A question about clearing SM_OBS_DLL in temp folder

Hi,
Our users are experiencing issues like this "The requested action is not supported for this object [message 131-171] ". According to the searching result, removing SM_OBS_DLL folder in temp folder could fix this issue. But the problem is our users are processing hundreds of orders every day and these issues impact their efficiency a lot. Is there any permanent solution for this?
P.S. our SAP B1 version is 8.8 PL17
Thanks,
Lan

Hi Lan and Marc,
Unfortunately the DI API has never been particularly stable when processing larger amounts of data over extended periods. The error message you receive may not actually be related to the problem. Some patches are better than others. Are you able to do any testing on a different patch?
Is there any monitoring you can do (eg track the memory usage of your add-on over time) on a workstation?
Also, if you are not already doing so, I recommend you garbage collect any DI API objects as soon as you've finished with them:
public static void DisposeObjects(Object obj)
    System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(obj);
    obj = null;
    GC.Collect();
Kind Regards,
Owen
P.S. Incidentally the way that the DI API runtime files are copied to the workstation is changing in 8.82 so, if you can't find a solution in your current version, you could look at 8.82 to see if that makes an improvement.

  • Question about clear page and reset pagination

    Hi,
I have a question about clear pages and the reset pagination in an URL. What is the reason why a clear page doesn't also trigger a reset pagination on the pages which are cleared?
I can't really imagine a business case where it makes sense to clear all data of page items on a page and don't reset the pagination of reports on that page which probably use a page item in there where clause...
The drawback of this behavior is that a developer always has to set the reset pagination checkbox when he clears the target page and the even bigger drawback is that if you specify other pages to clear, you can't reset pagination for them, because reset pagination only works for the target page.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Question about pictures file in home folder

I am trying to create more space on my hard drive and have a question about the pictures file.
In addition to the iPhoto Library I have several folders named 1, 2, 3 etc each containing a bunch of photos; plus several hundred individual photo files.
My question is whether these files are duplicates of what is in the iPhoto Library - and is there an easy way to find that out?
And I guess also to find out how they got there in the first place. Could these be imports from disks as opposed to my digital camera?
    Thanks for any help,
    Laura

    Hey laura,
I haven't used iPhoto for a while but from memory i think that i work similar to iTunes. Whne files are processed by iPhoto they are catalogued on the hard drive according to the iPhoto preferences. I would check out the iPhoto preferences and see if you can see anything in here that will tell you what is going on.

  • Backing up to external drive, and questions about "clearing up" hd space..?

    iPhoto 6. Specs are below.
I have about 7,000 photos, and I have to clear out my hd to create more space.
I have "backed-up" my hd using "super duper" and an external firewire seagate pro drive and now need to clear out space on the internal drive on my G4.
    Here are my questions/concerns:
How do I go about deleting my photos off of my internal hd?
I want to continue to use iphoto, but need to delete my current photos from it, in order to free up space.
Will I be able to get access to this drive in, say 10 years from now?
Will it be safe to store in the closet?
When I go to back-up iphoto, will it add my "new" pictures to the old pictures I saved?
My concerns are longevity, and to be able to access these in the future.
Should I be looking at another process? Back-up to DVD?
    Thanks for your help!!!!
Feel free to ask me questions as well. These are very important photos, actually ANYONE'S photos are important......just want them safe for the future.

You can run an entire library from that external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Now, when you add new pics, that's where they will go - obviously, as long as the disk is attached to your Mac and not in the closet
The longevity of storage is a matter of some debate. Optical media (CD & DVD) are rated in years, but none have been around long enough to know if those ratings are accurate. My solution to that problem is to burn a copy of my library to DVD twice a year, so that gets renewed every six months or so. I also upload my library to FLICKR.
I guess the point of backing up is that it's an ongoing process, not a single event.

  • Is it safe to clear c:\windows\temp folder on Exchange 2010?

    Good day.
I'm running out of space on my Win 2008 R2 SP1 with Exchange 2010 server. Could you tell me if it safe using DiskCleanup wizard on disk "C" to free some space while Exchange is working? I't made me some doubt is it will be allright with my Exchange
    after this?

I know about circular logging, but i'm not sure that i can turn it on until i dismount/mount DB.
Actually, i have number of question that i can't find the answers or try to find out the answer in my testing Exchange virtual environment.
    1) What if i delete log then not put on the DB. What the behavior of the base was? Is it dismount right after deletion or it will be fine until i decide to dismount and then mount it?
    2) In a previous trying to fix the problem i have dismount the DB (check the state was "Clean shutdown" and, as i see, DB don't need old logs for proper work) but can't to delete all the log files. It told me that they are in use. I try to reload server
with check "Not mount Database after reload"
but i wasn't help. What was the problem of it?
    3) In other of my previous trying i deleted some replyed logs, then Dismount DB (check state "Clean Shutdown") and when i try to mount it again it has an error until i was clear all log's on a folder. After this it make a new log files and mount allright. Whats
    the problem it may be?
    4) How does backup understand that there was some logs deleted manualy and why it doesn't delete it if it already has a complete backup of DB file. Why does the system needs this logs anymore?
    5) And the final step. Is it will be if after dismount the database in a proper way it will no mount again with some error message?
Ufff. Sorry for some kind stupid questions. If you will help me fix some of this i will be very very glad!

