A variable from START-OF-SELECTION to be displayed at the TOP-OF-PAGE?

I want to display a variable (by WRITE ststement) which is populated under the the event start-of-selection in the top-of-page event.
Is it possible to do that and if yes then How can I do it?

i think top-of-page will trigger when it gets the first write statement. so
start-of-selection.
var = 100.
write : / 'This is in start-of-selection'.
top-of-page.

so the thing is you have to assign the value to your variable before first write statement.

When I start Firefox a small window flashes on the top left my vista desktop. It flashes very quickly and looks no bigger then just the Minimize, Restore, and Close buttons of a window with a border. It doesn't happen when I open a new window. It happens in safe mode. It also happens after I've reset Firefox. I use MS security essentials and I've scanned with spybot and also malwarebytes. Anyone know what this may be?

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data and try to delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them).
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Yikes...a 200 error...while the official KB for that is not presently available, the usual fix is to reload your OS...something during the update did not go right.

Check boxes are by default checked.

Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

i run osX 10.6.8 on a 2007 macbook pro that has had 2 motherboards replaced autumn 2010.
my troubleshooting has been: restart, pRam and safe boot, also checking a 'test' account to find the same issues extant.
pRam restart caused airport to quit and say there is no airport card, and wouldn't respond untill another reboot.
macbook pro 15" 2.4 GHz intel core duo.2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
i have treated this book with care, yet run logic pro studio to the limit of this book's abilities.
what shoud i do?

You don't say which year you have, however...
...there are known problems with the mid-2010 models (see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) as well as early and late 15" 2011 models (see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4766577?tstart=0).
Apple has taken ownership of the problems with the 2010 model but, unfortunately, the free logic board replacement for that model has probably long expired for you - three years after date of purchase.
One the 2011 models Apple has admitted no defect. You'll just have to skim the articles to get an overview of the problems that people are having (usually showing up as screen glitches at first and then going downhill from there).

Authorization variable - from start to finish? BI7

Hi all!
Been spending the bigger part of my working day trying to find out how authorization variables work.
We are using 0Costcenter to limit what our users can plan on in an input-ready query.
Right now we have "hardcoded" 12 different reports for 12 different Cost Center managers.
I want to use only one report instead of 12, so I was thinking about using an authorization variable instead.
Here's the question -
How do I go about for using this? What are the different steps needed to make this work?
I have selected an authorization variable in the query. Next step should be to set authorizations somewhere. So where and how should those settings be made?
Should this later be saved down to a role - which then is given to a user? It's a jungle out there and I can't seem to find my way...

I did all that after your advice. Unfortunately - the query is still listing all cost centers. So when I removed the hardcoded costcenter values in the query it lists all of them instead. I have put in an authorization variable but nothing seems to happen. I have created and authorization object in RSECADMIN - selected my aggregation level as infoprovider - selected all the characteristics - * on all excep costcenter - narrowed costcenter down to just one (10146). It seems that RSECADMIN crashes when I want to see what technical character. (from) i can select from. So I just wrote 10146 in that field manually. Don't know if this is correct though.
I then selected "insert special Characteristics". 3 extra characteristics showed up. All of them needed to be set to "Authorization Relevant" in the Business Eplorer tab in RSA1 for each Characteristics. The system cried a little about this being technical content which will be overwritten in next upgrade or something - but I feel that's a later problem.
Anyway. I put the auth. object inside a previously created role for a specific report using S_RS_AUTH .
But as I said earlier - nothing much happened. Any clues to where I need to look deeper? Could the role somehow be granting full access even though we are narrowing it with the auth. object?

2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

My computer does not start up right away after I close the top... Is my hard drive going bad? Help please!

I typically just close my computer when I'm done with it, instead of putting it to sleep or logging off. Recently, when I open it back up, it does not start right away. I have to press the power button half a dozen times before it starts. HELP!!

Greetings and welcome.
Try booting from the system install CD/DVD by putting the disk in the drive and starting up while holding down the c key.
After boot-up find the Disk Utility, either on the desktop or under the Apple menu. Select your startup drive and the repair permissions on that drive. See if that helps.

Printing PDF from IE with Adobe Reader - extra white space at top of page

I searched the forums far and wide but did not find this question or information to answer it. If it's out there, I'd be much obliged if you'd point me in the right direction.
A user of the web app for which I do tech support just called to say that starting today, whenever he opened a PDF from our app (in IE), the PDF looks fine on screen but when he prints the PDF, every page has extra blank/white space inserted at the top, which cuts off the bottom inch or two of each page.
No other users have called with this complaint, and if changes to our app or an automatic background Adobe Reader or IE update caused this problem, I would have heard from many users. I have a sneaking suspicion I have heard about this from other users, but since troubleshooting their IE or Adobe isn't exactly my job, I don't know if I did any more than advise them to talk to their tech support people.
I can't recreate his problem (read: it works fine for me), but I'd like to help him. Can anyone think of a reason why this might be happening?

What I know: He's using Adobe Reader X. I do not know if it's the most recent version. The problem only exists with PDFs from our web app; he's not having trouble with other sites or with other PDFs.
I do not have a copy of the PDF; I can't give you the copy I downloaded when I logged into his account because there is proprietary confidential information on it, but everything worked fine for me and he's the only user with this complaint, so I believe it's related to his PC or printer, not to our app or to Adobe per se.
I sent him email asking for more information, but I do not know what printer he's using. I don't even know what version of Windows he's running.
Based on some info from Adobe, I suggested he make sure he's using the most recent version (10.1.2), try 'print as image" to see if that's any more successful, and make sure his printer drivers are up to date.
Given the nature of tech support, if he solves the problem or finds a workaround he's happy with, I may never hear from him again to know. I just wanted to know if this was a known issue and what recommended resolutions for it might be. Having not found anything on the web at large, I figured the Adobe forums would be a good place to ask.
