A-Scan from the Ultrasonic Starter Kit

I've a problem concerning the USonic_A_scan.vi from the "Ultrasonic Starter Kit" downloadable at the VI-Website

My task is to measure and detect the amplitude and delay of an
ultrasonic signal, for this purpose the functinality provided within
the "USonic_A_scan.vi" would serve perfectly, but yet I'm not able to
determine how the ampltuide measurement exactly works.
Here's my problem:
When a change the vertical position of my gates, the value returned for
the amplitude changes (The horizontal position and the width of the
gate stay constant). Why? Is there any other (comfortable) possibility
to measure the amplitude within a certain "gate"?

The backwall echo measured amplitude is stable WRT gate height in the example. The front wall amplitude jumps around a lot. Assuming that you are looking for a single echo then there is a lot of noise in the signal in relation to the peak detector.vi width setting. The width is set to the default value of three which means that it will look for inflections based on three sample points. If you set it to 8 then the front wall echo amplitude stabilizes, even for changes in gate height. Whether that makes sense in terms of an ultrasonic measurement is another issue as the peak detector width, the transducer frequency and the sample rate are all tied together here. The peak detector vi is not going to return the sample within the gate that has the maximum amplitude, it is going to return an interpolated value based on a curve fit over a certain number of points, where the first derivative of the fitted curve is zero, indicating an inflection.

Hi, I am a french student, and I am working on an ultrasonic table with Labview 7.1.
On the one hand, I have done the control of the table that moves the "probe?", and on the other hand I have done the program that read the picture given by EPOCH (an ultrasonic system that detects interfaces into metals).
So, now my goal is now to mix them to make a map of those interfaces (one gives the position (x,y) of the probe and the other a graph with intensity peaks).
I have found the "ultrasonic starter kit", and I would like to modify it, but I need help to remove the part that simulates the graph of intensity in order to replace it with mine and to remove the part that simulates (x,y) position to replace it by my positions that are controled in the same order. (y decreases each time x>constant).

I think it would be easier for you to start from a blank VI, than modifiying the example you found which is quite complex. Try to use an intensity graph with inputs as your data.

Get the Encoder Data from NI Robotics Starter Kit 1.0

I want to make a perfect 90 degree turn using the encoder Data from Robotics Starter Kit 1.0. Now I am doing it giving the angular velocity and controlling the time. But, the problem is, it's not perfect all the time. It is not repeatable. So, I want to use the encoder Data to turn it 90 degrees perfectly. So, How could I get the Quadrate Encoder Data from the motors (What VI should be used?).

Sorry for the delayed response. I believe that with the Robotics Starter Kit 1.0 you aren't actually suppose to worry about which of the FPGA I/O correspond to which sensor because the Robotics VIs abstract that for you by design. Here's a link that you might find interesting that describes how to communicate with the FPGA to steer a robot using either the Servo's angular position or velocity:

In the above link for example, they mention using the Write Sensor Servo Angle VI to set the angle that you want to rotate the Servo to.

Problem stopping the Labview Starter Kit motors (huge offset?)

I implemented an algorythm for the Labview Starter Kit. It reads a map and navigates from the initial point to the goal. The Starter Kit only performs two movements: "go straight X mm", and "turn 90º left/right (the turning is made when stopped, like a rotation).
The problem Im encountering is the turning. It uses a digital compass (CMPS09): when the robot needs to turn left/right, I feed the CCW Velocity of the motors (using the read/write FPGA functon) with +3.4 rad/seg and -3.4 rad/seg, into a timed loop.
The condition to stop is simple: "if heading=desired heading for the actual turn --> finish loop and stop motors".
Well, it happens that in the time window from calling the "stop motor" function, and the robot motors and wheels actually STOPPING, the robot travels 9-10 extra degrees!
So, for example, I want the robot to turn from north (0º) to 90º. The CCW velocities are feed with +3.4rad/seg and +3.4rad/seg into a timed loop, and I checked that the timed loop finishes when the heading is 90º. But the final orientation of the robot is exactly 100º, because the motor seems to take a little time to stop.
The deviation depends on the velocity of the motors, I was able to reduce it to 3/4 degrees using a turning velocity of 1rad/seg, but it has no use since it´s extremely slow and the motors works very badly (they dont even are able to maintain a constant speed in slower velocities).
I tried to check the Starter Kit FPGA.VI but I fail to understand how the "stop motor" function works.
I dont know if there is any way to correct or reduce the "stopping time" of the motors. If I correct the turning function to subtract 10º for every turnop before starting the movement, the algorythm works as long as I use the 3.4rad/seg velocity... but that solution is extremely shabby, and I dont think I cant say that on my Final Project! There has to be a way to improve it, isn´t it?
EDIT: For the record, I tried several variations for the loop, and several timing, form us to ms, and I think that´s not the problem, because I wasnt able to get better resulsts at all.

I did have similar problems and I figured all that I installed too many real-time components. It might not be the case with yours but you might try.

How to create a Windows 8.1 Desktop icon from the Metro/Start and/or Search Tool?

