Since you cannot access other sessions besides the current one, you will need to store the current users somewhere other than the session. Here is an option.
public class User implements HttpSessionBindingListener
   private String userid ;
   private MyServlet servlet ;
   public User(Stirng userid, MyServlet servlet)
        this.userid = userid;
        this.servlet = servlet ;
   //assume standard accessor methods.
   public void valueBound(HttpSessionBindingEvent ev)
     getServlet().currentUsers.addElement( getUserID() );
   public void valueUnBound(HttpSessionBindingEvent ev)
     for(int i = 0; i < getServlet().currentUsers.size(); i++)
         if( ((User)getServlet().currentUsers.elementAti)).getUserID().equals( getUserID() ) )
              getServlet().currentUsers.remove(i);
              break ;
public class MyServlet extends HttpServlet
    public Vector currentUsers ;
}Then, you can access the servlets currentUsers vector for a list of current users. Readup on HttpSessions and the HttpSessionBindingListener classes.
You will put the person's information in a Bean and then store it in the session when they logon/return/etc. The Listener handles the rest.

  • Online Business Builder Question

    Why is the "Import your current website in minutes and build it yourself from there" radio button disabled on the Online Business Builder?

    Has nothing over using it.
    A partner introduces BC as a concept, their build what they will do for them and the cost.
    The client goes looks into BC, does not know the web, presses a couple of buttons and enters their site and their site is in BC.
    In a very terrible and not correct way but to them, its there. They go pages, make some changes and you loose a sale.
    It Imports in a very basic - fetch the rendered html way into pages, nothing else and that really is a very BAD place or someone to work from developing what is likely supposed to be a new site/ new version of the site using BC and if your doing that your looking to utilise the features and do the site better.
    So from a business standpoint it makes a sale if they find this that much harder.
    As a passionate web designer and developer who strives not only for web standards but good code, optimised and amazing looking websites that function well and do a great job in terms of useability, perfomance, SEO and more... Things like this I do not like for a vast amount of reasons.
    Brad I do have to disagree with you in terms of the quicker and more efficient element, this tool certanly does not do that.

  • How can I make my online business work for customers with iPads?

    I have an online business where I sell MP3s (my own recordings, all very legal).  What is the easiest way that my customers can download my products to their iPads and iPhones?  This is an increasing problem as more people purchase products from me using their iOS devices.

    I selected the one I posted because it starts out with the sentence; "Purchasing via phone applications are becoming a phenomenal process in the mobile driven world." That sounded like what you were asking for to me.

  • I have recently purchased the latest ipad. Got to say I am extremely dissapointed that it does not support Java or Flash which are platforms needed to do online business banking. I am now faced with ditching it and replacing it with a competitors product

    I have recently purchased the latest ipad. Got to say I am extremely dissapointed that it does not support Java or flash which are platforms needed to do online business banking. I am now faced with ditching an expensive toy for a competitors product that offers full business functionallity. Is there any way round this ? It seems extremely bad form on apples part not to support this or make it very clear of the products limitations at the time of purchase.

    Well, my bank has an app but the website does not use Flash or Java.  While my credit union doesn't have an app, their website doesn't require Flash or Java either.
    I pay all my bills online, bank, and access my brokerage accounts.  None of the sites I have encountered require Flash or Java.  Some government sites do require Flash so I use Photon, it's a browser that does Flash content very well.  So you might check out some alternatives browsers.
    Otherwise I suppose you will either dump you bank, your iPad, or just not do online banking.

  • Is it risky to start a online business using quicktime player?

    I am starting a business with video on the internet, but after doing my research I find that most people have the flash player on their browsers and many would have to download the 30mb+ file filling out forms etc just to view the video content on my pages. I realise that h264 video is supreme, but there is a problem if people have a hard time getting quicktime on their computers. Any advice?

    It's probably a lot more work for you, but I'd offer the content in several options. Quicktime, Flash and WMV. IMO, it's important to keep QT as part of what you offer. If everyone caves to providing only Flash or WMV, then QT will continue to be the underdog.
    I think the reality is that there are still more PC's than Macs out there, but it's a great statement for a site to offer QT along with the rest.

  • IPhoto will no longer recognize my iPhone and auto download images since updates, help, I use this non stop for online business which has been halted

    imac with latest updates / iphone 5 , worked previous to iphone recent update , had to rebuild the photo library first now it downloads nothing new when i plug in the phone to the imac

    Try this possible fix:

    This solved my questionRe: ios update problem - 7.1 11D167 iphoto not picking up new photos
    Mar 20, 2014 7:15 AM (in response to JdinPa)
    I figured out the fix for the Mac users having this problem. I connected my iPhone to my iMac and started iTunes. A dialogue came up in iTunes, I OK'd that and then OK'd the usual "Do you trust this Mac" that comes up on my iPhone.
    Suddenly Image Capture launched itself and there were all my photos, ready to be downloaded.
    As a workaround see if Image Capture can see and download your photos to a folder on the Desktop.  They can be imported from there into iPhoto.

  • How do I take my Online Business Live?

    Taking Your Site Live
    Step 1: Download the "Going Live" Guide
    This guide takes you through the process of moving a site from Trial mode to Live mode. This includes the process of assigning a domain name to a BC site. You'll need this for setting up your first client site, so download it and keep it somewhere safe.
    Download: The "Going Live" Guide
    Step 2: Hit The "Upgrade" Button
    Once you've got the "Going Live" guide in hand and understand the process of moving a site into live mode, you'll need to initiate the upgrade process.
    Simply click through to the trial site you'd like to upgrade from the "Clients" tab of your Partner Portal, then click the "Upgrade Site" button.
    A modal window will pop-up, allowing you to select a plan for the site and enter your client's payment details.

