A whole load of nothing in IE6 (sob!)

Question

HI all
After much banging of head against monitor, I've come to you for your nuggets of wisdom. I have a site which works beautifully in absolutely any browser you care to mention, including IE 7 and 8, but not in IE 6.
Now, I know IE6 is a pile of **** generally, but I'm sure it used to work at one stage... now it doesn't.
So, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind just popping the following into your crystal balls and having a little look-see to see if you can spot what's going wrong.

Basically, what's happening is... nothing! The whole page remains blank.
I know there's a little duplication with the Spry CSS, but it broke every time I tried to fix it so I decided to just leave it be.

It's not the CSS according to the validator.
Do you have Firebug on Firefox - have you tried to use that to debug  (the version i have is not compatible with the FF version i am running, so can't check myself),
But if you go by the errors from the HTML validator, I still believe there's something wrong with the js code.  If as you say, you copied and pasted from tutorials, then maybe a script has been written inside another, or there's a character out of place (which appears to be what the validator is saying).
This is confirmed when I put your code into Textpad and when I view line numbers as nominated by the validator, they are the js lines of code.,
One being line 60 -

The validator can't be wrong as you mentioned in an earlier post - it's telling you there are problems on the page  :-)
The load image problem, is probably the reason why it takes a very long time for your page to load initially by the way.
For a test, why not remove the pre-loaded image behaviour (making sure that the js script is not left behind) and then check the page in the validator and see if those specific problems go away...   or else, the only way would be to rewrite the whole page, taking care where you copy and paste any code that you may be using.
