
    1. I can send signed and/or encrypted emails to the other iMac and the PC
    2. The PC and the other iMac trust the signature from my iMac and can read the encrypted emails
    3. My iMac can read encrypted emails from the PC and the other iMac
    4. My iMac trusts emails with signatures from the PC and the other iMac.
Everything is working as it should.
After the above test I wanted to see whether I can set up encrypted email exchange between the iPad and the PC. Strangely iPad Mail recognized the public certificate from the PC installed in iPad/Settings/General/Profiles and allowed me to send an encrypted email to the PC. However, on the PC I was unable to read the encrypted email. And the other way around, encrypted emails send from the PC to the iPad cannot be read on the iPad.
My conclusion from all this testing is that iPad mail encryption is still "under construction".

I was able to resolve the above described problem to some degree. Setting up sending and receiving encrypted emails between iOS and OSX I have working.
What is still not working is reading encrypted emails on the iPad/iOS8 received from Windows 7 PC. And sending encrypted emails to Windows 7 PC.
The details about how I solved part of the problem are described here.

I will be out of work for about a month.  PLEASEE HELPPP!!!! My work email is [email protected]  This is a microsoft exchange email and i use the microsoft web app to long on OWA.  I called Apple and they said they wont be able to help
me restore since this is an exchange email.  I also called my employer and they were not able to help me either.  Please let me know if there is something that can be done to restore my work emails.

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that you want to restore the data after rebuild the Outlook for Mac.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
By default, rebuilding the database deletes any information that is not synchronized with the Exchange Server, including your contacts' certificate. Before you rebuild the database, we recommend to back up the current identity. Therefore, we can re-create
a new identity to resolve your problem. For your reference:

  • How can I export (just copy all of email sent) all emails from outlook 2001

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro 10.8.4 and I would like to know how to copy all of emails that were sent from my outlook 2011. Please help ..

    Hi daviddonald!
I believe that the best option for getting your email into the Mail program will be by exporting your email from Outlook as an .mbox format, and then importing that into mail. An article about completing this procedure can be found right here:
Mac OS X Mail: How to transfer downloaded email from a non-Mac computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1534
If you are just transitioning from using Outlook on your Mac to using Mail on your Mac, then you will want to ignore the parts of that article that deal with transferring the .mbox file to another computer. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden

  • Compacting deleted all my emails

compacting deleted all my emails that i was leaving in my inbox

    No it didn't.
Compact will have created a new index and demonstrated to you that what you thought you had really no longer existed. But it did not delete or loose anything.
Look in your anti virus programs logs for quarantine and deletion of a file called inbox. It will have occurred about the time your mail cuts off. sso if you have say the last months mail the scan that removed your mail will have occurred about a month ago. For some reason users of Norton products appear to be particularly affected.

  • Blackberry Z10 Deleted all my emails

    Guys,
Got a new Z10 a week ago, and for some unknown reason, it deleted all my emails from the past week. I went online to Gmail and it had deleted all my emails from the inbox - I had to find these in the 'all mail' function and put them back in the inbox. Any ideas on how to stop this happening?

    Hey michaelPerthWA,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Do you have this email account setup in Outlook or another email program on the computer?  If you start to receive emails on the webmail and your BlackBerry Z10, when does it usually delete the emails?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

Perhaps since a recent update, I have had to go to "Options" and then click "Allow access......" to receive graphics with appropriate emails. Once you have done this shouldn't the program receive all future emails from each source without having to repeat this step every time? I find this situation time consuming and frustrating. No bad form to worry about, just the reduced attention to your problem that a solved designation causes.
If I remove my gmail account, I'll be able to get all the emails back when I create my new one - because it's imap?
    Yes, but check 2 things,
    1. That it is setup as Imap (POP is possible but is not the default) and 2 that you have not created any local folders that house mail from the Imap account, if you did then you must export them before removing the account.
What do you mean by verify both passwords? You mean imap and smtp?
I assume I should be using the application specific password in my mail settings?
    Thanks,
    Bob
Imap and SMTP should be the same, but check.

  • Accidentally deleting all my emails

I was deleting emails on my iPhone, I don't know what happened, it seems that I accidentally deleted every emails on my inbox. All my emails in the past couple of years are gone.
Even when I come home to my Mac, they are also deleted from the inbox on my Mac.
What can I do to recover them? I have set up Mail on both my iPhone and Mac to only delete deleted emails after 1 month, is there a way to recover them?

Have you checked, on your Mac. the trash folders (email program first, the mac one then) ?
If mail deletes on iPhone are synced with your home mac, without the need of any sync on your side, it means your email account is most likely IMAP. To recover them, ask your email provider helpdesk, it may happen they keep a daily backup and can restore your mailbox status.

  • Signed and Encrypted Emails

    Hi all,
I'm having issues with viewing Signed or Signed & Encrypted emails, I'm using iOS 4.1 and have added my email certificates using IPhone Configuration Tool.

LiveCycle does not handle signed or encrypted emails out of the box.
You could develop a component to do this, or you could get someone to develop it for you.

  • Unable to send encrypted emails to recipients with valid, trusted certs

I'm trying to send an encrypted email to a recipient for whom I have a valid, trusted cert. When I view his cert in Keychain, it gets a green check mark for being valid. Under Trust, I have "Always Trust" selected for "Secure Mime (S/MIME)" and "X.509 Basic Policy". All the certs in the chain are in place and trusted with these same settings.
Signed emails from this user get a black check mark in the Security field of the Mail message viewer. I can also click the lock closed when writing the email. However, when I click Send, I get an error that "An error occurred while trying to encrypt your message. Verify that you have valid certificates in the keychain for all of the recipients."
I have the cert for the user plus the others in the trust chain in my login keychain as described above. I have a DoD ECA certificate, but this happens with non-ECA recipients. I'm unable to get the lock to close with ECA recipients or even get Mail to show that signatures from users with ECA certificates are valid.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Andreas

You said you were closing the lock on the certificate, or public key, which I've never had to to to send or receive encrypted email.
There are encryption and signature icons that appear under the Subject field in the compose message window. Both of them default to On when I enter the name of someone for whom I have an ECA cert. If the person has a CAC cert, then the Lock icon appears open and I can't close it.
However, the error message you're getting suggests that maybe all your recipients haven't provided their public key to you so that you can encrypt email to them.
This ties into my comment about everything working fine in Vista/Outlook: I'm using the exact same certs and can send everyone encrypted email
    Thanks,
    Andreas

  • How to capture all the email addresses from the drop down  lists

I would like to capture all the email addresses that mail has captured and gives you as a prompt when you start to enter and an address...is there a way to do this ? Does anyone know where all these email addresses live ?
    Thanks matt

For that program, it says it will import from CSV files, in which case once you add the email address and name to Address Book, you can create a new group for that purpose and add everyone you want to that group. Then select the group and drag it to the Desktop to create one vCard file with all those contacts.
The go to this URL in Firefox (it won't work in Safari): <http://labs.brotherli.ch/vcfconvert/> and use the online vCard converter to convert that file to a CSV file. Be sure to add a header line if Interspire requires it in the file to import it, and check the results in Excel or Numbers before you import it.