  • Question about clearing LR history and backing up

I know we can clearn LR history on a particular image by clicking "clear all" in the history panel.  Is there a way to do this for all images w/o having to go through all of them?  I don't want LR to keep track of every little thing I did on every little image; if the development is significant, I would use virtual copy or snapshot.  I think having all the history info is waste of space and may slow down LR.
When backing up LR3, the program only backs up Lightroom 3 Catalog.lrcat, but my LR3 folder is over 2gb.  Is this 20mb Ircat file the only thing we need to worry about?  What are some of the other things in the folder that is taking up so much space?

Each history step could be a very small amount of space in the catalogue database. I'm not sure what you mean by "slow down LR." Slow down how? What activities or gestures will be impacted?
I am hearing you want to reset all settings to some large selection of your images , excepting some or all virtual copies or those with snapshots. It might be better to work with temporary catalogues, merging those into a master catalogue in a selective manner.

Perhaps the preview cache? You can also check to see if your raw cache is in there, too.  I assume your managed photos are in a different directory tree (or trees.)

  • Question about clearing the main drive

Not quite sure if this is even possible (I'm not the greatest with computers) but I'm interested in just cleaning up my hard drive. I've had the computer for a year and just want to get rid of some of the programs I'm not using in order to improve the processor speed, etc.. I know just dragging stuff to the trash doesn't completely clear it, what is the best way about going through my Mac and clearing off old files and programs.

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Most applications create preference files which are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can located them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:
    AppZapper
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at www.versiontracker.com or www.mackupdate.com.

  • Question about hwmon; knowing which Temp correspond to CPU or Mobo??

Hi all, well my problem is this:
I want to monitor my CPU temp
    I have a Athlon X2
So reading here in the forums, i read how to use conky and hwmon to display the temps. So far so good, BUT in: /sys/bus/pci/drivers/k8temp/
i get 2 readings, temp1_input and temp3_input, so since im a noob, i realized that temp1_input was always hotter than temp3, so i said: ok, thats the CPU temp and the other its the motherboard, BUT when i start to do demanding things on my PC, the supossed MB temp get olmost as hot as the supossed CPU temp
So now i dont know if each reading correspond to a core, and temp1 + temp3 equals to my total CPU temps, but the readings of the temps in the BIOS shows that the temp is actually like temp1_input (like 32 ºC),  so that make me wonder that maybe my MB gets hot as the CPU which i find it weird (right now temp3_input shows 26ºC
So my question is, how can i know for sure to which component those temps correspond??
Anyway that i can provide more info please tell me how
And thanks in advance for any help :]
using Ksensors, it shows that temp1 correspond to core0 and temp3 to core1,  so that means my CPU is at olmost 60ºC :S??
its a brand new X2 5600+ whit artic silver and a good cooler (nothing fancy but still)
Last edited by AlmaMater (2007-12-05 06:44:29)

I wouldn't care about it If each core stays below 45-50°C.
And you'll never get exactly the same readings for both cores as it's very unlikely with today's software that both will be used uniformly.

  • [JS CS3] A question about clearing scriptArgs

Do parameters remain in the app object until they are cleared? I'm invoking scripts from indesign server, supplying parameters which the scripts read using app.scriptArgs.getValue().
Should I call app.scriptArgs.clear() in all scripts, after the "args" have been read? Or are there other mechanisms clearing these arguments?

  • Question about clearing floats....

  • [AMD] question about the fx-53 temps, n00b in OC

hello there, i never done any OC before but before i do it i wanted to know if my temps at stock speed and stock HSF are ok
    idle: ~47º C
    load: ~60º C
    northbridge idle: ~48º C
    northbridge load: ~50º C
my pc is located on a place that has a very bad air circulation, does that change much the temps?
BTW: i measured those temps using SpeedFan, is it reliable?
    TIA

having a better look i think the airflow inside the case stinks :( but there's almost no room to move the cables around, specially the one that gives power to the motherboard, it's very thick and there's no good position i can put it, another one that is blocking the airflow to the top fan is the flat ide cable to the dvd drive, i'll try to find one of those round ide cables but they are really hard to find here in brazil :(
what's really strange is that after i moved back the pc to the closed desk it's now burning hot! just so you have and idea my hard drives got to 50ºC. i must have done something really stupid with the cables that completely stopped the airflow, but i can only have a better look at it on the weekend :(