I'm a Desktop user, but often find myself needing to go to the Metro/Start and Search Tool to find programs and App(let)s in order to run them. However, after doing this several times for many programs, I find myself wanting to create
Desktop icons to run the programs more easily. Is there a way to do this from the Metro/Start Icon and/or Search Tool results?
If not, Microsoft, please consider adding the ability to do this.
It would be very nice if this ability supported all of the icon types shown in the Metro/Start, Search Tool, and Control Panel interfaces, e.g.: Metro Apps, Desktop Programs, Charms, and Control Panel Applets.
Currently, there is a way to pin the Metro/Start Icon to the Desktop, but the Taskbar will get very cluttered with even only a handful icons.
It would be very nice if the desktop icon created by this also supported the context options that the program/app(let) now shows as Tasks when the icon is pinned to the Desktop Taskbar.
Additionally, it would be nice if I could also simply drag a Pinned Taskbar icon onto the Desktop area, again, retaining it's Tasks as context menu options when the Desktop Taskbar icon is right clicked.
This ability would be very helpful for people needing to get to programs and App(let)s, without having to resort the Metro/Start and Search Tool, because when there are a lot of Metro/Start icons, I have well over a hundred icons, it
can be very hard to find one simply eye-balling lot. The Search feature is much better, provided I know the name to look for and can remember it.
Finally, this ability would be very helpful, because the kinds of desktop shortcut icons that I can create using the New Shortcut option, assuming that can I find the program/App(let)'s name and path information, do not support the context options
that the icons could in Windows 7 when an icon is created while installing the program.

How do I get MFP M476dn to scan from the document feeder from the computer?

How do I get my HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dn to scan from the document feeder when initiated from the computer? The printer will scan from the document feeder if it is initiated from the small screen on the printer, however when I try to initiate from the computer it scans a blank page. The printer acknoledges that the document feeder is loaded.

To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.

The AIR Integration Kit comes with applicationupdater_ui.swc and applicationupdater_ui.swf which are built with Flex 3.1. Due to API changes in Gumbo, using applicationupdate_ui.swc as is causes a verify error. This change uses the existing source and build file from the Air Integration Kit to rebuild applicationupdate_ui.swc and applicationupdate_ui.swf.

Your problem sounds similar to this one, except that they're using software raid rather than just pure LVM. If you're using an initrd, you may not have the appropriate modules installed. If you're not using an initrd, then the kernel probably needs LVM support compiled in (not as a module) and could be solved by fixing that. I have never used the ck-patchset, but this should give you an additional data point.
Also comment=systemd.automount will be deprecated soon as I understand it; if you have a need for automounting, x-systemd.automount should be used instead.

Photosmart C310 not scanning from the All in One.

Since reloading drivers after viruses, the scanner asks me to scan from the computer. I used to scan direct from the C310.
I tried to scan from the printer's webpage but the save button was missing. My only options are PDF or jpeg images now. I just want documents. Can anyone give me any advice please?

I understand you're unable to scan from the front panel of the Photosmart Premium C310A. I will do my best to assist you! First, I need to find out your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?
How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB?
If you have a Windows computer, please follow this entire HP document on Windows: A 'No Scan Options' or 'Scan settings are not set' Message Displays on the Printer.
You can scan from the Solution Center for more scanning options. I will provide this HP document on How to Scan from the Solution Center (Windows). If you would like to scan using Web Scan, then I will provide an example on how to save the document:

Unable to scan from the printer control panel to my computer using the HP Photosmart 5510

Hi, I recently purchased the new HP Photosmart 5510 All in One --- and I’m not able to scan from my printer to my computer. I am however able to scan by initiating the scan from the computer. I spoke to HP customer care earlier this evening and we ran the print + scan doctor and did not find any problems. I’m running Windows 7 – 64bit and have installed my printer wirelessly using the Installation CD that came with the printer today. I wasn’t able to finish troubleshooting with the technician I spoke to because I had to leave for work. The Person I spoke with suggested possibly downloading the Full Feature Software from the hp.com website, which I’m happy to do but I feel that it is unnecessary because I have the install CD right here. (The rep I spoke to was very nice but I’d rather not have to uninstall and reinstall if it is not necessary) Because as I mentioned above, everything else works perfectly and I am able to scan --- just not directly from the printer itself. When I'm trying to scan from my printer to my computer an error message comes up on the printer's control panel stating that: there is no scan destinations selected/no scan options. However, I can not find anywhere with my HP software where I could add/ensure that the destinations were there. (Like I could on my other printers. (Ie. Through the Solution Center) This printer does not seem to have a Solution Center that I could find and the Scanner Icon that was installed with the CD does not give me any options in terms of modifying the scanner settings I’m wondering: 1. Does the Hp Photosmart 5510 not have the capability to scan from the printer’s control panel? 2. OR Does the install CD that came with my printer only have the basic drivers like the tech support agent suggested? Which means in order to scan from my printer I’d have to download the drivers from your hp website? 3. Or is the issue due to something else completely? Thanks for your help!