    You called yourself that, I did no such thing.
    YES, if you looked at your bill INSTEAD of your billing summary, the "surcharges and fees" WILL BE ITEMIZED.
    When first looking at your bill, you see the "BILL SUMMARY"
    Select "CHARGED BY LINE" in order to get more detail than what is shown in the "summary", then click on the "+" next to the Verizon surcharges to get the itemization of your surcharges. Clicking on the "+" next to any category will expand that category.
    And there you have the surcharges itemized into 4 separate categories with descriptions next to each amount, for my bill at least. Since you have an unusually large amount for your total surcharges, you will likely have additional categories. Of course, I have the same surcharges on each of my 4 lines.

  • Sales tax on online orders

    I am unclear on the sales tax situation for online orders of iPads.
    Will I be charged sales tax if I order an iPad thru the Apple online store?
    If online orders are sales tax free why are there so may people lining up at stores to buy iPads (and other products for that matter) which will end up more expensive?

    Whether or not Apple (or any online merchant) collects and remits sales tax depends to a large extent on whether they have a retail presence in the state (in this case, if there are Apple Stores there). Another factor is whether the company does enough online business there that the state chooses to expend the resources to collect sales taxes even without a retail presence -Amazon.com, for instance, collects sales tax for sales in Tennessee because they do tons of business here and because many of their distributors and shippers use warehouses here which Tennessee has indicated a willingness to seize in lieu of the tax dollars. Consequently Amazon caved in and now collects taxes at the time of sale. Apple already has retail stores here so they collected taxes on my order at the time I placed it.

  • Need information on the art of the possible with Business Catalyst

    Hi
    My wife is setting up an online Business that will sell downloadable language resources (for learning foreign languages). These will include worksheets, soundfiles, and also animations (that are being done by a separate animator).
    I am a 'rusty' Java developer and have said that I would do the IT for her.
    We have purchased an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription as she is doing the worksheets in InDesign, and they will be sold as PDF's.
    I have mocked up the beginnings of a website with Muse, but was intending to use that for getting the look and feel right, then replicating it in Java and HTML5.
    However, today I started looking a Business Catalyst and seeing what it could do, but I am confused about it.
    Would I be able to sell downloadable items using the eCommerce features?
    Can I set up a mock shop on the free BC site?
    How much does the eCommerce upgrade actually cost? Like I said, we are a Creative Cloud subscriber.
    There will be some features that I will need to code, perhaps talking to another database, I understand that you can call out from the app to your own webservices etc?
    Thanks for any help.
    matt

    Hi Matt,
    BC sounds like a good solution for you from the little bit you shared.
    Do you mean javascript or java? Java doesn't run on BC as FYI.
    Here are your answers:
    Would I be able to sell downloadable items using the eCommerce features?
    Yes you can. BC allows you to have media downloads for purchase.
    Can I set up a mock shop on the free BC site?
    Yes, you can start a free trial site that will allow you build and try out BC. Once you are ready to go live with the site you would pay to upgrade the site to a live site.
    How much does the eCommerce upgrade actually cost? Like I said, we are a Creative Cloud subscriber.
    The price is $38.88 per month (USA pricing. AU differs - more info here on pricing: US Monthly Pricing | Adobe Business Catalyst ) with Creative Cloud you have five basic sites with BC but to "upgrade" you pay the regular price for BC sites.
    There will be some features that I will need to code, perhaps talking to another database, I understand that you can call out from the app to your own webservices etc?
    There are APIs that allow you to talk to other services and send information back to BC.
    You can find more answers by reading the KB: BC Help & support
    On a side note, if you need help getting started with Business Catalyst I would happily offer my services. Send me a PM if you need additional help.

  • IWeb not capable of online store, what is?

    Hi folks, I know iWeb is not capable of doing an online storefront, least that's what I read. What mac software out there can? Looking to start an online business and wondering if there is some software I can use. Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    John ~ See the video here:
    http://blog.weebly.com/2/post/2009/05/announcing-weebly-e-commerce-features.html
    ...You may find you can build your entire site (not just the "shop") in free, web-based Weebly. But if not, as an alternative to setting up a basic hyperlink in iWeb to your external "shop", you can link to it from iWeb's navigation bar:
    Create a blank internal page titled "Shop" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Shop page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.window.location = "http://www.yourshopname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
    ...Once published, clicking on "Shop" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Shop page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • Business Catalyst (Self Hosting Package): Any Plan? Will be nice

    I think it will nice Adobe puts BC as an additional option where BC can be privately hosted by a partner via any hostiing provider. This will make BC more flexible for most customers that do not want to move their hosting from  existing providers. What do you think?

    Like Brad said, I think you totally miss the point of BC's existance as a SAAS. Wont happen, it is not that kind of product.
    You achieve the exact opppsite in terms of confidence with what your suggesting. The core aspect of being hosted so you do not have to worry about hardware pefomance, upgrades, maintance, stability, core critical low level development... (long list) is that security and safe knowledge you can focus on the more important aspects of a website and the online business it creates.
    If you want what your after you should look at other CMS's.

    I'm hung on one servlet for my site. It compiles fine, and is accessed fine by the JSP, but doesn't do as I intended: write my blog entries to the MySQL database! As mentioned in the title, I'm using JNDI for connection pooling, via META-INF/context.