  • Duplicates in temp folder

I've recently upgraded to PS Elements V7. I've noticed that when I modify the date/time of a picture, it is leaving a duplicate copy of the picture in my temp folder (path is C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\temp). The only difference between this picture file and the original in my "my pictures" folder, is the date of the file/picture.
There is also an empty "Adobe" and empty "editor" sub-folder in this temp folder.
I've noticed that this duplicate file appears only when I modify the date/time of a picture, not if I do a full edit of the picture and save it (then it just overwrites the original picture in the "my pictures" folder.
I've tried closing PS Elements and rebooting the computer, but the files in the temp folder are still there. I deleted all of these pictures and through Elements modified a picture, checked that it had duplicated in temp (it had), closed element, rebooted...still there.
As I've never noticed this before (I usually clear out the temp folder about 1x a week and have been an elements user for years), I'm wondering what is causing it? If it is normal? Is there a way to disable it?
As this temp folder is somewhat hidden (most/many computer users probably don't know how to access it), the fact that it is retaining full duplicate copies of modified pictures that must be manually deleted means that many users hard drives may be filling up unnecessarily with these files.
I've checked in elements and noted that it points to the original picture in the "my pictures" folder and not to the temp folder duplicate. Deleting the temp folder pictures does not seem to affect elements. I've also tried the folder view option in elements to see if it was "recognizing" these duplicates in temp, but the temp folder does not even come up as accessible.
Thanks for any help, insight...Mike Villella

John, thanks for the reply. I wonder if anyone else is missing a lot of disk space due to files in a temp folder that don't know about. I would think that closing the program and/or rebooting would flush this folder, but apparently not.
I use Norton Protected Recycle bin. Never noticed a similar problem before. I just did an "unerase" function with the recycle bin and there were a lot of old files that are associated with elements, just not any actual pix.
I do keep finished photos on a NAS drive, but the photos in question are on the hard drive (C drive).
I did the process again paying more attention. Started by deleting everything in the temp folder and rebooting.
The file had a date taken of 12/5/99 a created date of 1/3/09 and a modified date of 1/24/09 and was in "My pictures". Upon adjusting the time/date to 12/15/99, a new file popped up in the temp folder, same name, size, rez, etc. The temp file has a date taken of 12/5/99, a created date of 1/25/09 and a modified date of 1/24/09, same as the old file except the new created date of today.
The picture in "my pictures" is also same size, name and rez. The date taken has the new date of 12/15/99, and a modified and created date of 1/25/09 (today).
So apparently, upon adjusting the time/date, the original file is being duplicated and created in temp, while the original file is being updated with the new date entered and today's date as created and modified.
The duplicated file in temp is basically orphaned. Elements does not appear to link to it or see it. When I delete it manually, it does not affect Elements.
So, I guess I can understand why a temp file is created during the process (but, by the same token, not sure why the same thing doesn't happen during a full edit), but I'm not sure why it is left in temp and not automatically deleted at some point. Does that make sense or am I missing something?
Also, I notice a amt, alm, libFNP_events, and swtag file being created in this temp folder (C:\documents and settings\username\local settings\temp). They don't seem to ever auto delete either.

Hi All, I have question about the iMac operating system. I have the last updated. The problem when I manage the place of the folder windows they are all mixing up. I mean they not on the place where I left them. how to set they stay on the same place? I know there are different possibilities to set.
I tried but it not helped for me. What I can do? How and where can set this they stay on their place?
    Thanks.
    laci

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Question about Removing Permissions from the System Folder with chmod

    Hi
I have a question about the removal of permissions from the System folder (and sub directories and files).
    Background
Since installing a new HD, clean install of 10.6, application of updates and moving over backed up user directories I have had several issues with permissions.
I have read several threads on this and using disk warrior and other tools I have been able to fix most of the issues.
    The Problem
The issue that remains is a permissions check using Disk Utility keeps reporting
ACL found but not expected on "System".
followed by an extensive list of sub directories and all.
Attempts to repair take hours and the same errors are reported.
    Found Solutions
I have read about changing and/or completely removing the ACL from the permissions from the System using two different commands:
sudo chmod -R -N ./System/* ( to remove all ACLs)
    or
    sudo chmod -R -E ./System/* ( to replace all ACLs )
My Question is ( to the UNIX gurus):
What is the difference between the usage with -E and -R and which is the best approach for a Systems directory and (subordinates)?
    Many thanks!!

    OK
So I misread on the your instructions about the PW reset, did it, no harm in that. I did also select the options to reset all the permissions for all the accounts and the ACL issues were not resolved. My bad, I forgot to note that.
You do suggest getting and expert opinion but alas these are rather elusive. In most cases the Apple solutions is to do a complete reinstall... I have found that unless you completely wipe a drive and rebuild everything there are often artifacts left behind. Since I have full and redundant back-ups I would rather explore and hack a little instead of a dull old system reinstall. The irony is the system issue I had was it was the result a reinstall and combo update on a new drive. I recognize the risks of entering the realms of the System folders but I am willing to explore knowing full well that I have a path to recovery.
Thanks again for your insights. I come to the forums looking for insights and ideas but not a lecture...
